HBOOT update required for unlock Tattoo. Original hboot not supported this operation.

Yes.... follow the steps and you have an unlock device to
install anything you want.
I follow the procedure (my Tattoo was with the latest Cyanogenmod 7)
and everything went fine.
I recommend to use it for easy unlock the device (instead the old root method).

[TOOL] incsfree S-OFF, SuperCID, SIM-unlock

Hi !
incsfree a tool to gain radio S-OFF, SuperCID and (hopefully) SIM-unlock is available for beta testing.
The documentation of incsfree can be found at incsfree wiki
The tool itself can be found in the attachments of that page or using the direct link incsfree_02.zip
There is currently no HOW-TO guide for the Incredible S but the procedure is very similar to the procedure for the HTC G2/DZ/DHD that can be found at the wiki page of the vision Rooting the Vision (G2/DZ) and DHD. The differences are that you will use incsfree instead of gfree and that you have to use the engineering hboot image and recovery image for the Incredible S. (Please make sure that you use the right versions for the Incredible S)
If you intend to use incsfree i would like to invite you to join the irc channel #G2ROOT on freenode. I will not be available for the next 2 weeks but there are other capable people who will assist you using incsfree (especially pierre_ja and Nipqer are very helpful and capable guys).
You can use incsfree also in case that you already used alpharev or revolutionary to gain "fake" S-OFF by the patched hboot.
Warning The SIM-unlock feature has not been tested at all on an Incredible S. I am rather confident that it will work but if you want to use it, please do that only being assisted by people from #G2ROOT.
incsfree has only been tested on Software number: 1.36.405.1
It might be that it works on higher versions too or that the phone can be downgraded so that you can use it.
incsfree is released under the GPL v2. The source is linked on the incsfree wiki. Please respect the license !

I tried this on My GB updated Inc S. but it fails to reboot emmc, tried downgrading to froyo and got stuck in bootloop, is there anyway to downgrade to 1.36.405.1?
Can someone tell me if this should work in theory? (or if someone has done this) since apparently this S-Off tool only works on the old froyo 1.36.405.1 rom which means most people would have to somehow downgrade from Gingerbread to use it...
My idea-
1. Use Revolutionary to gain soft S-Off
2. Take the 1.36.405.1 PG32IMG, edit the android-text file in it to raise the main version to what my phone is currently running which is: 2.28.666.3. (So when the PG32IMG is flashed through Hboot, it thinks the 1.36.405.1 rom is actually 2.28.666.3) Hboot will allow the modified android-text file since the phone is now S-Off from Revolutionary.
3. Flash modified PG32IMG 1.36.405.1 rom through Hboot
4. Run Incsfree to get radio S-Off.
Anyone think this will work? I want to try it but I am afraid of getting stuck in a bootloop or a brick...

Hi!
Sorry I am on holidays so i can not go into details.
The way it would work is similar to the downgrade of the G2/DZ/DHD/MT4G as described in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912
As you see instead of changing the stock rom zip (which will not work because it would break the signature) we change the main version in the misc partion 17.
I do not know if fre3vo will work to give you temp root on your firmware version but the first thing you will need is a way to temp-root.
If you do use revolutionary before downgrading it does not hurt.
I will be back in about a week and would be happy to assisst you.

Ok hopefully you can help figure this out when you're back. I used the guide in the other thread and downgraded the partition 17 main version on my incs to 1.00.000.0. I then tried to downgrade to the froyo rom but got stuck in a bootloop after it finished. I ran the gingerbread RUU to get the phone to boot again and then tried flashing just the froyo radio via fastboot after changing the main version again but that also got me stuck in a bootloop...

I downloaded the incsfree.zip in the original post but on my windows 7 machine it won't open. Any ideas?, sorry for asking simple questions but I am so lost when it comes to HTC devices. I really just want to get this phone unlocked so I can try it out. I have no idea which provider is on it but it says it is sim locked.
I have no idea what S off is, or how to unlock and root this thing (Incedible S PG32120). Thanks for the help.

You won't run that from the micro-sd but from /data/local/tmp (please see the G2/DZ link in the first posting).
I would suggest that you try to find me on #g2root (see the first posting) so that i can assisst you.

Hi all. My Incredible S is bought and use in Saudi Arabia. Few weeks ago i did OTA upgrade with the below result:
Android version 2.3.5

I am thinking to try out rooting this phone. Would like to do this in Linux as I dont have a windows computer. My laptop runs ubuntu and mint LXDE, they are not the latest releases but i think it does not matter. I'm looking for a complete guide how to root in linux. I found a thread below but the phones are not IS. I am not sure if they are applicable.

First since you now have HBOOT 2.00.0000 your only option currently is to begin by unlocking the bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com.
Next you would flash a custom recovery so that you can install the latest SU-3.0.x.zip.
I suggest you do some more research and reading about these 3 steps before attempting it.

Goldcard will only let you use an RUU from a different carrier. To downgrade you need to change the main version which can only be achieved with root access.

Best tool and procedure to root my HTC Incredible S

Am vry eager to install ICS for my mobile. Please suggest me a tool to s-off and root my HTC incredible S. I tried with revolutionary tool and it shows rooting is not supported in my device. Mine is 2.3.5 hboot 2.000.
Please suggest me the ones that you guys have tries and succeeded.

Yes, you need to do some research. One option you will have is to use the procedure that is documented in the HBOOT 1.16/2.00 Downgrade Tool thread to be able gain true S-OFF. The other option is to use the Unlock bootloader procedure at HTCDEV.com. In both cases you will need to get familiar with the Android SDK tools adb.exe and fastboot.exe, so I suggest you do some more research.
Let me share from the GURU of Android on XDA Senior Member, YOU DONT NEED TO DOWNGRADE TO HBOOT 1.13 to Install Costum Rom. And I've follow that instruction how to do that I have made for my Inc S hboot 1.16 S-On.
Yes,first thing you should go htcdev to unlock bootloader and flash with CWM or 4EXT witch one. And you can install any costum rom from the bigger chief. Before do that after flash e.g Clockwork, you should Nandroid Backup. Pls consider to Backup your htc orig.rom and then you wipe, factory reset.and install costum rom om your SDcard....

I tried unlocking the bootloader from htcdev. I followed the instructions and did everything that was supposed to. I got the success message as well.
I just started the mobile. It shows "Unlocked" in rose color on the top. Same time it shows S - ON on the next line.

With the bootloader in an UNLOCKED state, you can now install ClockworkMod recovery (CWM) and once you have CWM installed you can flash custom ROMs. Check the sticky posts in this forum for the steps you need to follow.

Good day to all!
Sorry for this question, I know it is asked and discussed a lot.. BUT!
I have searched and searched over google and XDA and can't find it no where.
All the links are out-dated and on some forums they write that HTC Runnymede is the official stock rom and on others they say HTC pyramide is the stock rom.
So I am very confused now and besides being confused, I can't find any working link for downloading the HTC Sensation XL stock Europe rom.
I need to unroot my device so I really need the rom fast.
I already 'relocked bootloader', only need the RUU.exe to unroot and install stock rom.
Please help me out.

hi , at first , you need to know that Runnymede is the name of stock rom for Htc sensation XL ,and pyramid is the name of Htc sensation ( the first one ).
then if you need to unroot your phone you can follow the steps on HTCdev.com the give you the steps to unroot .
after that ,all the runnymede.exe doesn't work ,i don't know why ,but some says that because the compatibility or the boatloader is locked, anyway, there is a methode to extract rom from Ruu if you want to install the official rom but i dont taste it , or install the official rom flashable on the section developer ,i use one of the and am really satisfied ,it look like the official rom .
i hope it will help u

Thanks for the information about which rom is for what phone
BTW. I managed to download the RUU.exe I needed, link provided above in my post. (download time over 1 hour.....)
I locked my bootloader by using 'fastboot oem lock' in cmd in windows while connected phone in fastboot USB
Then I re-started my phone and bootloader was 'relocked'. Then I started up my phone and turned on debug in development (options in android) turned of fastboot in options somewhere in android, I think under power.
Then just run the RUU.exe and it just installed stock rom, so it unrooted the phone. REMEMBER you can't install stock rom on unlocked bootloader, need to relock it.
But after that I just unlocked the bootloader again and rooted my phone and installed CWM recovery and installed ICE COLD ZOMBIE. But draw something app in android did not start. crashed and phone was a bit laggy. I had backed up my android with CWM before installing ICE COLD ZOMBIE, so I just restored that and everything was fast again.
Hello all, I'm new here but have a moderate understanding of all your delights
I recently unlocked the bootloader on my SXL, then instaled a custom ROM.
I have searched on our SXL forum and have found a few links to the RUU for Europe but non of these links work for me.
When the official HTC ICS update is released I would like to be able to install this so therefore will need the original RUU. Im in the UK and my operator is O2.
Please could one of you kind fella's provide me a link to a download for this.
Thanks.

No the Ruu's do not work on ALL devices as far as I know.
You need your region's rom.
Mine was EU, and besides that, you also need to relock your boot loader first until you can install stock rom's
But the good part here is, if you lock your boot loader - > run RUU.exe (any) and if your phone thinks it's a good RUU.exe it will start flashing, but if your device does not match the RUU.exe it will say you have the wrong RUU.exe for your device.
That's at least what I have read

But the good part here is, if you lock your boot loader - > run RUU.exe (any) and if your phone thinks it's a good RUU.exe it will start flashing, but if your device does not match the RUU.exe it will say you have the wrong RUU.exe for your device.
That's at least what I have read

I think it might be the version, so R2 is the latest version? Well someone here suggested R2 so that one might be good. I used the R2

Unlock HBOOT from HTC Office!

Hi All...
Good news...
HTC Team really heard us! HTC Officially release tool to Unlock HBOOT for our Wildfire (for other HTC to). just visit:
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
1.For rooting, first you must flash recovery clockwork
put the recovery image file (recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-buzz.img) at C:\fastboot\
2.Connect your phone at fastboot bootloader, Run command prompt and type:
"\fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.7-buzz.img"
3.Now flash "super user". enter the clockwork recovery and install from zip file, then select
"Superuser-3.0.6-efgh-signed.zip" you can get from:
4.you are rooted!
i try, and success! :good:
go root!
mm , I dont think this is something new ?
Moreover,I found revolutionary method way more easier and faster, if you read well and can follow simple instructions nothing will go wrong !
Its not new and also it doesnt unlock it completely. You will still have s-on after that.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA
Yes, it is not new.
and i'm also already try the revolutionary method. with my HBOOT 1.01.0002 i must downgrade first using goldcard, then S-OFF with revolutionary alpharevx, then downgrade official RUU android 2.1. after that i root it using unrevoked.
tired to try very nice costume ROM, i just want back to official HTC ROM, but i need it rooted (so i will able to over clock it).
for revolutionary method, i actually not have official froyo rooted, but official eclair rooted (or costume froyo rooted).
so... for me or who that maybe really love the original HTC Sense but need more faster wildfire, i use above method.
but be care full, once you unlock the device using HTC method, you will not able to restore to original RUU directly.
(but we always have a way to back to "home") :fingers-crossed:
