Sounds like webOS was updated =)
Yep, just reinstall via ACMEInstaller.

a computer repair shop that i have delt with foe about 4 years .

if you do the secure erase/wipe within WebOS, moboot should re-appear. worked for me anyways. It's in the device info->reset options->secure full erase. All your stuff on the SD card will be gone too. So back up anything important prior to doing so or you may need to do a factory reset/wipe in CWM.

Then get them to fix it. No offense, but if you weren't able to install it yourself in the first place, then chances are high that you won't be able to repair this yourself either without loosing all of your data.

If he has no moboot , he might find it hard to get into CWM

Thus the point of the Secure Erase, which brings back "moboot & android".
In my case, I updated my touchpad to the 3.0.5, lost android/moboot. Didn't care, as my usb port died, case had cracks, sent in to HP for warranty. As a last ditch effort to revive the usb port thinking it may work again, did the secure erase. Like magic, android was back. But, if you still have your webOS activated and accessible you can backup your SD card contents for anything android. Such as Titanium backup, media, anything that android uses.
To clarify, back up anything important prior to doing so or "you may need to do a factory reset/wipe in CWM", afterwards, as all SD card contents will be erased upon using the Secure Erase option.

this touchpad has no sd card, do some have an sd slot ?

He's talking about the internal storage that we commonly call SD storage. You should take it to that PC store and have them get you back on track.

[Q] CM9, Encryption, and Locked SD Card

So I installed CM9 on my TouchPad, Alpha 0.6. It's been running fine for close to two weeks. I went to turn it on after it had been sitting and charging (it was at no lower than 60% when I hooked it up), and it wouldn't turn on. I tried all combinations of holding down the various buttons nothing worked. Then, out of the blue, while trying to figure out that problem, it held down power and it turned on.
So it started booting into ICS, but instead of the home screen, it said that the encryption failed or something, and that I had to do a factory reset. I booted into CWM, and tried everything, including re-installing from zip, installing Alpha 2 from the zip, wiping the SD card, doing a factory reset...everything. Every time, I go back into the SD card and all the folders are still there. That's making me think that the SD card was locked by ICS somehow, and now isn't letting go, and as such, nothing can wipe the system.
Any ideas for a fix to this? I love CM9 on the TouchPad, but...this sucks.
Wow, nothing, eh? I've tried everything I can think of; the tablet is getting stuck at 12% when I try to run WebOS Doctor (and yes, I've tried every "stuck at 12%" trick I could find), and in general, it appears that writing to any part of the device is locked. I guess I'm going to warranty return it back to HP, unless anyone can think of something brilliant.
Can you boot to webos, maybe if you take the sd card out? If you can, do a full secure factory reset. Also try formatting the sd card (backup your files to your PC). You should try with another sd card also . If these don't work I guess HP warranty is the way to go. Take the sd card out before you send it back. Good luck.
Thanks for replying.
Yeah, I can boot into WebOS, but any changes I make there don't keep (i.e. if I install an app and reboot, it's gone when I get back). There isn't actually an SD card in the TouchPad, the internal memory just gets partitioned and made into an "SD Card", so that's out.
Probably just going to have to send it back...
Duhh! I knew about the sd card and the TP, I was thinking about my cell phone.
Try calling HP's butler service. I've been lucky, the guy I talked to was knowledgeable, but I've read that you can get someone who's useless.

[Q] Formatting Internal Storage

I think I may have a brick on my hands. Is there a way to format my internal storage through adb or other methods? the phone works, sort of, but the internal storage is not recognized by the system and no changes can be made to it by programs or my recovery. Wiping the SD card through various methods does nothing, even the Droid 4 Utility goes through the steps "successfully" but the phone shows no changes. Is there a way to treat the phone like a hard drive and just wipe the entire thing? Thanks for your input.

It sounds like maybe the internal storage is set to read only. Use root explorer or something similar and check to see if if that is the case and change it if need be.

thanks for the reply. i tried this and having the same result. this is the strangest thing i've ever seen. while the phone is on everything i try looks "successful" but as soon as the phone reboots it's like it forgot. this probably just means the changes never took place but for some reason everything looks like it works when it is on. now i have a basic phone that can make and receive calls, no other apps can be used, launched, deleted, etc.

[Q] Newbie- Need Help with Droid 3

Hello. I am new on this forum and I am looking for help. I am by no means any type of programmer, so please be kind, and if you can help me great. Right now I can use some help.
I have owned a Droid 3 since July 2011. I have never done any type of stuff correlated to the operating system on the phone. The phone has worked great, up until this past Saturday (09/28/2013). In the afternoon, the phone literally went from working fine, to only being on the "Motorola Dual Core Technology" Screen, and nothing else.
I have searched across a number of forums and ran across others who have experienced this issue as well. I have talked to Verizon idiots in the store as well as their tech support with no success.
I have read about starting the phone up with the X key and the Power Button, to get the Android Logo on screen and then to the Android Recovery where you can Reboot the phone, Clear the Cache Partition, etc. I have done all of these Multiple times... I have not done a factory reset as of yet.
At this point, I am eligible for an upgrade from Verizon anyway... BUT- I still have a ton of photos and videos that are on the internal memory of the phone. The few pictures that I had on my SD card, I have since moved those over to my computer. The SD card is currently empty.
Is there anyway that I can get a copy of the Operating System to load up onto the SD card, and choose the Reboot from SD card on the Android Screen to get my phone to start up so that I can get my pictures and videos off of it? Before Saturday I was able to plug my phone into the computer and the phone was recognized as a device...now the driver is not even recognized by the computer.
In my own opinion, it sounds like something in the Operating System of the phone got corrupted. As I mentioned, I am far from being a computer programmer, so any type of "Deep" computer language; it is over my head... this is why I am asking if there is a copy of the Operating System or Kernel, etc. that I can load onto the SD card, and then put the SD Card into the phone and go the Android Menu to Boot from the SD card, to see if I can get the phone to actually start up....
My apologies if I have not used any correct terminology but hopefully someone here can help me. At this point, I don't even want to use this phone anymore and I am ready to move onto another Droid devce. I just want to know if there is someway that I can get my pictures and videos off of the phone before doing the dreaded last resort of a factory reset. I have 2 years of my life in pictures on that phone... some of which may or may not be backed up on Verizon's servers....
Any help would kindly and greatly be appreciated.
Look, if you do a factory reset or "wipe data" from the recovery you'll lose just the apps, the settings and everything "OS related". Personal data will be untouched at 99%, i can affirm this because i wiped about a million times and always with personal data stored into the internal storage... if you're not fine with this you could try an SBF (a reinstallation of the stock OS, to be short) without wiping (i don't even know if it's possible or SAFE, but in theory you can try) and maybe it could fix the os problem you have... and if it doesn't go well, you could still wipe it!
I'll search the method to reflash the 5.6.890 update, and i'll post the link!
EDIT: Here's the link, be careful! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686911

repartitioned and now have half bricked touchpad

hi,
prior to today i had a cm9 + webos touchpad.
i did a lot of stupid things today, some accidental, some carelessly
now all my restore backups are gone (the worst that happened)
my cm9 still boots up.........., but i have 16gig of my 32gig touchpad "damaged"
and my webOS does still boot up, just that it takes about a good 40 min........
-----------------------------------------------
it all started when i decided i wanted to upgradd to Evervolv AOSP Android 4.3.1 JB (20131110)
before i began i wanted to make sure i have 512mb boot alloted, i followed and flashed the zip file
update-cm-tenderloin-system_resize_512-0.4.zip
but it didn't work, so i tried this other repartition zip from the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477806
sys_512mb_data_plus_16384mb-signed.zip
and now i can't get anything downloaded to do anymore upgrading because i don't have a sdcard established
---------------------------------------------------------------
i need a solution, but it must not involve using the micro usb port and a computer. that port has been dead for about a year now (which is why i didn't bother upgrade all this time)
anyone got a solution?
Have you tried using the WebOS program called Tailor? Tailor can resize partitions and attempts to 'fix' errors.
Do you guys know if tailor formats anything if i add space to my system partition?

Unable to Mount Internal SD

This from a real noob, but I thought I would solict some additional input if there is some trick I have missed on my problem.
Since installing CM 10 on my Vivid, everything has worked well except the fact my internal SD has gone away. Based on stuff I have read here I have tried the following:
1. Factory Reset - no help
2. Mount drive using installed recovery, CWM - No Help
3. Install TWRP recover and try that, no help
4, Try various apps from Play Store, No Help
At this point it seems best to me to return the phone to factory state and see if the internal card is there, if it is, unlock the boat loader, install TWRP recover, then flash the rom, then boot imate (s on) and hope it works.
Any app that requires root and access to all the drives errors out.
A large group thanks to all of you who post so much info on the phone, and how to do things.
I assume you've tried mounting Internal SD in the Settings/Storage menu?

Internal Mounting
Thanks for reminding me about this, but yes, I have tried it numerous times but it doesn't work. A bit frustrating since it keeps me from storing certain stuff or using some rooted apps. Unless I find some other way, I will give the restore option a try in a few days when I get home.
Appreciate the reply.

My guess... Is you did a reset from fastboot...
If that is the case... I recommend getting twrp... Installing that... Mounting both storages in recovery... Then hook to your windows PC... And let windows format your internal SD...
After a reboot... Your phone will either mount your internal... Or offer to format it again... At which point it will work...
Unless we are talking about apps2sd in CM11...

As far as I know I did not reset from fastboot, but I have been in that mode a good number of times, so it is very possible.
I replaced CWM recover with TWRP and it would not allow me to mount the internal card, but the phone booted up OK, just no internal card. So I tried another factory reset and while in TWRP I noticed I was also getting a "can't mount /emmc/" message. Phone still boots up ok and works except for apps requiring access to the internal card.
I ran across some reference to a recovery called aroma something that is supposed to help with this problem, but am not sure it will work with my phone, still researching that.
So maybe this is pretty good evidence I did screw up and reset from fastboot?
I figure I am going to have to restore the phone to factory status, and start over, but I will wait to see if there any other suggestions.
Thanks again for the feedback.

Ok...
You were close...
Don't mount internal for twrp...
Mount as USB mass storage in the same menu...
Then connect to windows...
