Download ROM toolbox from the market, given your Thrill is rooted, theyll have a bunch you can pick from... I would just go as far changing your bootscreen with that app though. They do give you an option to change icons, but not every icon works on every phone and if you install one that's not for you phone (they don't tell you which is for which) you'll brick it and need to re-flash
I created a Green Lantern boot animation. I haven't been able to make it flashable but it's really easy to just place on your phone with Root Browser. I also have links to a step-by-step guide on how to create your own boot screen animations...
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/index.php?topic=17679.0
He even gives links to make the boot animations flashable if you want... I just found it easier to replace my current bootanimation.zip on my phone.

The same way you flashed the Fresh ROM is how you can change to other roms, you simply put the ROM you would like to use in the root directory of your SDcard, boot into the recovery (hold down home and power) and select flash zip file. The same way goes for changing boot animations. you must flash a new bootscreen through the same process.

You either reflashing the nexus one, one, over again, or you are not flashing a new boot screen. What one are you trying to switch it to?

whatever your trying to flash is not a bootscreen then. flashing a new bootscreen is very simple. plus it on your SD card and flash it, if its not working, then the .zip you are flashing is bad.

kk thanx sorry to bug ya lol....but do u have any links to bootscreens for da cdma hero?....
So... I got bored, and decided to make a custom boot animation/sound & shutdown animation/sound based on one of my favorite video games Portal.
Then I decided that having it as a CWM update would be so much easier if people wanted to use it. So, for everyone who wants to try it out... http://hardcorepooka.com/android/ApertureScienceUpdate.zip
Flash the update through CWM...
1. Choose "install zip from sdcard"
2. Choose "choose zip from sdcard"
3. Select ApertureScienceUpdate.zip
4. Choose yes.
5. Enjoy your new startup/shutdown
Keep in mind you'll need a kernel that supports bootanimation.zips for the boot animation to work. The rest will work without such a kernel.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you brick your phone, burn down your house, or any other bad stuff that might happen. You do this at your own risk. I and others have tested this and it works fine for us. Your mileage may vary.
Updated: Also, I remade the boot animation in white as well.... http://hardcorepooka.com/android/white-bootanimation.zip
This is just the boot animation .zip, no sound, no shutdown animation.
Aw, the file is no longer hosted
Can anyone post another link to it?

it's available within Rom Manager, under SonofSkywalker3's Blackhole custom ROM
The link above doesn't work, and I have cheapo Rom Manager... can someone fix the link?
Try PMing Pooka. I tried downloading it from Rom Manager but got a "Download error"
I installed this, and now when I flash a new boot/shutdown animation the aperture science logo still shows up at the end of the shutdown animation. The boot animation works perfectly though. Any idea how to fix this? I've flashed a deletebootani.zip, but that didn't seem to fix it either.

I tried PMing him but I got no response :/

Original link updated. Added white boot animation as well. Sorry guys, been away from XDA for a while.
HTC Aria support?
Is it possible I could install this on my Aria with the Liberated FR008 ROM? Thanks!
P.s. I was thinking of installing it manually and doing it through Root Explorer so I could save my originial boot animation.

The white one you can install manually. The CWM update you can just extract the boot animation out of and install manually.

You need to remove the files from /system/media/video/shutdown
The problem is that my shutdown animation has more frames than whatever shutdown ani you have replaced it with.

Which one? The white one you just move the zip to /data/local/bootanimation.zip
For the orange one you need to open up the update zip and remove the bootanimation.zip from it, then move it to /data/local/
Where is the boot and lockscreen shown in this utube vid with the sound ect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gg23Tvkjonc
It kicks butt and I so want it!
Ok got the boot screen to work but my phone just boots to fast for it to have time to play lol sound and everything works and I checked it as I turned off the phone and it played sound and animation, the only thing missing is the lockscreen from the vid anyone know where to get it?
Lockscreen is from the theme I had at the time... Frost's Remix NexTheme I believe... should be somewhere in this forum.

Thanks! very much for the help
Would these work on a Nexus One or Desire HD, sound included?
Watsup to everyone i just had a question is there a way to flash a diferent boot screen besides using adb or enrevoked. I came from a moment rooted ofcourse but all I can find is those two methods. I'm alsoasking beacause I no longer have my PC. If possible how would I dothis without a PC? THANX
Download the boot animation you want, make sure it's named bootanimation.zip, and move it via root explorer or another file manager of your choice to system/media. It should over write the current bootanimation.zip. Then just reboot.
If it's a flashable zip, then just flash via recovery like a rom or theme.

You can only modify the splash screen if you have an unlocked bootloader. You can achieve this via regaw's s-off unrevoked forever method (my favorite), you can also use the eng-spl fastboot posted by darchstar (I think). If and after you do that, then there is a guide on how to create you own splash, and a thread with already created ones. Good luck and enjoy.
I was just wondering what exactly makes a .zip CWM flashable?
I'm not sure what you're trying to ask...
Are you wanting to put CWM on to your phone via flashing with Recovery?
Or are you asking what actually makes the .zip do an update on your phone?

the script and layout of the files within the zip.

The second one. I was just wondering what kind of files need to be included in any zip that I would want to flash.
You can usually open any .zip or (or update.zip) to see the kind of way it needs to be set up, if you want to try something yourself.
I'll try that out, thanks!
the note's initial boot logo is ugly as hell. I'm talking about the one that says "Galaxy Note GT7000" or whatever. Is it possible to change that to something else after rooting?
You need to root your Note and then use an app like ROM Toolbox PRO
After root put the bootanimation zip file in data/media and reboot..voila

I'm not talking about the samsung animated boot screen, but the text that comes before that....rom toolbox can do that? i think what you(sumeshd) are saying is just the animation

Thanks for the reply, but I think you got me wrong; I already made my personal bootanimation but I want to know how to install it from ROM Toolbox Pro as I am on stock ROM and replacing the bootanimation.zip files don't work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=293IJ_lAB_8
hope it helps
Just rename ur boot animation zip to
bootanimation.zip and check it is a signed zip file by opening it with win RAR
it must show Signed on Right side pane in winRAR
put bootanimation.zip in /system/media
BINGO u are done now just reboot.
ive tried it and diily i do it
lemme know if u hav any problems
Stock ROM guys, stock ROM, we are looking for a way to modify the bootanimation on stock rom.
On custom ROMs it is very easy, we already got that.
