[Q] Team hacksung ics build - Google apps not installing!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got teamhacksungs ics build 16 on my sgs i9000, but after coming from an earlier build and doing a factory reset it wont let me install google apps on my phone. Ive tried flashing multiple different google app versions through recovery and even downloading and installing it straight from rom manager but it starts off installing it and then aborts. Ive even tried installing the market apk on my phone with no luck as it just crashes every time i open the market app.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Here´s what worked for me:
1. Install the ROM again.
2. Make a full wipe including cache and dalvik.
3. Boot normally.
4. Restart into recovery Mode.
5. Choose the Gapps V7.1. and install it.
6. Do a full wipe again.
Maybe this will help.

[Q] Rom Manager Will Not Run

I deleted my Rom Manager in an attempt to refresh and install the pro version. I did this by using the force uninstall from TB, which actually did not remove it, but then I did remove it normaly via the TB remove app feature (not force uninstal). Now when I try install the rom, it will not load. I do not get any errors when I try to install it. It is just is not there / cant be seen by any app or in a directory. Any suggestions on how to fix this??? Are there any alternative apps???
Just fyi - I am also unable to install the latest CM7 version. It gets to the CM7 boot screen, but hangs on it ofr more than an hour with no progress. Just fro clarification, I have since reloaded the latest CM6 version, to see if Rom Manager would install, but it still wouldn't.
Current phone is a Sprint Hero, running the latest CM6 Version.
when you reloaded CM6, did you restore a backup or did you wipe everything and reload a fresh image?
I had a problem using ROM Mgr when I tried to flash the recovery. Ended up it wouldn't boot into recovery and after that it wouldn't flash the recovery anymore. I was able to flash the alternate ra recovery, wipe factory data/cache & davlik cache, reload clean CM6.1 with latest gapps. Still the ROM Mgr was goofy. I used the fix permissions tool in ROM Mgr and it finally allowed me to flash the CWM recovery (2.5.0.7) successfully and reboot into recovery mode. Maybe the fix permissions or making sure everything (besides your SD card) is wiped would help? Or, try using the ra recovery to load your CM7 image (not sure if that is supported).

You need to do a full wipe of absolutely everything and then update your recovery image. Do a fresh download(try from a mirror) of the latest CM7 version. Make sure that everything is fully wiped and you wipe your system, cache, data and davlik-cache. Do the wipe TWICE.
Once you are flashing CM7, make sure you only flash the rom first and then boot up and see if it goes through.
Thanks for the info, Waffle_.. So to just clarify... I need to:
1. wipe everything twice
2. get a fresh download of cm7
3. then install cm7
What do you mean by "Once you are flashing CM7, make sure you only flash the rom first" -- Like make sure it boots up before installing anything else????
Thanks!

Yes.
Meaning, when you flash the rom, don't flash gapps or anything else. Flash the rom only, then reboot and make sure it runs. And then you can go back and flash gapps, etc.

[Q] Status 7 error on installing CM 10.1

Hi fellows,
I need your guidance and expert advice in resolving a situation, I have ran into recently. I was trying to install CM10.1 on my brother's galaxy Note GT-N7000 international version which was running official ICS 4.0.4.
Since, I had experience in installing different ROMs on my Galaxy S2, Nexus 7 and Xperia Arc so I was not worried about it being a big deal. So, I followed the procedure described in this page http://techgoneinsane.blogspot.com/2012/08/installing-cm10-on-galaxy-note-n7000.html?m=1 and used Odin and file from 'speedmod' to gain root access and flash CWM which was successful. Then, as planned, I tried update zip in the CWM recovery for CM10.1 nightly. But, I came across error 'Status 7' installation aborted. This was new to me, so I tried few things like 'factory reset', wipe data etc and even tried installing stock ROM ICS XXLRK which was previously installed but no avail. I tried several other ROMs like stable CM9 and other nightlies but no success. The phone is stuck on the boot Samsung logo with yellow triangle. However, I'm able to go in the recovery and download mode.
Upon doing couple of Google searches, I came to know, quite a number of people have faced this error by I couldn't understand the fix properly so can anyone of you please guide me for the solution. Thanks.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are on Speedmod's recovery (which is safe), you can try this:
1) Download the latest CM10.1 kernel and save it to your SD card.
2) Flash it in Recovery (Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard), then reboot in the new Recovery (advanced > reboot recovery).
3) Do a full wipe (even format preload and system in "mounts")
3) Flash the latest CM10.1 build
4) Flash the 4.2.2 Gapps
5) Do a data wipe / factory reset
6) Reboot
You got a yellow triangle because you flashed an unofficial kernel through Odin. To get rid of it, use TriangleAway.
Good luck!

You're welcome. Glad I could help . If you feel like it, hit the Thanks button on Chasmodo's first message in the repository (where you downloaded your CM10.1 kernel). He really deserves it. You may also want to do the same on Entropy's first post in the unofficial CM10.1 thread :good: That way, you'll show your support and appreciation .

[Q] Help on CM 12.1

Today, I installed CM12.1 of luk's build 09/04/15..... I was happy that the ROM booted at least.... But when I flashed gapps as given in the link of the cm12s thread, Google play services force closes constantly .... Also when I installed titanium backup via apk, it says the device is not rooted. On my old device, cyanogen came pre rooted, when the hell it became like this... Plz help, and don't get angry its my first flashing of rom thanks in advanced.
Try this gapps package
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934550851
To enable root go you need to go to about phone and click on build number seven times which will make you a developer. Go back and to the developers options and scroll down until u find root access and enable it
I flashed the same zip... It fcs constantly
Try wiping dalvik cache/cache
If that doesn't work consider a clean reinstall

Problem getting Gapps

First off, I'm new here despite having visited this site many times before. Glad to be here!
So, I recently flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 to my Moto G (xt1045). It's worked well so far but my only issue is that I can't seem to get Gapps on my phone no matter how many times or ways I've tried. I've wiped the Dalvik cache, done a factory reset, adb side loading...pretty much everything, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Does the developer recommend any gapps? Did you try these: http://opengapps.org/ ?
Flash through TWRP,in the upcoming menu you can chose which apps you´d like to have, which ones should be replaced etc. Wipe Cache/dalvik afterwards.
If you try to flash gapps what happens? Any error message? Just nothing?
Yes, the CyanogenMod site provided several links which I tried originally tried, and I also used your links but with no success. When the phone reboots, right after I swipe the lockscreen to unlock, I get a message that says "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped working.". Sometimes it reappears several more times after I tap 'ok'.
I tried flashing Gapps using my first recovery which is CWM. When none of that worked I flashed TWRP, then restarted the whole process and still nothing. Does it make a difference that CWM was there first? Also, in TWRP I see no option for choosing which Gapps to be installed.
Normally you put the zip file with the Gapps on your SD card and when you push the "install"button in TWRP just scroll down until you find the zip and use the slider to flash them.
I don´t know your rom but often the procedure is to to factory reset and wipe the phone(Dalvik, Data, Cache and System), then flash the rom, wipe dalvik/cache and then let the phone boot one time. Skip all the steps in the setup process until you get to the homescreen, then reboot the phone into recovery again and flash the gapps. After that wipe cache/dalvik again and let the phone boot.
If you flash the gapps directly after the rom without rebooting there can be issues between sytem apps of the rom like for example playstore and playservices and the flashed Gapps.
Cool, I'll try that. I read somewhere to start with a clean slate ROM so I'm downloading CyanogenMod again. When it finishes I'll do what you suggested and report back.
