I have this installed [ROM] CyanogenMod-6.1.0-RC1 for Hero CDMA
I was running wifi tethering and installing a game called chess.
I heard my phone vibrate quickly and the screen was black. I tried to turn it back on. But nothing. So I removed the battery and waited a couple minutes. I cant get it to come on.
So I plugged it into a charger and the red/orange LED is on as if it is charging.
The phone will not even attempt to start up
Any ideas?

Phone just seems dead to me... probably just needs to charge for an hour or so
If it's not charge up and running by now, you'll need a new battery.
Thanksgiving day I had my phone on but was doing things around the house and when I went to check my phone it wouldn't wake. Holding down the power button, nothing, it was dead. I know the battery wasn't drained. So I plugged it into my USB and the light didn't turn on either. I sat staring at the phone for a few seconds to troubleshoot and it suddenly began to boot up and after everything loaded I could confirm it was half charged.
I'm running the same version of Cyanogen as you. Are you using the original battery or 3rd party? Mine is 3rd party.
Have you had other strange occurrences leading up to this? Twice in a week I woke up to find my phone on even though I know I shut it down the night before and not accidentally rebooted.
Since I was able to get my phone to boot back from temporary dead the phone has frozen twice while texting. I didn't battery pull or anything, it just rebooted by itself after a few minutes. I plan on switching back to my old battery to see what happens.
I was using my atrix and put it down went to get something to eat came back 15mins later and it wont turn on! It was at 56% battery! So i plug it in and the green LED turns on but I can't do anything. I have pressed the power button, and I have pressed the power and volume down together both for 10+ secs and nothing is happening please help!
Ever get it back on? My battery drained to 1% last night, so I shut it down, charged it all night, and now mine wont turn on. Has the green light just like yours.

I had to reboot mine in to flash mode in order for mine to come back up. I had to hold the down volume (or up cannot remember right now) + power for a minute nearly. Then it rebooted correctly into normal mode.

So I ended up calling AT&T and they went ahead and shipped me a new MAHD.
I took the dead phone to work and tried charging with my work charger, and now it works! When it finally turned on, the battery level was at 3%. So lesson learned: Do not let your battery drain to 1%!

I am having the same problem. I can get the boot screen up if i hold the buttons in at a certain time while the phone is plugged in and attempting to turn on. however, the phone cuts out no matter what and repeats the cycle even with the boot screen up. during the few seconds i can get the boot screen up, i'm unable to select an option, only scroll up or down and highlight them. then the phone cuts out and 20 secs. later attempts to turn on again but never gets past the motorola icon. Any suggestions? I originally thought it was the battery so i ordered one and installed it correctly and charged it, but still the same thing is happening. When plugged into a pc, charge light comes on but phone won't attempt to turn on....?????????

Our phone doesn't receive power from the cable until it's fully booted. Factory cables are a good work around.

I have the same problem.
I think it's impossible to fix.
I tested with original charger.
I have also tried every possible button combinations.
and does not start
Has anyone been able to fix it?
I cannot get my sisters TP to boot. I guess she let it die completely, so now when I plug it in, all I get is the home button to blink back and forth. If I try to turn it on, I get the red battery with a lighting bolt icon, then a white plug icon, and when I plug it in from there I get the "To reliably charge" message. I don't have the original ac adapter or cable because she lost it. I have already reflashed the A6 firmware. Also, if I leave it plugged it with the home button flashing, after about 20 minutes or so, the flashing stops for a few seconds, then starts for a few seconds, then stops again and so on and so forth. Is there anything else I should try? Or is this thing dead?
See if you can get an OEM cable or a Touchstone.

Leave it charging for a long time, 24 hrs +, it should charge.
Good luck.

You need to find an original charger or maybe a compare able 2amp Carter will work. A standard phone charger or USB port on your computer is not powerful enough to charge it.
Check amazon it shouldn't cost more than $10
I have another tablet charging block that is 5.0v and 2 amps, but when I use that all it does is make the home button flash then stop then flash again. I left it charge on my computer overnight to try and get it to trickle charge. When I woke up the home button wasn't flashing and when I try to turn it on, the red battery comes up for a second then the white plug icon. I guess I'll see about getting an OEM cable, hopefully that works.
UPDATE: I got it into "recovery" mode? It was plugged into my PC so I held power and vol up until my pc recognized it. But it's showing up as palm in the device manager, and no drivers seem to work for it.
UPDATE 2: My sister found her OEM charger and now it seems to be actually charging. Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if this doesn't work.
Yep, usually issues like that are because of not using the OEM Charger.

Battery dead, bricking issue
I have had several charging issues with my Touchpad. I am using ClassicNerd Butta OS. IF I am using the Android OS (Butta) and I turn off the Touchpad and then plug it in to charge it will restart the Butta OS. When this happens the Touchpad discharges instead of charging. So, when I come back later the Touchpad is dead and it takes a lot of messing around to get it going again. To prevent this I always turn off the Touchpad when I am using the Butta OS but I don't immediately attach the charging cable. Instead, I wait a bit. Then when I plug in the charging cable I immediately switch to the WebOS operating system. The device seems to charge well using WebOS. When it is done charging I unplug the cable and turn the device off. Next time I restart the Touchpad I let it boot to Butta. Then when it discharges to 80% or so I start the process again as stated. Sticking with these procedures has prevented the no-charge / no-boot issue from reoccurring. I also no longer charge the Touchpad at night. Instead, I charge it in the morning or during the day and only leave it on the charger for an hour or two until it is fully charged. It is my understanding that technique should result in longer battery life and better (longer) charge in the battery.
When my Touchpad battery has gone completely dead it is a real pain to get it to charge up the battery again. When the batter is totally dead the device will not boot into any OS or allow me to even get to the boot loader program. Takes a lot of messing around to get it to start charging again. Though I have been able to, eventually, get it to boot into WebOS and start to charge. But this was not an easy process by any means.
Also, I would agree that you really need to get a stock charger with the cable for your Touchpad. Using a different charger could damage the battery in your Touchpad and/or cause the battery to charge too slowly.
Good luck!

My Hp TouchPad tablet came today and I was told when bidding that it was doing exactly the same thing as mentioned here. I have the OEM charger and cable.. I'll let you know when I can get it straightened out and I hope it is a good one.. Thanks for the info..
While on the OEM charger it booted and I selected webos for the tptb to reflash A6, but soon after it was off charger it went back to the battery icon. battery life low I guess? I selected shutdown. Let it charge over night and see what happens.
Many thanks to many members who are so helpful...
Hi, i have an Atrix HD and its LCD got broken when it fell from 3 ft high.
The Glass is ok and the phone kept working for a while with a black triangle on top, the touchscreen kept working with no problems.
After a second fall from the bed the LCD went completely black, but the phone kept working (using a HDMI cable to check messages and touchscreen vibrating feedback kept working so i could answer calls).
I let the phone battery die and now it wont turn back on, the charging light turns on, when i plug it on a USB port on Windows i get a connected beep followed by a disconnection beep, as if the phone were detecting the LCD not working and turning itself off.
Is there a way to bypass that? i need to connect the phone to get the files from the internal storage.
I ordered a new LCD but will take a long time to arrive (normally 2-3 months, sometimes longer since a live in Brazil).

Yes, also tried turning it on with the charger on and hdmi on as well.
Ok, i tried using mythtools but it acts as if the phone is not connected, same as above, windows reacts as if i was connecting and disconnecting a flash drive so the phone has some response.
anybody has any idea on what i could do?
Ok, the screen arrived, i installed it, but seems to have the same problem
Can someone please help me out here, when i connect it to the charger, the green light comes on, and then off, is my phone dead?

Always use what the phone brings on box as accessories. This case will be Moto original charger
Also by now you should be able to turn your device on. Just remove charger and re-plug again and try to turn your phone on

The phone is in the charger for 3 days, now the light is not turning on again, when i hold down the power + vol down the green light blinks fast, i guess ill see if i can find a battery that is compatible to test, since the Atrix HD was not sold in Brazil, the Razr or Razr HD is right?

AHD and RHD batteries will work with the AHD. Remember, we do have the EB40 battery (RHD battery) mod that works with our device, and ours shipped with the EB20 (AHD battery).

Wow, i forgot the phone was there charging, after a week the alarm sounded, now it's turning on again, BUT the LCD is not, i tried disconnecting and connecting the lcd cable but did not solve it.
Another thing, after more than a week charging, only 17% charge, weird.
Maybe the LCD is not working? or the problem may be on the board.
I have this same issue. Except for the broken screen. My phone just stopped coming on. I did all the key combinations. Even opened it and removed the battery. Tested the voltage in the battery itself and it was fully charged. I tech on the Moto site told me it sounds to him like a LCD issue. I replaced the LCD and still nothing.
I plug my phone to the wall and get a green light for about 7 seconds or so. Then its off. A short time later,(couple min) it comes on again for a few seconds then off again. I plugged it to my PC and get the green light for the same seconds. The PC makes the chime that it would normally do when something is plugged into the USB. No changes done on the PC though. Doesn't try loading drivers or anything. After a few seconds, it chimes again and the green light goes out. Repeats about every 2 min.
Anyone found the issue?
I started letting my wife use my OG Moto X. She said it prompted her for an update (Verizon BTW) and it updated. The next day she said it rebooted several times and then would not come on. I took a look at it, got it to power on and it locked up and powered off. I got it to try to come up a few times, with various results. I got it to go into the bootloader and tried doing a factory reset, it just tried to reboot back into the phone. It finally would not respond at all. All I get now is when I attach it to the charger, the green notification light will come on for about a min and then go off. I have a charge cable that is "lit" so you can see when it is providing power. It goes off when the green light goes off, indicating that it is not charging. I have used several different cables and chargers as well. I am not sure what if anything can be done. TIA.
What green notification light?
Its the one in the earpiece. Its not normally used on the US phone. I am not sure why I am seeing it now.

The phone's battery is completely dead. When you plug it in to charge it, the green light indicates that the phone is charging but you wont be able to boot up the phone. After a while when its gone there is enough juice in it to power it on. It does not mean that its not charging. Keep the phone plugged in for 15 mins then boot it up. It should work fine.

Been there, done that. It still does not boot. I am thinking maybe the battery is kaput and not taking a charge. If I try to turn it on, the green light will come on for a few seconds and go off. Nothing on screen. Same if I try to go into bootloader by holding power and volume down.
Try the OEM charger and leave it for a few hours.

Let it sit on the OEM charger overnight. Still Dead. The green light came on and stayed on longer than it had before. Now when I plug it in, nothing, no light at all. I have removed the sim card to put in another phone, but that shouldn't matter. I am at a loss now.

you can try connecting it to a computer on a USB2.0 port and leave it there for around 30 minutes. If it doesn't boot, it could be a battery issue.
I have the same issue. I have tried a new battery and still am having the same issue. Anyone have any ideas as of what to do besides buy a new phone?
