What type of drain are people getting while phone is not in use?
Last night I dropped from 64% to 54% in 9 hours, despite the fact that better battery stats showed 97% deep sleep for the time period. Seems bad to me. On lots of other phones, overnight drain is in the 2 - 5% range.
Yes, active notifications are disabled while I sleep. I don't even have touchless control set up yet, so it can't be that. I have the same few location services turned on that I always do, and like I said, I usually see 2-5% overnight on other phones, not 10%.
Anybody else?
PS for those of you who want to say who cares, I did this test because I was noticing faster than usual idle drain during the day, too, but sleeping is the best time to get a long chuck of idle time.
Edit: could it be because the phone always has those sensors on waiting to to see if the phone moves to light up the time? Or the double twist for camera sensor always being on?

Get "Better battery stats" or a similar app to see what is running during idle. But to be fair that is just over 1% an hour.....that is not awful whatsoever. The only way you could get any better would be to disable any wifi/data, and those location services.....OR just turn the phone off completely. I've had phones that have had way higher drain on idle than 1.5%.

Like I said in my op, better battery stats showed 97% deep sleep in that time period overnight. And most of my other phones have lost only half as much or so overnight.

My SGS3 running Stock and Nexus 4 both lose 10-16% overnight. Normal if u ask me.

Not normal at all. My nexus 5 drained only 3% over 11 hours on WiFi. CM11s is buggy as fuarkkk
Is it just me or is anyone else having this problem. Every time I charge my phone, and then take it off the charger I have know deep sleep. No matter what rom I am on. I have to go to Google framework clear data then reboot. Then I get deep sleep?
It can never deep sleep whilst on charge but as soon as it is off and been inactive a while, it should deep sleep. If yours isn't sleeping, I suggest installing better battery stats or something to see what's keeping it awake.

thats how its supposed to be. it doesnt sleep while on the charger, as @rootSU said. but when off the charger, and the screen is off, it should go into deep sleep. if it doesnt, then you have a problem.

I understand that when on the charger it does not deep sleep I am saying after I take it off the charger it does not. Like when I wake up in the morning I grab my phone take it off the charger. Check my email look at Facebook. Now I have been on it for 5min and already at 97%. So I look at trickster and look at my info deepsleep 0. If I do nothing and continue using it it does not deep sleep. It continues to eat my battery. If I clear data in framework as soon as I wake up. Boom deepsleep? I mean yesterday I tried taking it off the charger and waited for a while and no deepsleep the best I got was 9% deepsleep. When I clear data I get 75% deepsleep for the rest of the day. I never had a problem like this with any other phone. I will try to take some screen shots
I have the same problem. Do you have an Android Wear device by any chance?

most likely its an app keeping your device awake. facebook is a known terrible app. i uninstalled it 3 years ago, and havent been happier. it drained 24% battery one day, when i never used it for a month. try uninstalling facebook, then check your deep sleep. facebook via the browser is just as good as the app.
My Note 5 (SM-N920I) has poor battery life and after reading the threads on here I assumed that there could be many courses however after resetting my phone I left it turned off for 24h and it dropped 20% battery. I always turn on flight mode at night to and over 8h it will loose 15-20% battery. Does it sound like the battery is defective or am I missing something?
Please help

Do you have root? If you do then use amplify to stop some of the wakelocks and set CPU to change the CPU speed to the lowest when your device screen is off.

Thanks, I don't have root and it is loosing battery when the phone is switched off not just screen off. Surely it shouldn't be losing battery then.

Ohh ok I understand you now then sorry I am not sure how to help you then. But all I can say it happened with my galaxy s2 when I use to use it ;(
I'm using better battery stats and i see the awake screen off time is always exponentially higher than my actual screen on time, slowly it balances out as i near towards 0% , i check kernel wake locks partial wake locks everything looks fine, what's causing this ghost bug to keep the phone awake when screen is off? is doze not working? on my one plus 3t, there was no major 'awake screen offf' stat in bbs it was always a low percentage but on the note 8 it's always top 3 ... what gives?
Are you using AOD?

Nope. Have edge notifications turned off as well
downloaded wkelock detector, besides the standard google wakelocks, IFTT is waking up the phone thousands of times.
How can i tell IFTT to chill ?
Try using "force doze" app, from playstore, also search for it here in xda for how to fine tunning it, I am getting ~ deep slepping 80% of the idle time with AOD edge clock, that translates in 0.7% per hour of idle with the screen off

Okay I'll try that, I assume greenify would do the same thing?
Overnight results
So I used force doze and still have high awake times while screen is off
This is driving me insane been using bbs for years and never had this show up this high before
still having the same problem, i used to get 6-8 hrs of SOT i can barely crack open 5hrs of SOT now, can anyone using better battery stats confirm they are getting lower screen off awake time?
I removed force size app and installed greenify 4 magisk. No diff in results
Anyone?
All I'm asking is for competitive better battery stats screenshots of screen off awake time
Sorry to revive this old thread.
@masri1987 - where you able to find a solution to this?
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I find the stand by drain right on par with my Note 10 Plus. It was fully charged at 7 PM last night and this morning at 6 AM was at 95%. I installed Nap Time by Francisco Franco with a couple of adb commands for the aggressive doze features.
Went to bed last night at 1am at 100% battery. No apps are running, i have a bixby routine that puts the phone into power saving mode while not in use over night. Woke up 7 hours later at 8am and the phone had gone down to 93%, so it has gone down 7% which is 1% percent every hour being lost. Looking at app usage nothing was running in the background this entire time. Had my device for 5 days now so has gone through learning stage. This is ridiculous standby drain, is anyone else having the same issue?
Yes my drain is also bad. Are you guys running Snapdragon or Exynos?
I am Exynos unfortunately.
Can any one try standby drain after installing naptime? Let us know if it helps reduce the drain.
I'm using Naptime and I think it does help with standby drain. it is in the par with note10 at around 6-7% over night.

Can you share your settings? Do you run naptime the entire day or schedule it only at night?

I run it all the timed. Here's a screen of my settings, I don't disable BT on doze as I have my Note connected to my Panasonic home phone.
For me it was much worse, about 3% per hour during sleep! I just deactivated VoLTE calls (and also the 5G just in case) and it's much better all of a sudden! Can you try this, maybe it's the same problem for you?

Motion smoothness is the culprit
I have been playing around with Note 20 Ultra (T-mobile carrier locked version - SM-N986U)
I turned off 5G (Connections --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode --> Switched to LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
But even with 5G off my battery drained this morning while only have google maps open 10% in 45 minutes!
All my apps that I frequently use I have gone one by one under battery usage and selected put app to sleep.
My power mode was at optimized with so I lowered it to Medium Power saving and that looks like it took care of it.
If I go back to Optimized but keep motion smoothness at standard then the phone seems to handle battery usage much better (this is all with sync on for email push).
It much more on par with my previous Razer Phone and closer to iPhone XR territory.
Amazing. Only discharges about 0.5% per hour. Thats with always on display turned on.

Wow..you could be the first use reporting this less standby drain..I have 1% per hour with Always on and 0.5% without Always on...any special tweaks you did to achieve this?

My mistake on this. My Always On Display is set to tap to wake only.
However to get best battery life possible with Always On Display set to be on full-time, turn off auto brightness, then you can manually set the brightness down the lowest setting.
That might get you down to 0.75% per hour, but I haven't tested that myself on this phone. However with my S10+ I did that and it helped a lot. Only downfall is you can't see Always On Display in bright sunlight. However indoors is usually still visible.
Got the phone (n20u exynos) yesterday at around 7:45 pm. It had 64 percent battery. Did the phone setup, sync and played around with dex. The phone got warm. Went to sleep at around 11:30 and the battery lasted me till today morning 6:30, with 2 hours sot. Don't feel its that bad. I also think it might improve further as it is still in the learning phase.
i avg .9-1.0% a hour with screen off over night..
Use Samsung Members app

if you're having an issue with battery drainage, report it to Samsung directly via Samsung Members app.
Snapdragon. Switch off wifi and normal powersaving mode with 5g still on.
7hrs sleep time, consumes battery 4%
I'm losing 4 % each to Google and Youtube, though the apps aren't running. I've forced them to sleep when not being used and hoping that will slow the drain. I'll have to wait a couple of days to see if that has helped.
About 4% for a 8.5 hours of sleeping, not bad [emoji6]View attachment 5097301

How do you know its 4%. i think its more. Also on a personal note Who uses Tinder bro? Get rid of that crap. Plenty better stuff out there. Not to offend everyone has their own taste, i just said it on a light note.
