I am currently running GingerVolt 1.3 ROM but there are some of the stock LG Revo widgets i would still like so i was hoping someone could help me. First, i would like to still use the Media Widget, the one that takes up a whole screen, and you can scroll between artist, albums, photos, videos, and playlists. Thats the only one I can remember that i wanted to still use for now, but when i remember the others ones i will post em, but for now, if someone could help me get that widget back, that would be great !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456454
So thats a pretty cool thing. (Don't know whether to call it a ROM or a theme or what lol) but I don't want all of em back. Just the in touch widget. Is there a way I can just find those files and then drop them in the proper place and have in touch widget work with gingervolt ?

It's a program you run on your PC with your phone plugged into the computer.
Here are mtmichaelson's instructions, just a little more in laymens terms.
1.) Download the .zip on your PC & extract it to the desktop
2.) Make sure the correct LG drivers are installed
3.) Connect phone to PC with USB Cable and put phone in Internet Connection mode
4.) Open folder you just downloaded and extracted to the desktop
5.) Double click the file StockAppInstaller.bat
6.) Follow options to install whichever apps you want
7.) Reboot when done

If you run this and it doesn't root you try wiping data from Setting>privacy and wipe the internal storage as well. I did that and it worked for me. Granted I didn't try this method without wiping my internal. If nothing else it cleans it up for you.

Ok, so whatever changes you made ... it seems to work better in a virtual windows environment
Before it would get stuck at "daemon started succesfully"
now it goes through to "Installing Root Tools..."
but then I get a string of error messeages
either "device offline" or "device not found"
then "cleaning up" ... device not found
then "rebooting" ...device not found
then it freezes
when I unplug my device or toggle debugging mode it continues to say "root complete"
.... so close.
So If I'm rooted on Z4? then I still need to unroot and upgrade to Z6 for this to work?
Thanks a lot man for such this easy one-click-root tool.

i updated to v7... ran this..it keeps telling me root is successful it cleans up n then reboots.. i see superuser i try and update it n it fails when trying to gain root access.. also opened titanium backup and cannot gain root... any suggestions?
1. Phone must be rooted and have CWM recovery installed
2. Download Rom of choice and place on internal sdcard
3. Make sure all LG drivers and software are removed from computer
4. Install LG Flash Tool
5. Install Drivers
6. Remove phones battery, sim, and sdcard
7. Hold volume + button while plugging in phone (keep holding volume + until phone is recognized)
8. When asked for location of drivers choose the correct location (this will ask twice) Should be C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LG Android Driver
9. Right click on My Computer and select manage
10. Click on device manager
11. Click on ports and then right click on the phone port and select properties
12. Click on tab for ports settings and click on advanced
13. Change port to 41 and click ok
14. Unplug phone from computer
15. Run LG Flash tool by selecting the alternate .exe file
16. Select the appropriate .dll file and select the appropriate .fls file for the S/W, select the USB button for connection mode, click ok
17. Select the picture up top that looks like a printer cable and select port 1, click OK
18. Click on the yellow arrow up top and make sure port 1 says ready
19. While holding your volume + button, plug in your usb cable and hold volume + until port 1 shows some activity
20. Process should run until 22% and then say failed. Choose the red circle with a minus sign to exit.
21. Unplug USB from phone and insert battery, sim, and sd card.
22. Boot phone and after booted power down.
23. Boot into CWM recovery and wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, install zip from sdcard, choose zip from internal sdcard, select Rom. Reboot system and enjoy.
Hopefully this simplifies things for those of you that are trying to get Gingerbread installed. If you need screen shots for certain parts I will try to help out.
Watch Video and follow steps above "http://youtu.be/ExwoHC5pOiQ"
To get back to stock just use the V10e .fls file and then load the stock rom from CWM recovery.
For factory stock try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1270832 after the baseband is restored

Did you use superoneclick to root it? And do you have cwm? If you do odds are your rooted! Btw I'm loving GB super fast and smooth. If it took, you should have superuser in your apps drawer.
You can download titanium back up if you are unsure, it needs root to run, and will ask for permission to do so.
Otherwise you can get root checker basic.
After that, if you wish to get rid of all the phone companies goodies, feel free to look in the development section, there are a couple roms. I like Gingervolt. I do believe you start with gingervolt 1.0 and then 1.1, then 1.2 then 1.3 with out removing anything from the previous builds. I know some glitches have been reported in the later versions, but MT is always around to help and we are always here to answer questions.
just a suggestion for people trying to upgrade to update 8 i was successful in keeping Root from 7 just by using Superoneclick
this was my process
install stock rooted v7(skip if stock) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1348637
make sure your in usb debuging mode and plug into computer (win7 64 bit is ok) then select internet connection mode
Run lg1click/install drivers and option 5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1348557
reboot and go to settings/aboutphone/softwareupdate/checknow and update phone
When finished rebooting run super 1 click and click root http://shortfuse.org/?page_id=2
when finished with that open Titanium backup or install trial from market when opened it prompts to fix SU access just tell it ok and reboot

Would anybody mind uploading a zip file of their "/preinstall" system folder from their Droid 4? I'm missing some files from in there. Specifically the video files for the "Guided Tours" stock app. I must have deleted them a while back, and now I can't install the Jelly Bean OTA update.
I went back to stock, removed Safestrap and unrooted the phone to do the update. And when I go to do it, it gives me an error because those files weren't found. They don't seem to be in the Droid 4 Dump, so I guess I'm S.O.L. unless I can get them from somebody.
If I deleted those, I probably deleted something else from in there, so could you please send me the whole directory? I'd be happy to throw you a donation. Ten bones sound fair? Many thanks in advance.

Went ahead and did it last night, and it worked! After using this to reset my ICS stock ROM, the OTA Jelly Bean Update installed just fine. Thanks a ton. I gotta say, this online community rocks! I love how helpful and supportive everybody is of each other.
One minor note, I had to do this on my roommate's Windows 7 computer to get it to work. I couldn't get it to work on either my laptop or desktop, both of which have Windows 8. The phone drivers wouldn't install. Strange; I downloaded the USB drivers from Motorola, and they appeared to install, but when I plugged my phone into the computer, and went to use the Utility, it kept giving me a "Device not found" error. And also, when I checked in "Device Manager," it showed my phone with an exclaimation point and said that the drivers weren't installed.
When I followed the same process on a Windows 7 computer, the drivers installed as soon as I plugged the phone in. Weird; Motorola's website said that the drivers were for Windows 7 and 8. I tried disabling "Signature Verification" on Windows 8, but that didn't work either. Anybody know if Motorola hasn't released Windows 8 drivers for Droid 4 yet? Just wanna know for future reference. Thanks a bunch.
