Wont Power On - Motorola Droid Bionic

I am looking at trading for a Bionic, however it has a problem. The guy I might trade says it wont turn on for him. If he plugs it into USB it will get a white LED, cant remember if he said it blinks or not.
I am quite familiar with modding phones as I have a Fascinate running 4.0. As such I have a lot of software. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks.

Anyone have any ideas.

Yeah its Superbricked(battery dead, AND Stuck on "Fastboot Flash Failure" or some other "Failure". All you need is a new battery and Follow These Steps to get to stock. There is another way to charge a battery.
1. Get a spare USB Cord.
2. Cut and strip the end down(the end you stick in the phone)
3. Strip it. Give it at least 2 inches.
4. There are 4 wires. Black, Red, Green and White. Ignore the Green and White and strip the plastic off the Red & Black until its just the wires.
5. On the back of the battery there is a "+" and a " - ". Black is negative. Red is positive.
6. Connect wires accordingly. Use the OUTSIDE slots not the middle.
7. connect USB Cord to computer or wall charger and let it charge.
I HAVE DONE THIS TO CHARGE MY BATTERY IT WORKS. I did fold the wires a little to make it stick(more like jam it in here) and used a fingernail to push it to those two sides in each slot(you'll see what I'm talking about when you look at the battery).
YouTube link.
PS: Don't leave it on there for an extened amount of time(the longest I had mine on was about an hour because you will need some juice to flash to a stock rom).

So my situation is a bit different. I have a Bionic completely stock, just performed a factory reset via the menu options on the phone. It was on and working with the set up screen. It was not active and therefore couldn't go past the setup screen.
Now, my 6 yr old nephew took the phone. Had it for a couple of days, took it to school but not important, when i got the phone back it would not turn on. I figured it was a dead battery. So i plugged it in an left it for a few hours while i was at work. When i got home, it would not turn on. When i plug the phone into a charger that I verified per another phone works nothing happens. When I take the battery out of the phone and plug into my computer the led light comes on and is solid. But phone will still not come on, i even try to hold down both volume buttons and the power button at the same time.
So is my device bricked as well? And how could this have happened? Do i have to purchase a brand new battery or can I use the charging trick on my current battery?
Thank you for the help in advance!

battery broke my flash procedure??

Hello folks, this is my verry verry first post so sorry if its not conform the rules
a few weeks ago my phone fell on the floor, and the battery acts weird.
It shuts off after i call 3 minutes claiming the battery to be epty, but when i remove the battery and put it back in again, it shows as full.
two days ago i messed up my phone and i thought well i flash it back
(note: i flashed my madonna before and it always went well)
But now, it flashes all the way to 80% or sometimes even 99% and then it shuts off, starting to blink the tricoloured bootscreen on and off.
when i put in the AC charger it stops blinking showing the tricolour screen steady.
ive been searching for ways to flash the phone from SD-Card so i can kepe the AC-Charger connected, but all i can find on the net is a way to backup the old rom to SD-Card and reflash it from that?
But.. i cant access the old rom anymore?
its from the wizard wiki page
I'm seriously thinking i have a rather expensive paper press, please tell me there's ways to fix it using SD-Card?
i cant order a new battery untill 3 weeks from now, which i really cant survive without my companion hehehe
just turn your phone on and flash it with rom again
The problem is your battery doesn't have enough charge and might be going bad. It will charge on the wall charger even though the tricolor screen is showing, but I believe it charges slowly. Try letting it charge overnight.
I had a similar problem and now my phone is fine.
You can order a new battery for under $10 from ebay.

same problem
I have the same problem. Loaded the battery for a whole night, but still it stops at 80% or so....
My battery had huge powerdrain, especcially using bluetooth, before flashing.
I orderded a new one, still waiting. I'll let know if it soves the problem.
If there are any onther experiences i'll be happy to read.
well, so far no luck.
sopme say, the printplate broke, (the greenish thingy with all the odd meganics on them?)
other say there's a transistor mallfunctioning, and some others even dare say its nokia's fault (dont ask me why!) for now, i simply believe im stuck with a rather expensive paperweight
even tho i tried charging it for 3 days nonstop, put the battery in the fridge, nothing worked, i guess ill mail T-Mobile seeing as how im due to prolong my contract, amybe they can do me a favor instead of making me wait a few more months
how to reecharge battery
1. get a hold of a USB cable for the computer(one that you dont usually use)
2. (not connected to the computer) you would need to cut off the end that plugs in you phone and then you will see 4 different wires. you will only be using the red and black wire so just strip those two.
3. take the battery off the phone, plug you phone to the wall charger w/out the battery, and connect the USB wire to you computer(make sure the red and black wires are not touching)
4. touch the red and black wires to the positive and negative end of the battery(the battery has labels of which one is the positive and negative part)
5. hold it there for 10 secs then quickly transfer the battery into the phone. after 3 secs of being in the phone, it should start right up.
this steps also depends on how long your battery has been dead. the maximum time you would do this is 3 times. after that and still not working, thats a confirmation of your battery being a done.

[Q] Stock Nook: Battery too low to power ON.

Ok so this nook was bought brand new in December 2010 For my mother In-law. She hasn't used it much. So I asked if I could put Android on it? She said sure cause she hasn't used it at all. As a matter of fact the NC was totally dead when she gave it to me. So I get back to my house and put it on the stock charger. I let it charge for 2 hours. I picked it up and turn it on and all I see is this message: Battery too low to power ON. I did a search and turned up similar problems but the nc where all rooted. I'm wondering if other people have had this same problem? And what they did to solve this as it is more then likely an easy fix. A. Take it back to the store and exchange it. Or. B. Send it off for repairs. C. Someone On XDA has the answer.
Also I've done some trouble shooting like trying to reset it. Also I've used 3 Other chargers and its still not charging or turning on.
Edit: It turns on it just stays at the screen with a red battery displaying the message in the title. Also after charging for a while the screen kind of lites up like its going to turn on but only goes black after that and then comes back to the same red battery screen.

what are you charging from? are you using the stock nook cable and plug?
Yes. And charging it from the wall outlet. Did that with the stock charger. my charger from my HD2 and also tried with the charger from my vibrant. All have the same affect. It has the red battery and the messege below and it also has been a total of 6 hours of charging 2 hours each with the all the chargers.
That stinks. You may have to contact B&N for it. If your using the stock and other chargers then it must be a battery failure.

Yeah seems to me thats what it must be I'll post back what I find out.
When that message is displayed, try holding the power button for 30+ seconds and then turning it back on.
That has worked for me the couple of times it seemed stuck on that screen.

If you're using other chargers, it's possible that you've damages the usb port. The NC uses a non standard usb port, which has two stages. The first stage is standard 5 pin uusb communication, the second stage is non-standard 12 pin charging...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Non-Standard chargers...
As far as I can tell it works fine with any microusb cord.
Their charger cables break...(bend and break) very easy. I have gone through 2.
The upside is that their charger provides power far faster than the normal microusb cords.
At this point...I'm charging mine almost exclusively from my stock evo cord.
If you don't turn off the screen when charging...it may not have enough power coming in to actually build a charge without their cable.

I never used another charger besides the stock charger that came with the NC. Up until this happened all that was ever used was the stock cable for charging. I only used another charging cable once I ran into these problems cause I figured the cable was damaged. Its happened to me before with other devices. But the same results happen with every cord I use. When I plug it in it lights up and shows the red battery screen. So that tells me that the cord or USB port couldn't be the problem. Cause its clearly getting power its just not charging.

No. They sell it without one...the 8GB internal storage is enough for looooottts of books. The microsd was just a nice + for people with lots and lots of music.
I had this issue as well, but I found a fix!
No matter what I did or how long I let it charge, it would always have that red low battery icon.
What I ended up doing to fix it was opening up the back of the unit and disconnecting the battery cable from the unit. I then plugged it directly into the wall without the battery connected to see if it would boot, though I don't know if that was necessary, I don't even remember if it booted that way or not.. I think it did not.
Anyway I unplugged the power cable again, reconnected the battery, then plugged in the power cable and tried to boot and it booted up perfectly after that. The battery icon indicated 13% charge, but it quickly charged back up just fine.
FYI I left the unit in the car overnight right before this happened, and it was pretty chilly that night, 10-20 degreed Fahrenheit. I suspect that caused the issue for some reason, so I've been sure not to do so since.
P.S. I had to do a fair amount of googling around before I found good instructions on taking apart the NC. I think I had to take off the 2 screws under the SD card slot and use a butter knife to just pry the back off. It's just held in with clips and you can't tell it was opened except for the little stickers over the screw holes.

Thanks for the feed back. I'm wondering by un-pluging the battery from the nook if it resets it. Kind of like if a phone freezes or if your computer freezes and you pull the battery. Seems like a plan. Not sure if this is what I'll do as I'm sure its still under warranty. If it comes back and its not covered or B & N wont replace it I guess thats my only hope.
im having the same problem as well it was off for a while and now its at the red batter screen. i guess ill try and take it apart?

So I got it fixed right. All it was was a faulty cable lol!

I had this problem too, but I'm not sure "faulty" is the right word for the cable.
My friend borrowed my nook and returned it with a dead battery (Thanks asshole). So I plugged it into my computer at work and just got the always-on low battery message. After 45 minutes I took it to my car so I wouldn't forget it. I plugged it into my USB charger in the car using a different cable. Two hours later, same state.
When I got home I pugged it into the Nook wall charger with yet another cable (not the nook's original) and got the same thing. I searched here to see if I could figure out what was going on and decided to try the original cable with the wall plug. literally two seconds after plugging it in it started booting into Froyo.
I'm sure I didn't have four "faulty" cables. I think those that are saying you should be using the original are correct. The others worked fine when the battery wasn't empty, but mine only responded to the original once it got to the point of the unending low-battery message.
Original charger / cable required with totally empty battery
Same here. With battery completely empty and non standard cable, stuck at red battery sign forever. With orginal cable, boots fine and charges.
solution I found
Have CM7 installed on SDCard, got the battery icon, even with the unit plugged into the charger with oem equipment. Held the power button 'til the unit turned off completely, removed the sdcard, rebooted. Nook booted into stock fine, turned off, re-inserted sdcard and rebooted. All is well.

Your battery is too low to flash, but you can't charge because it can't get to the screen. Trust me, was there two nights ago.
Check that thread, find an old USB cable (I used a USB to USB A mini, worked fine). Took a couple times to strip it, lost about 4 inches in it because of it. Worked like a charm. The issue you'll find is you'll need to strip about 1/4 of an inch of cable (exposed wire). from there, you'll need some tape. Take it and follow (red to +, black ground to -). You'll fail about 6-7 times where one wire slips out. Then from there, jam that sucker into the back and try to get it so it'll rest right under the camera area. That should be enough force for them to connect and then you can get into fastboot since you'll have +5V direct flow.

Not sure about the bionic...but when i fked up my DroidX like this, it would charge when i left it off and plugged in. Don't even turn it on, leave it off and plug it in and wait a min to see what it does (my X came up with a battery screen). I left it for a lil bit to charge, then ran an sbf through it.
My understanding is you can apply more than the max the phone was designed for, 5V at 850mA, to the USB connection. I am just a little weary of what I apply directly to phone innards. There isn't really documentation on what the circuit can handle.
I have a connection I could use that pushes a bit more current.
What is the maximum current you can apply directly to the phone's battery connection terminals? Will 4.5V at 1.5A be okay? Do I have to find an old USB wire and run the standard old 5.1V at 500mA from my computer?
/*Edit: If the 1.5A is too much, and I ran that in series with the battery, (IE, stuffed the wires into the battery terminals, and jammed it into the phone) would that be okay? */

[Q] Bought a Touchpad off ebay - is it bricked?

Hey helpful XDA'rs,
After somehow avoiding to have a tablet for this many years, I decided to get a 2ndhand Touchpad after seeing all the reviews, ROM support, price to relative specs, etc... so I bought a second hand 32GB tablet off of ebay. In fact, this one right here... http://www.ebay.com/itm/271192613408?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Anyways, I got it earlier today, and plugged it into the wall charger it came with (the circular OEM HP one, with the long cable with a silver circle on each end). When I plugged it in, the little white alternating light under the home button switched on, so I figured it was working. Had it plugged in for about a half hour before I decided I couldn't contain my excitement and wanted to power it up. Of course nothing happened. Just a black screen and that little white alternating light mocking me.
I immediately hit up the google machine and XDA and realized that the screen was supposed to be on with an actual charging icon/animation or something like that. Up to this point, I still have not seen any sort of anything appear on screen. Just that little white light. Now yes, I've read through the posts.
First I checked to see if the HP charger/cable would charge my GS2. It did, and quickly (not some sissy trickle charge) and the circular HP thing felt warm to the touch. I also unscrewed the cylinder HP charger and blew in there with my breath pretty hard to clear out any possible dust, then screwed it back on tightly. I have used different cables with the HP charger, and used the HP cable with my GS2 charger. Same results, just that mocking little light, and the HP cylinder did not feel warm to the touch.
I have done pretty much all the button combinations I could find for at least a minute, with no results. Power + home, power + rapid firing the home button, power + volume up + home, power + both volume + home, etc. This is with the charger plugged into the wall.
I did notice two changes though.
#1 When I hold power + home, after maybe 12 seconds, the light stops alternating and is off - for about 2 seconds. Then the alternating starts back up. When the alternating light stops when I do this, it is always for the same amount of time, about 2 seconds, then it starts up again, regardless of if I continue holding the power + home, or if I immediately let go of the buttons, or immediately let go and then try pushing other buttons; it is always the same, the flashing stops after about 12 seconds, pauses with no lights at all for about 2 seconds, and then starts back up again.
#2 When I hold power + home + volume up, after about 12 seconds, the white alternating stops completely and never comes back if I don't do anything else. There are only 3 ways that I have found so far that will get the alternating white light back. First, just simply unplug and replug in, the light immediately comes back. 2nd and 3rd ways are to do the previous two button combos again, (power/home or power/volup/home for about 12 seconds).
MOVING FORWARD, here's where some interesting things happened, which hopefully is enough to have someone knowledgeable know what might be going on.
I decided to try #1 and #2 again, but this time, instead of the wall charger, I plugged the USB cable into one of my computer USB ports. My computer didn't make a device connect sound, nor show any kind of drive being connected in my computer. Just the same alternating white light.
Trying method #1 above, did the same thing. Power/home, alternating light would turn off for 2 seconds then start back up. Still no sounds from computer.
Trying method #2, finally something! When I held power/home/volup, after about 12 seconds the alternating light would turn off for good as expected, but then my computer made a noise! Not the device connected sound (low note to high note sound), not even the device disconnected sound (high note to low note), but that 3rd "device failed to connect" sound, the (three low tone sound). If you go to your windows sounds you'll know which sound I'm talking about. Anyways, I was glad to hear that the computer realized something was there. Although it was just a sound. Nothing in my computer, but for a second I did see a pop-up bubble in my lower right hand notifications say "device did not install correctly" or something like that. Now, with the touchpad still plugged into USB, and the alternating light off, if I either remove the cable (or hold power/home or power/home/volup for 12 seconds so the alternating light goes back on) then my computer makes that "device disconnected" sound. The hell is going on? I can duplicate those two sounds (the device failed to connect sound, and the device disconnected sound) over and over by holding power/home/volup for 12 seconds, and then unplugging and replugging the USB.
Having said all this, anyone have any ideas? Again, up until this point, I have yet to see anything appear on screen. Just that damn white alternating light.
I also know that this might also be a case of the really dead battery. It may just need to charge for like 48 hours via HP wall charger, or it may need to trickle charge for like 48 hours via USB to computer. If that's what it takes, but jesus I'm impatient and don't want to wait a week or longer, especially if I have a small window of opportunity to return this via ebay. So for tonight, I'm going to trickle charge via USB, but with the alternating light OFF via method #2, because at least with #2 and the light off, my computer makes a sound confirming something is plugged in. My rationale is that if it thinks something is plugged in, it will charge it.
Thoughts guys? A million thanks to anyone who actually read this entire essay and is still willing to help out!
Edit: the USB trickle charge I am attempting overnight tonight is via my GS2 cable, NOT the HP cable, since I've read all over the place that the HP cable is of poor quality.
Sometimes, when the battery has been completely depleted, it takes a real long while (24+ hours).
Your cable and charger seem to be Ok, so just plug it into the wall and check on it it tomorrow.
Post again if you keep having problems and we should be able to help you.
Good luck.
Not sure it will help but but holding power, home and volume down button is reboot ,I've had to hold it for 15 to 17 seconds before....

When i got my touchpad it was deeply discharged. I had to let it charge for several hours before it did anything at all. However i used the weak Samsung charger, so there was at least that message "please use the original charger" on the screen. So maybe you just need to wait...
Good luck though
Cheers
Chris
To my joy, I woke up today with the screen on displaying a low battery charging icon. It's in the red though, but that's definitely progress. Is there a charging animation, or is it just a still icon? Mine has no animation and wanted to make sure mine didn't freeze.
I wanna say there is no animation just the icon (its been a long time since I've seen it ) but it only needs around 10% to boot... Now that you see the icon try holding the power and home button for 15sec and see if it boots.

I went and grabbed some food and upon returning I saw that my TP had completely turned itself on and was on some sort of setup screen, asking for me to select a language. I'm running through the setup now - two things. First, is it necessary to create a webOS account? Kinda like creating a google account for android? I intend on installing cyanogen10 on this, but wasn't sure if a weOS account was necessary. Or perhaps it's helpful. Second, the touch response is HORRIBLE right now doing the setup, takes multiple attempts to push an area, and with much more pressure than I would think is necessary. I'm assuming this is to low battery,. and it will improve as the battery returns to normal levels?
Not sure about the touch response issue but the low battery could be a possibility , as for the webos account i believe you only need to do that in order to use webos , i would do it anyways though .
Check here if you don't feel like making a webos acct: http://forums.webosnation.com/android-webos/318426-how-install-android-without-setting-up-webos.html

Yeah it was low battery. After a little more charging the touch response works fine now. Thanks! I was really stressing that I received a dead TP.
There are several programs available in the play store that will turn your tablet off when the battery % reaches a certain level. I use Automatelt (thanks to sstar for the tip) set at 20 %.

Is 20% the general consensus around XDA where it shouldn't go any lower than? Are some people setting it higher? Lower?
I have mine at 9% . some prefer more battery left to feel safer i suppose , basically you don't want to let your tp battery drain completely because it might possibly brick

Xperia T - stock, not rooted potentially reversed USB connection, now won't switch on

Hi
I’m wondering if anybody has any advice regarding my problem. I have looked here and tried what has been suggested.
My stock, never rooted, never flashed, Xperia T (think it was Android 4.3 but can’t now check, the latest Sony rolled out) was working fine until yesterday. I was on a plane and noticed it had 20% battery life left so I plugged it into the onboard USB port. The problem is I think I hay have plugged the cable into the port the work way round – not the connection on the phone, but the actual USB socket. This should be impossible but somebody obviously had broken the port and it turned out the cable could be plugged in both ways! (I don’t know if it was plugged in the wrong way round but is the only thing that could possible explain the sudden death.)
Could this have bricked it? I suddenly couldn’t get a red light to show charging and holding down power on and volume up or down does nothing. I tried charging overnight via a wall socket when I got home but the result is still the same. Just a black screen and no sign of life. I have also tried plugging it into a computer with Sony’s PC Companion but as the phone is not ‘on’, it can’t be found.
Does anybody have any advice where to go from here? I’m more concerned about some recent data from holiday on the phone than the actual handset itself. If the phone is dead, is there any way to read the internal memory?
Thanks
Try this: Unplug the charger, press the power button. The phone won’t power up because there is no charge left in the battery. But press the power button along and while doing so, connect the charger without releasing the button. Now, you will probably see the red light. Please don’t take off your finger from the power button for around 1 to 2 minutes when the red light for charging will glow continuously. If you feel tired holding it, you can try sticking a tape on it in it’s pressed mode. Once you are sure that the phone is now charging the battery again(red light keeps glowing even after the power button is released) kindly wait for 5 to 10 minutes or may be more before you press the power button again to power the phone up. Now the phone will be up and running
If that doesnt work maybe ur battery is dead or usb port broken
Thanks for the advice. I gave that a go after trying a 24h wall charge and not touching it (which did nothing).
So, I held the power down, plugged it in but nothing. I held it down for around 5 minutes both manually and then repeated the process using the rubber band trick to keep the button held down but no red light ever came on. I think I’m going to try a new battery as I genuinely see that I have nothing to lose as I doubt it will be possible for anybody to recovery data given as the phone can’t be switched on so if I break it further I’m in no worse position!
Thanks again for trying to help though!:good:
When I got my xperia t it was in described condition. I also tried everything (rubberband trick and so on) but the only thing working was to open it and pull and put in again the plug of the battery. After that it booted immediately and I got this sleep-of-death-thing nearly every day... Since I soldered the battery as described in this Topic it happens only ~once a week. Good luck!
SOLVED! In preparation for the new battery arriving, I decided to take the back cover off. I unhooked the top battery connector and decided to connect it back up again, just to see if it did anything. Plugged in the charger and a red light came on straight away! I let it charge for a good couple of hours and switched it on – not as easy without the case attached – and it worked. I’m so frustrated with it being such a simple issue as needing to disconnect the battery but even more frustrated with the design that it is meant to be a ‘sealed’ unit with a non-removable battery. I used to often need to disconnect my old Omnia II battery to restart it but that was a simple case of cover off, remove battery, replace battery , put cover back on, not the creaky, back cover fear of cracking exercise of yesterday. Still it’s working now and hopefully life in the old phone yet!
