is it any difference from the DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush Release then Version 3, exept that v3 is older? If I want to install v4 can I just overwrite the old one?
Look in Changelog and choose wisely the title of the thread.
Anyone know? isn't good as a short description of the subject.
V4 supported more device, May be some newer SU (this can be done by updating superuser), If you have successfully rooted with V3 or any older version, You need NOT to do anything. It won't pour any extra stuff
if I want to unroot before ICS comes out, do I have to find the specific v3 Unroot package?
Unroot is same for all

I'm guessing you're using a Milestone. I'm not familiar with the ROMs for it or backup/recovery procedures, but the one question I can answer is #3. You would have Gingerbread, not ICS if you installed that ROM. CM7 is based on Android 2.3, CM9 on Android 4.0 (ICS). As the first post in the thread you linked says, that ROM has a 2.3.7 base with ICS theming, which is kind of like putting a Mustang body on a Ford Tempo.

oh ok thx. but would the ICS theming have any performance impact or none? and yea i have a Milestone
first of all installing a custom rom makes u get plenty of features. 2nd it wont get u the brute speed of the official froyo but it gives many more features in the expense of speed
3rd yaa u can intall ics theme for cm7 theme chooser it will give you a clone of ics .....
add a thanks if it was helpfull

and installing the theme does not cause any effect on performance

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983516 this is the way to do in on our milestone
k thx. everything is working.
BUT now i get " no service " . I first got this when i installed open Recovery. How do i fix this? I tried changing my baseband to Canada and to telus but it still dones't work. I Also tried restoring the backup i installed and it still didn't work
BTW it is a Motorola Milestone from Telus ( i think it's a A853). But it was originally unlocked to be use on Rogers. I think the original .SBF file i used was the cause of the no service.
yaa most probably.. . thus bug has been noted down by many users .. why dont u flash the original sbf back and try?
add a thanks if it was helpfull

ok i finally fixed it for good (hopefully). I found out that even tho I bought Milestone in Canada, It was a Europe version. I randomlly picked the UK .sbf and now I have service.
thx for all your help shalom06
The last thing I did was root and install CWM months ago. I've had several firmware update alerts on my phone and of course I cant apply them because I have CWM installed. So my question is, how do I get updated to the latest firmware (or should I, I would hate to break root) or how do I, from the position I am in now, install a custom rom with a more current firmware? Here are my numbers: Android Version 2.3.6, Baseband Version: N7000XXKK5,Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKK9-CL725676, Build Number: Gingerbread.XXKK9.
You can install any latest ROM from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
Just use CWM to keep your root intact.
See post #2 of same thread, how to update ROM with CWM.
Awesome, thanks for the link dr.ketan . So with the current vanilla update and some custom roms out there am I better off with the newest vanilla firmware update, or do some custom roms include the latest firmware along with better bells and whistles? Oh and my phone came from germany. If I install the newest samsung firmware, should I choose the "Open Germany" Not Directly Rootable update from the link you provided? I understand I can root it later since I'm already rooted on the rom I'm on.
You can use open germany lc1(as such i m that only)
Here correcting some words, you can't root it later, but you hav to keep intact while you flash lc1, n that can be done with cwm.
Read detail guide on thread i said u on previous msg.

Flash ICS Stunner 4.1 beta.

LOL. Don't confuse him. Here is someone who did not even flash a custom ROM of existing (crappy I agree) GB and you are asking him to flash a ICS ROM which is based on a leak that was never meant for GNOTE.
P.S: With all due respects to Stunner (I am on it and enjoying too)
So Flash open germany LC1 and use the guide to keep root on LC1. Got it. Thanks so much! Yeah Im not ready to install any beta ICS roms yet.
Hello guys im new to the forum.
I use stock unrooted 4.1.2 JB on my I8190 but I am a little bit disappointed because it slows down sometimes and I'm willing to install Faria's [ROMS][JZ054K.I9190.XXAMA1][4.1.2-Jelly-bean] [26.01.2013] V5.1.
Link
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074514
I'd like to ask some basic questions:
1. Is there any step by step guide?
2. Will I be able to restore my stock 4.1.2 and all apps if I dont like it or decide to go for further official upadets?
3. Can I download official firmware via OTA or KIES in the future?
4. Will I lose my warranty?
5. I need to be sure that I will not lose any of my preinstalled apps, I am busy lately and browsing play store consumes time.
I used to 'play' a little with my old Motorola Milestone so I was jumping between custom roms. Have some experience.
I'd really appreciate if somebody helped me.
Cheers.

1. Its availabe on faria's thread only, under how to flash section
2. You can always revert everything back. Refer this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159660 Thanks to samersh72
3. With Faria's Rom 5.1 i dont think update through kies is possible. But the Rom status is official. You can flash the update or try OTA.
4. Play with your device at your risk. Make sure you follow correct steps. Learn more before you try. Warranty can be gained by reverting everything.
Thanks to Chainfire(TriangleAway),Faria,Benzonator,Shaan,Infected,Tyson and all S3 mini developers for making it possible.
5. Roms have un-necessary apps removed. Remember to take backup of everything in yo device before proceeding for anything. For missing apps, always playstore or restore ya backup
Thank you for quck reply
And question for my consideration: how would rate stock firmware and Faria's one in scale 1-10? And how firmware update affects your using experience?

I'm on Faria V5.1 ROM too. Is a good custom ROM, but still original Samsung based. I don't like the official ROM, it have a lot of bloatware, not really quick, and not really smooth... So...
Stock ROM - a poor 3!
Faria V5.1 ROM - a good 7!
I hope one day we'll get CM for the mini!
Hi,
my friend bought this phone and wants me to "fix it up" for him. I am completelly unfamiliar with this phone and Samsung in general, so I need a little help.
I have scoured these forums for the last hour and there is TONS of information available. It's really difficult to judge which posts are outdated and which are still working.
Basically what I want is this:
1. Root the phone
2. Install CWM
2. Install latest CM7 for this phone.
I reckon the root works with using SuperOneClick, correct? And for CWM I thought I'm gonna use this?
But I am at a complete loss when it comes to which CM7 to choose, there are tons of them? Can someone recommend me a fresh, stable, debloated and fast CM7 ROM with everything working?
Thanks.
I managed to get root and clockwork mod up and running.
Any ideas for which Rom?

1) For rooting, refer to this thread - http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2011/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-popmini.html
It does not matter if it outdated - all you have to do is go to superuser app, and choose update binaries. You will get latest version.
2) For now, i personally don't feel you should use CWM 6. the version i am using (CWM 5) has no bugs and works perfectly. here is the link -
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.in/2012/02/clockwork-mod-touch-for-galaxy-mini-gt.html
3) As for ROMs, there is a large collection out there. It all depends on your choice. For example, if you want:
A stock based ROM choose something like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861240
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576996
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2074556 (which is CM10.1 - Jellybean)
Or another CM10.1 ROM which works very well - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2227481
Or maybe another interesting ROM which im sure you will like, which has interesting tweaks like android version - 5.0.0.5 (lol)
Cyanogen mod 7 music edition - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329551&highlight=emanon
Or the experience ROM by autoradio, which allow a lot of customization - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2193327
This is another really good ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754694
PS the question "best ROM" is always being asked and is then subsequently closed by a mod, so read the rules next time
Another thing you should know is NEVER use an app called ROM manger. it will brick your phone.
I supposs this cover everything
Press thanks if i helped
I've got my Verizon SCH-1800 that I wanted to start using again.
Looking at it now, I'm on CM 9-20120511-NIGHTLY-p1c, which is 4.0.4
The kernel is 2.6.35.7-g8f42093, [email protected]#1
I've been reading around about new ROMs, etc but if I'm not mistaken, back when I rooted this processes were very particular about how to root this tablet and all I'm seeing is a lot of older threads. I guess I'm hoping someone can answer two simple questions for me:
- Is there a method of rooting that is the definitive way for this tablet?
- After so much time, is there a version of Android that is most stable for this aging tablet? ICS, JB?
Thank you if anyone can help, I appreciate it.
If you have CM9, then you have root access. As to stable or good rom's, you just have to read up on the different ones to see what sounds good to you. Then flash it. Don't like it? Try another.

Ok, so from now on it's just a question of installing zips via recovery? I never have to go back to stock again like you once used to?
Something more must be needed because I can't even flash this CM ROM without problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032726
Recovery says it's a bad ZIP. But I got it from that link.
