Hello.
I read some forums and I heve seen, some ROMs are developed for specific (don't know what it is),such as XXLA,XXLB,DKL1,XKL3 etc...

Wow,I am surprised,there's a lot of combinations,but now I know why. Thanks.
However,is it safe to flash any ROM to the N9000,no matter what the code is?
I was affraid, that it is designed for a specific group of the hardware, not all for my
You can have any, if there is no carrier restriction on your device.

Well, thanks a lot. I bought mine out of my carrier,so it is completely free and unlocked.
Just keep in mind if you flash another ROM, that is not for your region, You won't get Kies/OTA update onwards.
But who cares? XDA will give you latest update on same day when kies release it and even before OTA release.
Major benefit is sometime your region may not get latest update for long time but, you will have freedom to update as it released for any country.
There are some small inconvenient such as when u use google maybe the search is not local result. Other then that i can think of any other thing else.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
I was hoping, that google looks at the carrier, therefore it knows,in which country I am. Don't care,I don't use it. For POI I use navisoftware. What about Kies: Actually,I have no idea, what it is,so I don't care as well. OTA also not important, because I can download and flash any ROM.
Ok, now my head hurts! Reminds me of Vehicle Identification Numbers.
Thanks

There have been people here who were adventurous enough to go ahead & flsh their phones to whatever they wanted. A few of them got their phones BRICKED. Cant to ahead, cant go back, STUCK. They went & complained at the service centers that they were trying to update via Kies, the official Samsing software & god knows what went wrong, its BRICKED. I think they ended up convincing them. Well, tjis is the gist of what I have learned from the forums, its your call, you take it. I am from Hubli, Karnataka, India. I hated the stock ROM, updated to JG4 via Kies, Hated it, Updated to JPC, Loved it, Updated to JPH, aahhh, beautiful.
There's a thread here that points to the Stock DDJG4 ROM for India if you want to revert back.

Guys, I am from Bangalore and living with JG4. I havent applied any lagfix or GPS fix.
I am generally happy with JG4 but yea, havent seen a offical update in a while.
I am rooted: Search for 1-click Root/Unroot for Galaxy S
With a click you can root yourself and can unroot too - for warranty reasons.
Never observed a lag as such but I use AutoKiller Memory. Keeps my phone smooth; no lags.Try the aggressive setting.
GPS works good, fix is fast and position perfect. I use Google Navigation [BRUT], yes you can use the US Google navigation here in India with spoken street names - hows that. Recently I did a Bangalore - Pondicherry drive just on Google Navigation and it was awesome. I had all internal village roads mapped and navigated me through it. As you already know, the stock official Google Navigation doesnt work.

KingHarsha - here you go
Search 'brut google maps 4.4' in google. Use the first link to load BRUT versions while keeping your stock google maps and navigation versions. Use the Stockified versions if you want to replace teh stock ones. I didnt do that, and I am comfortable with BRUT versions sitting near the stock ones.
No you have to pay data charges. But seeing that you are on this phone, I guess you already have data enabled on your PC. And yea you stay in chennai, so definitely you have 3G as well. I switched to dreaded BSNL just to get 3G services.
But dont worry abt data too much. Surprisingly it doesnt uze that much. If you have wifi at home, just setup your flightplan and it will download tiles along your way. tiles are big enough so if you detour or so, you are still within the downloaded area. U need to enable cache in brut menu.
Personally, I dont use the voice directions in city. It doesnt give instructions but it says a sentence. thats too much to decode while driving. But that problem exists in original sw as well. I kept it on during my roadtrip and I had great experience. First thing you will notice is that its smooth, your car doesnt update in jumps or maps dont move in jumps, they just smoothly rotate or move. Alternate routes, layers on teh way...its all there and its great.
Best part is oneways etc gets updated frequently and automatically since u connect to the cloud. When a flyover construction started, within a month it started routing me with the official detour posted on the road by traffic authorities. So thats great.
Well, thats my experience though.
Just search for 'one click root unroot galaxy S' on this forum. Not sure if it will work for you since you are already rooted.
Guys,
Looks like i am taking the dive and installing lagfix. I see 2 options - oneclick lay fix, or cflagfix.
Do you guys recommend any one of these?
Also in cant so 3buttons recovery and need to do that using clockmod's reboot to recovery option. Song if things don't work while Installation in will have to use odin only to reflash ddjg4. Something in have never done.
Song in was thinking of following sequence titanium backup - clockmod backup- odin reflash ddjg4 - install oneclick root - install oneclick lagfix / cflagfix - titanium restore.
If things break while installation of lagfix like in have seen phone not rebooting for many after installation of fix, then abort and reflash ddjg4 again.
Plz send in your comments. Any better way to do this. You can also say dont be so scared as you might have guessed i am sh$%the scared to do this and gathering my guts right now.

Do you have the 3 button mode working?
I'm gonna look through some other threads also of course. However, I'm leaving for a camping trip tomorrow so anything quick you all can recommend I would appreciate it. I have some experience with android from rooting my nook and getting CM7 on it. I also don't want to get in "trouble" with Verizon so only suggest "approved" tips etc. Thanks!
Ok trying to get Kies to work but its not connecting. Saying something about a PC Studio mode that I don't see anywhere.
Kies is a disgrace (((

So what procedure would you recommend to get the latest approved firmware update installed. (Step by step please, I'm an idiot).
Kies is the usual way to get the official firmware for your phone, so you'd probably need to troubleshoot your pc/figure out how to get it to work. There are a couple of threads around on getting kies to work, eg http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=758212
Alternatively, you can note down your firmware (dial *#1234#), which should be the correct official firmware for your region. Then have fun flashing whatever custom/'unapproved' ones you want. If you ever need to bring back your phone to the service center, flash the original one you had, and they won't know anything
Verizon fascinate just got froyo today. Maybe you should hit the fascinate forum for more information about your device. Good luck and enjoy.

Anyone know if this might cause any problems if I want to root later on? (total n00b question, I know).
I heard somewhere that there was an issue with rooting even after installing the very first update most of us were offered when we turned the phone on

I'm pretty sure that updating the firmware shouldn't affect the ability to root.

if you put anything KL* on the phone you wont be able to use the root methods given in the dev section if you use the OTA updates
you need to flash via mobile opdin and keep root if you want to upgrade and keep root at the same time, providing you have root
peace and happiness to all of you for the year ahead.
Does anyone know what's the situation on getting back the functionality of Checkfus and/or the Web interface for firmware updates on Samfirmware?

well, they both use the same source server for getting the firmwares. (i wrote ....and/or.....)
However, your counter question did not give me an answer to my question.
I am not sure they do. Checkfuss uses Samsung public sources and samfirmware has additional eaks channels.
Checkfuss has a updated message on site explaining he will only add the new stuff and rest go to sammobile.
I think checkfuss never checked samfirmware, so bringing back that functionality, your original Q, is then not valid, as the functionality wasnt there. Hence my response different sources.
Maybe I didnt understand you correctly, appologies in advance
No apologies necessary. Just rephrase my question. I was asking ...how to get back the functionality .....means: Checkfus is not longer giving information on new firmware. on the Web site of samfirmware is a query option (you put in your data and the website gives back the latest firmware version).
At the moment both is not working. Means: Checkfus gives back the answer: "no firmware information available" and.... Exactly the same message comes back if you use the query option on Sam firmware website. Hope this makes it clear.
This also implies the Checkfus is not longer able to download firmware from Samsung.

Hello!
Let me just say I have been long overdue with registering here. I have been looking for help threads here for about 6 months on my Galaxy S3 phone and other questions. Awesome forum and really loving it.
And also, if this question is somehow "overdone" (I can see it being a question at a regular basis) OR posted in the wrong forum. Then sorry! I am however very thankful for a reply to it, and if this thread needs to be moved then go ahead. (And if it needs to be taken down, I would be very thankful for a reply)
I installed a custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy S3 i9305N a while back. First I used clockworkmod to fix a loader, rooted and all that stuff. Then I installed the only Cyanogenmod I could find. (It wasn't an officially supported one at the time, I have no idea how that rom is doing now however)
I then reformatted everything to the original loader and rom. It looks mostly the same as it did before, but with some new features.
However, I need to send the phone to repair. The battery is defect and the charger seems to drain its battery.
A phone support guy that I know, told me that it is possible to see a "history" on all the roms and roots and etc, that has been done to the phone. In order to make sure that nobody reloads the warranty Rom and sends it off to repair. Is this true?
If so, how can I fix this? Is there any way to just reboot the phones so called history? Or did he just tell me this to scare me off?
Is there any way I can test my Samsung if it is eligable for warranty, without sending it off to their repair? (And do they check all phones for custom roms?)
Thanks for any help! Sorry for the LONG thread.
I am not that good with computers and programming. Could be worth mentionning! I managed to load the rom through tutorials, that's it. =P

Thank you very very much!
In fact, thanks to all good replies. The triangle thing was what I was looking for! I am a total rookie but I feel as though I learned quite a lot. Perhaps I should root my new phone now. "Haha".
No but, I actually got one question.
How do I know if it really is my official rom? I read somewhere, that every telephone-operator has their own Rom. So just picking one of the Roms might not work?
How do I know if the source is correct? I'm a bit concerned that I might format the phone, send it in, and they notice that I flashed with the wrong Stock Rom.
I have a Galaxy S3 i9305N with the operator Tele2 in Sweden. Sammobile.com has 3 stock Roms available (One only for members though) Which one is correct? Or does it not matter?
Thanks for any help again.
Many apologies if I am a bad googler. This is one of my first issues I have never been able to Google my way out of ;P
EDIT:
GT-I9305N Sweden 2013 March I9305NXXBMC2 I9305NCOVBMC2
GT-I9305N Nordic countries 2013 January 4.1.2 I9305NXXBMA2 I9305NNEEBMA2
GT-I9305N Sweden 2012 September 4.1.1 I9305NXXALIA I9305NCOVALI7
Those three are my result. How do I know which one I should go with?
EDIT2:
I was looking around a bit. I think the right one would be 2013 March (Top) right? Thing is, I find another one through a Swedish forum with a thread just like this one.. and it puzzles me what to pick. Does it matter at all? I used the one from the Swedish thread a while back, and I noticed it differed a bit from the Rom I had on the phone from purchase... Is it best to go with one from Sammobile? (And if so, which one.. )
Okay my friend! I checked it out...
On http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9305N are only 3 firmwares for the I9305N
BMC2 is for Sweden and 4.2.1
BMA2 is for Finland and also 4.2.1 but
ALIA is for Sweden an 4.1.1!
Now is the question with which firmware your phone was coming?
I guess, my friend, I don't know the answer... you could try each firmware...
I'm sorry, I really don't know!
