maybe your ril is just not combatible,
instead of just using the recommended ril try a few others.
also, if you have any power saving programs set to auto switch to 2g when screen is off, could be causing the phone to turn off the radio to switch to 2g / 3g and thats not working because the network is unavailible.
changing your ril orchecking your power settings with any radio manager (like the power manager in CM) you can set it to turn off / on 3g when wifi is on / off and so forth.
could be some of these settings messing with it, and becasue the ril / bb is not working correctly its just bomming out and staying on flight mode because its lost the signal.
so either try a fresh full wipe install install (do a nandroid for backup testing)
check your problem with a fresh install. change rils if you experience the problem (use any of the rils with the same number (.eg. 0725 rils or whatever) check the discription on getril as it pops up what it is and where it came from in a pop up as you select them.
keep matching til you find something that works, (try about 4 - 6)
if all of the above dont work you may try a BB change. but take extreme care*
i dont like changing basebands unless i have to =/
Try 218 ril.
i had that problem while using temaseks kang with proper RIL (phone would lose signal and wouldn't reconnect to network, and trying to reboot with a airplane mode on/off would just make the phone stuck in airplane, even after reboot). the thing that i noticed is that airplane mode would get stuck if activated from power menu, wireless networks menu .. but solved the problem adding the Airplane mode to the notification bar power widgets (icons in notification bar) and airplane mode would then get deactivated normally. that was the only way i got to deactivate airplane mode running temaseks kang.
hmm, still trouble. Flight mode is randomly enabled, and only reboot can change this...
I have used [CM7][UNOFFICIAL][NOV10] temasek's ROM for more than one year with default kernel,
I now have updated all my phone
Only change i have now is that i use kernel: 2.6.32.59 symbi0sis-v1.3.1-UHC [email protected]#1
Thanks to temasek for a really nice ROM!
But, could this kernel make this type of flight mode trouble?
Should i use another kernel?
Or is there a other solutions?
In app GetRIL i get message that RIL/baseband dosnt match.
Seems that i have RL 0218 /V10b Erope) but i should have 0725 (V10d, europe) Any comments?
Thanks
I fixed this problem by disabling automatic time in settings. I then installed Clocksync to set the proper time. Dont know why this worked, but it just did, so give it a try and reboot.

Hi I've been trying to find out the problem for past 2 hours and flashed again many times and i cant seem to find the problem here.
the problem is that after a clean install of this rom AOKP milestone #5, i connect to my wifi 2.4GHz. 5GHz doenst seems to work.
it doesnt even show. now the problem is that when i reboot once than the tab cant turn the wifi back on.. so i cannot connect to the wifi.
i get black toggle not gray like the other toggle and i go into the setting menu and the tab tries to turn on the wifi but i can't.
it just says "turning wifi on" and nothing. so i flashed again and same problem occur. i dont know the problem.
so i am trying to restore the overcome 4.1 nandroid backup but it doenst work from the new CWR (MTD).
how can i flash the recovery (non MTD) that i used to have with overcome rom.
if i cant do i have to restock all the way again so i can restore to overcome nandroid backup that ive made?
if i have to restock, what do i have to do from AOKP Milestone #5 ROM (MTD)?
Thanks in Advance
Dan
You restock the same way as in overcome.
Fire up Odin and flash with repartition.
Then you can flash overcome kernel and boot to cwm recovery and restore.
Don't know about you, but my overcome Android restore always have FC after reboot to the point of unusable.
I usually have to wipe all and restore from titanium backup instead.

I read this on a thread.
Guy had mobile data switched on, and whenever he rebooted, wifi wouldn't connect.
Guy switched mobile data off, rebooted, wifi started working, then turned on data.
Try and let us know.

Sorry for reviving this thread, but your comment has helped me out. I have AOKP M1 on my i605 and wifi has been a pain. Turning mobile data off, wifi on, and mobile data back on solves the problem. Thank you!
Hi,
first of all I want to thank all of you pushing the SGS to the newest level of smartphone software.
Here is the problem:
I installed CM9 exactly as it was discribed in the tutorials. Everything is working fine, except the wifi module.
When the device is in the airplane mode and wlan is activated, there is no problem, but when I turn off the airplane mode and turn it on again after a short time, I get a reboot or the wlan settings screen freezes at "WLAN is activating", when I want to turn on WIFI again.
I tried all available kernels (devil, semaphore,...), tried TeamNyx RC5, tried CM10 and nothing improved this situation!
Flashing the JVU(or another stock Gingerbread) via Odin, I can use the WLAN correctly.
Thanks for your efforts!
EDIT:
I get the same problem on CM10
Using CM7 everything works perfect!
Please: If you got the same problem, answer to this thread!
Same here on Vibrant. CM9 and 10 only.

Hi guys, I have a problem with the 2G/3G toggle in the notification bar. It doesn't seem to work properly. When I want to switch to 2G, it immediately switches back to 3G.
A reboot does not help.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution?
I just want to have a quick way to switch between 2G and 3G. It worked fine in CM9.
i9000
CM10 stable
Stock kernel
Toggle settings is set to 2G/2G+3G
Am I really the only one having this problem?
I find that hard to believe, having only stock kernel and not having changed anything in the developer settings.
Can no one reproduce the bug?

You're not alone.
I also don't work. I tried lots of modem (jvt, jvu, jw4) same results. :crying:
And cm9 works fine !
I can confirm that. But I find it quite weird that a reboot doesn't help. Oo For me it works a couple of times and after that it stops working and I have to reboot.

Same Problem here...my phone (SGS I9000) doesn't seem to work on 2G anymore since yesterday update. If I switch to 3G it works. there seems to be some problem on 2G networking??
Welp, I tried using Semaphore 2.5.0. Didn't work, the problem's still there and unchanged.
Any ideas?
Same problem here. Sometimes reboot helps, sometimes not. I tried with stock and Sema 2.6 kernel and with stock and jw1 modem. Neither of them are working correctly. I'm using a nightly.
+1 on stable cm10
with latest HellyBean the same problem. sometimes the toggle work, sometimes not.
edit: after wipe cache again, it works. a bit slow... but it works!
Hi guys
I own a Lg Optimus 2x P990 and I am currently running the JB CM10 Build by tonyp.
In the past I ran ICS builds like Django Manouche and other cm10 builds like Paranoid Android.
The cm10, builds are running very well on my device but there is a possible bug ... I use my phone during the day, and if I send, receive messages I usualy keep my connection with the mobile network.
When I wake up (phone is inactive for several houres) , and I just unlock my phone, the network bar is full, but I can't send or receive messages. When I go into Settings and try to search for a network I get " Error while searching for network ". A simple reboot can fix this problem.
If I don't use my phone often during the day, It does the same. I unlock after a few houres, statusbar Icon is full, but no network available... (so if someone tried to reach me by calling or texting, I can only see it after a reboot.)
The second thing is that I always have R above the network signal, even when I am not roaming at all ...
I tried to change my baseband when I was on Paranoid Android, but that didn't work ...
There is NO problem with my mobile network on the ICS build (like django manouche) , but the ROM isn't fast enough and I like stock android more ... ( I think)
I always did a full wipe, and followed the instructions ... I am on the latest Kowalski Kernel at the moment...
If I erase internal memery, could that do something?
Thanks for your time.
Arthur

That is strange. I am running cm 10.1 too and I have sometimes problems with logging in to operator after reboot. But your problem seems bigger. Did you tried to turn on/off mobile data (dont know how it's in english version)? And try to change to 2G/3G, maybe that might solve something. Or maybe there is an bug in new Bootloader (if you ran django mandouche and tonyp's), so if that doesnt help to you, try to downgrade to old BL

Thanks for the reply ! My phone came with the old bootloader, and I installed Nova HD CM9 on it and had the same problem.
I need to try the 2g/3g settings...
When the error occures, I can try to turn data on/off all I want .. only a reboot helps ...
Django is on the new bootloader, and worked fine ... So I believe it's a CM problem... ?
I also dialed *#*#4636#*#* and changed to WCMDA Preferred (but didn't help)
Any more advice ?

Still having this same problem over and over ... have to reboot my phone every morning ...
anyone ?
Thanks
I also have this problem, tried every possible combination of baseband and ril, still couldn't solve it.
Ended up returning to v30b ICS, where the problem doesn't occur.
I followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367385 step by step but there's a link missing in the "Install custom ROM." referring to the attach Attachment 2123031 so i didn't download that and moved to the next step and so on. Basically now if i connect the phone to the computer it doesn't show any hard drive nor allows me to restore because it says md5 mismatch and keeps on loading menu saying HTC.
I turn it off and it turns on after a few secs allone going to the stuck loading.
What can i do to at least restore to factory defaults?
You don't need to install a custom ROM. You may have flashed a kernel that is incompatible with the ROM you are using. About the md5 mismatch there is an easy way of fixing it as I can recall. Just search up the error in Google and a lot of results will come up. Can't provide you with links because I am on a phone and info encourage googling and the anti-spoon-feeding policy.

Flash Prometheus Kernel (Sense Version). And try a lower frequency like 722Mhz. If you dont know how to flash a kernel look at guides in this forum. There is one in my signature too.

Ok i fixed my problem. But the wifi is an issue, is there any ROM without the wifi problems? I have CM10 installed but once the phone gets in the sleep mode wifi is lost and have to do the tricks again, so i guess i'll have to go for another img.
aashay960 does that rom have the wifi fixed or is the same like CM10?
All cm10 roms have wifi issue. All sense roms don't have wifi issue.

wifi keep alive and my connection manager to solve all wifi preoblems in 4.1.2
Ok my wifi is fixed now.
Basically what i did:
Download the app Wifi Connection Manager,
Go to you wifi settings do "forget" connection
Reboot
Enter in the app you've downloaded, select the network and save your credentials there
Done!
Now you can turn off or reboot as you which it doesn't lose any wifi settings!
