Hi Guys,
Just updated to Note to the new ICS rom in the UK, wanted to add some of the S3 features I see around on the forum. But I'm running into difficulty with the E Signatures which I think form reading I need to install CWM so I can install the .zip's.
I read This thread about install CWM, however my Kernal ("LQ2") is not listed.
Is there a Kernel I can use to install CWM with or should I wait until it is listed on that thread?
Would appreciate any help. I do search and read before posting all the time (hence why I am quite quiet!) so I really do need help, not being lazy!
Thank you in advance.
There is an LQ2 kernel in chainfires thread in development section. Use that one.
Hello there,
This is my first post and question. I hope I'll get the right answer here.
I've been reading lately that is better to have an old recovery clockwork 5.x.x.x than 6.x.x.x for custom rom like CyanogenMod 9 and other based on CM9 roms. I'm asking because I have a lot of problems and I want to see if I change CWM what will be the different. Do you think this will help? If YES - Can you tell me how to change my CWM6 to CWM5 without flashing the ROM and loose all my app and settings?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad English!

Need to know what is your phone model . Check Here to chose your forum/Guide by Version of your phone or you will have more problems by using wrong solutions due to different versions of Galaxy S
just flash the correct semaphore kernel according to version of i9000 ROM you are using from My Android Collections to get the correct CWM
you will not lose any data by doing this

Both thread are stickied and always on top, ( not every model gets this privilege) I guess you must have overlooked them.
anyway to get the i9001 CWM, just look under "Android Rescue, Recovery Kits" in My Android Collections

OK, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Do I have to write there again or you or someone else can give me the right answer?

use CWM 6 or TWRP 6 for latest versions, if your CWM is wrong, upgrades via CWM will fail, so downgrading CWM is not wise.
Best use i9001 WIKI for guidance

I would rather say go with cwm 5.x.x.x . CWM6 has some bugs (reboots sometimes in between flashing a rom), which can actually brick ur phone!
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda app-developers app

Hi guys, I'm running stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted with stock recovery and want to flash KitKat on there. I've flashed custom ROMs and CWM before so this isn't that new really, but this phone has me baffled. I just can't seem to flash PhilZ Touch CWM6 on there. I've tried via stock recovery loading the .zip from there but comes up with an error, and I tried flashing from Odin3 too, but that also reports failed.
Also I'm using the official zip from PhilZ thread too.
Could someone shade some light here for me please? Thanks in advanced!
Wrong thread... Disregard.

Hi,
I see you've already posted this question in your device section. Asking in the Philz thread may be an idea too.
If you've read the stickies at the top of this section you'd understand XDA Assist is here to help members navigate the site, not for support. And you already knew where to post.
Thanks for understanding. Thread closed.

Sorry I did read after. I've now solved my problem and successfully installed PhilZ Touch. I got the link to the official download but the tutorial linked to the wrong version for my kernel.
This thread can now be closed

You need a tls compatible recovery to flash this rom. And you should wipe system,data,cache,dalvik-cache(using tls cwm recovery only).

What exactly is "TLS"???
I did all the wipes you mentioned.
As I told earlier I used ClocworkMod version 5 and version 6. If version 4 is needed I could not find it on the web.

CWM-6.0.5.3-tass-jenkins+(1).zip has brick my phone!?
Dear Mata99,
ist this possible, that the recovery file CWM-6.0.5.3-tass-jenkins+(1).zip you had listed in your thread, breaked my phone (GT-S5570)?
I would try install your CW11 Andriod 4.4.4 custom rom (cm-11-20150718-UNOFFICIAL-tass.zip) and therefor, I tried to install the required recovery file, you had listed.
After installing this file, my phone is dead.
Formaly, I used CW11 Android 4.4.2 (cm-11.0.0-tass-MODDED-Stable-RC7.zip) with CW Recovery 6.0.5.0 (tass-recovery-cwm.tar) and it works.
Is ther any chance, to bring it to life?
Best regards,
Mr.1100
