So heres the deal...
Galaxy Note running RocketRom v22
AbyssNote 4.2 kernel
whenever i try to overclock to anything above 1500 and do a benchmark of it the phone stalls and eventually restarts... tried different voltage settings , tried setcpu , antutu cpu master pro , quadrant , antutu benchmark... no matter what my overclock crashes... anyone can help ?

Did you also raise the voltage SLOWLY and appropriately? If you did then you are tough out of luck. When it comes to overclocking, it also depends on the luck of the draw that you get
I am in the same boat. Before I upgraded to the newest abyss kernal I could get 1600 on stock voltages but now I can't get past 1500.
I think that just might be the highest that your phone and my phone can go on this kernal!
i tried undervoltage too =/ so maybe i just got one of the unlucky devices ?
A bit off topic.
I am on Midnote ICS and was appalled to see that the max CPU speed is limited to 1200 megs any idea why? Also Antutu Master CPU pro keeps on force shutting down the phone. Kindly help.
anilisanil have you tried Setcpu ?

because its ICS, the kernal is limited to 1200
So anyone else tried overclocking and had same problems as me?

I am using Setcpu on my motorola droid with rooted FRG22. Why wont it let me overclock it higher than 800mhz??? I'm kinda new to doing this and wondering if I'm doing anything wrong. Thank you
[A] Overclock answer
Yes you have SetCPU and your phone is rooted. However, you're missing one more piece to the puzzle. In order for you to clock over 800Hz you have to install a kernal cooresponding to the voltage and what you want to overclock it to. I recommend you googling(haha) p3designs and choose a kernal you want to try. Instructions are on the site as to how to install. I currently have a low voltage of 125Mhz overclocked at 1Ghz. Hope that helps
Question for you Stephen, with you running 1.2Ghz on your droid, has there been any istances of freezing thus far? I was tempted to go higher, though I stuck with 1Ghz to be safe.

The right approach to overclocking is not how fast can you go, but how low can you tolerate? Most Droids are stable to 1.2 ghz. Some can go higher, some can't. I'm running the "stock" 1ghz kernel that comes with Sapphire rom. However, I have it choked back to 800mhz. This gives me 36 hours of battery life on light-moderate use, (3G off, wifi on) but also lag-free performance.
This is chevys 1.25 medium voltage, only reboots were with watching movies online.

The links for the kernals over at p3designs don't seem to be working for me. Does anyone have some overclocking kernels they could post?

I understand what you mean. I've done the trial between 800Mhz and 1Ghz. I have emulators now and I liked the performance on the 1Ghz more because of the speed, so I kept it on 1Ghz. I haven't had any battery drainage issue and all. I liked my low voltage 1Ghz kernal.

Is this the site you tried accessing the kernals? I did a test and downloaded the kernal zip fine.
That does sound impressive. I'm curious to try that out even more so now.
JVP based rom - Darky's JVP 10.1 - 2.3.4
Kernel is DarkCore 2.7.3
Tibzed's RAM Hack
Tegrak OVERCLOCKED to 1.3 MHZ
Lagfix (ENABLED) ext 4
Why can I never get over 1000 in Quadrant ?
I know quadrant scores mean nothing -- but seriously I am getting 800-900 consistently and I'm not sure why
Mind you I DO have TONS of apps on my phone (like 200) --- is this an issue ?
Can anyone tell me why people on Froyo are getting higher Quadrants than me ? I even have mine over clocked and I rarely get over 900.
Don't know about the score, but it could be because you are mixing and not matching kernels to ROM-versions? Because as far as I know, Darky v.10.1 is NOT JVP, it's JVH. But DarkCore 2.7.3 is a JVP kernel...

I am on F1 S2 V4 and galaxian kernel. Other users are reporting having 2700+ quadrant score. But I have tested numerous of times, reflash kernel (one using kernel flasher another with odin), both yield 16xx-18xx...
I wonder what's wrong T.T
I'm not sure how did you get so high score with 1.3 MHZ (0.0013 ghz). And for the low score problem uninstall quadrant and forget it. I don't understand why people are so obsessed with quadrant.

Well it's not 10.1 then my bad
it's ficeto's JVP base rom

The kernel matches this rom - there is nothing out of the ordinary.
800-900 quadrant score? wtf?

I must say my phone has never run as fast or smooth or as good as it is now. I have never had such a good battery either. I took a bath and put my phone on speaker/music for 35 mins -- it went from 90% to 89%
It's never ran so fast, but my quardrant score has never been so low.
So strange.

Since installing the RAM hack not only has my battery life been amazing and phone faster, but my launcher doesn't close as it used to do every 10 secs. Would a RAM hack so small and simple REALLY knock off 2000 on a Quadrant score ? I doubt it.

Yes it might ... it may be smooth in reality but the tweaks applied may also hinder the quadrant test..

Hi
I have a note N7000. The score on antutu best i had is 3200. In their chart the note has amlost 2 times the score. Is it something wrong with my phone?
Cpu spy says the phone never used 1400Mhz frequency. (the max freq was 1200)
any ideas?
Try to install setCPU to see if you are set to 1200Mhz max. I run CPU spy and it said my note use 1400mhz for 33%
no limit detected. i am also using juice defender.
after forcing to stay on 1400 i did a test and got 5536 ... which is closer to the real tests
so i am assuming that it stays on low power

Next time.. Use cpu spy or voltage control... Set your governor to performance and then check antutu and benchmarks.. Thats how most of them does it... The note obvoiusly wont keep staying on 1400mhz, or u will lose battery.. Afterchecking your score, you an change back to your desired governor..

You are using Power Saving mode .. Go to settings >power settings and then uncheck all the options
I have a Samsung S phone.
I am running Cyanogen Mod-7.1.0-NS and Trinity Kernel 1.44Ghz OC version: [email protected]untu #4
The phone freezes at least once a day and the only way to get it back to life is to take out the battery.
Can someone tell me what is causing it and whether I should get a different kernel or ROM on this phone?
Is there a better Kernel to go with this ROM?
Please help!
you know what , i think it is due to the kernel cause as you said it is 1.44 Ghz while the default is 1000 only !!!!!!!!
Should I change the settings back to 1000 then?
OMG yes... why are you even using it overclocked? It's just slowly destroying your phone and drains your battery.
I also think that the freeze is due to excessive overclocking... I would suggest the default 1000 but if you really wanna overclock.. take it to max 1200 .. and if you really wanna overclock to 1400 then do some undervolting too
the oc will only gives you better shoes in bench mark your phone can run very smoothly with oc also.

You really shouldn't be overclocking if you haven't done your research and understood what you are doing and its consequences.there is loads of information out there, search. Ask yourself this....will I be upset if I fry my phone?
Sent from the gutter, gazing at the stars
I think you should move to another rom and overclock to maximum 1200 if you desperatly want to overclock, but to be onest...it doesn't help you at all
Hey, i think i have a big problem.
Im using a new ROM (this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2622069) and i changed my Max CPU freq to 729Mhz and Min freq. to 122Mhz using ONDEMAND. So i decided to run a benchmark test using Quadrant Standard Edition and i got around 800 points i was kinda shocked because i saw many screenshots from other Mini Users with 2000+ points using an old ROM in this post -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437030.
I dont know what i have done to get so low score, i only have facebook and skype installed and greenify. I think my phone is faster then before but with this Benchmark Score i think my phone is in a pretty bad condition
Any suggestion?

Well, what you're running is a Jelly Bean, which is NOT officially supported by Galaxy Mini's hardware.
Also, if you think your phone is already fast, then DON'T believe benchmark. I never choose benchmark for testing phone's smoothness, instead I use the ROM around 1 week, then see how does it responds. If it's faster, then I would say the ROM is good.
