Hi, I've just bought an OB and my carrier, Telcel-Mexico, has released GB, but many people are complaining in the LG mobile Mexico FB page that this release has many bugs, apparently due to being V20a (LG is only stating it is V20, no suffix). Can anyone describe the differences between V20a, V20n and any other official release? Do you guys know if v20a is in fact buggy?
Thanks in advance.
I don't know if the verison is buggy. But i tried too. My country also has V20a version. I didn't see any bugs. But i saw this. In V10b there were stupid programs of the GSM company which brought the phone to my country. In V10c some of them gone. In v20a none of them exists but there are still some stupid programs that only exists in our rom. the tech guys here install it i guess. And also our V20a doesn't have FM radio. Since v10b we don't have that.
So i flashed V20b from the thread. Only had default crappy Lg apps. i removed them. It's very stable. Has FM radio. Haven't encountered any bug yet. Bu my battery doesn't last a day. The programs i use has a contribution on that too but still... First i thought the a,b,c,n,..x letters are only for dividing, you know "a" for these countries, "n" for those, for language packages an etc.. But now i see the further the letter the better the rom. Not %100 true but %90 true in my opinion.

hi there, anyone here using a o2x from malaysia?i got a few question, when i bought my o2x,the firmware is v10a,n then after i upgraded my firmware using lg mobile update to v10b,it seems that the rom is starhubs rom(coz theres a starhub logo at startup screen and a few starhub app),so my question is,issit normal that my rom seems like starhub branded?
Hi. Good question, and it was something I was wondering myself.
I picked up a parallel imported O2x here in New Zealand that was Starhub branded (i.e. with the Starhub boot screen and apps).
I flashed the ROM to the Australian stock 10a ROM to get rid of all the crappy Starhub stuff, but after running LG update, all the Starhub stuff came back.
My best guess is that LG update uses the IMEI to determine what ROM to update the phone with, rather than the current/existing ROM on the phone. Can anyone confirm this?
I'm currently running the UK 10d ROM, and I'm happy with it. No branding, and it comes with a few extra (game) apps that the Starhub/Australian ROM's don't.
I got mine almost 2 weeks ago. Its on 10b, no branding.

hmm weird, coz my set is a official lg malaysia set,not ap,i think i should give lg a call,if the cust service understand what im trying to say, hehe
sorry, ikhwan, my mistake, I am still on original verision, 10a, not 10b....... I still haven't felt the urge to update yet... seems ok to me the stock version..
well the only thing i noticed after the upgrade(minus the starhub startupscreen) is the freeze issues never happen anymore, coz the first week(when im on 10a) i haf a couple of freezes, but now approx a month after i updated the firmware, never had the freeze problem
What is the difference between v10e and v20e..?
Don't get it in my official updates
Using stock Rom
Firmware v10e
And if anyone knows how i can revert back to v10d then please let me know.

One if a froyo based rom and the other is a gingerbread leaked rom.
Biggest difference is in battery life and speed

I think there wasn't any difference at all. I ran V20e for some reason when I got mine and for some crazy idea that I want to test 'if LG really sucks at software' notion I tried to update, I went back to V10e running at 2.2.2
Very bad mistake

i disagrre with u bro..its very difference between 10e and 20e, 10e for froyo n 20e for gingerbread.all system between those versions is very different too
There are a few differences.
1. 10E is official 20E is a leaked rom.
2. 10E is Froyo 20E is Gingerbread.
3. As stated in 1. the only one actually supported by LG is 10E so flashing 20E will remove your warranty.
Of course there are more differences then these but then a normal Gingerbread vs Froyo thread will serve for that purpose.

Yeah I know, what I meant was there was no difference with performance. I mean yeah V10e is froyo and V20e is GB so its really a huge difference on system but on the performance, not so much. Sorry if that made a misconception or something.

No, flashing custom rom on your LG phone doesn't void your warranty. This was stated directly by LG Italy.
Yes i can confirm it me too.
Custom Roms don't touch the warranty.only if you brick or damage your phone installing a custom will be customer fault.
But if you have an hardware problem and you have a custom Rom you're ok.

Okey, I wrote supported by LG first. But okey.. Maybe Italy is different from the rest of the world. And its free to flash and still keep your warranty's intact. But if they by any means find any reason to why your flashing is the fault for breaking the device you will be the one paying the repairs. And normally they do "find" stuff like that. I my self ended up paying the repairs on a laptop because it was linux on it and not vista. (And here you think your free to install whatever OS you want on a pc.)
PS local agreements may vary to make sure contact your local LG office.
Hi,
I have got this LG optimus 2x from Wind, unlocked, and rooted. The thing is that I am still using 2.2, and for the longest time I have been waiting for an update, yet nothing seems to appear. I was looking around and I found this guide:
http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-lg-optimus-2x-to-android-2-3-4-gingerbread.html
To my knowledge it seems pretty legit, but the links are old, and I can no longer get the files I need to perform the upgrade. Do you guys advice me to perform such an upgrade, or should I go for custom ROMs (not a big fan)?
Any help is appreciated, thanks.
Try to search a live link in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041 or google it...
You can flash older version (V10) with smartflash, then use lg update tool to update it to the newest.
You can try this rom, too, it is the newest stock with minor changes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035041 and easily flashable through cwm.

You are on the wrong forum. LG Optimus 2X is LGP990 but the one from Wind is LGP999 (a.k.a. G2X) . Head over to the T Mobile LG G2X Forum
Hi, guys. I have the canadian Lg optimus 2x
tired of the leggy stock 2.3.4 rom. Want to use ICS

For this, ( canada is not supported)?

Also, for this

I have to flash a service pack, but how to flash a service pack?
Thanks guys

According to the above post, the Canadian O2X is called P999 (G2X). Flashing a P990 ROM will likely cause a brick to your device.

That's not necessarily correct... Canadian O2X may very well be P990hn (you can still get it today from Fido), which works just fine with any P990 ROM. P999 is another model for AWS frequencies used by Wind in Canada.

I am not sure what you mean by "not supported"... True, V30 (either A or B) has not been officially released for Canada (or North America, for that matter), but both versions actually work in Canada. V30B (unlike V30A) doesn't have a Canadian English language option, but US English is still there. I am currently running a clean stock V30B, and I am happy with it. However, I would refrain from recommending a particular ROM, as it's mostly a personal choice...

You don't understand? It's really not difficult and if you actually bothered to read some of the existing threads you wouldn't have needed to open this pointless one :banghead:

Guys he just asked question if you dont want to tell him which one is latest dont,
At OP
See for yourself which firmware is latest,
And here is nice tutorial flashing it.
It depends on your carrier or most likely your IMEI and the region, if you plug in your headphones and it shows " volume turned down to protect your ears" then you have the latest.
Update in order?
So, two questions to which I haven't found the answer, though it may be because I haven't figured out the correct search terms. 1) Why, if they're updating things such as battery performance and camera focus issues, do different regions have different firmware versions. Presumably, the phone has the same issues worldwide, so why wouldn't they just update globally? 2) Do you have to apply these updates in order? I received my 4x two days ago and it has version e. Do I need to go f, g, h? or will h cover the previous two? Sorry if the answers are in here, but I haven't found them. Thank you

just keep up with latest firmare of your region. Don't need other region's firmware. Development is different in every region. They don't work together that much. So no chanche of global update. Even with jelly bean, different regions will get it in different time as for example honk kong may get within 1st half, 13 and in that place europe (euro open) may get in first quarter (maybe next month). But we will be always be able to flash other country's firmware.
I generally realize that if a phone says it's up to date, then it's up to date. However, this phone was never meant to be in my region (USA) so do I try and find the region it was intended for and keep up with the updates for that region or just leave it be?
