Before you do anything else, you need to update your phone using PC Companion (download here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/supp...x8?cc=us&lc=en). PC Companion will guide you right through all the steps for updating.
The latest version is 2.1.1.A.0.6, and the latest baseband is M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015.
You can check your version by going to Settings -> About Phone.
If you are already running a custom ROM, you should update using PC Companion too, because some roms (like MiniCM) need the latest official version.
If you need basebands for your X8, here's a helpful thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976538
Flash them with FlashTool.

That's not entirely correct ...
The latest ROM version for the X8 is 2.1.1.C.0.0 and there's a FTF image for Flashtool flashing.
The latest ROM version for the W8 (and that's tohno's phone) is 2.1.1.A.0.53(?) .54(?) and there's no Flashtool FTF around. The best thing you can find is a 2.1.1.A.0.46 xRecovery backup. I once found the latest W8 ROM image (FTF) by Google on some Malyasian? Chinese? websites where one needs some program to download plus a login to the site distroing the file (looks like Share or PerfectDark or something along that line).
lol ..that is too advanced for me

how do i get back to 2.1 from 2.3 ?

I recently updated my phone to 2.3.7, and now i want 4.04
But for that, 2.1.1.A.0.6/2.1.1.C.0.0 SE firmware is required.
And after upgrating to 2.3.7, firmware is changed, and i've lost my previous backup, so i cant restore it.
Now how to i get my previous firmware ?
Please help
you don't need to change the firmware or move to stock version, you can upgrade to ICS if you have unlocked bootloader
Use Sony PC Companion or Sony Update Service.
If you have never update your phone to 2.1.1.A.0.6 or 2.1.1.C.0.0 it's required to do that before flashing cm9.

Straight Answer
Simply get flashtool. Then the stock 2.1 firmware. Open flashtool. Then drag the firmware from desktop onto flashtool in the white space. A menu will pop up. Click ok. It will ask you to plug you x8 in flashmode. (instructions for this will pop up. When you do this the instructions will dissapear. Then it will flash the stock sony 2.1 and then reboot.
flashtool: Here
firmware: Here
Please click 'thank' if you appreciate my effort. Sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for. For a simple fix just use pc companion as said before. But it takes longer.

[Q] hi couple of questions regarding my xperia z..

1) I rooted my phone successfully and then I tried to install the doomlord kernal...1st it dint work properly however after couple of tries...It worked sucessfully
2) My Xperia version was c6602 and it had original stock rom and everything...
3) Recently now I've installed the cyanogen mod 10.1.2 and it worked...however my android firmware version is still 4.2.2 but the phone model is changed from c6602 to 6603...Really wierd...!!!
4) please tell me how to get back to stock rom as i havent got any backup...
5) When i had installed the XZrecovery ( TWRP ) recovery...!!! i had the back up installed on my phone and now i cant install that idk what to do..!!
please help me...!!!
Any advice/guide/help will be really appreciated..!!!!
At unlocking BL you modified your TA partition, so Bravia Engine 2 doesn't work anymore.
If you want to revert back to stock you need:
Flashtool(FT)
A .ftf File(FlashToolFile, this contains the whole System of the phone)
Some time(it will take up to an hour for everything set up correctly)
A Windoze Box
So you need to get your device in Flashmode, then flash the stock ftf with FT, and finally relock bootloader.
If you need more info, just ask

[Q] Xperia V, Cyanogenmod to Stock Rom

Hello Xda Community, I unlocked my Xperia´s V bootloader, installed Cyanogenmod and played with it for about 2 month but, I dont really like it as the stock rom. It Restarts Suddenly and I feel it laggy. So I want to go back with Sony with not much tweaks but fairly more stable.
The current Kernel I got is 3.4.0-FXP-g2c4309f [email protected] #1 Wed Jul 10 12:40:02 PDT 2013.
Cyanogenmod 10.1.1 tsubasa
I have a old recovery of stock sony that i made with CWM, when I apply it tru the current cyanogenmod built in cwm it installs it but it keeps with a bootloop ;/
So I reinstalled the Cyanogenmod to use my phone.
Another Information: when I connect my phone via UsB Sony Pc Companion Reconizes it like Sony Xperia V (LT25), Can I make a repair by the Sony Companion to recover Stock Firmware and dont get bootloops? or by what way I should make it?
....
The Old recovery I made before I unlock bootloader will keep my keys for the Walkman to work?
King Regards Kical
Flash a stock kernel, or a stock based custom kernel with recovery then restore your backup.
You cannot use pccompanion because you unlocked the bootloader.

is it totally safe to update with flashtool?? and i dont want to lose data on phone soo also plz tell me what to tick and untick ...
THANKS in Advance
Yes, Flashtool is safe. It uses the same method as the official Sony tools to flash software to your phone.
Follow my guide here. Section 3 shows how to flash roms and what to select in order to keep data.
