Hey all,
Currently a DInc2 owner and looking for a 4G device to play with. I can get a Revolution for $80 third party, no contract, etc.. Worth It? Opinions?
Sent from my Incredible 2 using Tapatalk
This is only my second Droid, so i may be biased but i love this phone. I had an OG droid for years before this so it was quite a change, but MT, Cubed, spc, and a lot of other folks have made this phone go from a pos to a really fun and versatile device. I'd say yes its worth the money, but again i have a limited base of comparison.

Def worth it for that!

80 bux. Ya. Maybe try and shop around a bit more. There was one guy who could get his hands on one for 40 bux.
It is a great phone with mods. If you get one, well, welcome to the community.
Haven't played with the DInc2 at all. Had an OG DInc, and upgraded to the Revo. After modding it, it is a great phone. Does everything I need it to and more. It's perfect size; not as big as some of the monstrous phones that have been coming out, but large enough that it's comfortable to watch videos and browse the web.
There are some quirks about it, depending on what you want to do, but nothing that cannot be overcome, and there is a good community here at XDA to help out.
$80 is a great deal, off contract. Shop around to see if you can find it cheaper, but that really is pretty good. 4G phone, with 12GB internal storage, 16GB MicroSD, front facing camera and one click root? What more do you want?

$80 a good deal for a 4G phone with a 4.5in. screen? Lol. Pretty obvious that it is. Someone else asked somewhere if $40 was a good deal. Come on guys, do you want them for free or something?

I got this phone the second week it came out so I paid full two year contract price. But the looks I see on peoples faces when my benchmarks are higher than theirs is priceless. This phone has become so much more because of the people who develope all this software for it.

I 2nd, 3rd and 4th this. My phone is a totally different animal after gingervolting, blitzing and supercharging. My wife has a Dinc 2 and I have started to read up on custom roms etc. for her on the Dinc2 forums and by far, this forum and everyone here has been a step above.

its like ebay , with the difference theres about 2000% more scams ... but on the other hand its the only place where u can get hardware for sexual favors

id write more about it but , hey its xda ...
craigslist is ok for local selling/purchasing of junk. The problem is that everyone wants to lowball your already low low price.
Example: I had a guitar that is worth $800.00 I put it up on CL for $400.00 and people were still trying to either trade it for firewood (i.e. junk guitars) or try and get it for $350.00.
But another good example is I had an Apple 3g - and I was able to sell it for $200.00 no issues. So essentially I had it for free for the 2yrs I owned it.
... so as long as your dealing local and your a hardass - its not bad for selling stuff. Just don't try and purchase out of your area.
And stay away from the personals (which I think they closed anyways) Thats where all the Chester's are hiding with their candies and ice cream.
craigslist is the place where you transact and get killed.
Its the greates place on earth for a high schooler to find used cars.

I prefer to stay away from it
anyone heard of the craigslist killer?? no?? ok
It's pretty much the best thing ever. I buy/sell all of my phones on CL. Just sold my 6 month old Evo for $300 cash, then turned around and bought a Nexus S for $400. Ironically, I later found out the guy I bought the NS from is a fellow XDA-er.
Yea I saw it on TV. What an asshole that dude was

Maybe, seems like the ones above $300 are either new or very new (within a month), I got mine the first day they went on sale. I'm happy with the 3 i got, maybe I could've gotten $350, but what's another $50.

But I will buy one wifi-only device to pair with this.
For example: Ipad2 wifi only is 499, their wifi+3G is 629 (130 USD higher).
DS7 is 200USD.
So if you buy a ipad 2 wifi + DS 7 , you are paying 70 USD more comparing buying an ipad 2 wifi+3G directly.
But,
what you got is HSPA network
A full functional device + powerful android exposure
better camera (comparing only applicable to ipad 2 only)
"portable" 4G access point.
7inch for your mobile needs etc etc

I bought my DS7 like every other XDA regular knowing full and well what "Downsides" it has, we all however felt the potential for what it CAN do once the community puts out the custom work on it. I mean we have the 4G model that works with ATT 3G (Which THAT alone is win if this Merger happens... no other tablet has this yet, so least WE dont need to replace), Tegra 2 is the future atm for the devices. So we are set for PS Suite, Netflix and other quality 3d games Android shouldve had awhile ago to compete against iOS games.
It runs smooth, handles well, has a strong promise in the future, plus Dell isnt that bad. They didnt hardlock us out of rooting. =p *Pats Dell's Head*
While things are slow. Least now that we have the ability to flash, things can only go up. =) With Honeycomb coming, we will really be set! Also T-Mobile moving to 21Mbit (Which atm is in Vegas and NY) we will have a good speed too worthy of a Tablet.
Xoom maybe nice, no lie, but I dont need that. =)
Have you guys seen this? http://www.oeebay.com/goods.php?id=801 Im not sure if this is scam.

I know most of the people here have the Bionic already but I would think a few new members would jump on this deal asap.
No, lol. No one wants a locked BL POS when the phones on the horizon are looking so much better. Tuesday 2 or 3 phones, both of which are going to be better than the Bionic will be announced.
One of which is a Samsung, and the other is called 'Rezound'. I'll take a pass.

As a former captivate owner I feel your pain. It's not just their phones either. I had terrible experiences with their bluray players as well.
The Amazon deal for the Bionic is a steal.

I had a DLP TV of theirs a few years back. One of the first 1080P projection models, back when LCDs of that size were prohibitively expensive. Gorgeous screen, but the speakers went out within 6 months of use, the tuner flaked out... "Pretty to look at, but useless" summarizes my experience with Samsung in general.
Generally speaking, I've actually heard really great things about samsung TV's and monitors and I've had pretty good experiences. My family has 4 samsung TV's and 2 monitors and none of them have had problems. They're all currently in the 2-4 year age range. I also know a couple of friends that have had TV's for a couple years with good results thus far. It's not hard to find bad apples for any company.
The upcoming samsung device is supposed to be a google experience device, isn't it? I kind of separate google experience devices from normal devices of any one company. I wouldn't say they're miraculous devices or anything like that, but they definitely seem to be of higher quality, in general.

Hardware wise they're pretty ordinary- or at least share components with other phones (HTC Incredible/N1 and Galaxy S/N-S). It's the leaner software that makes them unique. But you're right, it only takes a few bad experiences to sour my opinion of a company in general. And I would say I've been saddled with an inordinate number of lemons.
What really tempers my opinion is that all of my Galaxy S phones (Captivate, Fascinate and finally Charge) had more or less the same issues. The Cappy was the only one that shut itself down from idle (thankfully), but the other two had the same problems with not getting calls or texts, terrible GPS, inconsistent data connection, heat management, etc. It seems to me that Samsung just can't get their software QA right. I would certainly hope a true Nexus phone would be different... and I didn't hear any bad reports about the Nexus S, so one Samsung warranty exchange fewer and I might have given it a try. As is, I'm giving Moto their fair shot.

Crap..you did a lot better than me. My Charge was as mint as mint gets with an Otterbox Commuter case - started at $350 and after 3 weeks on Craigslist I finally let it go for $200. When it got to $250 I decided to swipe the 32gb MicroSD though, f$$k it.
Well it's been fun, but in the end the Thrill has had too many issues, and not enough support from LG.
I'm going to get a white Samsung Galaxy S3. The specs are incredible, 2GB of ram is the big one for me, not to mention ICS default or Jellybean upgrade! My Thrill slows down too easily after I've put all my apps on it, I usually get down to 50mb of ram remaining or less, I frequently use the task manager, and even then it just isn't cutting it.
I'm going to sell my Thrill on eBay with Thrill Seeker 3.0 & v20p baseband, unless someone here wants to buy it? They seem to average over $200. However the idea is I make as much from it as possible to put towards the credit card payment for the Galaxy S3 (I'll be buying it outright from my work, Best Buy, using their credit card 18 months no interest)
It's in like-new condition btw, I've had a case on it since day one, screen protector as well, there are absolutely no scratches/dings/marks on it.

So yeah, Lestat could use a new Thrill. If you're not willing to donate, are you willing to hold onto it until somebody (like me) can pay for it so we can donate it instead? Honestly, I want to swap Thrills because the bluetooth went out on this one. I really miss using my wireless headset and bluetooth link into my house.

I'm sorry, but eBay or craigslist was what I had in mind. I've posted it for $240 expecting someone to probably talk it down to $200.
Unless someone here wanted to buy it for $200, I'm just using all of it for the payment towards my current SGIII that I've put on the credit card.

Then I wish you the best of luck trying to sell it for that reasonable price on Craigslist or eBay. People are going on there looking for bargain bin prices, not for fair deals. Unless they're looking explicitly for a 3D phone, you're going to be passed up for the plethora of lightly used Samsung SG2s at just a little over your initial asking price that are flooding the markets now (as everyone's clamoring for the GS3 now).
I'm really wanting an sg3 or an htc one x.

I can't relate to most of it and seems most others can't either. The storage issue is understandable, but I though Samsung was going to address this in a future update.
And I don't understand giving it "1" in all other categories for one failure.

To me it looks like HTC fanboys are overwhelming the s4 reviews. Most of the 1 star ratings recommend the HTC One.
I used to be an HTC fan boy, but their apple approach and gs4 converted me.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
Those are crap reviews. They aren't based on anything other than the storage. Just htc fan boys. They don't seem to mention that the One has no expandable memory. No removable battery. An aluminum body that will easily get messed up. I've always liked htc products, all my prior phones were htc. However, the lack of sd card and removable battery killed it for me. The One that my Co worker has is already all scratched up and scuffed from being in his pocket. Does anyone know how much storage is available on the One?

I had the One before I got the s4. The expandable storage didn't bother me at all, and had tons more compared to the s4. Was really shocked to see how little storage there is. But an sd easily takes care of the issue. I don't have many apps anyways. Personally just need storage for music and backups/ROMs.
The phone looked great as well, but a 3" drop really messed it up. Also the vibrator inside was loose and would rattle, and almost none of the trim pieces lined up, including the screen.
If the phone was built better, I might have kept it even though I was never able to successfully stream a YouTube video on the mobile network cause the signal was to crappy.
So far, glad to be back in Samsung.

I stopped going to best buy back in 2007 let alone reading any review from them. Go and ask Geek Squad to fix your next broken PC and you'll see what I mean... I'd rather buy my electronics from a crook on the street than walk into any Best Buy.
The only reason to buy from best buy is their warranty
Other than that they seem very biased
Yeah....anytime I see 3 similar negative reviews and all 3 of them recommending the same alternative product (HTC One), all credibility flies out the window.
Wow these guys at best buy lmao.

My s4 upgrade is in 1 week. I'm up in the air about go through sprint or best buy. The Best buy no deductible is nice and no limit on replacements. Has anyone used best buys insurance? If yes is it good? I like assurion but getting sick of forking out $100 each.

I picked up my phone at Best Buy this time with their insurance. I asked others experience with their protection and I hear good things. I also buy all my electronics there and have never had anything but good experiences, so I trust them.

Exactly. Aluminum looks pretty, but scuffs easily. Especially the black version

It is kind of funny. These guys are clearly promoting HTC all over the place and anyone can see through that.
Thanks for the replies. I also never lose phones. Saying that I'll lose an s4 and be out $700! I've been looking for reviews on their replacements. Knowing there free has me kind of iffy about them. Assurion cost $100 but I've always had nice and sometimes new devices.

Assurion is $150 unless you have a older smartphone.

Those are spam. If you look, all of those user accounts were just opened and they left negative reviews on 3 different variations of the S4. You can't tell me they bought the Sprint, Tmobile, Unlocked etc S4s all at the same time.
