Hi, Dr Khetan,
I did a flash on my note using the leak ics 4.0.3 from China posted on samsung android development forum.
All was ok except when making a call , I cant hear or the other party hears hissing sound only. SMS can receive but cant send out.
I tried flashing back stock rom ver 2.3.5 and tried 2.3.6 Singapore version from samfirmware.com. but was prompt like "google framework did not launch".
Did flash several time but fail again.
How can i wipe clear all data from Odin (home+D-Vol+power) or there is other way.
Did you first do a backup of your stock rom by CWM Recovery? before flashing, try to go into CWM and clear cache, wipe data and also clear dalvik cache and do the flashing again, from what i know there are two leaked versions of ICS for i9220 and n7000 which are different, which one did you flash?

[LEAKed ROM] ***Android 4.0 Leak for N7000*** XXLP1
After the last ICS leak yesterday came out for the Samsung I9220 Galaxy Note,
we now come with the first ICS leak for the Galaxy Note N7000.
The Galaxy Note N7000 is more popular than the I9220.
This is of course because the I9220 is actually only for the Chinese market.
Luckily we got our hands on the first ICS ROM for the Galaxy Note N7000.
This ROM is based on Android 4.0.3 firmware number as N7000XXLP1
We expect this ROM will still have many bugs.
Especially since this is the first leak.
BEcause this is a CUSTOM rom your CUSTOM binary will walk.
Below are all our screenshots plus a little video of the rom …
If you want to talk about this firmware you can do so through our forums.
Downloading is also ony via our forum topic.
On our FW page you only can find OFFICIAL firmwares by Samsung.
This rom is a early CUSTOM rom by Samsung based on Android 4.0.3.
Samsung did the same by the Galaxy S II. (I9100XXLP1 – I9100XXLP2 both CUSTOM by Samsung.)
Yes , I did a a backup using CWM but how do i restore back as I am now unable to go back to stock rom. The flashing of stock rom is successful. Its the first boot when you are prompt to touch the android logo, that's where it prompt
"Sorry! the application Google Services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Go to recovery(vol up + Home + Power) Clear cache, clear delvic cache, wipe data
if still not works
Reflash with PC Odin
Did you flash googleapps without a reboot?
Supposedly you should reboot your device after flashing a rom, then you enter CWM afterward to flash the zip file pack of googleapps.
Dr Khetan,
Thousand thank you for your quick reply. I was just about to go and get another Galaxy Note when I saw your answer and tried it out.
Sorry for i am a noob. thanks again to others who tried to help.

Apologies, but since I am a new user, I was not allowed to post in the thread in developer section.
I had bought a pre owned phone, on Rocket ROM (GB based), however as S-Pen apps were not working I decided to go on the stock ICS rooted way.
I followed the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I had downloaded the stock INdian ROM

I followed the steps, downloaded Odin, and put the TAR file in PDA section, and flashed. All goes fine without error, on the phone it says everything is installed successfully. However after the process the phone just keeps restarting after the Samsung logo.
Have I done anything wrong here? How do I rectify the mistake and get my phone working
Did you clear cache/dalvik or do a wipe in recovery menu ? Looks like it's stuck because of leftover data from previous rom

Umm, pardon my ignorance as I am migrating from an ancient Nokia device.
No, I had done no such thing, no backups too as I just had it for a few days and no data so to speak of.
Should I be doing a wipe in recovery menu? And doesn't flashing the device, formats the memory too?
I think it should, but for some reasons it does not. To get rid of boot loop, go into recovery and clear cache. Should boot properly then
Also, avoid doing a factory reset on stock ics. If clearing cache wont help, i'd suggest flashing gb stock rom, doing a wipe and then upgrading to ics as wiping under ics has caused people a lot of troubles.
Yes you should do a wipe of cache memory and dalvik cache. That is availible from recovery menu. And no they arent allways formatted when flashing a new rom.
To go into recovery, do this.
Device off > vol-up+home+power. And now you are in recovery mode.
Also, avoid doing a factory reset on stock ics. If clearing cache wont help, i'd suggest flashing gb stock rom, doing a wipe and then upgrading to ics as wiping under ics has caused people a lot of troubles.

Thanks, I had read up how much ever I could, and am pretty wary of the emmc bug. Thats the reason I am flashing to a GB based stock rom, and then the ICS stock rom.
The error I got earlier is by flashing to a Indian GB Stock ROM, should I yet clear cache memory in the recovery mode?
A little bit of googling tells me I should be flashing to a ROM with multiple files (different ones for PDA, Modem, CSC etc) hence I am also downloading the stock Europe based ROM. Now the query is would the stock Europe GB ROM, cause any issues to a Note bought in India?
Edit: I wiped the cache partition in recovery mode, but the bootloop persists. I will try flashing to the Europe GB ROM and update.
Thanks, folks was able to install the Europe stock GB ROM, which I later flashed to an Indian stock ICS ROM. I have rooted the phone by a very helpful guide by Dr Ketan, however I miss some of the functions available to me on the rocket GB based ROM. Especially an option to have a data on/off option in quick notifications.
What is the purpose of rooting the stock ROM? Can I delete the bloatware that comes pre-installed on the stock ROM, once the phone is rooted? If yes how?
Any safe custom ICS ROM's you guys recommend? If I am right the correct way right now seems to be to flash a safe GB based ROM everytime before you flash an ICS ROM? Correct?
Last but not the least, thanks to the folks who replied and guided me in the thread, XDA is a very resourceful place, if you search it thoroughly.
About notification toggles - they are available in some roms, in others - not.
As far as rooting is concerned - yes, you can delete almost all the bloatware. There is a thread with APKs that are safe to remove - check it out and feel free to delete everything you won't be using. How ? Simple file explorer with root capabilities will do. Here's the list, thanks to pulser_g2:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...1gdDJRekl4QmkyNmIzUmRvX2h3UDVkQXc&output=html
Safe custom ICS ROMs - I'd say go for CM9. For me, AOSP is the only way to go with Android. If you want TouchWiz based roms, however, can't really help cause i've never used them - there are plenty in development section though.
Nope, you don't need to flash GB ROM everytime. The problem with wipe affects only stock ICS roms ( so with stock-kernel based roms from Samsung, yeah, that's recommended ). But if you're going to flash/change/update roms like CM9, Criskelo etc. there is no need to go back to GB everytime.
Hi i was on ICS stunner and flash via PC Odin Stock GB rom.
everything goes ok but now i'm stuck on Samsung logo (bootloop)
i have to do cache/dalvik wip but i have only stock recovery.
Is there any way to do that on stock recovery or i have to flash a CWM instead ?

Download abyss from the following site:
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/...rnel/AbyssNotekernel42CWTouchOriginalLogo.tar
Flash the file with PC odin then reboot into abyss recovery. You can then do the wipe.
If you need more information, go to this website:

Hi, I'm stuck with installing new rom, so I hope, that you'll help me.
There are steps what I've done:
- followed THIS topic and ROOT the device with ODIN and CF-Root 4.4 file.
- OKAY, I'm rooted, so let's flash the new ROM
- entered in Clockworkmod Recovery and format EVERYTHING ( /data, /system, /cache, /sdcard etc.... just everything) for clear system
- next I load package with ROM and than INSTALLL
and here is the most important part
- when installed ROM gets something like bootloop but with restart - ROM is loading and after about 40 sec its RESTART
- and the same thing over and over again - restart ->loading->restart.... System never start up correctly to the end
- then when I saw that it does not work, I tried go into the CWM, but there was no CWM (!!!) - it was erased (by installing new ROM maybe???)
- so I must flash (old and stock) ROM via ODIN and again root device with CF-Root (with CWM) - that was only functional rom, what I was able to run, and again did this procedure
I tried this way, perhaps with millions of different ROM and EVERY was stucked (restart) while loading.
I think there are some non-deleted files in device, which should be erased (and which cannot be erased by CWM) for clear start of new installed ROM, what do you think?
Would someone please help me? I don't want old Gingerbread with Kies
Thanks for every responce!
Does it say in the thread that you have to flash a custom kernel?? Give.me the link for the thread so I can make sure that you've done everything right

I think, when I've root and CWM, there is no problem and install a new rom will be very least, so not as it seems
Dude this is a kernel not a rom what's the matter with you??:what:
Sent from ma 5assak
please read all my topic - i flash this kernel only for clockworkmod recovery
through CWM I can flash any other rom
through ODIN only stock - cant find any ICS or JB rom which I can flash via ODIN (.tar file)
What variant of i9000 do you have? Are you sure that the rom you are trying to flash is made exactly for your variant?
EDIT: Try Darky ROM, they have an ODIN flashable version called "Resurrection Edition" or something.
I mean give me the link for the Rom you are using not kernel

Samsung Galaxy S I9000, i'm sure 100%. NOT I9001, NOT Samsung Galaxy S2. Tried many roms from Development section for I9000, tried from get.cm etc... always the same result bootloop with restart

I9000 only, checked it several times
Ok so you can flash Darky Rom Resurrection Edition through ODIN with no problem. Its GingerBread if i remember correctly, but it should give you a recovery mode and fully operating phone. From this point you can flash whatever you want.
....And there is one more important thing:
When I have a stock kernel and stock rom from Samsung, cant get into recovery mode - VOLUME UP and POWER non functional. Only when I type: "adb reboot recovery" in terminal.
Just after when I flash a new pre-rooted kernel with CWM, VOLUPE UP and POWER is now functional
k4Z3666: OK, I try and give you an echo I think, when I format everything in CWM, there will be no sign of the earlier system and ALL WILL BE CLEAR

ok, flashing ICS, may need to be done twice, as first flash may bootloop, IF you want to return to stock to get out of this mess, since you are not sure as to where you are now, due to flashing many roms, use any kit from My Android Collections, link below to get you to a booting ROM, than add a kernel with CWM (use EZbaze package with kernels)
that's helped me too thank you

hey guys, just found this guide to update to jb
Code:
Update Galaxy Note N7000 to official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXLSA leak
As you know the official Android 4.1.2 OTA Update for the Galaxy Note has been leaked, but apparently the release date for the same will take place only in 2013, or if we are lucky enough, maybe somewhere during next month. Now, if you don’t want to wait that long and if you want to test the Android 4.1.2 flavor on your own Samsung Galaxy Note N700, this step by step guide is all you need. During the next few lines I will be showing you how to manually install the XXLSA leaked software on your Note, so let’s get started.
This leaked ROM is still in the test stage, but according to our sources (check the link from here for more details) it seems that the Android 4.1.2 firmware is working perfectly and there are no bugs in the system. So, the update is a stable one meaning that you have no reasons for waiting for the official release date of the OTA update. You will be able to easily flash the same on your Galaxy Note by following and applying this manual method that will take you and guide you through the installation procedure. In order to make a proper idea related to the Jelly Bean OS for the Note N7000, here are some of the features which will be added to your phablet:
Android 4.1.2 Features for Galaxy Note
This is an official software meaning that it is coming straight from Samsung (even though we are still talking about the leaked Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean ROM) so by updating the same on your galaxy Note you will not void your phone’s warranty. Furthermore, you don’t need to have a rooted device for being able to flash this firmware and also the root access (if it was previously gained) will now be revoked and the bootloader relocked. Therefore, once you install the jelly Bean OS on your Note you will be able to restore the warranty, this if your handset is currently running a custom ROM firmware.
A backup though is still recommended because this is being considered a risky operation. Remember that you will manually flash the official software (which normally will OTA be received) on your Galaxy Note. So, take your time and make sure that all of your personal data is in safe hands. Then, you can safely go and perform the proper steps from below. If you don’t know how to complete a full backup then use our suitable guides (search through our how to section for the same) for learning how to save the contacts, messages, call logs, EFS and lot more.
Samsung Galaxy Note N7000
Update Samsung
Update Samsung Galaxy Note N7000
As this tutorial explains a manual procedure, a Windows running computer will be required along with your device and its USB cord. On your Note enable the USB debugging option before doing anything else. Then, on both phablet and PC deactivate or uninstall the security tools or programs like antivirus and Firewall protection. The Note must have enough battery life for being able to stay alive during the update operation; therefore if there is less than 60% power left take the battery and charge it. This guide should be applied only for installing the Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 with the leaked Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware because the software won’t work on a differed device and worst you can even end up in bricking your smartphone or tablet.
Code:
How to Update Galaxy Note with Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Leaked XXLSA Firmware
Download the update file from here.
Extract the file on your computer.
Then, download Odin.
Extract and install Odin on your computer.
Turn off the Galaxy Note.
Put your phablet in download mode.
The download mode can be reached by pressing and holding the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
Now, on your computer open Odin.
On Odin, click on PDA and select the “CODE_N7000XXLSA_549786_REV02_user_low_ship.tar” file.
Next, also from Odin select Phone and pick the “MODEM_N7000XXLSA_REV_05_CL1222228.tar” file.
Finally, select CSC and pick the “CSC_OXA_N7000OXALSA_549786_REV02_user_low_ship.tar” file.
Make sure that the Re-partition option is not checked and don’t make any other changes on Odin.
Connect the device (must be in download mode) with the PC by using its USB cable.
Once the handset is connected on Odin the “added” messages should be displayed and the ID:COM section should be yellow.
If different install the drivers on your computer and re-do the above mentioned steps.
On Odin, click on “Start”.
Wait until the process ends.
In the end, the phablet will reboot by itself.
Also, on Odin the “pass” message will be displayed.
If you get a boot loop then complete the following:
Reboot the Galaxy Note in recovery mode: press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time and this time choose recovery.
Then, from the recovery menu select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”. All the data will be wiped out so remember to backup the data first.
Select “+++go back+++” and “reboot system now” and you are done.
So, that was all for now. Your Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 has been successfully updated with the official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software. Remember that the OTA update will be made available later this year or in January 2013, this being the leaked firmware. Do tell how things worked for you by using the comments area from below.
my question,is can i revert back to ics, Stock, and if i stay with this jb, can i update to the "released version"?
Thanks, Amatris.
This is a leaked version and you cannot upgrade when the official version comes out. you can revert back to stock ICS the same way as you install this. using PC odin and selecting the ICS file in the PDA section.
Donot wipe on stock ICS kernels
Thanks for the fast Response, Im sorry if im sounding like a noob at the moment, but i have had many problems with past phones and installing updates/Roms, yeah i got the roms to work but not all of them worked properly, Would i have to update the kernels too?, all i want is to have my note as Stock as it can get with Jb, "intill release" then Revert back to Stock ics and Stock isc kernel, to Re update when it is... released.
iv had a look around Xda, but i dont want to install all of the "faster kernal's" etc, i mean as long as i can get my note back to stock Everything for the Released version i will be happy, could you link me to a guild of what im looking for?,
so a run down....
i want Samsung Jb
and i want to be able to revert back to when i got the phone, if anything goes wrong. for example could i make a whole System back up kernel inc, and revert back at a later date?
Edit:
Could i use this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
and update to samsung jb,
then when Official jb is released, download the official ICS Rom, Install, then update Via the Settings/about phone. Update?

Any how.. you could root your device and install a custom kernel to get CWM. using CWMs backup feature, you can backup the entire rom ... This backup will include all you apps and data. so when you restore this, it will be just like when you did the backup. This backup includes a custom kernel as stock kernel is not safe and stock recovery doesnot have this feature
You can go to samfirmware.com and download the XXLSA rom and install it using Odin. its all stock.. and there is a later version available here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992573
flashing roms using PC odin is safe, as this is stock, you cannot restore the old rom. for this you will need CWM again. so you can install Philz kernel for XXLSA or LSC which ee\ver you chose and flash it. this will give you cwm. now using this you can revert back to your old rom as well

Yes you can revert back. CWM has a backup and restore reature. It needs CWM

Yes .. any rom you want as you have philz now.
If you choose custom XXLSA. then flash using CWM recovery..follow instructions from the rom thread.. it will replace the kernel with what is included in the new rom.
if you choose odin flashable, then flash as any stock.. this will also flash the new kernel which is included in the rom

You mean to say the phone is going into download mode but pc can see it? Install lies first. It will install requires drivers. Then try again.
I am saying this as you have not mentioned what all you have tried.
hello every one!
I have a little question about my galaxy note.
I have updated my galaxy note n7000 to the custom rom "ultimate n7000 LT4 JB 4.1.2 v6" and when I tried to call someone using the slide call option of the touchwizz it didn't work. In the previous version on the Ultimate n7000 "v5" it was working perfectly.
At first I thought that I didn't install the update correctly, and i did it again but it still didn't work.
my question is : is it possible to fix this or not?
thank you .
But what exactly happens? It force closes/restarts the phone/somethign else? Also did you do a full wipe before flashing the ROM? Full wipe includes wiping system, data, preload, cache, dalvik cache
thanks for response
no it does't force the phone to restart or anything like that and yes I have done a full wipe before flashing the Rom.
Well these are custom roms and aren't 100% bug-free. so i suggest u revert back to a earlier stable version of the rom or inform the developer of the ROM about your problem and he should fix it in the update
