When i first got my note i updated it to 2.3.6 straight away and properly conditioned the battery. I only ever let it run out to 0% and then fully charge it to 100%. I used to get 90-100hours out of the phone with wifi on (sleep when screen is off) and light useage.
3 weeks ago my girlfriend left my phone on top of our microwave when it was on and since then i have noticed that the battery drain is a lot faster. it now drains about 4-5% an hour with (just the wifi on and same sleep policy) and i have never got anywhere near the standby time i used to.
I have had samsung send me a new battery and that has made no really difference...
Does leaving your phone on top of the microwave damage the actual phone in anyway?
P.s. i have minimal apps on there and nothing syncing in background except the google services.
Is it worth sending it to samsung to get a replacement?
Microwaves don't leak out of the appliance for 2 reasons, they are metal enclosed which doesn't allow then to come out and if they did no government agency would allow them to be used at homes because of ether health risks.
You might want to check what is eating into the battery, is it going into deep sleep?
Probably best to wear some tin foil on your head. Just in case.

I reckon, your phone got COOKED by microwave when your g/f left your phone on the microwave ....
I am just worried samsung might turn around and say.." You can't bring that cooked phone for a replacement buddy !!" and what will you do then ??
I had a friend who was studying his PhD in microwave area and because he was exposed to microwave so many times while he was doing research about this topic, he ended up COOKED his half of his liver and had to have a operation.
SO WHENEVER I USE MICROWAVE TO COOK ANY FOOD, I NEVER LOOK DIRECT TO THE WINDOWS OF THE MICROWAVE DOOR AT ALL.... AT THE SAME TIME, I WOULD NEVER LEAVE ANYTHING ON TOP OF MICROWAVE OVEN EITHER !!
JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WOULD ANYONE LEAVE ANYTHING SPECIALLY DELICATE ELECTRONIC DEVICE like your galaxy note on the microwave when it
was ON !!! IT REALLY MAKES ME WONDER WHY .....
I strongly suggest to have your phone checked for any internal damage caused by this microwave !!!
I would think your phone is probably fine. If you're suddenly using it more then you will see more battery drain. I also feel like some of the newer firmwares out are using battery more than the previous ones, but you trade off for much smoother operation of the phone. Also for some reason wi-fi seems to kill this phone much faster than just using 3G does.

The microwave might not have cooked the phone, but it is entirely possible that it emitted some sort of EMF which messed with the phone.

Forget the microwave issue. It is possible that a tiny component was fried, but the most likely result of that would be failure of some part of the system, not excessive battery drain.
It is much more likely that WiFi, or even the phone itself, is not going to sleep for some reason. I changed to the WiFi sleep when screen is off policy and my phone now gets twice the battery life.
My wifi sleep policy has always been set to sleep when screen off. How do I tell if the phone is going into deep sleep?
I know it sounds stupid guys and believe me I don't really think that microwaves leak out the unit, however I'm deadly serious that up until the evening of the incident I was literally loving my phones battery life and now if was to get anywhere near the battery life I used too, the phone would have to be off!
Even tonight it has lost 5%-7 an hour and I've just reset it to factory defaults and install shaman, unified remote, eBay, torrent-fu that's it.
Need to speak to tech support from Samsung !!

Your g/f left your phone on the microwave when it was ON. Now, you discovered that your phone is losing about 5-7% of battery an hour... I would take my phone to samsung and have your phone CHECKED if there is any damage internally... THAT IS THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR YOU TO BE ASSURED !!!

Can you post the graph (full graph) from the battery info screen? That will show WiFi and screen activity & sleep.
It's funny reading all redneck replies about how no microwaves leak at all. Of course all microwave ovens leak, the power decreases rapidly with distance though so it's usually not harmful unless you say, leave something sensitive upon it or look into it from an inch distance all the time. Please be smart and get away from your micro while cooking stuff.

OK, thanks.
That just look very, very wrong. The first part with the steep slope has the same 'profile' as the later shallow slope.
I think something is going very wrong, and it seems like a hardware problem. Personally I would try several different situations and try to find out what is making the difference, but that is because my profession involves that kind of diagnosis. You may just want to go for a repair.
My advice not to mention the microwave, otherwise they will just fix on that and claim it is your fault. I very much doubt that would cause it, although the timing (based on your statements) suggests it was an issue.
---------- Post added at 01:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:00 PM ----------
Wait a minute....
If you manually turned off WiFi about half-way through, just before the graph goes flat, then it is WiFi not really turning off.
Here are some i just took.
It's just dropped 10% in and hour and a bit.
I think it's drops a lot fast will wifi enabled. I reckon I've fried my wifi because I only have 4apps installed none of them are using wifi and my wifi is set to sleep when screen off.
What happened just before it becomes almost flat? Did you reboot, perhaps? There is a vertical drop that I usually get when I reboot.
If so, then you may be right. Something is waking up the WiFi after a few hours, and from there it just does not go to sleep.
What happens if you manually turn WiFi on and off as required?
if i disable wifi it seems to drain the battery a lot slower. attached are ny batt stats from tonight. i have literally not touched the phone since 4:00 this afternoon.

I just got an LG Optimus 2x from Wind and after *thwip*-ing the screen left and right for several hours, it came to my attention that smartphones can do a lot more than simply sliding the screen horizontally. They can do it vertically too. So after several more hours of that and 11 minutes of porn later, I decided I wanted to root this thing. Burying it in soil and sprinkling water on it didn't work for some reason so I questioned the almighty Google - it led me here.
My phone has Froyo 2.2 (I think?) and I want to gain root permissions and upgrade to CM7. At least that's what I was told on Youtube, dude named analcobra said I want CM7 and who am I to question a guy named analcobra?
Any help is appreciated, I'll post a pic of my tits in return.
well first off welcome to xda, secondly all the info you need is right here just use the search fucntion, people dont like it when you dont use it lol,
i wish i could help you root your phone etc, but i have only just got the o2x myself , did have previous phones but each phone has a different way of getting root etc,
Just download superoneclick, follow instructions, root, download rom manager off android market to flash a recovery image, download cm7 to the root of your sdcard, reboot into recovery and flash cm7 the end, tits please?

Dude, you're funny.
Congrats to both of you for your new toys and welcome to XDA.
My personal recommendation, is to read around, stay at stock for a week. Root it maybe, stay for another week or 2, before choosing the ROM that you want to try first.
Staying on stock with all LG crapware and stuff will allow you to:
1) Know if there are any hardware issues your phone might have which should prompt you to return it to the store.
2) Allow you to appreciate rooting and custom ROMs better.
I also recommend lurking on the Android development threads and back reading maybe 5 pages of the more active threads. That way, you'll know what the pros and cons of each ROM is. And you'll know what you'll get yourself into after flashing. (So you don't cry out that you don't have FM radio when you just flashed an ICS ROM.)
My immediate recommendations for 1st time CyanogenMod flashers would be Temasek's CM7 of course. As it is a very active thread, and support is definitely abundant.
Anyway, adjust your LCD brightness, and prepare to read stuff.
Above all, have fun.

All the folks are right above, proceed accordingly.
However, keep in mind that your device is not an O2X(P990) but a G2X(P999), so to prevent yourself from some hassle(bricking your phone, etc.), check the T-Mobile G2X thread.

Thanks, probably would have missed that.
Also, what's with the battery on this thing? I switched my phone off last night (at 62%) and when I turned it on this morning, it was at 25%. Is it supposed to lose that much power even while it's turned off, or do I just have a faulty device?[/color]
Damn, that's bad. Is it a new phone? I only lose 3-4 percent a night when it's not even turned off (just the screen). But I can imagine it's the fault of the original LG ****ware, I had to install it a week ago because I bricked my phone, and after 2 minutes of the CLEAN install it was already lagging heavily.

How new is your phone? You might just need to drain the batt, then charge it to full.
If it still happens, something's wrong with your phone. Take it back to the shop.
Stock froyo roms only use 1% of battery on idle. (2g network use only. No wifi or gps.)

The phone's brand new, I got it like two days ago. The battery was already really low when I got it so I let it die and then charged it back up to like 90% before unplugging it. I'll drain it, charge it again, and then see how things go before returning it I guess. It lost 1% (with the screen turned) off in the last 12 minutes. D:
I don't have a data plan on this (aside from the free 100mb that comes with Wind25) so I had Wind disable the data on it. I also turned off the wifi before turning the phone off last night because I thought it'd save power. Would that have anything to do with it or is my inner noob showing?

Yes. Turning off wifi if you're not going to use it would help.
Having an enabled wifi either:
1) Keeps searching for networks that it can connect to
2) Once connected, will background sync/update certain apps. (i.e. Google Play)
I just noticed that if I do things that are supposed to conserve battery power, they use up more. Switching to 2g only, turning off wifi, etc. I lost 5% in one hour doing that, but when I turned everything back on, I only lost 1% in one hour.
In any case, the battery seems to be doing a little better than yesterday, maybe I just have to drain/charge it a few more times to sort it out? Has anyone else ever had similar problems before?
Gavin, I'm a new smart phone user too and have the same phone from windmobile and the first thing I noticed about the phone was how quickly the battery can drain. I thought it was defective or something but no, that's how it is. Mine would be dead from a full charge in less than 14 hours and that's without any usage, which is shocking and made me consider cancelling my plan. I do have data running however. Anyway, there are a bunch of apps available that can preserve the battery life. I've tried 3 or 4 and the last one (just found it 2 days ago from the Play Store) is the best by far. It's called "battery defender". I fully charged my phone yesterday and after a whole day (24 hrs) I checked the battery status and it showed 90% left (the app adds a battery icon that shows % left). Pretty damn good for a phone that used to be dead in less than 14 hours. I'm extremely happy. You can also try "juice defender" (the first app I tried) but that will probably give you 2 1/2 days on a full charge, which isn't bad.
BTW, draining and charging the batt won't do much if anything at all and in fact it ISN'T recommended that you let it drain below 20%.
Check out those apps and download one. They're free and they DO work. Also, get yourself a car batt charger too and maybe an extra battery.

No need to repeat cycling the battery. You can maybe do it once every 2 months and that's plenty for Lithium Ions.
Electroman is right. Optimum charging cycles go rom discharging only to 20%, then charging back up to 80%. And repeat.
About your battery being worse when you actually disabled your network stuff. I'm thinking you have apps or widgets that are configured to update every so often. And with the network out, they keep on refreshing themselves.
I personally didn't see huge gains from Juice Defender, but those batt saving apps are definitely worth a try.
Wonder if wind is putting any dodgy apps on the phone that use battery up?

Cuz the voltage gets high and reduces the life of the battery. Sort of an increase in MAH at the risk of overcharging and slowly killing the battery. 20-80% is ideal but **** that!

hi, whenever i do a battery pull my clock resets itself. from personal experience with RTC's (real time clocks) they usually have a small backup battery that prevents data loss during battery pulls. does the note have such a battery? anyone knows the model of this battery?
i wanna make sure i can get a new one before i go and try crack open my phone.
also, i do have network time set up, so after 30 seconds or so my phone updates the current time and date from the network. but by then whatsapp has already started and everything is just a messup. i just want the RTCC to keep its data on battery pulls(i constantly swop batteries during the day, heavy heavy note user)
I don't think they're using internal batteries in smartphones anymore. Not sure they ever did.
Haven't looked at Note's board, but usually the chip we're talking about is powered by a capacitor that starts to discharge when you remove the battery. This should allow it to keep the settings for about 48 hours.
If your phone loses that data everytime, and immediately after removing the battery, it might mean a faulty capacitor.
This might qualify for a warranty replacement. Try contacting support and see what they have to say.

If you look at this video there is a CMOS kinda battery in note for Data and Time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6CJy71_9Ok (8:12)
So my wife finally let me have my watch last night after 3 weeks of hiding it from me lol.
So far I really like it but only time will tell.
The possible issues I am seeing makes me question it.
1.) The heart rate monitor. No matter what I do, its asks me to tighten my band and try again. Am I missing something?
2.) The battery life seems a little odd. I wore it for about 2 hours last night before going to bet, messing around with it, then wore it to bed last night. Woke up, and the battery life still said 100%. Seems a little odd to me.
Has anyone else seen what I have mentioned above?
Thanks!

Are you really hairy? The sensor needs to see your skin (it measures heart rate by detecting slight color changes in the skin as the heart pumps blood through it), so if you have a wad of fur blocking the sensor, it won't work. You might need to shave your wrist... LOL.
As for the battery, sometimes the battery meter isn't yet calibrated properly, so keep using the watch until it dies and then recharge it back to full in one charge and it should start reading normally.

Thanks to a smart community, I have a long-standing problem with a spontaneous reboot. Mobile has root rights and is currently running on SixRom. Restarting is happening randomly in any activity or inactivity (the mobile is lying on the table), I go to the subway, listen to music, navigate, .... How many times can not I turn on because after the pin and subsequent log in to the mobile network is followed by restart and so on all the time. The only thing I've come to help is to have a cellphone in the airplane mode (but it's a totally useless mobile) or plugged into a charger, which makes it a miracle to recover and run normally.
Do anyone have any advice on how to solve this problem? I have tried many tutorials, kernels, roms, factory reset, but nothing works.
I apologize for my English, I use compiler.
It could be an app your using. Some apps will sometimes cause these random restarts because of a conflict with another app you may be using. Try deleting an app and see how things go, if things seem ok or continue with the restarts, then delete another app until you can rule out that the apps are what's causing the problem
Good idea, I try, but it still does not explain why my cellphone works smoothly when charging from usb. This does not reveal any restart either spontaneous or when logging in to the operator's network.
When ever I have a unexplained problem I do a complete format,, wipe everything except recovery.
For anyone having unexplained random reboots - replace your battery.
Is it sure that the battery replacement really helps? Or is it possible to test it for functionality by some kind of program? What I have tested programs for android, so everyone reports that the battery is in good condition ....

Go to playstore and download AccuBattery. Let it run in the background while you charge your phone to 100%. Then go in to the app and look for what it says under "health". It should say something about estimated capacity and design capacity. Let us know what it says on estimated capacity. It would give you an indication of how your battery health is.

This.
In my case the phone would generally run fantastic from 100% to 60% or so then would begin rebooting at first what I thought was randomly... however after experimenting I found the reboots coincided with above average draws on the battery. The fact that while your device is plugged into power and you are free of reboots is reason to believe your battery could stand replacement alone.....
Now If you want another quick and easy test (that's completely unscientific) undeniably accurate in 2 N6's Ive owned that indeed did need battery replacements here's what I did to convince myself that I was on the right track
I would usually wait until the phone reboots in what I would consider random which in my particular cases would be anywhere in between 60- 40%.
At this point I would open a "heavy" app. Google Maps comes to mind. Once open and after entering destination and location. The moment I hit "Get Directions" in Maps... BAM.. Reboot. Each time and every time. No room for coincidence.
There are a ton of apps out there but Maps is just the first one I realized I could control the point of reboot to that degree. Google+ was also another app but never to the point of a single button press causing the reboot.
Keep in mind this "test" is by no means without a doubt proof but..... with what you already know an easy way to see if the reboots might not be random after all.
With me, restarts are probably random in any activity. How many times do I turn on the display, switch on the screen and he restarts my cellphone. I've been told several times that my phone was restarted into a mode where I did not load startup applications such as AccuBattery, ... and there was no data connection to the mobile network. The mobile operator's signal was and was called. It did not help even the last version of the system (whether I was on any ROM - currently sixRom) or that despair of deleting Dalvik, data, in recovery (last version).
The only thing that helped was either to restore the entire system, including data from the backup, or complete the new ROM and then download the applications from the Play Store. Unfortunately, this will not solve a random restart.
AccuBattery reports battery health to 76%
I ordered two new batteries in one package that would arrive in a month. I'll see how I get.
If you're using magisk, that could be the issue
I'm using SuperSU

Same issue with me. Having random reboots for a couple of weeks now. Not always, just here and then. I have used a lot of different ROM's, with and without root, but to no avail.
After doing a lot of research, in XDA, and by Googling I have found out that in the majority of the cases the issue is the battery being faulty or passed its age, so its seems only natural to replace it.
I have bought the tools, bought the battery on eBay, now just waiting for it to come and I will change it myself. It doesn't look difficult to do.
Anyway, I hope this helped.

Good luck [emoji6] You're right, it's not hard, just time consuming and requires patience. My 2 cents on the subject;
Getting the back off the phone is pretty easy if you use a hot water bottle to warm the back for about ten minutes first. It helps soften the glue holding the back on.
You'll need a *good* #3 (some phones need a #4) torx bit. Using the cheap ones that come with replacement parts will likely strip the screw heads.
Use a magnifying glass to ensure your torx bit fits properly, and that you are holding it inline with the screw head. If it is tilted, you are more likely to strip the screw. Some of the screws are at an angle so I think that's where some might run into trouble.
Replacing the main board holder makes the whole job easier but it's not required. All in all, I'm glad I had one in hand. It's fragile and if the adhesive sticks on it, you might find it cracks when separating the back.
If you follow the ifixit tutorial, I seem to remember there was one or two screws that weren't listed. Also, they don't do a good job of illustrating how to release the ribbon cable connectors.
As you put the new battery in, consider the shape as you want it to conform to the curved back. If you find your forcing the back cover on, double check the battery.

Thanks for the tips :good:, defo will consider them.
I have been able to open the back with no problem, but with the tools that I bought some time ago on AliExpress I just couldn't unscrew the screws, so I decided not to touch it and bought some much better tools on eBay (and now I'm waiting them to come, in about 2 weeks time).
I have watched a lot of videos, and I mean A LOT, I've read quite a lot articles as well, so I think I'm good to go (and I really hope that I don't screw this up).

Definitely I will...
Thanks for your advice on dismantling, they will definitely be very useful. The batteries are still on their way, so it's a long wait. In addition, I plan to replace the very cracked cover glass (plastic) on my mobile phone, as I enjoy virtually all the mounting in the allele. Well, personally, I do not have any experience with replacing a few videos from youtube, at least I have all the necessary accessories like a new original school, inside a glue and uv curing lamp, screwdrivers, a chopper. I'll see how it goes
* So far, the restart has stabilized to a daily number of three or more.

It was a long process but I finally did it. It took me about an hour to carefully remove and assembly the parts but it was worth it.
The 5 days that I had the new battery, the random reboots seems to have gone away. I cannot see any difference in the battery life though, about 30 minutes more of SOT, about 3 and a half to 4 hours in total.
In the end I think it was worth it.
P.S. I did buy the back plate as well and now my N6 looks like new again
Hello everyone,
I've enjoyed this watch even if the battery life sucks since the beginning!! especially coming from the Samsung Gear S3, which has never ever lasted less than a day (24 hours).
Since the last Android Wear 2.0 update, the battery life is even worse, although I doubt it's actually linked, probably just a coincidence, but my watch hasn't make it through the afternoon for few weeks now. Barely 6 hours (with EVERYTHING disable, even bluetooth, in Airplane mode).
As of today, the watch will turn on and turn off few seconds later regardless the battery %.
Lg answered nicely that they would take a look at it, and ask $20 for the diagnostic if I don't want them to process the fix!!! And I read online that the battery replacement is $60. I would rather throw it away...
Anyway, I have 2 questions :
Does someone knows where to source this damn battery (BL-S7)?? Out of stock on ebay
Did someone try to fit a Watch Urbane battery (BL-S6) which is 570mAh instead of 430mAh? Or anyone knows this battery size? (I know the connector is different but at this point it's not the biggest issue )
That could help many people meeting issues with this watch... (I'm done with LG!!)
Thanks!!
Ok, I found the answer to my second question, and obviously bigger capacity = battery battery
the BL-S6 (Urban 2nd G) is about 31x27
the BL-S7 (Sport Watch) is about 28x27
So I'm still interested to know where to buy the BL-S7.
Thanks,
Assuming I can find a BL-S7 battery, how easy is it to strip the watch down to change?
My watch is so random with shutdowns and % battery left remaining I am thinking it is all down to the battery after over 18 months daily usage/charging.
Also interested in this.

Disassembly is fairly easy if you take your time and disconnect the connection points. Nothing is really glued in place aside from the bottom cover and the battery to the rest of the chassis. I was able to get to the battery within 20 minutes.
I was also able to find a battery on ebay. We'll see how assembly goes when it's delivered.
That is great, do you have the link to the battery on ebay?
Did you also have the same issues with random shutdowns, not being able to restart unless on the charger etc?
Keep us posted!
Thanks.
I confirm that disassembling the watch is pretty easy and quick, the only thing is you can say goodbye to the waterproof!
@sirdizzle415, does it come with the sealing? Please keep us updated if it does fix the reboot issue and if can even share the link
I only found 1 used....

I wouldn't trust it to be waterproof anymore, but I'm mostly ok with that. If this watch survives a little while longer with a used $25 battery, I'd call that a win over buying another $300+ watch.
I should be getting the new battery tomorrow, should be pretty quick to put it back together. We'll see what happens.
FYI, My new battery is still in route, so haven't had a chance to test it. It is available brand new on ebay though... If anyone wants to give it a try, the link is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Wa...1e1230fc8:m:mALL_k1FrV1tgtB_vyDJXTg:rk:1:pf:0
Make sure to select the LG-S7 battery for the Watch Sport.
Successful install of the battery! Watch no longer shuts off, and doesn't need to be on the charger to turn on.
I did try to carefully take my old battery apart. Multiple sources mentioned that it can be repaired by soldering a zero ohm link/resistor between two points. I could not identify them on the BL-S7 battery, so I probably won't be doing that.
All in all, it was a $25 dollar battery for me, so not a bad price to pay to extend the life.
I just ordered the one from ebay! That's great it's back in stock!! @sirdizzle415 Yours was a used one?? how did you glue back the back cover?
I know the watch won't be waterproof anymore, but I'm ok with that too.

My existing seal was mostly intact. The back cover also has tabs that snap it back in place.
Placed my order for a new battery.
There is simply nothing else to replace the Sport with LTE currently...unless you like apples.
I just received the new battery!
Results are not so great so far, the watch does stay alive and do not reboot/ shut down randomly anymore.
But after an hour using it to update app, hard reset it, I lost 40%... I didn't charge the battery yet, so I don't want to be pessimistic (yet) but I think my main issue wasn't the battery.
The watch seems too warm to me, probably something wrong with the hardware, other than the battery.
Plus, damn the watch is so slow with the new version of Android wear, so laggy!!
But true there is no better android watch anyway, which is a shame...
It seems that replacing the battery actually fixed the issue! I'm getting now a day and half of battery with only the bluetooth and NFC activated...
The watch is still slow from time to time, I have to tap the screen several time before it actually wakes up.
But for 20 bucks I guess it was the right move.

I think right around this day, I received a Wear OS update that really hurt the battery life... it's been better since, but I definitely remember a day recently when I got an update and battery life was terrible for me.
Just replaced my battery.
Straight forward job, managed to keep the seal in place too.
Watch started up with what little charge was in the new battery, 16%, which is promising, it wouldn't before, and also all the apps /configuration haven't been lost either.
The only disappointment is that the new battery is not actually new.
Okay it may not be used, but it was dated late 2016, actually slightly older than the battery it replaced, early 2017.
See how I get on with it now....
A new battery is a must!
I'm getting a constant 7am until 11pm, 16 hours off cradle, with 50% still remaining, and that is with LTE on all day, including everything else too!
The combination of new battery, and latest firmware updates has just transformed the usage and battery life.
It is a must upgrade!
Hello, I'm from EU, is there any possibility to get new battery now? I looked on eBay and it looks like all are sold out.. :/
Odesláno z mého MIX 2S pomocí Tapatalk
Just after keep watching.
Ebay seller when this thread first started sold out, but got more stock later.
Worth pursueing still very happy after changing my battery.
