I am @ 1.13, with S-off, unlocked, rooted and CM7. And reason to upgrade HBoot?
I have read other device forums, but did not see anything for this one.
Is you phone working how you want it to/efficient ?
Only reason to upgrade your hboot would be to cause frustration.
Lol... Yeah its fine.

Then why change or tamper with something you can't see or feel benefit from lol.

The only reason I see to upgrade hboot is to complicate things for yourself and make htc happy that you have to use there htcdev tool to unlock it again. That way they will always know if you have void your warrenty.
I just wasn't sure what, if any new functionality the newer hboots bring. Thanks all.

Hi, just came across this post and saw that you have HBOOT 1.13 and are rooted.
Could you pass on the directions link from where you got the instructions, been searching a lot but I mostly find all the methods deal with HBOOT 1.16 AND 2.0.
My Inc S is HBOOT-1.13.0000 with RADIO-3805.04.03.27_M.
Would be a real help if you could point me in the right direction.

I want to S-OFF it and put on the CyanogenMod 7.
How do I do this? The only thing stopping me from as far as I know is the HBOOT version (it is too new) therefore I cannot S-OFF yet...
I've seen a thread around that I can make a goldcard and flash with a stock ROM but does it change your HBOOT (as-in downgrade it?) so I can flash...
thanks
I'm quite new to all this but i'm able to pick it up quite easily... thanks

That is the key question. With the new HBOOTs that HTC has released for other devices, including the Verizon Incredible 2, the HBOOT cannot be downgraded with the phone in S-ON state when you try to run an older RUU or load an older ROM.zip, so it may be the same with the IncS HBOOT 1.16.
You can give it a try and report back.
I'd rather not try, as I don't know what im really doing. apparently there is a new 2.3.5 sense 3.0 rom coming out so ill jusyt install that. I'm refreshing the revolutionary page 5 times a day.

Ok guys,
I've scoured the forums, I've found a number of methods to use but the most up to date one states that even it is out of date and there are easier ways to do this.
I have an HTC Incredible S running Android 2.3.3 (yeah, I know).
Someone post me a link to what they believe is the best method for S-OFF and ROOTING.
Many thanks!

So no way to S-OFF HBOOT 1.16? The second link makes it seem plausible...
Any thoughts?
1.16 must have a custom Rom flashed to obtain root.
in other words follow the newbs guide to root hboot 1.16 exactly and you won't have any problems however you will not be able to stay stock.

That's fine with me. I definitely want to flash a different ROM so it's no issue if I cannot use the STOCK ROM any longer.
What ROM would you guys recommend I use? People seem to be using Cyanogen more than anything else with this device.
Opinions?
Thanks!

I used alpharevx and its been great. I like that you can still go back to s-on if something goes wrong and you need warranty
I updated my Incredible S, not knowing that it would change my HBOOT version. I was on stock 1.16.0000 for ages, until I found this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373697
I was able to create a goldcard and downgrade to a s-off-able HBOOT version and s-off using revolutionary.io
These guides should help with revolutionary and flashing a new ROM

Now I have S-off and root and I'm running Virtuous affinity 1.48
I would recommend downgrading because using the HTCdev method doesn't give you full access to flashing things

Just a quick question.
I have HTC IncS Sim free bought in UK.
I have S-OFF it using revolutionary and is rooted.
If i were to apply the OTA update will it work fine with my fone or do I need to S-ON it first and then apply the update.
you will need to revert to s-on first. beware, once you update, you might not be able to s-off. I read that the update comes with hboot 2.0. no one knows if it can be s-off'd.
if you want to keep the phone s-off, just flash arhd 2.1.0. Mike just updated the rom using the official update.
okay thanks alot.. So to revert it to S-ON again i believe i need to update to a stock rom but which rom should i be using for my base band version 20.2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M

You sir are crazy. Is no one seriously not going to tell this guy not to do it? The ota update that was just released is a piece of crap, the roms on the dev section are light years ahead of the newest htc update. Don't do it!
I agree with "itsbeertimenow", you may wanna avoid the latest update as it includes hboot 1.16.000 and revolutionary will NOT work anymore.

Hboot 2.0 is even worse...so no update for me.
Yeah, I know about the gold card option, which I will have to try at some point...but the risk involved is a bit concerning at the moment.
Anyway, I would advise against the update.
no update from me
my advice is to not update.
I was always a stock rom fan giving the reason, a. root involves a risk of bricking your phone and b. HTC was doing not bad on their sense UI IMO. (OK you could argue that but I personally believe so).
But this 3.0 update is just so not HTC, I don't see a big improvement of performance but the otherwise, and the UI feels like beta version of a custom rom.
check my recent post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383806
Also, consider other members' opinion on rooting back from stock 3.0, you'd better stay and wait.

"downgrade HBOOT 2.00.0002 to 0.98.00000 without using HTCDEV unlock"

I am wondering if the same can be applied to our IS... I am totally new to downgrade/root/rom/etc, so could not verify this. But think if it can, our IS could benefit from it.
Could some experience member help on the topic?

Not as far as i am aware, you will have to go through a few hoops unlocking bootloader s-off - firmware change to sense etc, i have bricked
my device in the process as i have a current post up here asking for help, gonna get M8 tomorrow, so we are in similar circumstances !

GPE version phone, if i was you, sell your working variant GPE on Gumtree, Ebay and go from there ! Good luck
Come on folks. Do your research.
A GPE One's hardware is identical to the AT&T carrier-locked/branded or Developer Edition or "International" (WWE) unlocked/unbranded phones.
Any of them can be turned into any of the others by (carefully) writing to the necessary partitions.
Once any of these phones is S-OFF you can easily run any of the ROMs intended for any of the others.
In fact, you can use "firmware" intended for one while running another, although I would advise you understand what "flashing firmware" really means before making any firm conclusions there.
Anyway, short answer to the OP, yes if you're S-OFF and do a little reading, you can flash a variety of Sense ROMs.

Unlock is not the same as S-OFF.
You can do a lot with just being unlocked, but at some point you probably want S-OFF.
I didn't buy my phone from Google, so I don't know if unlocking is as simple as using a fastboot command like on a Nexus.
If not, you will have to unlock like everyone else. You can go to htcdev.com and/or do it as part of the S-OFF process.
Just to review the obvious, unlocking your phone in this way will erase everything personal on it including your pictures, your music, everything.
Backup your stuff.
To go all the way S-OFF, you first need to find out your HBOOT version. Most GPE phones have 1.54 right now.
Then decide which S-OFF exploit might work for you.
Read the rumrunner and firewater threads very carefully before doing anything. Always read the OP several times and then peruse the last two or pages of activity in any thread before making any conclusions.
Good luck.

GPE Hboot unlocks just like a nexus with Fastboot OEM Unlock. A token from htc dev is not required.
Still going to need to use an exploit to gain S-OFF
