Root Loses warranty
So is it possible "to lose warranty without losing it?" got it ?
yeah you can always unroot it to regain warranty.
N your ROM is non rootable, directly, you have to downgrade first.
Do what Zamboney said you in previous post.
Dont be afraid, you will not use warranty if you respect the treads of cds dev, they are very good, and the gnote is strong !

Sorry, I want to say xda dev's, not cds.

I know that root -> no warranty, but...

Couldn't there be a way to port this "no counter increase" root method from I717 to N7000 though?
Download root guide from last link on my signature. N follow it to the letter, it wont raise counter dont worry.

You need root privileges to unlock Bootloader. It says it on the unlocker cmd file. "Getting root rights" or something similar.
Actually, you need to root to do pretty much everything here on XDA.

i'd really like to root and install a custom rom on this device , i've heard about gingerbreak and superoneclick but none of them worked with me so can anyone please give me a link or something to a guide on how to root this device ??

Check out NOOBYs How To Thread. Its a sticky somewhere. Gingerbreak and Superoneclick only work on certain versions. Rather use Smart Flash Tool to install a patched ROM.

The new rooting method is generic it install new firmware already rooted and is not dependant on what software the phone is using ( why it's also a recovery method )
The older rooting methods fool the OS into giving you root permission through various exploits and then properly root it with its new permissions. The older methods relies on vulnerabilities and that is why a lot of rooting tools don't work after the software has been patched.

Its highly subjective. Its depends on what you prefer.
I think Zeuz is the best ROM at the moment. CM10 is fast becoming very good. There's still a few minor bugs but its getting better and better with each nightly. I really like the way the V30 Repack looks but there's a few bugs that are quite annoying like USSD codes don't work and SD mounting doesn't work fully.
