So I recently rooted my revo and flashed gingervolt to it and love it. My wife has a revo as well same exact version and everything bought on the same day in the same store running the same software. She thought it was cool and asked if I could do it to hers. I plugged it in to the computer and all it does is charge. No usb icon or anything. I tried multiple computers, multiple cords, messing with debugging as well as the settings that change it from mass storage internet connection and charge. Any help would be greatly apreciated. BTW when i plug in my phone it works fine..

Throw the computer out!!!
Is this a new issue with her phone? Have you changed anything on the phone?
It could be a driver issue. Make sure you have an up to date driver package on your computer, and on your phone. Then try again. If that don't work, it might be a hardware issue. 99% of the time, bad driver programs. Good luck.
If it were the drivers wouldn't it not work on mine too ?

Probable, but before going with the idea of a hardware issue... I would try it again. I mean, it's really up to you. You got a good head on your shoulders, and seem like you can check that. If you want, you can jump in your car, drive the 5 miles to a Verizon store, and tell them. They will ask you about the drivers anyhow. To which you will nod yes. To which you are then relying on a person who doesn't know their own ass from a hole in the ground to work on your phone. I am a dummy, but I have worked on my own phone since day one... with the help from this community. Thanks MT.. and The Cubed.
Just try the drivers again, then a back up, and factory restore, then the drivers again, then... then... the god forsaken store. Good luck.
I appreciate all the help. How would I go about getting drivers or whatever. Both on my phone and computer.

These are the ones I've used since day 1 and the drivers have worked for everything I've done. Make sure you scroll down a little and get the ones for Verizon.

I have tried like 3 different usb cables. I some cases it do conect to the PC and charge but when I change the position of the diamond the USB conection get lost. Although it seems like charging it but the battery does not get fully charge it.
Please help. Right now it was not in my plans to pay for a new phone
have you used the fast charge program ever? It sounds like the port on your diamond is calling it quits, diamonds have always been bad about getting hot around their port and they can only take so much heat before they crap out. I am sorry to have to say this, but I think its on its last leg.

Im sorry, I am one person, what was your question? I have had issues as well with not receiving help on this forum, I get plenty on the CDMA Hero forums, I think the problem is not many people are still using this phone, hell I only use mine every couple weeks when I want something other than my Hero
Anyways, please let me know what I can help with, PM me if necessary
Ok i know there is probably something already out there but im REALLY FREAKING OUT. I updated to 1.8 and throughout the day it killed my battery and i got home and was gonna flash back to 1.5 and while RSD was flashing it failed. I then realized i forgot one of the most important steps... To have a full battery.. i think my phone died while flashing... is it bricked? If so im f************cked... please respond.
If i did brick it, is there anyway i can contact moto support and get a new device?
Edit: I unplugged it from my pc and pulled the battery and plugged it back in. My pc recognizes it as a USB Mass storage device... is there still hope for me?
Ok so after sitting here for a while my phone booted back up i did notice that RSD lite managed to create a image thing? Idk what that is so im just guessing that maybe thats what saved me cause i could have sworn i read that it would for sure brick your device. Run on sentence. Spare me grammar Nazis. Anyways the phone is back up and running and you can be damn sure im going to charge this all the way before i try anything like that again. thanks for the quick responses and sorry for making a new thread for this... feel like i spazzed out if a mod could remove this thread?

I cant answer the other question because I dont know, but if you have insurance or whatever its called on your phone if it really does turn out to be bricked then you could have it replaced using that... (from what I heard if you do have that you only get like 1 or 2 replaces before they wont let you do it again for the year just an fyi)
and I mean insurance through AT&T not moto

Thanks, i didn't buy the insurance for my phone... Is there anyway i might be able to tell a little white lie?
Only one way to tell...
Charge the battery fully and turn it on. Try reflashing the sbf and see what happens.

if it can see that, can you get it into the RSD mode by holding down the + volume button?
Have you tried letting it charge on mains for a while? Might get charge and be able to flash.

I would first try and re-flash it... but if it does not work then I leave that up to you and your conscious about getting insurance for it after its already messed up and stuff... but I would suggest even if you do get it to work, you may want to invest in that if you plan on doing a lot of developing on it or anything like that, which gives you a chance to brick your phone.
In a nutshell... I rooted with superoneclick...Verizon update un-rooted me...can't re-root. Tried using LGNPST to flash stock rom... initially found phone and all was well but got error- can't find USB in dload mode. Phone stuck on -do not remove cable- screen... I had to pull battery. Now my USB port is not working at all (No Icon... tried drivers, cables, 4 different computers, have a second revolution is recognized quickly) whereas before this it was intermittent and I would get it (USB) back after several battery pulls and reboots.
I would like to bring this phone in to have it checked out but since I'm not rooted I can't get rid of the files associated with the original root (such as superuser). I did a factory reset hoping to get USB back and/or get rid of these files to no avail.
I must add I am super new at all this... I've read a lot on the forums but I don't know what I am doing. I didn't install Rom's or do any flashes. Just Wifi Tether, and titanium backup. Which means I also don't have clockwork (I literally just rooted a day or two before update)
Can anyone get me out of this MESS?? I just want to clean up my phone to bring it in for service/exchange but fear they will realize that I rooted.
Please!!! And Thank You for all the great work you do here
Check your cable I had same problem when I used a usb not supplied by verizon. The retailler will do a swap they do not have the time or expertise to check for a root or rom change. Water damage is all they look for. I used to manage a vzn reseller.
So is the phone working or no? It sounds like either it works or that it is stuck in a download screen.
Many cables tried
Thanks for the response... But we have 3 LG phones in the house, 2 Revolutions and a Optimus. I tried all 3 (LG Branded) cables on my phone, which didn't work...but did on the other 2 phones. I think since the other revolution connects easily with a cable to the computer that it is probably not a cable or a driver issue. I may be wrong, but it seems to make sense???
Also, The phone works fine other than there being no USB communication. Thanks for asking...
I fairly new to this as well but I have a thought. If you still have superuser try to use ti to remove the apps you installed and then remove superuser. ti can be uninstalled from the market. No promises if this will work but it is a thought. Hope it helps.
Remove superuser
Can you remove superuser from the market?? If so, I need instructions please.
Try to use Titanium backup which you got from the market to uninstall anything not from the market and then uninstall that. That should get you squared away. I hope...
That's all they look at in the store but they then send the phone to Verizon and if Verizon sees that it was rooted they will send you a bill for full retail of the replacement phone you were given. (Seen it happen many time)

Quite the opposite for me I've sent back a fascinate rooted with community rom and wireless tether, 1 eris rooted with kaosfroyo and wireless tether on it, and 4 other eris' rooted with tethering and never had a problem. Yeah, I tried...it's looking for root
O wow thats a lot. I've done it once on accident and got away with it as well. I shouldn't have said seen many times as I've only seen it happen once but have heard stories online. I guess it just depends which employee looks at it. When u root your phone your warranty is voided so if u recieve a warranty replacement and they see your phone was rooted then u are not entitled to the replacement so they ask for it back or say pay up.

Warranty voided by rooting ?
I am a little concerned about the report of a users phone root voiding a replacement. Think about it for a minute, Android is open source and freedom to write apps is encouraged by all manufact. When you root a phone, the software is not illegal Google market sells root apps for other phones. Do you think the manufacturers would allow the official marketplace to sell apps that could void warranties? BS, this sounds like Sony's attempt to deny PS3 owners replacements after their required sys updates would brick their consoles. I had a buddy whose console froze up and he had to get an attorney to file a complaint before they would warranty it. If that happened to me I would file with the BBB or protest loudly at VZN.
ok heres the deal,
Bought a bell atrix hd from a member here, had it 4 hours and the thing goes into a bootloop which it recovers from, but after it doesnt want to charge or be recognized by my laptop or pc.
it dies.
I crack it open and wire the usb cable directly to the battery to charge it.
It boots.
I then proceed to give it a good charge for fastboot rsd use. The phone isnt detected in rsd lite. I then boot back into android and change mass storage to ptp, get the same results in fastboot.
I tried different drivers, rsd versions, and get nothing, but the error code 43 telling me to replace the device. I cant believe that this phone isnt capable of being fixed. I have adb setup and cant pull it up there either. no matter what I do it just says plug in usb cable in fastboot. Ive tried factory resets via os and via factory recovery.
Anyone have any ideas?
sounds to me like the pins are messed up in the usb micro port... try warrantying it... call moto
Pins look ok. I'm not the original owner. How would I go about the warranty?

if it still has the one year manufacturer warranty left you just contact the manufacturer and they ask for serial number, imei, etc and will tell you if its covered. thats what happened with my htc nexus one, even though i was second owner

I hope I am not duplicating a thread, the XDA search function appears to be down at the moment. Last night I put my phone on the charger (OEM HTC charger); the battery was low, but the phone was still on, and it appeared to be charging. When I woke up this morning (late, since my phone acts as my alarm), my phone was turned off. Now I am unable to turn on the phone at all, and there is no orange charging LED. Unfortunately I don't have the money for a warranty exchange/replacement/repair (and probably won't for a while), so I will be without a mobile until this gets resolved. Please help, you guys are my only hope.
Steps I have tried:
Leaving the phone plugged in for a long while.
Holding vol up and power for several minutes.
Holding vol down and power for several minutes.
Holding vol up and down and power for several minutes.
Plugging it into a computer.
Using several different chargers.
Removing my SIM card, and trying all of the above again.

Unfortunately that doesn't appear to work for me. When you had to do this, was your device completely dead like mine, or were you able to see the orange charging light?
Just 2 days ago mine did nearly the same thing. It just seemed to run out of battery REALLY fast and wouldn't charge again until it completely ran out of battery. And then it wouldn't charge properly with any chargers, the led was flickering , cutting out then staying on for a few seconds etc. I left it overnight plugged in and it charged it finally me, but now my phone is going crazy.(270 rotation even when it's rotation locked, not recognising headphones or USB connection and more.) Maybe we both have faulty motherboards? I'm pretty sure mine isn't a software problem after numerous factory resets. I know this isn't really helpful but we're having a similar problem so if someone can help, this info could be useful? I just emailed HTC but I'm bootloader unlocked and running ARHD som I'm not that optimistic. They might try to blame that, even though I know it's not the problem.
Disappointing after 3 months of love and tender care that something like this goes wrong.
Um there might be 2 possibilityes:
1. Your phone is hard bricked (google it if you don't understand), witch may be caused by bootloader malfuncion while your phone was shutting diwn, in case that something might got corrupted
2. Hardware faliure. You might have something burned on your pcb, or you might have a dead battery

When I plug the phone into my PC, it now installs drivers for "qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008"; does this indicate a hard-brick? If so, I read somewhere else that if I used JTAG, I could potentially fix the phone. Is this a program that can be downloaded? If it helps, I do have one of SkOrPn's cables that I used a while ago to fix my Kindle Fire. T-Mobile is saying they won't do anything because the camera lens on the back has a small crack in it, even though they admit that it is unrelated to the issue at hand.

Now that you say the qload brick ,try this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136738 .
If not, jtag is an hardware tool, witch costs atound $250. I suggest you either try this tool, or find a unifficial service that has jtag riff box, that can help you out.

Thanks for the reply. I see that the tool they posted is for the AT&T Galaxy Note. Will this tool still work for the HTC One? I've got Linux machines available to use the tool if it will.
I had the phone for one month and it stopped charging. TMobile gave me a second charger at the store two weeks in since that's when it started. One month and a day after getting the phone it completely stopped charging. You had to rotate the cables in weird positions to get a charge. I think it's the USB connector on the phone or the battery. The store is mailing me a replacement for $20. IM using my backup S2 till then. I was rooted on Revolution the entire time. Suffice to say I think it's important to delicately remove the cable after charging. IM angry about this since I've had zero issues with my Samsung devices and thought I'd try the One.

I see, thanks for the help. Yeah I'm not very happy with T-Mobile right now. Basically, they won't even handle the repair/replacement because there is a small crack on the camera lens; I've spoken with two different representatives at T-Mobile who gave the same response. What's worse is that they admitted that it is obvious the cracked lens is completely unrelated to the fact that the phone won't boot. My next path is to interface directly with HTC to get it fixed, which is of course going to cost more money. If I at least had better coverage where I live and work, it might be a different story, but so far I've had nothing but bad luck with them. Once I can get out of this mess, I'll probably switch back to Verizon, and maybe give their Edge program a try. Sorry about the rant, but this is just getting silly.
:silly:
