I have a problem with humbertOS' RC0 of CM9 or rather with his gapps zip...
I followed the instructions and did a factory reset and wiped everything (cache, dalvik). after that i installed the newest build (CM9-SGT7-TE4M-20120202) via CWM, didn't reboot and also flashed the kernel for my model (P1000) and flashed the gapps zip right after that and then i finally rebooted the tab...
everything works fine, wait..not everything:
the gapps dont show up...no market, no gmail etc... also it seems that i dont have CWM anymore, since i cant boot into it. but that seems to be normal from what i've read...
so i cant flash the gApps zip again...is there any other way to install it?
i did the whole procedure (installing froyo and the overcome kernel, wipeing everything and flashing humbertOS' files) 4 or 5 times already, but no luck
any1 xperiencing the same? any solutions that i'm not aware of?
i wouldve posted this in the original thread in the dev forum, but i'm not allowed to bc of my 0 posts...
I have a Sprint Galaxy Tab and running JT's ICS build but try this.
Get to CWM, wipe everything, flash the rom. Then mount /system. Then flash GAPPS.
Should work then.
works like a charm thx!
that is not CM9 + Gapps problem.
That is CM9 for SGT in general and we all know that.

Hi,
I have many times tried to flash CM7, but always happens weird thing.
I have stock 2.3.5 XXJVS with Semaphore 2.5.0 kernel
1.I boot into CWM
2.I wipe cache then wipe data/factory reset then i go advanced and choose wipe Dalvik cache
3.Choose .zip from sd card
4.I choose update-cm7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip
5.My phone flashes it
6.It reboots
7.Normal Galaxy S GT-i9000 then Galaxy S
Cyanogen Mod
8.It goes to recovery and posts text very fast then reboots again
9.It repeats everything what it does from section 7.
Im very confused so please help!
Have you tried flashing it again?
redo step 3 and onwards,
sometimes you just need to flash twice.
It seems like a corrupted download... Are you flashing from internal or external? Have you mounted before?
i tried to flash from internal
What version of CWM recovery do you have? Maybe flash a different ROM just to update CWM, and then flash the rom you want?
I had the same, or atleast a similar problem whilst trying to flash CM9. I fixed it by flashing the rom again.
You also might want to redownload the file incase it's corrupt.
i have CWM 5.0.2.7 and i downloaded the CyanogenMod file again so i try to flash it again
Any luck with your efforts this far?
yes, i succesfully installed CM9 about 3 months ago.
I'm not sure which build it was but it was the newest build
Hi,
I as of yet, am not going close to any ICS build till the issue gets solved by someone.
so I am experimenting with different gb roms. i was using checkrom v6 but didnt like it, so followed steps to install darkyrom/alliancerom extreme edition. i followed the steps as I was told to install allianceota and flash the rom through there. it didnt work. so instead using cmw i flashed through recovery, it did flash but there no root.
so now, i reflashed a stock la6 rooted rom from here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
this went smoothly with no problems, so i installed allianceota as normal, this time when i try to flash the following messages come up:
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/CSC/KOR/system/'
Successfully applied multi CSC"
and then it gives me the option to reboot, wipe cache and a few other options, not full recovery mode.
shall i just reflash the rom through recovery, or am I doing something wrong? and does the slight error above mean I have a problem with my note?
cheers in advance.
Let me just say that almost every ICS ROM out there now has disabled the MMC_CAP_ERASE code in the kernel that activates the eMMc bug and bricks your phone. If you want stock ICS, you can use SpeedMod or Franco kernels. If you want AOKP, there is that now. If you want CM9, there's a bunch of variations plus the official CM9 nightly. If you read through the OP and stickies, you will be okay.
Are you on stock recovery still? It sounds like it from the error you are getting. Try flashing CWM recovery and installing the GB rom with that. Follow Drketan's thread in Android Development.
hmmm, so would you advise me to use ics? is it much better? i dont want to use cm9 builds as i need the spen apps and so on. i have looked into kingdroid or alba.
I'll have to think hard about this. i may give it a shot soon though..
oh and btw, I fixed the problem, yep it was to do with cwm it wasn't installed with the stock rooted rom. as for allianceota, it still didnt flash the rom, i had to flash the rom through cwm manually.
cheers anyhow.

I love ICS a lot more than GB. If you want to use stock ICS, I would just use Franco or Speedmod kernels with it and be safe. Read both of their forums and decide what you want to do.
I had the same problem with rom deodex i had flash with odin 1.85 firmware gingerbread here ; http://www.hotfile.com/dl/152168378/f76281c/N7000XXLC1_N7000OXXLB3_ATO.zip.html... then i made wipe cache and cache dalvick .
I've just flashed AlBa repack latest one on xxlq2, I did it by following the steps,
I thought i had broken my phone, because when the flashing finished and i was rebooting, at the beginning when it welcome to galaxy note n7000 and then goes to the bootup video, it restarted that several times, then after like a few minutes it loaded the homescreen and startup.

I have been searching around and can't find out how exactly I should go about flashing a custom ROM on the Hero. Yes, before anyone says it, I am a noob at this, and this will be my first time flashing a ROM(if i could ever figure it out). I have the latest stable version of CyanogenMod 7, which i believe is 7.1.0, and the GApps package to go along with it. Both are on the root of my SD card. I rooted with Z4root, downloaded ROM Manager, and chose the setting to flash Clockwork Mod Recovery. Should I flash using ROM Manager, or should I boot into CWM Recovery and flash from there? If possible, does anyone have a video that could help me along with this? The video posted in the video thread for this device is down. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!
Boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery and flash from there.
BTW, I'm running the latest release candidate for 7.2. Works perfectly for me.
I ended up finding a video on how to flash through CWM. I also later downloaded one of the CM 7.2 RCs, believe RC2. Now my next question is, do I need to wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache if I update to a newer version of CM, like a newer RC of 7.2 or one of the early beta versions of CM9?

Wipe cache etc. when flashing a later version of CM7 over an earlier version. Do a wipe data/factory reset when flashing CM7 over CM9.
It has always been a safe route whenever you flash a new rom to just wipe data, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik.
Yes.

Before I used CM10 i just used the stock (flashed latest GB) that came with my phone. So I flashed CWM5 and cleared all the three stuff I was supposed to. I installed the CM10 zip and since then its been stuck on the boot animation, not even a loop. Just the animation.
Any ideas whats wrong?
Thanks in advance

Well happened with me once when I had put AOKP ROM in my Galaxy Note.
Here is what I did:
Go to Recovery.
Wipe Cache.
Try reboot
No results?
Recovery again.
WIpe Dalvik Cache Also
Try reboot.
Still no results?
Try to wipe data/fac reset and re flash some other ROM as of now (which you are confident about that it will work)
Now go ahead and let the old ROM boot. (Surely it will, as you would have used prior)
Now, go connect USB and check MD5 of the file you had kept on SD Card (I mean the CM10 file)
I found that my MD5 didnt match.
If you think it didnt match download again.
If you know it matches then go for reflash.
But this time before flashing the new ROM just use some cleaning script such as Ultimate KErnel Cleaning Script. In Galaxy Note I used Jbroid Kernel Script. I aint sure now if you can use Jbroid in Ace.
Goof luck!
Press Thanks
I got it working, what I had to do was flash CM7, then CM9 then CM10 :/ after that it was fine Thanks for the help
Welcome
The problem was with the kernel being different in CM10 and official version.

Please ask CM9 and CM10 questions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742844
Hi everyone,
Newbie posting here.. I've had my share of flashing Roms a few times (say 4 or 5 times) but i stuck with cm 7.2 when they released the stable mod for the i9000.
Now i see that the cm9 stable mod has been released and i definitely want to try that out however, I'm not sure on how to go about it and I don't want to do anything stupid. Don't get me wrong, i've tried reading around through different sites and forums but all the mix and match methods of flashing and installing has gotten me confused..
My main question is, how do i flash to cm9 from cm 7.2? naturally i have cwm installed and can boot into cwm recovery. Am on the XXJVK baseband with the pawitp kernel. Not sure if i have to donwload new drivers (since the base ROM is going to change)...
Do i just place the zip file for the cm9 mod in the internal sd storage? could you guys help me out and let me know if this process is correct:
1) save zip file in internal storage (both cm9 and gapps)
2) do a nandroid backup
3) boot into recovery
4) wipe data and dalvik cache
5) install the package
6) wipe data and dalvik cache
7) install gapps
8) reboot
Once it boots up, i'm assuming it'll be running cm9 already.. could you guys help me out and let me know if this procedure's correct? sorry for the noob question but i'd rather just make sure and ask you guys first.
thanks in advance guys! cheers and more power!

wipe date
wipe cache
wipe delvik cache
then flash rom nd gapps
wipe cache nd delvik cache again.. good luck..
Best and most reliable way to do this is flashing through stock rom via Odin. Then flashing kernel with CWM Recovery via Odin. And only then flash CM9 via CWM.
thanks for the quick reply guys. will try it out tonight and update this post. hope all goes well.
cheers!

and if u want u can try chimera rom from team passion.. it s combination of cm9 and AOKP.. It s stable and fast..
took me less than 10 minutes to flash to cm9 and it's as snappy as i thought it was. now to fix up everything and check if everything's okay.
so far, wifi and network signal are working fine and dandy. might just have a go at that chimera rom.
