So, I was installing a ROM on my phone, and it was having problems, so I tried doing some cleaning up, which involved deleting data and the cache and the sd card. I think I must have somehow deleted the /system folder, because I have no Market and no other system apps (like the 3d camera). Can anyone help me here?
If u can boot into recovery jump over to the return to stock thread and flash the stock rom and u should b good to go

Hello Everyone
Is there any way at all to access the dictionary that HTC uses? I have the HTC_IMD Mod keyboard which has in the settings menu access to user dictionary but I do not think this is the full list of user added dictionary items.
If I can't edit individual items add or delete is there a way to flush the user dictionary completely and have it start from fresh? I ask because I have noticed when switching between roms and if both roms have the HTC_IMD Mod the user added dictionary seems to presist between roms even after a wipe of data and cache
Thats weird usually a full wipe kills everything

Yep I did all those things. The only one I wasn't' able to do was wipe dalvik cache. When I tried to do so through the recovery menu an error occurred and it told me to use adb wipe dalvik. So I tried that but when I typed adb wipe dalvik the help page came up describing the adb commands and it doesn't seem as though wipe is one of them.
How do you wipe the cache through adb?
I am using the rom which is Darktremor A2SD compatible. Every time I change another rom then all apps will get force close. I need to reinstall those apps.
Is it normal?
Anyone can help me? Thanks!!
When you change ROMs, it's advised to ALWAYS WIPE EVERYTHING. That includes EXT partition.
If you want your programs to run after moving to another ROM - back them up using Titanium, change ROM, and restore them.

Actually I'm not sure wiping EXT is necessary but certainly data, caches etc.. If problems continue, then wipe EXT too.
EXT should just have the APK's on it, they should just work.
If you're wiping /data, then you're left with APKs on EXT and no data structure for them in /data/data. Might be just the reason for force-closes.

most roms detect and "re-install" the ext apps on first boot. All 200+ for me
Wiping ext would be the very last thing I'd do to solve a problem.
I used to do this. But i learned that it breaks some apps, and the built in rom restore function will restore any apps you got from the market. You need to do a full wipe when going to a new rom. upgrade may not need this, but some devs like king dont know how to make upgrades so all of his new versions require a full wipe.
Thanks you all! Seems that full wipe is necessary
Hi all, i installed the FroyoMOD 2.6.0 and its all good.
When i install one of the few next versions, i cant do a clean install.
After each installation, i still have all my apps and settings
Even after the three wipes.
Also when i try factory reset, still nothing.
The only thing i get after wipes or factory reset is to sign to my google account.
Any idea what can i do to get a pure clean install for the 2.7.0?
Tx, Shahar.

Do you have an ext2 partition? Because I have one and I'm wondering if, even after a wipe, all of my apps are still there because of my ext2 partition.
Yeap, ext2.

I'm really wondering if because our apps are moved to the sd-card, if that is what is making all of our apps get reinstalled on the first boot of a new ROM.. It would mean I don't even need to restore from TB, it's doing it already
Try re-flashing the 2.2.1 sbf with vulnerable recovery, then achieving root, then updating to froyo mod. If you need help refer to this thread (only the beginning after you achieve root then apply the custom rom) or if mine is too difficult to comprehend, there is anotehr guide in this forum. : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932196 good luck
Using apps2ext means AOR cannot wipe your your app data and dalvik-cache because it looks for these on the phone, not on the EXT partition of your card.
So, before you flash a new ROM, manually delete the /app, /app-private and /dalvik-cache folders in /system/sd (or /sd-ext where applicable) to wipe these files off.
You can use Root Explorer or any similar app to do so.
Or if you use Linux, just mount the EXT partition and delete the files within.
hey guys i have an XXLSZ stock installed with Philz kernal root only ,, no mods no anything
so the phone started lately to freeze fully and i'm unable to access it i only can by removing the batter or keep holding the power button
is there anything i can do without flashing and/or installing a new stock
i tried wiping cache and dalvik but nothing
May be you can root use TB to remove some bloatwares and make space in the system partition

Run some scans using e2fsck for system and data partition to check for errors. Look for forest method in the forum.
Hi,
(Hope it's the right place? Can't ask in the rom-thread, because < 10 posts)
I'm using Paranoid Android 2.6 by TonyP Build 10. This morning suddenly all the app data disappeared. The Apps still work fine, but all data (scores, settings) are gone. The sdcard is okay, pictures and so on are still there.
Does anybody have an idea why this happend and how i can get my data back?

did the installation wiped your whole Internal Storage?
and what recovery did you use to flash the Rom?

um, this did not happen after a update, it happend suddenly after a boot
Recovery: ROM Manager - CWM
Wipe cache(NOT DATA) and dalvikcache and reboot.
Then again after a reboot go back to recovery and fix permissions.
// If that doesnt work try installing the rom again
///// If that doesnt work the data has been erased somehow. Cant tell from here.
Also: Check if the files for games etc are still on the SDcard.
