Galaxy Note S Pen not working intermittently. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just completely stops working! It resumes normal function after reboots and then fails again.
I have a month old N7000 with the LA4 stock ROM that I rooted then unrooted using the ZergRush method.
I uninstalled all new apps I put on, then reflashed my stock firmware again (which got rid of the "null" keyboard problem I had after rooting).
I wonder if anyone faced such problems and would appreciate any advice on how to solve/
troubleshot my S-Pen troubles.

Just for confirmation take your friends S pen and test. if then also it doesn't respond. then should suspect digitizer.

No joy, sadly. My S-Pen is completely dead now.
This is my second faulty Samsung (the other was an S2 with a yellow blotch on the screen). I am really put off by their product quality / quality control. This one is going back.
I really liked the GNote.
Back to my puny 18-month old iPhone 4.

[Q] Issue with Bell i9000

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone encountered this issue i'm having. I flashed docs jpm (froyo)which worked great for 3-4 days with 0 issues. I installed some apps, fb, twitter etc. then suddenly out of nowhere the hardware buttons on the bottom of the phone are do not work properly sometimes.
The list button will be lit, the return button is not, and when I click on the home button it makes the picture taking sound. I leave the phone for a minute or two, then it is back to normal. This is driving me crazy!!! Anyone know if this would be a firmware issue or hardware?
Thanks guys!
Henry
I had the exact same thing but only when the phone was hot i.e. After charge or while using it a lot. It was a hardware issue. I had the phone replaced. Try to put it in the refregerator a couple minute when it does that and see if it goes away.

Weird, mine never gets hot. I'm going to call bell and get a replacement then.
flash back to eclair, there is no i9000m specific froyo rom. if you experience these issues on an official canadian rom, then you have a reason to be concerned. a bunch of people have had issues with the jpm/jp6 froyo release...........though mainly sd card issues, not this.
I just flashed back to stock eclair and it seems to be working for far. Ill update here if it stops working.

Captivate stuck in landscape mode!! Please help!

Hello everyone, last 06/22 I bought 2 Captivates on ebay, rootted and upgraded to Froyo (I897UCKB1).
About a week later one of the devices was sitting in my desk by my side, went out of the blue it lighted up the screen and activated the DeskHome app, when I closed the app the homecreen was stuck in landscape mode.
After much writting to the seller and browsing the web, I reflashed the device, went to stock Android 2.1, connected the devices to Mini Kies, updated firmware back to Android 2.2 (I897UCKB1), everything seemed fine but the next morning the issue was back.
Then I rooted the device and with Titanium Banckup, uninstalled all AT&T apps, yet about 4, maybe 5 hours later, the homescreen again set itself in landscape mode. Calibrating the device doesn't help.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
The other devices works perfectly.
In case you think its relevant, I live in Venezuela and my mobile company is Telefonica Movistar.
Thanks.

Try a custum rom first , to see if this issue is still present .You can try mine , look at my sig .
you could also tilt the phone up
nah, but you could also try the KF1 gingerbread. IF your ready to read.
I just had the same issue. I uninstalled desk home as it kept activating on screen lock. I found that alone didn't fix the issue. I then rebooted my phone with my headphones plugged in hoping to take the phone out of its perma docked mode and it worked; I'm not stuck in landscape mode anymore. I think the root cause is DeskHome.

I had the same issue recently and no matter what i tried (going back to stock, or a custom rom) nothing seemed to work. Then I noticed that even though i was wiping the cache and user data there was still data and settings left over from previous roms. I had tried to recalibrate the horizontal but it didn't seem to want to calibrate. I used one of the stock roms that gave me the option to master clear wiped everything then went to stock and then to a custom rom. After that the recalibration worked and I was able to calbrate it and get it to work properly.
I would try to calibrate it and see if that functions properly. If as in my case when it is perfectly level it will not calibrate that could be your issue.
Please post in Q&A.

Please don't post the same question in multiple threads - it's a borderline spam maneuver, and not a good way to get the ball rolling on getting help.
Yes you can upgrade from to Gingerbread - if you're still on 2.2, just look for a Gingerbread rom you like, and most of them will post instructions on how to make the jump to Gingerbread.
If you still can't find out how to get there, look for something called the Heimdall one-click to stock UCKH3. That will get you there.

[Q] S-pen problem writing

I just recently got my note and I like it, I tried writing with spen and it worked well first week. Yesterday all of a sudden my phone stopped recognizing letters in the text write mode. The spen works fine just can not get any letters or numbers recongnized, not even a wrong suggestion. It all seems like I got some settings turned off but can not figure out what. Please help, thanks.
try re-install your room / factory rest that should sort u out
looks like you are having conflict in your apps
What is room and how do I do it?
He meant ROM but don't go flashing Roms unless you know what you're doing.
Before you start thinking about Roms - what had you been doing before the problem happened and what had you installed? Also, are you still on stock Rom?

I have not been doing anything to it but use it normally for voice, messaging and emails,
I have some apps installed from the android app store, I tried to put a screen capture of the apps but the forum does not let me post an outside link yet.
Yes I am still on stock rom, have not done anything to the phone.
Maybe a hardware fault?

Does not seem like it since the pen works fine draws lines nicely.
Any suggestion on what I can do?
I will try to make a video of it and post it.
Hey it works now, I was playing with swipe keyboard and after selecting Samsung keyboard back it started working. Not sure why it did not work before if I figure it out I will post it.
I thought it was some settings problem that I could not figure out.

Odd Touchscreen issues

Hey,
I have Verizon droid 3 running up in Canada, and its been working fine...however it recently started having issues with the touchscreen.
Basically the screen works normally 3% now, otherwise it only works when the keyboard is open to just above the first row of keys.
If I touch the screen while the keyboard is fully open it wont respond, but when I go back to the working position it will respond to a touch made while fully open (ie; I pressed ok after typing, it didn't submit until I closed the keyboard to the working position, like a delayed response).
It seems like a software issue, but I already hard reset.....
Any ideas? I don't want to change this phone after only 5 months (no Verizon warranty here!)..
Thanks,

Which ROM are you on, stock or a custom one?
Its a long shot, but I have odd touchscreen issues when plugged into cheap power sources (inverters, etc). You may want to check the battery - pop it out for a bit, put it back in, maybe try someone else's, etc...

Oh ok, then I'm not really sure. I would, if you want, try and flash right back to complete stock and see if your having the same troubles. If you are then it's almost guaranteed to be a hardware problem. However, if the problem doesn't persist then it could have just been some weird bug or glitch that happened. I've had some weird things happen a week or so after a flash and it was software related.
But all this would be having you do a reflash either through CWM/Safestrap or sbf and then you lose everything you have (Though you can backup & restore apps via Titanium Backup). So if you don't end up reflashing I understand
Also does this happen only at certain times/intervals say when your charging? Hope this helps!
Edit: I looked at the orig post at work and forgot to look at it again. A hard reset should be able to fix it, but you never know. I would recommend a reflash and see what happens. Sorry I can't be more help
I hate you. I read your post yesterday and thought "huh, that's really weird and unfortunate." I woke up today and the same thing is happening to me. I haven't flashed anything since April. It was totally out of the blue.
Mine only works when the screen is slid open bout half a centimeter, not even enough to force the screen to rotate.

That's exactly what's happening....It's been like this for a week. However, it sometimes works when I left it for the night to charge...or randomly, but full functionality lasts only a few minutes.
has there been any update on this status? im trying to fix a friends with the same problem.

It's strange.

i rebooted it a million times. closed or open make no difference.
today, it is working amazingly
what was the difference? nothing at all! it layed on my desk all night
i don't understand how the digitizer can go between perfect condition and not working as it wish.

my phone died for no reason

Had my note 3 about two months now. Running stock firmware.
I did root it with towel root . with no problems. I stated noticing my phone
rebooting out of nowhere. And pictures sometimes disappearing from camera roll and gallery. Where the pic should be was a blank space. I figured I had a hardware issue.
And was going to exchange it soon. But not soon enough. It went black and i have not got it to boot again. No lights come on when connected to charger or pc.sounds like
sudden death syndrome. I called att and they sent me a new phone.
my question is can I wipe it somehow before I send it back. Or will they even be able to tell it was rooted. I know knox was never triped..
thanks for any advice
You think the motherboard maybe fried or memory chip
I wouldn't worry about it. Rooting it won't cause a hardware failure.
Woudn't worry to much about it
