Hi
I have an Acer Aspire Revo R3700 PC and it is about 14 months old.
The wifi connection seems intermittent and the speed is fluctuates a lot sometimes going to 1mbps.
I have two laptops in the house that can pick up 37mbps anywhere in the house (including at the side of the PC) but the PC can't seem to get to these speeds.
Due to the connection problems and now the speed, is it possible my wifi card is faulty?
If I got an N wifi adapter for the PC and somehow disabled the wifi card, could that solve my problems?
I have researched this problem on the internet and one of the older models of my PC has had faulty wifi cards.
Any help appreciated.

not connecting
when i still was running 2k3 i'd exactly the same problem, i most times solved it with resetting my phone till it got connected or goed to network cards (with wireless on) and manual connect to the netwerk there (a hundred times).......
I have a problem, my Kaiser connects to my WiFi Router which is a Linksys WRT54GR. And then after 10 seconds or (sometimes 30 seconds) I have no datacom. I am still connected though but no data is being sent or received. If I turn the WiFi off and then on again on my kaiser then I am again able to communicate for about 30 seconds and then it stops again. Does anyone recognise the symptoms ?

I have tested the WiFi Kaiser connection with my LinkSys WAG54GS and gives me no problem, works fine...
Tested with DLink Access Point without problem.
LinkSys with WPA and DLink with WPE...
No problema at all, Kaiser makes better like my last PDA, an Hermes one.
Regards.
Try a different channel on the router.
Wifi is pretty weak compared to my other PDAs, iPaq 6915, Q9000, T830, make sure you put the slider on maxium performance and even then the range is not very good.
That's not the experience I have.
I use a Linksys WRT54GL router with Hyper-WRT firmware.
I've no problems at all.
The connection is stable and fast even with the slider totally to the right (max. battery save).
Well...
I have tryed different channel.
My probblem is still in place when I stand right next to the router and have a full reception
I do not loose the connection it just does not send & receive any data, but the connection is there all right...
Hyper WRT firmware... I once flashed my old (very old) linksys router with one of those things and the router died on me, how safe is it now and do you have any recomendations?
I use max battery as well and the Kaiser performs on my home net (4 Linksys Wireless G APs) just like my 8525 good performance even with fairly low signal. I've streamed Slingbox for several hours straight with no disconnects.
I saw this problem described on another forum and unfortunately, the guy had to return his Kaiser. New one worked flawlessly.
I have had mine connected to a USR & Sweex wifi router and it is perfectly fine for prolonged periods of time, It might be worth hard reseting it and trying the wifi first before doing anything else, if its still doing it then send the handset back.

Do you have the DHCP server enabled on your router ?
When disabled you have to enter manually an ip address on your TytnII within the same ip range.
Otherwise you can't send and receive data.
Furthermore this looks like a DNS problem.
Vanstra,
I know now that it is a DNS problem... My DHCP is on and now I also set the WiFi on the Kaiser to best performance... I have proper connection now. I did have to reboot my Server as it is the primary DNS in my network. Well so far so good. Strange only that I have 2 laptops one desktop and an XBOX and they all functioned perfectly all the time...
This is probably a very specific issue that I'm experiencing but hopefully someone out there can help me.
I recently got an HTC Touch Diamond, running WM6.1. I use Internet Sharing on the phone and then connect it to my PC via a USB cable. I can then browse the web from my PC. If I now connect to my office VPN, it seems that the connection times out and / or is very slow. I can't even browse to other PC's on the network via the VPN connection as it times out. But I can ping the PC's so I know I'm definatly on the network.
Now I know what everyone is thinking... our VPN might be screwy. But if I use someone else in the office's phone (running WM6.0) I can connect and there is no problem whatsoever. The only difference is that he is on a different service provider than me (and of course a different phone).
I used to have a SE M600i before this phone and it worked perfectly on that (same service provider as now).
Has anyone experienced anything simular? Or have any ideas what I could check?
I've played around abit and found the following: When I take my SIM card and put it into another HTC running WM6.0 (can't remember the model) it works perfectly and I can browse our intranet sites over the VPN. So the problem is definatly limited to my phone.
I also used Internet Sharing on the other phone and then established the VPN connection from my laptop. I didn't change any of the settings so it is 100% the same on both phones as download from the service provider upon insertion of the SIM card.
On my phone when I'm connected to the VPN I can browse the network shares and download email, but as soon as I try and browse our intranet websites or try to connect to any database (using TOAD etc.) it doesn't seem to be able to retrieve data. Almost like the phone is not able to handle large amounts of data coming through... (i'm just guessing here)
Anyone know of any setting somewhere on the phone that could cause this to happen?
Finally got this working!!
I'm now using WMWiFiRouter to use my phone as a WiFi router and then connect to the internet from my pc. If I then connect to the VPN from my PC everything works fine.
I'm not sure if WMWiFiRouter implements Internet Connection Sharing differently than the normal ICS app on the phone, but it seems to work and it's pretty fast.
Can't believe it took two months - with absolutely no else seeming to have this issue - but I'm glad it's over now!!

i do. i cant even connect to the vpn, and using wmwifirouter the wifi button in comm manager is always switching to on.. even in flight mode !
so you're not alone in this one...
not sure if anyone had this same problem. I searched the forum but looks like i'm the only who has this problem.
my O2x can easily obtain and connect to my home WIFI network. the strength is good to excellent. but it couldn't connect to internet at all. All other devices can connect to internet thru this network except O2x. I look from the router setup and it can see that O2x is indeed connected. This problem started about a few days ago where before that (since last month) it could connect the internet but when the screen was off, i needed to reestablish the connection with my home wifi. Now, it connects easily but no connection to internet. I go to other network (my brother's wifi), O2x can easily connect and use internet although both networks are pretty similar in settings.
any idea to solve this? or workaround it?
thanks
Try running traceroute in a terminal window from your phone?
Where does the traffic die?
Seen the issue posted everywhere with the basic T/s off/on network and factory reset. Usually fixes for a bit but comes back.
Hard to report the error as when I open Samsung members to run diagnostic I can't load the splash screen unless I turn wifi off https://9apps.ooo/.
My unconfirmed suspicion is it doesn't like HTTP3 so apps that are modern enough to use it just hang until I go onto mobile data.
I actually work for my ISP so I have confirmed no local network or ISP related issue but no wifi adaptor card in PC to try a packet capture to actually confirm what's going on.
If you issues are like mine were (randomly wifi would report no internet connection while other devices on the network connected fine) it ended up being my router. Switched to a newer one and the issues went away. An IT friend of mine said it was likely because the router was older and while it said they were compatible they were still using different versions of one of the connection standards. If you have a different router, give that a try. Side note, the router is a TMobile internet gateway and is obscenely fast. The new wifi 6 is awesome.
