No GSM UMTS doesn't work with Open Mobile. (Sprint's phones might). Nothing you can do will make it run. Your in luck, Captivate sells anywhere from $130-$180 in PR use Clasificadosonline.com GL
Edit: Yes Spring phones use same freq as Open. Regardless you need Open Mobile to activate it for you.
How did you get GB 3.2.5 to root?

It's not nice to hijack other peoples threads with new, unrelated questions.
Plenty of threads on how to do it:

Down and dirty:
Flash corn kernel with ODIN
Reboot to recovery
Find install root in menu
Install root
Reboot
You can then flash back to stock kernel or stay on corn

Hi,
I'm in NY at the moment but I'm headed back to Australia later in the week. The AT&T Galaxy Tab is $649 and the Telstra version is $840. I gather that SIM unlocking either version is not a problem. I spend a fair bit of time in both places. As the Telstra version has voice enabled, I was wondering if it's possible to simply flash the Telstra firmware onto the AT&T Tab? Would this cause any issues? Would it then be essentially an identical device to the Telstra sold tab?
Thanks.
It looks like you will be the first to find out. Sorry couldn't help mate

Find us Telstra firmware and we can at least test that the phone works here in some way.
I posted a similar Q a while ago. I want to flash my T-mobile Tab into a generic Euro (GT-P1000). After that I would like it to work with upgrades through Kies etc.
If I just understood the risks or pro/cons I would go.
I bought the telstra tab. It is unlocked out of the box and has voice enabled. It uses the same bands as att. So I am guess ing this firmware would work fine on an att tab.

It should, but please follow my backup thread and backup your existing firmware before you flash the Euro firmware. Someone, maybe even you, may need it someday.
I don't think I will need to flash any other firmware. The telstra firmware has voice calling and side loading enabled out of the box. It is also sim unlocked. I should be able to put my att sim in, change the apn and go!

Did you have the same firmware as mine? If yes which file did u use to upgrade to gingerbread?
Thanks
I'm using Overcome 2.0: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
Just follow the guide exactly, you will need to flash the modem.bin it recommends for Tmobile.
This doesn't touch the folder where the unlock file resides.
I have flashed 2 roms since unlocking and still unlocked.
Mainly iam interested in the stock rom 2.3.3

I have. Works fine.
I have also. Works fine. Also it gets rid of that annoying white tmobile screen. Yes!
I have been trying to get rid of that for 4 months.
Before you flash, check the threads for changes in 2.2 to 2.3.3
It is a diff system. Key lights never go out now,
different (worse) taskmanager. You can no longer clear two levels of ram. Some other changes.
Different (worse) download manager. You can no longer see progress its now done or not done.
It is gingerbread so the browser screen has that annoying bounce floating window thing. It annoying also. Makes repositioning or scrolling a browser window a hit or miss.
You are gonna have to flash our tmobile modem.bin to get 3g back.
Interestingly enough, now when I put my g2 sim in here i get internet. Its faster than my tabs 3g according to speedtest.net. It used to take me to that prepaid site.
I am using overcome beta 1 also.
Also apps needing 2.3.3 work now.
Search the threads for more info
Hit the thanks button if I have helped.

I bought a Galaxy Note 4 and the seller said it is a t-mobile phone.
He said it is unlocked and I am using this phone with AT&T.
However, I am having doubts that this is actually a t-mobile phone:
1. When I startup phone, there is no T-Mobile logo screen.
2. There are no T-Mobile apps preinstalled on the phone, except for Mobile Hotspot app.
3. I do not see Wi-Fi Calling feature in the settings list.
I am confused because of this info:
Model Number: SM-910T
Baseband Version: N910TUVU1ANIH
Build Number: N910T-RAC-CONVERSA-ITEP.2014.10.10.1645
Based on the above information, can anyone help me determine which carrier this phone belongs to? Thanks.
Also I used an app to check if the phone was rooted. It says NOT ROOTED.

No, you don't need root in order to flash stock rom...
If you want root and everything, someone did this awesome guide here: (who ever did that guide is awesome!)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...sy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733
If you just want to flash stock rom and nothing else...
Just download the latest rom:

and flash it using Odin (use the root guide above as reference on how to use Odin)

I have this same phone. Got it brand new from rent a center. My theory is rac gets different model number phones then flashes a conversion rom to unlock the phone and remove carrier bloatware ect. It uses Net10 service which in my area runs off ATT towers. The carrier name on my status bar is ATT. The device status also says custom not official. My question is. ..what root method and which roms are compatible with this phone and will I still have service after I flash a rom?
Why is his missing the "N" in front of 910T ?
Mine has the N

Are people still working on cracking the AT&T G870A or is it a lost cause?
If yes, how's it going?
I had a G870F but sent it swimming on 20m deep for three weeks. Needless to say it didn't survive.
Found the G870A and thought it was a bargain, however . . .
Pretty much a lost cause, most devs have moved on.
So the answer is not so straight forward. The current v 5.1 and above for the AT&T phones are not currently rootable. If you find a used or remanufactured S5 or S5 Active with 4.2 you will be in luck. I just had a problem with my Active found a replacement on the most popular buying and selling web site for around $230. Just make sure it has not been updated. If the seller is advertising it as 4.2 and you get it with 5.0 they must take it back if it's not what was advertised. Hope this helps.
If you want an S5 to tinker with you should get a tmobile variant the SM-G900T, or the international SM-G900M since the active model is basically a carrier exclusive they dont have any international ones that im aware of.
I dont understand the question of OP
I used a popular search and found rooted firmwares for the 870A.
Several people who replied have in their sigs that they have a rooted s5 Active..... I would think that to mean the phone has been "cracked" and isn't a lost cause.

so its isn't the android version per say bu the bootloader that comes with it?
So one couldn't just flash a 5.0 firmware, is that what you're also saying?
pardon my ignorance, but when one flashes a firmware -- that wont impact the bootloader will it...

When you update the firmware, it automatically updates the bootloader. Once that bootloader has been updated, it's locked down. No downgrading firmwares, rooting, or installing custom recoveries.

Yeah, that's basically what I gathered after a lot of research online.
Some claim it can be done but when trying the method/software, it doesn't work.
I just wanted to double check since there is a lot of expert knowledge in this forum.
One thing i've been thinking though (not that I can do it): how about picking the phone apart
and wiping/replacing the bootloader manually?

Both are locked down. AT&T and Samsung are being jerks to us and not even letting us have a developer phone to try to use like Verizon had.

If you are looking to root, then buy one that still has Android v4.4.2. They are available you just have to look for them. Don't put the SIM card in until you root or it will auto update and you can't go back.

Nope can't because of locked bootloader. The best thing you could do is too root with towelroot and then flash safestrap and install a custom rom from there.
