[q] galaxy s not starting up? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My Samsung Galaxy S is not starting up. I press the power and nothing happens. The device was rooted and in fully working order. Then I turned it off one time and it suddenly wouldn't boot up. I've tried taking the SD card out. Removing the battery and putting it back in. I've tried to get into Download Mode and Recovery which I could do fine before but now it won't work. Please help the phones basically a brick now and I don't know what to do. I've tried everything

Man try this;I hope its useful :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310

Cheers but that won't work seeing as I can't get into download mode or recovery

Build a usb jig and force it into download mode then flash it with odin.

Building a jig is your best bet. Basically, connecting a certain amount of resistance across certain pins in your USB header should force the phone into Download mode...guide on it here

OK thanks i will try the jiggy thing!

Is there anywhere I can buy a jig? Because too much effort to make one

[Q] Is my phone toast? no download mode "phone-!-Computer"

So my newest captivate did not have the 3 button method to go into download mode.
I flashed to cog 5.5 v2.2 BETA5.5 a month ago and decided no to touch it until a fix came out.
I read on designgears page that flashing back to jf6 will re-enable the 3 button method, so i decided to go for it.
I got into download mode using adb, and then tried flashing with odin3 one click downloader (the one DG provides on his page)
while flashing, it gets stuck on the 3rd step that says "file analysis". I tried a few more times but always the same result, so i pulled the battery and tried to boot the phone back up.
Now i get the "phone-!-Computer" on my screen and i cant get into download mode at all. What are my options? I have heard of this homemade jig that you can make, but I'm not all that confident in my soldering abilities.
try this
1-run odin
2-take out the battery and everything else (SIM & micro sd card)
3-reinsert battery
4-HOLD DOWN both up and down volume buttons
5-plug the usb cable (make sure the other end is already plugged into ur computer)
u might get into download mode now !
if so, reflash to whatever rom u want

This only works for phones that can access download mode using button combos. My phone can't.
Any other suggestions?

got this about a month or so ago. My first one had it, cracked the screen and exchanged it and now this one doesn't.
DG recommends flashing to jf6 to enable it, but in the process i bricked my phone. Ironic?
i ended up making a jig and got it to go into download mode that way.
Its pretty easy and i recommend it to anyone who cant get into DL mode.
Also i think there was something wrong with the first version of I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 that i downloaded, because once i downloaded it again, flashing worked fine.

Not true. My phone doesn't have the three button access, but I can access it by holding the buttons and plugging in the USB cable.
Try it. You may be pleasantly surprised.
EDIT: or don't try it since you've already fixed it. lol

Please read above post.
Some phones CANNOT access download mode by using ANY button combo. The method you described is how my old phone would go into download mode, this one does not go into download mode.
"This combo works for me" might be the second most annoying post behind "GPS works for ME!!!"
Both are actual issues, just because yours works doesn't mean everyone else's will too.
Jf6 breaks download mode. You got it backwards.
Best advice I can give you is to keep trying...sometimes it does work

This.
I had the same issue and thought I had bricked it... If you plug the USB cable into the computer but not into the phone, then pull the battery out of the back, wait 30 seconds, put the battery back in and put the cover on, hold down both buttons at the same time and while holding them, stick the micro part of the SD cable into the phone, it boots into download mode.
tried both these, and a couple other combos i've found and nothing works.

Some people find it easier to explain their own problems than to read through others' problems to determine their fix. If you don't have the desire to help me out, then don't post in this thread. Your thoughts on how this forum could be improved aren't contributing to the fix of my phone so why bother?
I have the same problem. JIG doesn't help at all. BTW, I made two cable and tested on a working captivate. the JIG cable does work. It's just not working on the complete-bricked phone.
I tried any method I could find on the forum and nothing works. I don't even know how a successful flash (reported by ODIN) and the phone reboot itself and then complete dead after that.
so if I filed a claim for insurance no one be the wiser about me having unauthorized software on my phone?

You can still force the phone into DL mode by using a JIG. Have you tried that?
JIGs can be bought on Amazon or you can just build one yourself.

You can also build one if you are used to soldering. It's not that hard Anyways seems as if your problem can't be solved within a minute. If you have a local shop that sells electronic stuff, you can go and search for the parts needed to build that JIG It's nearly impossible to COMPLETELY brick your phone, so I guess this method will work!
Best Regards!

The jig should work mate the galaxy s series are virtually impossible to completely "brick". once u get your jig remove your battery for a minute then put it back together and use the jig to get into download mode... since ur phone is completely unresponsive it means there is no firmware or rom on your phone so u will have to start from scratch and install a 3file rom and then a cf+root. Then u will be sweet to start flashing your rom's through recovery mode much easier than dealing with odin. Hope this helps mate

How to unbrick samsung galaxy Mini GTS5570

My phone, (Samsung GT S 5570) Just died a few days ago while I was installing some software. The software was Clockwork Mod. To install this, I used an application from Google Play called -Rom Manager. After installing the app, I clicked something like flash clockwork mod, and a list was brought to me, from which I was to select my phone model, but unfortunately my wasn't among the list. So, I picked the first Model type and proceeded. The clockwork Mod was installed correctly and so I went to the next attempt and that was to Partition my SD Card. Consequently, my phone went off and I thought that it would restart on itself but....! I tried to restart it on my own but the LCD didn't even turn on. What do I do? To make it worse, the phone won't even go into recovery mode. The phone was already rooted, so no warranty. I suppose the phone is Bricked. Someone please help.
My email address, [email protected]
Thanks in advance.
Your phone is bricked and it's because you were trying to install CWM for a device that was probably not even remotely close to yours. Also wrong section I would suggest posting in this section forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1311 and seeing if they might be able to help you.

NEVER install CWM via rom manager it just isn't compatible with our device and 99.99% of people brick their phones because of it. And yes, your phone is probably bricked, hard brick. What u can do now is to try a usb jig method which is available in the guide in my sig.

You're totally out of luck on this one mate, now you have a very nice paper weight if you still have a valid warranty, just bring the brick to the service center and they'll fix it for you, but never ever mention flashing, clockwork mod or anything related it happened while updating with kies, that's it and guide for making usb jig provided by tietganFTW works, I made one for myself already and tested it on mini, so there's nothing to worry about on this one

[Q] Dead Galaxy Ace (GT-s5830)

Hello,
I have a problem with my galaxy ace.
I rooted it and flashed 2 roms succesfully (cyanogenmod (I can't recall which one) and another one (can't remember which)).
But when I tried to flash the third the phone went dead.
Now it won't do anything.
I tried to enter download mode with an USB jig.
I also tried to enter download mode by pulling everything out (sim, sd, battery) hooking it up a pc and hold vol -, home and power and reinstering battery.
I have searched for hours but it still doesn't work.
Anyone knows what's going on and maybe have a solution?
If you tell the name of roms you flashed, we can help. If the rom wasn't made for ace, then your device is hard bricked.

My presumption is confirmed.. I don't have warranty anymore but it isn't much of a deal. I got this phone to play with but it would be fun to resurrect it.
It's a hard brick. You may have flashed a ROM from a different device.
If a USB jig doesn't work, that's probably the end of the road for your ace.
Tech support may help, but they'll probably replace the motherboard and that won't be cheap.
Sorry, mate.
