Hey Everyone!!
I am thinking about creating an online kitchen (similar to UOT) but for HTC Sense UI MODs. This includes Lock Rings, Weather Lockscreen Backgrounds, Docks, ability to remove/add time/carrier etc.. In short, a total customization of the Sense UI.
I believe that many users would love this and it would save time for the developers who are constantly creating Lock Rings/Sense Themes etc. As there are so many HTC devices, it is difficult to create the same MODs on all devices.
I'm planning to implement the whole thing in Node.JS + Socket.IO. It can also be done simply with HTML + PHP but then if there is high traffic, I believe the first option would be better.
Therefore the skills required would mainly be knowledge of programming languages such HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript etc.
I have started working a bit on this, but it would not be possible to do this alone and I would require some help. If anyone is experienced enough and able to help me out with this, it would be very much appreciated.
Please contact me via PM or email me at [email protected]
Thanks!

Excellent Idea, if you need any help with a host and setting up a webpage I can get that done for you. You would need to find some other Devs to developed the tools needed to modify the files and I work for a Sports Media Company and we have a department that Develops websites and I can get the guys to set everything up and find a host to be able to handle enough traffic. I will P.M. you my email and if your interested you can email me and we can get it going, I hope to see this up soon.

Yes I mainly need help with a host and the webpage. To modify the files, the tools are there and I've already written most of the background code to use the tools and modify the files. That code is in DOS atm, but i can rewrite in another language if required.
Look forward to your PM and hope to get this website implemented and up soon

Yeah, I'm still working on it alone at the moment. Sticktaylor has offered to help out, but I haven't heard back from him.
But anyways its still in progress...
Really looking forward to this! I am in the beta testing phase of my own personal custom ROM and this would really help it stand out. It is definitely a learn as you go kind of thing. Any ways, awesome idea and hope this does make its way into production. Thanks for all the hard work!
I think this is a great idea. It is a large project though, which will take a tremendous amount of effort and time. If you don't find enough people to help, or even if you do, have you considered joining development on UOT Kitchen? I'm not even sure if they are looking or more help, but, they already have such an amazing product, with some Sense manipulation in it even. It would be great to develop an already great thing to be even better, instead of starting from scratch to reinvent the wheel.
Just an idea...

Yes I know it is. Hopefully, I will be able to complete it this summer. If I am able to get some help, it will be done much sooner.
Hmm.. I could talk to mendozinas and see if it can be integrated with the UOT Kitchen. They only have framework mods atm, not Sense mods. Let's see, I'll give it a shot

Help service donation.
If you have your services taken care of already, please disregard. My Apologies... If you need some help with starting up host, data storage, bandwidth reqs. I can try to get donated service up to 4 to 6 months. Usually depends on the devs. idea/project. After donated time is up, the two companies I do regular business with, will usually offer a 10% to 25% discount on all service. Never hurts to try. If you would like me to submit your project, just shoot me off a PM and I'll fill you in.

I think the best way to go about this is through a google code collaboration effort, like myn suggested. That way nobody would have to "maintain" a rom per-say.
I don't think very many others have taken interest in this idea, however.

Camera is broken, force closes on soundset and mobile network settings. Also, a big battery hog.
Other than that, incubus produced a damn good port.
I did not experience the same battery issue. I posted some results on the original thread. I also flashed Lou's #7 kernal on it.
I like the idea of a collaborative project. Do everything at the code level and that way there's a checks and balance system. We would have a community build with solid code versus a string of roms based off incubus' initial port that may be bubble gummed and barbed wired with hacks and work arounds. A sense build like the way cyanogen and team douche go about it. I say we poll it and solicite some of our most talented Sense devs to head it up.

I'm not the "most talented sense dev", but I'd be willing to contribute and commit what I can. I do agree, though, we need some more interest in this.
incubus and myn are already doing something similar with Warm Z, and it seems to be working well.
I would be willing to contribute as well. I was just saying. "Most talented" for those who would verify and approve changes etc.

Gotcha, that's smart. I'm shooting myn a PM now, and I believe someone in the Evo thread is going to create a subversion project, if myn doesn't get that far.

Also here is an outstanding tutorial on using TotoiseSVN with code.google.com.

The latest version of the AndroidKitchen now will ignore source management repository directories (.cvs, .svn, .git) so I recommend fetching this repository into a WORKING_XXX directory within the kitchen. The .svn directories will automatically be removed when you do a Build (option 99).
If one of you have a Linux hosting provider with shell and cron access we can also set up a cronjob to create nightly releases automating this for us.
onicrom had written a script for me to generate these for my Warm Z nightlies that we can reuse, assuming we have a host.
Let me know if you have questions.

HISTORY
TrackMe is the conversion of the popular tool written originally for Windows Mobile 5 and 6. This version of Windows Phone 7 still doesn't have all the features than the original one, but if people keep interested I will continue adding them periodically. You can find the original thread for TrackMe here
WHAT IS TRACKME?
TrackMe is a GPS tracker. It uses the location services on your phone to retrieve your current position. That information is later used for displaying tracks (realtime or pre-recorded) with Google Earth, Google Maps or other tools.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
TrackMe uploads your data to a server. If you don't have an internet connection or you prefer not to use it while you are tracking, you can store your data locally on your phone and upload it later when an internet connection is available. You can use my server (free of charge) for uploading your data. TrackMe is already configured to use this server by default.
HOW CAN I VIEW MY DATA?
Once your data is uploaded you can view it by going to http://luisespinosa.com/trackme and using the web viewer for Google Maps developed by the community. You can also export your data to a KML or GPX file and use Google Earth or any other tool that accepts that format. Remember that you cannot view or export your data until is has been uploaded to the server.
WHAT'S NEXT?
As I mentioned there are still many features that are not available for WP7 yet. If there is enough demand I will keep working on this tool. Some of these features are the ability to upload pictures (extracting the GPS data and match them with your existing positions), force updates with your own custom icons and comments, extended trip summary information, send your location by email/sms, Geofence and many more.
I hope you enjoy this tool. If you have any comments or want to contribute please use one of the links located in the About screen.

If you guys like TrackMe, do you think you can help me by promoting the app by writing some reviews in the WP7 marketplace? You don't have to give me 5 stars, just what you consider to be fair.
There is a guy who just uploaded an app called Track_Me that has nothing to do with me and he posted a negative comment for mine. It just says 'so bad'.
Very stupid doing that, because it's so easy to trace it and find out he is a developer.
Thanks
I've been using TrackMe on my HTC Touch Cruise for a long time and have been very happy with it.
But nowadays I'm using an Android phone and haven't found anything working quite as well as TrackMe did. I guess you haven't got any plans to also produce an Android version?

I have tried changing to those regional settings and I don't get the error.
I think the problem is with your MySQL database. I have the impression that the old TrackMe sends the lat/long like x.xxxxx
This new version may send more decimals. Maybe you can make some changes on your MySQL server to accept more. That should resolve the problem.
Please let me know if you try. Thanks
This error only seems to happen to people using their own servers. If the server is configured to use regional settings that uses a comma instead of a dot, it will cause this problem.
At this moment I don't know when I will fix that problem. I thought it was going to be a quick fix but after trying it seems to be something very delicate so I will have to spend more time on it.
So far I haven't seen too much interest on TrackMe for WP7, so I don't plan to fix this problem for now, specially because only happens to people using their own servers.
If people start showing more interest in the future for this app, this will be the first fix that I will include in the next version.
Sorry about that!
This is the reason I am considering VERY STRONGLY to go WP7
I have been waiting to make the move from WM6.5 to either Android or WP7 and now that I have seen this, I am very strongly leaning towards WP7 finally, I bike and this app makes it possible for my family to see where I am and see if something may have gone terribly wrong or even find my phone if it were to fall. I would love for this app to continue to be developed very much.
Just wanted to let you know there are a few of us WP7 users that are wanting this app and wanting to tell you THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!
Larry

If anyone wants to help me work on it (it's written in applescript; because I'm lazy) let me know and I'll send you the project, Just when you make improvements and add more, send me updated files.
Beta testers will also be needed soon!!!!!
UPDATE~
I've been working hard on this to get it out ASAP except I'm having a massive problem with trying to run a command and letting the user choose the Unlock_code.bin themselves.
I was thinking of packaging it as just a shell script until I was done with the GUI but if anyone knows applescript (or their way around with xcode, we could make it a bit more powerful) please PM me.
UPDATE 2~
So I made the shell script ready for everyone. try it out and let me know how it works.
1. keep in mind you're doing this at your own risk!
2. this isn't the full program. ALL this will do is root your device! if you want the full program I'd suggest waiting!
I am on a Mac, don't know apple script but I could help out. Tired of using my wifes computer. Let me know what I can do.

As far as the actual app, are you going to just save as an app from within Apple Script Editor? (I am a little familiar I guess). So maybe an .icns package might be needed as well?

I will present a few ideas, we can narrow down, refine, and go from there. I have all the software I need, and developer tools, so .icns are no problem (I change and modify mine all the time). Your more than welcome to some psd's and whatever I create though. I have a few client priorities but will start laying some things out in between projects.
I'm not a developer, but am a Mac user and would love to test this =)
I'm completely sick of having to borrow someone's computer for this.
Update!

I could just code a native Mac app to do this if everyone wants it that badly.

This sounds good to me, but it's obviously zac-attacks brainchild/passion project, so that's probably for him to decide.
In other news, my wife was in a minor car-accident Friday evening (she's fine) but my spare time decreased even more, so I don't know how involved or helpful I can be, or when.
Also, I got your PM Qberty, and will get back to you soon, things have been a little hectic. I'm not blowing you off; just FYI.
On a positive note, I picked up my Vivid today, and its pretty amazing, can't wait to alter it.

And alrighty then, let me know when you're up for it.

What is the reason everyone's hankering to get as many thanks as possible on xda????

The less thanks you have the better. It's an indication of how little you know. Usually people that don't know much will have high number of thanks.
Of course we thanked them but it was like we were pushed to thanked them

It used to be a juvenile status thing, but it's an accepted practice now apparently....
I feel sad for people who ask for thanks in each and every post and don't usually thank them if they explicitly ask for it.I feel that it has to be earned rather than coerced
I usually thank if the post is well explained, or if it makes me laugh
Yeah I thank when I get a chuckle out of someone's post. I don't understand why everybody keeps asking for them.
wow and i just thought it was a way to over compensate for having a small peener or small fun bags... (ok not-so-fun bags since they are small...)
I see it more of as a remainder than a forceful act and also to reduce unnecessary posts which only include thanks. And once you get your answer you don't even bother to say thanks even after being reminded,Like maximum members will not say or click thanks by using a ROM from certain modder/developer.
I think that's just human tendency to do so.
Anyways one click wouldn't really matter but then again its up to you.
I would rather click it for anybody who helps me in anyway.
I think this forum should be used for something more creative than such useless discussions.
We get a lot of support and learning for free from here, I say its equally important that we respect the place.

+1 For that
If you want to get help and someone with 2 or 3 thanks answers and then there is answer from another guy who says exactly the opposite but he got let say 200 or 300 thanks, then who would you believe is right or more trustworthy?
What's more some people invest their time, to create things, to upload things or even search for things if others are not good in it or sometimes even too lazy to do this by themselves. Pressing thanks doesn't hurt In the end nobody is forcing you to do it. If someone asks for it, then treat it like a gentle reminder to express your gratitude.
Thanks meter is a human tool that indicates gratitude for someone
In straight words guys:
If i had a severe problem, and someone help me to solve it,i will not mind thank him a thousand times regardless of his no of posts or thanks or status... come-on people its not money, its a human thing that make thousands of people continue helping others, just say thanks to who help u,by button by a post by a pic or even buy a pm it doesnot matter the way, just say it and dont be selfish
↖(^▽^)↗ Sent from Rego Galaxy Note ↖(^▽^)↗
Thanks button as a tool reduces number of unnecessary posts. Thanks meter gives indication as to the poster's reliability. Rest is up too individual users, some may indeed perceive the number as a social status indicator and pursue higher rankings, some may ignore it. Still it doesn't matter, as long as the mutual help happens.

I appreciate the sarcastic tone, but what to say about majority of people who really contributed something here, like chamonix (2064 now) or dr ketan (1629 now), and numerous others ?

Thanks everyone!
Edit: to give some meaning to this post. To me, a little thank you is just an incentive to keep on trying to be helpfull. It doesn't even have to be the Thanks button, a simple "thanks, it worked" or "thanks for the info" is just nice to read if you take the time to try and help someone.

Why are you posting here? Your thanks count is ridiculously high and that clearly indicates that you can't tell your arse from your elbow.

Now, where's my thong..
(I would thank that post, but i'm out of thanks for today)
Isnt it just to say thanks without actually writing thanks and flooding a thread with pages upon pages of thanks? Thats what i always thought.
Hello XDA !!
Now I know what you guys are thinking... (I don't care a damn if you are caring an Android site. There are millions of Android sites and we don't need more)
Well... I want to create a unique Android site relating to Android apps. I want to create a site which reviews android apps in their respective category.
For example.. the title's would be like Best Android Web Browser.
The site would help newbie Androiders to figure out which app was the best for their need (email, web surfing, etc) and for this audacious project I need some help.
I am looking for people who are experts on Android apps and also people who know about making websites (design, SEO). If you cannot help out directly then please give some advice.
One of things I hate about sites are ads. That is why I will keep my site ad free !!! I want everyone to know that I am truly an Android fan and that is why I am creating this site. Unfortunately, since the site will not be taking in any money I also wont be able to pay you any money. I am going to spending money hosting the site.
I realize its still a work in progress but it will be improving everyday.
The site is called
http://appdigy.com
In short I need ALL help but I could especially use help in:
HTML
Graphics
Writing Articles
SEO
Post here if you can help out... Every little bit counts
While it's ambitious and not a bad idea, I'm pretty sure it's against XDA rules to talk about any outside/competitor sites that would take adtraffic from XDA. That said I would be willing to write up a couple articles just for the heck of it.

This is okay - he's not breaking any rules. Other websites have been started by groups formed on xda before now. As long as they're not creating something similar to xda (a mobile development forum for devices similar to ones we support or will support), and as long as they're not trying to make money out of posting here then it's not against the rules.
That being said, I don't think someone who joined the site a few days ago and has only 1 post has enough reputation to expect a particularly favourable response. I suggest that Super2cool gets involved with the forum a bit more and gets familiar with what goes on here before expecting to recruit other users.

The site doesn't compete with XDA in anyway. My site focuses on a specific niche within android apps while XDA is more about phones and android ROMS. Nevertheless, I could use your help

I truly see where you are coming. I know its only been a few days since I joined the site and I know I don't have enough posts. I have been trying to get familiar with the site and so I haven't been posting much and have been reading on XDA. I have realized that the people on XDA are very cool and smart.
