Once you have recharged to a total of 80 dollars optus will provide network unlock code for free. Otherwise you can pay for a third party unlock service or use an xtc clip.
thanks for your reply.
I've put the $80 through my phone already but when I call optus they r giving me answers like they can't find my imei number on their network and aren't helpful at all so I was hoping there was another to do it. Looks like I have to go back and try my luck with optus

What department are you calling? Here's a couple of numbers that might help you.
Customer service (prepaid mobile): 1300 555 002
Technical support (mobile): 1300 307 937
If those departments give you too much hassle ask to elevate the issue to retention.
If still no luck you could always threaten to call the TIO.

The eBay sellers have access to the same codes Optus/etc have, and your IMEI # is printed visibly on the phone, so Optus' policy like most providers' is to not give up the unlock code. It's profitable.
The eBay sellers, however, are in the business of providing unlock codes, so they are happy and quick to help you out. It's profitable.

I went to unlockstreak (sorry, I don't post enough here to give you the URL)
Gave them the IMEI code from my Streak 7 box. Within 2 days I had a code in my e-mail. Popped in my ATT SIM. It prompted me for the code and... presto: I was on ATT's HSPA+ net.
Works great.

Just a heads up, I am working with streakunlock to get a code for my warranty replacement s7. It is slow coming, like a week now but he is working it. Just don't get worked up if you have a newer s7 and request an unlock code. Btw, I fixed my original but figured I would keep the newer one.
Edit...
Got the code today and it works like a charm, really brilliant and pretty damn fast, faster than my atrix if that is saying anything

I wanna unlock mine too to use with the ATT work line... or just be ready if the merge happens.. but 50$ is a lil steep.
Least I got a orig DS7..
Unlocking is a pricey convenience
When I was researching how to unlock my Streak 7, here's what I learned:
1) Dell provides the unlock code and *only* to the carrier (T-Mobile) when they request one. They will not provide codes to consumers.
2) T-Mobile will obtain an unlock code for their customers upon request. I'm told you call customer service, but I have always had excellent luck resolving other tech issues using the online chat support. That would be my first stop.
3) T-Mobile will provide you the code in about 48 hours, but I couldn't find out if there were any charges.
4) You must have an AT&T SIM to trigger the Streak 7 to prompt you for the unlock code.
I chose to pay for a service simply for the convenience, since it was guaranteed to work. But if costs are a consideration, I would definitely hit up T-Mobile's support site and request one.
No charge for equipment unlock reqs with TMobile...can do one unlock req per 12 months. You must be a customer for at least 40 days OR pay full cost for device

This may or may not work. ive been on the phone with att 4 times in the past week for periods of up to 2 hours and i kept getting told that "the system shows that your device doesnt currently have a unlock code available. And, the system shows there is no date for when that unlock code will be available."
i thought this was att giving me the run around...over and over again... but apparently, after taking to three managers, and getting 2 call backs from dropped calls, theyre serious..
I am ofcourse talking about the sim unlock and not the bootloader unlock.
Carriers Put Delays on Unlock Codes
When I had my HD2 on T-Mobile, their stated policy was to require a minimum of 90 days on the account before they would provide an unlock code. After that time, I was able to get one from T-Mobile with no problem. AT&T probably has a similar policy. You might could get it early if you wanted to use the phone overseas with a local SIM.

thats the exact reason i gave them. I am going overseas and i need it unlocked. i have found that it is possible to get it sim unlocked though. just have to pay between 25-45 dollars at any site offering it. just be careful which site you want, as alot of them look.. less than dependable.
If someone successfully unlocked their Vivid from one of these website, please post the URL. Thank you.

I have purchased this phone last month from someone and have tried to unlock it with the code that I purchased from website and it did not work. HOw and where do I get unlcock this phone?
I finally bought a Xperia TL which I bought for 150 us dollars brand new, all sealed on Craigslist. I finally went ahead and contact CellularUnlocker.net to unlock my phone. They told me it is illegal to unlock phones unless I get permission from AT&T.
Now my main concern is. I am with T-Mobile the device is AT&T. Would they give me a hard time? or Call the cops on me if I even ask them permission?
Yes they CAN give you a hard time and decide not to let you unlock.
But no, they won't call the cops on you. Unlocking SIM is only illegal if you don't get permission of the company who locked the phone. In this case at&t..
Call or write them with your query. That's all you can do for now.

I haven't spoken to AT&T yet,but they are already giving me a hard time trying to contact them. First I tried a live chat, I needed an account to even chat with a rep. Second they have no email or make an inquiry option and last but not least. I called the customer service. I could not pass the first line because again I needed to be a customer and they wanted an account number or an AT&T number. When I put in my T-Mobile number the automated system will say, " I am sorry we could not find that number associated with this account again please try again." After few attempts the system will just hang up on me.
I guess the only way is to go in person.

Because one vacation two week vacation isn't a valid reason to switch carriers. I have my old TP2, its not a big deal. I just figured it would be nice to use my new phone while on vacation... So you are saying the only frequency that the One supports is the frequency for LTE and not that of any GSM carriers?

I went through about 6 different reps before I got a supervisor who knows anything you have to talk to international tech and then then submit a claim for you which is then reviewed by another department who then contacts you with a yes or no. It will automatically be a no if your phone hasn't been active for 90 days. They gave me that BS even with me being a rep and getting my phone given to me by HTC free of cost. So its not like I paid a subsidized price or anything but yes long process

Thank you for your response. So did you ultimately get it approved, or am I wasting my time until it has been 90 days? Which by the way is the stupid rule I have ever heard. I have been a long time Sprint customer why should it matter how long I have owned my phone?

It is a CDMA/GSM phone it will work internationally, that is not the issue. The question at hand is if the SIM can be unlocked so I can use another carrier and not pay Sprints outrageous international fees. Dual CDMA/GSM phones are nothing new. I have my old Touch Pro2 from years ago if this doesn't work, which is also a CDMA phone. Unless you have something helpful to add feel free to overlook my thread.
WTF? Is Sprint now locking all GSM phones? That policy used to apply only to iPhones. In the past, all other Sprint GSM-capable equipment was shipped unlocked.
I actually think it it would be reasonable for them to ship everything locked as long as they let established subscribers in good standing remove the lock upon request. Having to wait 90 days from the phone being activated does seem ridiculous. I don't see what they gain by doing this besides aggravating their customers.
In a semi related matter... Note that I believe the Sprint HTC One only supports one UMTS frequency (2100). That could be a problem in some countries as far as data service is concerned.
The 90 day rule is only for new customers, not a new phone. If you are a long time customer, it will be no problem. Just call the international department and they can take care of it.

Props as I already got mine unlocked with this info on day one. Sprint basically said they are not requiring an international roaming plan with this phone and that the 90 day thing for new people is to prevent them from buying their phones and selling for profit internationally.

I finally got through the process enough that I am now pending approval since my device isn't 90 days old. Non of the reps I talked to knew anything, they said the iPhone was the only phone that needed to be unlocked, that my phone was already unlocked, that it wasn't possible to use an international SIM. Be persistent insist that you are correct and that your phone does indeed require an unlock. Now hopefully it comes back with no problems from the approval process, I will be raising hell if they deny my device since it is new. That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard in my life. Good luck!

So pretty sure I'm a victim of just being dumb. On Craigslist, yup Craigslist, a guy was looking to trade a Note 5 (t-mobile) for a iPad Air 2. I have an extra iPad laying around that I won so was I was interested in the trade. I had done something similar with the s6 Edge. I have AT&T but want it rooted so I know the only option is t-mobile. I didn't even think, but I get home but the Note is still being financed so I'm pretty sure it's not eligible to be unlocked. I haven't called t-mobile yet, but I don't think that's gonna matter. I'm kinda screwed
Pretty sure I have an awesome iPod touch. I sent for one of those unlock code things but from what I've read that's just not gonna work. The guy was really cool, he needed to go back to an iPhone for work. I haven't tried contacting him. I obviously can but I doubt that'll go over well. Any suggestions? At the end of the day I swapped a free iPad for an awesome Note 5, but just sucks that I don't think I'll be able to use it.
Thanks
BTW it's not blacklisted, just financed. I know I could use it on T-Mobile, but I don't have the service.
What is your question? Unlock it at www.cellunlocker.net
Sent from my Gorgeous Note5
Untill its blacklisted it should still work. T mobile wont unlock it themselves till its paid off im sure but if the guy u got it from has had the service for a while he may have every intention of continuing his account and paying the bill every month. I would have passed on it myself in your situation unless it was already unlocked. Try a cheap service and get a unlock code. If it doesnt work then contact the guy back and let him know what the deal is. 50/50 chance if u contact him quick he will be cool about it.

Thats BS. Cellunlocker have great customer service. I've been dealing with them for almost 10 years, 2-3 times a year and always had the code withing 3-6 hours with 1 exception...even on weekends and holidays they deliver. What company refunds you at least 50% of your cost just by posting a video of the process? The only reason you would ask for a refund is if you've provided them with the wrong IMEI. It happened to me once, and their terms of service clearly state that no refund will be issued if its a user mistake. Which is totally understandable because they provided me with the service, why should they pay? I had one issue with the correct IMEI being sent but process froze my phone. I called them and were able to provide me with unfreeze code over the phone and help me through the process. Their codes are also some of the cheapest on the market.
It's not because you had a bad experience that they have bad customer service. I'm sure you haven't told us the entire story either.
T-Mobile uses a Device Unlock app on it's Note5 devices; traditional sim unlocking will not work. T-Mobile does something on their end to process the unlock without entering a SIM unlock code. here's a link to an S6 thread where the OP implies he can SIM unlock your S6/Note5 device if your phone is rooted. had i known of this, i would have tried it myself. fortunately, T-Mobile granted me a permanent unlock because i paid full price for my phone. Good luck.
