[Q] Opening Gallery is Slow - LG Revolution

Just wanted to see if anyone is having trouble with this. I have all my pics stored on an SD card and every once in a while, when i try to open the stock gallery app, it takes a long time (sometimes up to 15-20s) to come back.
i originally thought it was slow sd card. I upgraded sd card to class 10 and still see the issues. FYI...AnTuTu benchmark has SD Card write/read at 14.8MB/s and 17.5MB/s respectively.
Has anyone seen this before?

Haven't had that issue yet. Did you try to clear the program cache?

I have this happen a lot too. I don't think it takes as long as 15-20 seconds but it takes a whlie to load up the first time. Then when I got back to the gallery it's pretty instant. I'm guessing cuz it's already loaded up. I think O/Cing it helps with the load time.

it did help after OC'ing. and i still get it even after i have previously loaded the gallery.
yes, i've cleared out the cache too.

That's weird. Do you have Rom Toolbox? Maybe try applying the SD card boost and see if that helps. It shouldn't be taking you that long every time. Maybe the first time it loads but after when you open it up again in a couple minutes it should be much faster.

just freeze the gallery and download quickpic, waaaay better

installed spc_hicks's tweak and seems to be working better now.

i'll try other apps

Mine would take upwards of a minute sometimes to get all my galleries loaded. Manually (through settings) would unmount and remount and that seemed to help. Never figured out why, silly phone...

I agree with revo... QuickPic is soooo much better and faster. Free from the market.

[Q] What lag?

I've been reading all over these forums about a lagfix that is available, but I can't figure out why I need it. My Captivate seems incredibly fast in everything it does, including reading files off of very slow cards. Is there a way I can see this supposed lag manifest itself?
Run a crapload of apps on the phone. and then see if it comes up. You can even try to install more than 50 apps and see if it comes up. Not sure why you would wanna do this though
Tried that. I started up 22 different apps, one of which was Google Earth, then opened up a HD video to play. Not so much as a hiccup. And I only have a class 2 SD card.
I guess I should be glad that I have no discernible lag to fix.
There are a couple situations I have seen like adding things to the home screen and wakeup lag. Other than that the problem sneaks up during quadrant benchmarks causing the phone to hang really bad. The lag fix works but isn't gonna make it faster in every day situations other than the one or two places it acts up.

Ohh I got it! Try to install more than 5 small apps at a time from the market. It always just hangs while they get installed
Sent from my phone so excuse the spelling errors
i barely noticed it too.. but I installed lagfix anyway lol .. as you keep using your phone more.. after you use the fix.. and revert back.. you somewhat notice differences in speed.. maybe it's just all in my head though

[Q] Video Recording Freezes

I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, my OB seems to freeze 9 out 10 times I try to record something, everything's stock and I haven't changed anything, using adw launcher and whenever I press the record button, it freezes and the timer stays at 0.00 and about a minute later it would skip to 1.00 and the video would be recorded with major stutters and off sync sounds, I'd have to perform a battery pull sometimes as it does not respond to anything at all. Using a class 10 Transcend 16 GB sd and I have formatted the card through the phone but the problem's still there. The problem comes and goes and it seems to work best when I allow it to focus before recording but this does not work most of the time.
Edit: Only happens in 720p mode... Other than that, everything's fine...
Same thing also hapening on my device
Might be related to your actual SD card. Any chance you can get a spare card for a couple of days (even if it is a lower-class one) and try out the recording function? this way you could safely say if it is the card or the phone causing the issue (process of elimination)
Im having this problem too, and i use class 10 card

Try to upgrade the V10X version.
Figured something out, formatted my sd with SD formatter and recorded 3 720p 5 minute videos, smooth without stuttering... And the issue seems to be gone for now... Hope it stays this way... Also, back up any stuff in the card and once it's done formatting, take a pic to let android create the necessary files and copy everything apart from the files created... You can keep your apps and files this way... If you need to have pics in your phone, just put them anywhere but the DCIM folder... I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem at all but that's what I did... Hope this helps
XDA doesn't let me post outside links lol... New user here...
Just search for SD Formatter 3.0 from sdcard.org...

[Q] Extremely slow, everything

I was deleting apps and files, no problem. And I think I was going so fast that maybe I hit delete all be accident when I was trying to delete google talk and EVERYTHING is deleted. My phone when black except for the notification bar, the phone was still charging and my F Secure program was going crazy keeping the memory card and all.
I just stayed like that for about 30 seconds and the screen blank except for the status bar and finally it slowly came back. First my back ground, then the apps. First it was slow and about 2 minutes it is back to normal, EXCEPT...
Now when I go into ES File Explorer, everything is gone, it says that ll my folders are empty. I pulled the battery and restarted and things seem to be extremely slow now. But I do have my list back and everything is fine but very slow.
How do I fix this?
You could have wrong rights on folders. If you have CWM then reboot into it and then go to Advanced and there should be an option to "fix permissions" or something. Use it and it should be fine (at least it should not make things worse ).
Bringing this back to life because I notice there is a big problem. My phone is EXTREMELY slow. It takes about 10 seconds to open every single app. Right when I got Gingerbread it was extremely fast, but after the incident happened above its very slow.
Even scrolling through my list of apps, which is a small list, it is very slow and does not scroll smoothly. Whats going on?
Have you got a Custom Rom or do you use Stock Rom?

100% stock, besides being rooted.
Funny thing, I started deleting more apps, and I deleted a 3G counter and it seems to have made things faster now. But we'll see how it goes. With this phone, it seems its fast one day but slow another. Presently, it is fast again.
Thanks for the reply though. Avoid the program Onavo, it would take about 10 seconds to type one word in a SMS. Sorry for crying wolf again.
Why not flashing a decent (custom) ROM?
Time for a full flash lol

[Q]Why every ICS rom becomes slow after some time

i tried almost every ics rom and at start they all were very fast but after some time they become much much slow. any solution for this
Can this be because of your installed applications and overall system debris.

No not like that. I installed vry few apps but stil it gets slow. I tried Docs rom, slim rom even every 1 but they all get slow after some time. I always do full wipe and than instal clean fresh rom

How much time passes before the system starts to run slower?

Try restarting your phone, wiping up all the cache. Maybe this might help.

I have exactly the same problem. Wiping cashe through CWM doesn't change anything, it still gets slower after a few hours or a day max.
I have SE xperia neo v, rooted, unlocked bootloader, rom pureness 11, kernel nightelf 1.4. It gets so slow it actually refreshes/crashes (not sure) ex launcher pro and I can't do anything but reboot. Then everything is great and very fast at the beginning and then gets slower.
There is about 70mb RAM both at the beginning and later when it gets slow so I suppose it's not the full ram problem? CPU is also mostly free, I check if games are not running in background so that is not the problem as well. Internal space: about 85mb free and a few GB free on SD.
I have lots of apps installed (about 50) but I think it would slow my mobile from the very beginning after reboot?
Any advice?
I'm no expert on these devices, but I can tell you what I do to help with this problem... I simply hold the home button down until the recent apps show and then slide them off the screen. My phone runs OK for a few hours until I rinse and repeat...

Thanks, I will try it when the phone gets slow again and let you know it it helped.
Edit:
Nope, that's not it at all. Deleted everything from recent apps the way you told. Go launcher EX is right now turning on and off constantly, most of apps that are usually open have long since closed themselves. I have to reboot, there's nothing else I can do.
Edit 2:
I have deleted a few apps that I don't or rarely use and 4/5 of games I had. It stopped crashing my launcher and I don't have to reboot anymore. So I guess it was just too many apps and games (unless on the way I've done sth else that helped that I'm not aware of).

Camera lags and freezes

Does anyone else have this problem? I get a lot of lag and the screen freezes several times after opening the camera. Sometimes the phone freezes upon pushing the shutter button also.
The storage location is set to SD. I had to change it a while back; the phone would completely freeze when trying to save a video to internal memory. I had to power it down.
I am rooted but on the stock rom. I have removed some ATT bloat, but otherwise all stock.

I've been thinking that or low read_ahead_kb values....or the sd just needs to be formatted. Fat is a crappy and easily corruptible file system.
//We could be using ext2, since ya know, Windows has ext2 drivers and all, but using a Linux based files system on a Linux based devices just doesn't make sense.
//PAC suffers from low read_ahead_kb values.....
Yes, I think a simple format will fix it...
