Need help to reflash 901 - Motorola Droid Bionic

Ok I have no idea why or what I did but I can't add a new contact, my contact storage force closes. I have not deleted any of my files that I know of and all bloat is unfrozen. Everything else works calls and changing exisitng contacts I just can't add any new contacts. So I am on .901 with 4everroot and want to reinstall the full system to see if I can fix my contacts. Since the pathsaver came out I am unsure what to use. I guess I want to go back to the full 893 then 4everroot again. Do I need to FXB to 893 then apply the forever root and update to 901. If so can you guys attach links to what I need much appreciated.

I think you could FXZ back to stock... But I am unsure.
Pathsaver should work though.
How to use pathsaver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufnDSFi4glo

I don't think you can use pathsaver from 901 but my other question? does the pathsaver give you the whole file like FXZ does. I need to find out what I did to screw up creating new contacts so I figure a whole new system download will fix it. I am downloading the 856 FXZ now and going to rsd it back to stock forever root and then take the 893 update then push the 901. Does this make sense or am I complicating things.

I used the path saver to go back down and up again. Make sure you have the .886 radio file on your SD card, you'll need it. Also, you'll need the cdt.bin file (.901fix) at the bottom of the path saver link.
Have you just tried to reflash the .901? Oh, it probably won't work since it verifies the .893 system.

Thanks for the responses I figured it out and got back to 901 rooted but wasted 4 hours getting my phone set up again. But I can add contacts now so all is good. I FXZ to 893 and just put the cdt.bin from 901 in the 893 file and rezipped it Rsd lite had no problem loading it and then I manually forever rooted and downloaded the 901 file and manually installed it and kept root. Damn I wish they would unlock the friggin bootloader so we don't have to waste so much time and jump through all these hoops.

Issues!!! HELP PLEASE!

Ok, so heres the deal. Was on stock rooted 886 w/o permaroot, and my dumbass did the OTA 893 update. Lost root, so I used R3l3AS3DRoot and did a Restore, Root, & For3v3r root. This brought my system back to 886, but from what I've gathered, my kernel and radio are still 893? My issue is, now I cant update at all, to 893 or 901 (basically what I want to do is run Eclipse V2.0 .901 Patched thats posted Here. I've tried this and the update still fails. I've also tried updating straight to 901 due to the fact that my kernel and radio are supposedly still 893 since I did that stupid ass OTA update. Am I screwed, or is there something else I can do?
BTW, I did get the Eclipse V2.0 901 Patched to install on my safe boot partition with bootstrap recovery, but I had absolutely NO DATA. I even tried moving the 901's system/lib files and still nata. I'm assuming this is due to the fact that the kernel and radio are still 893?
try the pathsaver method by p3droid. first go your sd-ext and remove any updates that are their or it will not push the ones you need. there is a vid out there somewhere on how to but it is pretty easy just read all instructions

The point of BIONICPathSaver?

I may be a noob but what exactly is the point of this. I keep both update.zip's on my sd card(893,901). I just tried this. Im on stock 5.5.886 rooted. booted in stock recovery and applied both updates. Now im on .901 and still rooted. I didnt get the cdt.bin error or anything. What is BIONICPATHSAVER supposed to do?
From my understanding, its an extra string of security that keeps root open. I did the same thing and it worked. But my first attempt wasnt soo lucky. I ended up bricking my bionic. No worries though, i used my motorola limited warranty. Now i just have my verizon warranty left

The point of this tool is to save your ass.
it can be and should be used to go from a pre 901 rom to a 901 rom as well as helping you unbrick your phone.
I needed it to go from liberty 2.0 to eclipse 2.1
Primarily its for people who got off the update path via cheesecake updates. It returns you to the upgrade path so that you can once again receive the OTA updates. Atleast thats my understand of it.
you will need it if you ever want to go back down to 5.5.893.
It was created for people that loaded 5.7.893 or 5.5.894 that were off the update path. If they release ICS for 5.5.893 and not for 5.5.901 at the same time, you may want to go back to get ICS.

[Q] Bionic CDT issues after reverting back to stock

I have been all over this place with my bionic. I have tried 901 and went back to 893 using saver and other methods. The tools seem to do the job. My problem is trying to install an update from verizon. It will download and get to the end of the install, but then I get stuck in a failed fastboot with cdt errors. I am able to fix that using the Fixcdt, but every time my phone reboots I have to force it out of fastboot and into normal startup.. I have searched high and low and have found little bits of info out there, but nothing that has nailed it. Does anybody have the answer that I am looking for?
Thanks for they help!
You won't be able to install it. Since you have the .901 cdt.bin on your phone, you will need that file with anything you load until you have the "soon to be official" .902.
To install the official Big Red OS (which is no different than the ones floating on here) you will need to be on 5.5.886. You will need to download it to your phone, then move that to your PC, unzip, replace the cdt.bin file with the .901 file, then Fastboot it with RSD Lite it. Then you will have the .893.
Or you can download the .902 file and flash it in recovery OR you can wait a few days until it is OFFICIALLY pushed to your phone.
I believe this to be correct, but there are more knowledgeable people on the forum that may give you an answer you prefer.

Restoring Stock ZV7

I am currently on a rooted version of ZV7 and I lost my backup somehow, so I was wondering how to i return to non rooted ZV7. I basically just want to start fresh like when i got the phone for the first time. and then reroot and then i plan on doing the method for keeping root with the ZV8 update.
You can use MT's all in one tool to un root and then re root if you want.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348557 There is also a way to root the ZV8 software now so if you want you can un root upgrade to ZV8 then re root with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1621625

So anyone able to help me with this. Can I use RSDlite ? that's how I would revert back to bone, stock, first day out of the box, with my Droid 2 Global and my Droid X, but I wasn't sure if that was just for Motorola phone or if it works for any brand of phone. If I can use RSDlite, then can someone hook me up with the proper SBF file I need in order to revert back to stock ZV7 LG ROM/OS (I was never sure if just the custom one were called ROMs, or if even the stock version of Android that comes on a phone is considered a ROM too, I just always figured it was just called the Stock < insert phone brand-name here> ROM lol
Oh and on a side note, once I do revert back to Stock ZV7, is the ZV8 update gonna automatically just start downloading, or will it give me the option to do so. Right now when it pops up, it gives me the option to start the download, or in 30seconds if i don't decide it will automatically start downloading. Is that gonna be the same way it works when i am back to stock ZV7 ?
RSD Lite is the Moto side of the house, we use on our side is a tool called LGNPST and files that end in .TOT.....
All the instructions can be found over on this page

Not sure if the download links are still active on that post but if they are not check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466655
where threevolve was kind enough to host the files for us (link for the site is on the page) and is where I downloaded VS910ZV7.tot and VS910ZV8.tot
As far as the update starting to re-download it most likely will but if you end up rooting your phone after you TOT back to the ver. you want you can always freeze the software update.apk (plz if someone knows a different and/or way post the link or correct me)

[Q] Bionic Updating 893 > 90x

It's been awhile since I did anything much with my phone and so I am a bit out of date on what is available these days, especially with the Bionic, I could use a little advice and some recommendations. I used to be into phone modding big "back in the day" with my DX but not so much anymore.
Firstly, I am not a nub and I spent a few hour's online reading before deciding to post anything so I am not trying to be spoon fed here, but I am a bit stuck here and I am not sure what to do. Anyway, I got the phone with 886 and rooted it, installed my stuff and have been using it since. Been having some issues with the phone (still do) so I decided to update it. I made backups via clockworkmod and did the forever root (where you edit with SQL editor) and ran the official update. The OTA said I would be getting 902 however after it installed I was on 893, so I assume I needed to be on 893 before I could go to 902, however when I try to go to 902 I get failed update.
I have tried two ways of updating.
1a. Updating to 902 from phone
2a. Updating from stock recovery using the 902 update file, named Blur_Version.5.5.893.XT875.Verizon.en.US.zip
1b. When updating from phone it downloads, "installs", phone reboots to "update failed".
2b. When installing update from stock recovery I get "package verification failed bla bla myverizon.apk".
So, I figured it was apps and such I either removed, froze, etc. I unfroze and restored any stock apps and still myverizon.apk failed. I read online about putting myverizon.apk in /system/apps however that did not work.
My goal is to keep my phone as is, I cannot really afford to reset it at this time. I feel what I need is the proper myverizon.apk file and someone with more knowledge than myself to tell me exactly what to do.
Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.
Go here and use Timmy10shoes files if needed...http://androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-5-893-5-9-902-rsdlite.html
Thank you but this does a full wipe, I am just trying to update to 902.
This will get you to 902 and Timmy10shoes file will prevent a wipe of the sd card.
