just to see if any major accident that occured when your phone..oh sorry when our phones are droped.!!! mine fell first time today but nothing happend
One month ago my phone was charging on my desk, with USB cable below the table. Someone rang on my door, and I've jumped towards it and pulled the phone from a table, smashed it on floor (parquet) and its still fine, without a single scratch (lucky me)
Since then, I'm trying to be more careful
Once
Once in one month . Small fall and nothing happened.
My last phone E71 fell like 30 times so I have to be careful
I can't believe how many times I've dropped mine considering how much I love the damned thing. My heart stops until I check the screen. I've learned I can't be lax when it is in my jacket's breast pocket, Whe I lean over my hand goes up. It's automatic. I think I need a holster for the sake of my medical bills
Oh the number? About 8 times in 3 weeks. So far, she lives.
twice, but luckily only on thick fluffy carpet.

OMG....!!!! Shouldn't have read this post... Mine fell momentarily as soon as I was looking @ ur forum. . But she still looks great as I saw her @ the first look.
3 times no damage
Galaxy Note GT-N7000
zero, I have a feeling that Note's huge screen can't withstand too much of dropping :/
Did not drop it a single time.
Once I threw my jeans towards bed, didn't know GNote was inside. No harm, it landed on the mattress.
Now I'm careful but not too much possessive.
Edit:
NEVER give your GNote to your gf. She's jealous of it n if she really wants..... there are bigger n better things she can hold.
Not only once in 3 month
:d
5 times....no scratch...yesterday was with some pen in my bag and now under the neon light i can see a lot of screen scratches...dumb [email protected]@!!

Was at a football game last Sunday & dropped my phone on the ground. It must of fell out of my lap when I jumped up to cheer. Now that hurts! I've been babying it too. Oh well, it was bound to happened sooner or later.
Now my Tilt has scratches on the left & right bottom corners. I was thinking about taking a fine grade of sandpaper & sanding it down. Has anyone tried smoothing out a ding on there phone before. If so, what did you use?
I just recently found a small nick on the top corner of my Tilt. I'm assuming I got it the same day I dropped it. That means my phone must of cart wheeled before falling on its back! *OUCH, That hurts literally!*

Thanks for the link! It's good to know that they sell the OEM casing. It's not cheap though.
I dropped mine for the first time on Saturday night. I almost cried, haha. I have one ding on the bottom corner, towards the back, by the stylus.
I've been doing really well, considering that I usually drop a new device a day or two after getting it.
Last week, however, I was showing off the camera album feature to my sister-in-law and she just had to have a go herself.
Cue my lovely Vario III hitting the ground a second later.
No damage at all though, so I've forgiven her!

That's when it's time to call AT&T......
"If the phone is all of a sudden not working the way it's supposed to... they replace it, free if it's still under warranty".

How funny that's where mine got scuffed up too, right next to the stylus. I was hoping the stylus was the one that substained the damage so I can chage it out. Mine also got scuffed up on the bottom left hand side. It bounced around first before laying on the ground. For the weight and size of this phone I was expecting more damage from the fall.
I guess the more your carefull not to drop the phone the more prone it is to happened.

I dropped mine couple of weeks ago... I was doing a research paper for my university, and papers were all over the place... and sadly my TyTN II was between two papers... so when I pulled one of them... the device flew in the air and landed on the floor... fortunately there was a thick carpet on the floor... thus no harm is done... but during the next five min while I was checking if my phone is still working... I was so pale and scared :s
Man! I hope this does not happen to any of you guys...
Cheers
dropped mine after 2 weeks of having it - i was jogging to the bus at the time - fumbled it out of my belt ouch and dropped it - i accidentally stamped on it at the same time, on rough knobly tarmac, face-down - i skidded a bit on it too, sort of like a sktebaord - i was like 'omgomgomg' picked it up and by some sort of miricle the screen was untouched - fascia is a bit knacked but it all works just fine, only thing is the tilt mechanism is a bit loose now though its still sturdy (ie i can push the top right side and the screen bit will angle slightly against the body, but only by a few millimetres)
Coming Soon...

This will cover any damage to the case and protect it.
I was running into work in a heavy rain carrying a large laptop bag, so I was running fairly spastic, and my Tilt popped out of the case, slid face down on the sidewalk into a puddle. The battery popped out, as well as the stylus. I grabbed all I could find (had to go back later to find the stylus) and shook it out. Then I used a heat gun to gently warm the unit up. after 2 hours, I put the battery back in and it powered up fine, except the touchscreen was dead.
I then left it on my desk on charge with bluetooth, 3g,Wlan and screen full bright on, to generate as much internal heat as possible. After another 2 hours, the touch screen would randomly activate items on the today screen, every minute or so. After watching that for an hour with no real response from the touchscreen yet, I power cycled the phone, and to my surprise, the touch screen worked. Been working ever since.
Luckily the battery poped out otherwise I would think the device would have got fried?
Well, as idiotic as it may sound, I did put the battery back in and power up the phone while it was wet. It seemed to boot up just fine, but I pulled the battery after 15 seconds as to not push my luck.
My Drop . . .
I was running up stairs in my office building (concrete with metal stairstep edging), when something (my Tilt OMG!) suddenly clattered onto the stairs - apparently I had not made sure the magnetic flap on my case was firmly connected - it popped open and the SIM card holder popped out - I fearfully picked it up and inspected - can't find a scratch on it! and it works fine, and nothing seems loose! I'm shocked, surprised and pleased, but will be more careful in the future, obviously (in almost 2 years with my Wizard, I never once dropped it!).
Try to burnish the scuffed areas with a smooth piece of plastic. Start slow and it might kind of fill in by smoothing the rough edges. Kind of like a good paint job on an auto, get it flat as possible and it will shine like a diamond in a goats A*s.
Dropped my 8525 a couple of times and fixed it as mentioned above. Dropped my tilt the first day and it missed the concrete by a fraction of an inch and landed on carpet. Lucky for me only the back flew off and my great little toy is unmared so far.
The older I get the less my hands seem to be actually connected to my body and under my control...
Did I mention I love my tilt and this site?

What kind of plastic are you using?
I tried using some Brasso Metal Polish, but it didn't do anything for it. The Brasso would work on scratches, but I have chunks missing from the plastic on my Tilt & dings. I'm willing to try anything as long as I don't harm my baby! I already feel like she's been abused! LOL!

Does AT&T do exchanges on accidental drops. What about if its passed the 30day window from the say you pruchased it?
Alright so, long story short. I went to go jetskiing today, on the Potomac River, and well, I thought I had taken my phone out of my pocket before helping my friend take off the jetskis off the tralior into the water, I waded out and felt my pocket get really heavy, and just so happened my phone was in my pocket. I freaked out and popped out the battery. ( i think thats what saved it. ) but so i just left it in the car, so it had time to dry. Came back about 4 hours later, and went home and put it in a bag of rice, I turned it on though, spiting I wanted to know if it worked. Phone worked, but only out the back speaker and volume was muffed and really low. Touch screen worked perfect! but none of the hard keys worked. I was pretty upset so I put it back in rice and popped off the back speaker cover and prayed that it would work. Just a bit ago, popped on the back cover and turned it on. EVERYTHING WORKS! I was so shocked, at first it was being tempermental. But a few soft resets and BAM worked like a charm
my little rant about how my phone survived a little swim with the fishes.
mods, please move if its not in the right area. thanks

Hey,
It is a great thing that you had just added the "Bubble Cab"®.
The only authorized and working application that saves your device from
drowning. (as it surrounds all of the small and electrical connections, soldering points, and internal parts, and completely squeezes all impact of water and moisture from your baby (the phone). When _any_ water or fluid contact happens or occurs !
Also as a further precaution the rice trick*© probably did not hurt !
--- All jokin' aside ! Still kinda laffin' .....
I was really happy to see your phone didn't drown ! (VERY Sincerely)
Your quick thinking to take it apart (the battery, and all) and allow it just to dry. Probably did the trick.
Anyway was very happy to see your AOK !
And another little known fact the Bubble Cab® will in fact ! Resuscitate a drowned phone !
And can be purchased via tru Mr. Mbudden, his Program is currently out of Beta !
And Full Product BubbleCab 1.01 ® is a steal ! at $16.95 !
Thanks
david !
Bubble Cab®
Hey !
Also, let me know when the Beta is finished on :

Um... Fell in the ocean and you just dried it, you didn't flush it out? Mmmmm, corrosion. How long ago was this?
To the OP (and everyone), I would suggest you not use the phone unless it's been drying with rice (or, get dessicant) for several DAYS. I think you got lucky it still worked after such a short drying period.
I think the phone would have recovered faster had you dropped it in the toilet right after Kumar visited White Castle. Potomac river water can make you lose your hearing! That water is nasty!

This was well over 4 months ago. As far as I can tell it is still working as it should ( I havent used it in a while but I just juiced it up, put my sim in it , powered it on, and tested with a call )
I probably should take it apart again and clean it, but im not too worried about it.

Hi guys..
I've gone into depression! My cell phone fell in water and it probably stayed there for 10-15 mins. As soon i saw that I removed the battery and left it for drying for 3 days and I haven't done anything else to it like charging or trying to switch on in between. After 3 complete days I switched it on - what happened was that the display looked clean it showed the SE logo and then the logo remained there and after a while the cell restarts itself and shows the logo again and thats it - it keeps doing it until i remove the battery!
I thought the OS is gone crap so I checked if it still recognises my OS - i pressed the vol down button and started and it properly showed my OS.
I tried formatting the cell (Hard reset) - it successfully formatted itself and when it restarted - the problem persisted!!
I would've easily gone to claim my warranty but I have Hard_SPL installed in my cell and I believe they will take it as a tampered phone and not rectify it.
I simply love this phone can anyone PLEASE help me solve this out?
Anyone? I need you guys' help!
Darn No one replied here or what! Anyways I got it done myself!
All I can say is warranty wont help for water damaged phones (they can check) and perhaps looks at youtube videos for removing water and perhaps flash a different rom. Never happened to me though.
If you have insurance, claim.
Otherwise - thats it
Hmmm...if it drowned, it's probably dead.
Did you give it mouth to mouth resuscitation asap?

I\ll summarize what I did.
The moment I saw i removed the battery, sim card and kept the cell for drying. The last day, 4th day, I kept it in an air tight container and kept that silica thing which comes with every electronic packing to absorb moisture. Put everything back and switched it on - Not a trace of what happened - it worked as it did b4!
Just to add my friend's cell phone - Nokia E72 hardly a week old was also with mine. He switched it on after 20 hrs and it worked fine!!!
Hmm. It may be a bit late, but try throwing it in a bowl of rice for a little, sucks out all the moisture, (whenever i wet my electronics, this trick always works) usually about a days worth of time. Other then that, Try flashing a new rom, you really can't hurt it any worse, and since its loading the boot thingy, you may still have a chance...
Hey guys as I mentioned before. my xperia is working fine now It worked after I dried it for 4 days.

One thing you missed is to soak it in distilled water before drying. That'll make sure you don't have a thin film of salts/dirt/gunk on your board, especially if the water it fell in was dirty
yeah you are right but i came to know about it only after 3 days between which I had no access to the Internet. After 3 days I dint have the guts to do it and I was pretty sure the water was clean.
I fell in the water with both my x1 and ipod touch and both of them died
but put them both in a tuber-ware with rice on the radiator for 24hours and both came back from the grave as good as new

My friend regrets buying E72. Not because he doesn't like it but because when buying he didn't think of any other phone. He was taken to a mobile shop and he was told (by the one who gifted this cell to him) to buy any cell phone he likes. When he told me about this I shouted at him for doing this blunder of not getting an iPhone or something. He said he dint realise it
I personally think E72 is a bad choice.
I went to a river just for fun with my friends. I'd kept my cell and this guy's cell in my bag and went swimming, the bag slipped into a stream of water... ;( I had three cell phones in this bag. X1 and Nokia 6630 which are mine and my friend's E72. 6630 had a narrow escape! But luck wasn't all that good for the other two
Hi,
Got my HD2 couple months back and using it with silicon cover since beginning but now I want to take the cover off and show the real beauty of the phone to everyone but I am too scared to take the silicon cover off because I am clumsy and I drop my phone way too frequently.
I know the phone looks very durable but exactly how durable is it??? can people share some experiences like oh I dropped it from 5ft and it was intact or oh I dropped it from 2ft and the screen broke etc etc.
I used to have HTC Kaiser/tilt and I dropped it way too my times without any covers but it never gave up on me.
PS: I know there is no real way to define durability of a cellphone but u know there are some cellphones which are really delicate and u have to handle them with extra extra care. While there are some like the kaiser who are made for rough use. Just want to know which category our HD2 belongs to?
not very. i've cracked my screen twice.

oops!!! sorry about that!!!
did you drop it screen facing down? or on some corner of the phone?
I've used mine without any sort of protection since the day it was released in US (end of March). It does not have a single scuff, mark, or scratch anywhere. I just dropped it for the first time a week ago from a counter roughly 2.5 feet onto a hard tile floor and still no scuff, mark, or scratch (I don't know how it fell as it was dark when it happened and I was looking in a different direction; turned my head while headphones were plugged in so it pulled it off the counter).
I'm extremely happy with the durability of the HD2.
Since Nov
Ive had my HD2 since Nov last year...
No cover no protection.. and it looks like new.. I dont know how you managed to break the screen twice.. you probably throw that phone in some weird angles.. but really does last well!
dropped mine from my lap getting out of my low car onto the bitumen and fell back down perfectly flat. absolutely smashed the screen but 2 months later its still working fine and waiting for it to die before replacing the screen. i work installing solar panels (PV) on roofs, crawling though ceilings, etc. sees alot of abuse so while the screen smashed the components inside are well placed. had it before america could get it (in australia)
i got it since 10 months now, without any cover. screen is absolutely clean, but the rest looks a bit used, but not that bad
a friend is using it without respect. throwing it over the table and such things, he never broked something on the phone.. the screen stopped working one time and he needed it to replace cause that, but it didnt break xD
another friend broke his screen when his hd2 fellt on a freakin spoon on the floor (WTF did that spoon on the floor?)
Had it 2 1/2 weeks, no scratches, no scuffs. Just annoying dust under the screen
I have mine almost a year now.
A few weeks ago he started acting weird. Screen flipped sideways and putted speaker on.
I've send it to repair and they replaced the motherboard. Everything is ok now again.
No scratches after such a long time with no screen protector.
ive dropped mine once from about 3 fet and it only made a slight scuff on the corner
ive always had a screen protector but never any other protection and it looks great for the past 4 months
very happy with it

If you get dust under the screen, then it is a factory defect. Since the screen is glued to the LCD, somewhere around the edge it's not completely sealed. I have had mine for 7 months now and I do not have even ONE spec of dust under the screen, and I carry it in my pocket without any protection at all, all the time.

When I say dust, I mean there were a couple of hairs in the screen when I got it. They don't affect any viewing pleasure so I didn't return it
I'm 5'7"ish, and had the phone held around my chest. Slipped out my hand and hit the floor, carpet. Would any problems occur from that drop/fall?

Due to the gforces of the sudden deceleration, a problem may occur where the once seperate chemicals in the battery cell may have combined. There is now a very high risk of explosion.
However, there is a fairly simple workaround. While holding the phone upside down in your left hand, hop in a counterclockwise direction singing your country's national anthem backwards while hitting yourself on the head with a shoe. Hope this helps.
I've done worst with my stolen diamond...
I can remember it clearly as yesterday...
The Diamond was brand new: one of the first phone with G-sensor, so I installed the mighty app that turn is in a lightsaber!
Well, after 5 or 6 swing it slipped from my hand hitting the highest part of the door and then falling to the ground...
Not even a scratch!!!

Thank you sir, for starting my day with a bellyful of laughter.
Otoh, if it works, do a reboot and check it out again, if its ok, then I guess its ok. I fumbled in catching my phone thrown to me from the first floor, fell and hit the gravel/mud berm/sidewalk of the driveway. Slight unpeeling of the black enamel of the aluminium bezel at the top left corner (on the front side) just near the headphone socket, but still working for almost a year now....

I dropped mine a week or two ago on a ceramic floor while sitting down. My heart stopped beating as I hopelessly saw it fall to the ground but was rejoiced when I saw it didn't even have a ding!
I've dropped phone alot. The worst scenario which happened was 3 months ago.
I was waiting teacher on 4th floor and sit on bench while touching phone then i put hand on stair's waiting and hands were little sweaty and it dropped. I was like wtf?! Surely it's on first floor and burst into little pieces (I did get mini heart attack). Instantly i went downstairs and phone was laying on 3rd floor and seemed to be in one piece. Then I pressed power/sleep button. Everything worked. it did get a little scratch on it's drake, nothing major. It's still a mystery how did the phone get from 4th to 3rd , probably a 1/100 epic bounce and it fell like 3,5m to concrete stone floor. Even battery cover was attached. Seriously it's as tough as Nokia 3310. So that's my story, I'm very sleepy, and It's all true amazing, uh? Using Nik rom for now and I'm typing this on my HTC Incredible S
