hmm. i know on my laptop i had huge issues different cables different.. ports wiped phone went to stock etc.. at that point restore my computer to "stock" and that was the problem best of luck...
My laptop does not recognize the Bionic. The drivers installed fine. I even installed the previous version of the driver still no go; the driver did find the newer version and ask me to start an update.
I also have an older tower running XP and it does find the Bionic. However, this tower is so outdated that other problems occur, so using it is not an option.
Thanks ill keep playing with it till it works

Did you try downloading the drivers from Motorola instead of letting your PC find them?
If you're running 32 bit windows - http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver/
64 bit: http://developer.motorola.com/docstools/USB_Drivers/Handset_USB_Driver_64/
Yeah comes up with the same window during installation, can not locate %PUBLIC%\Desktop\,

I tried a different laptop but the same model number running Vista instead of Win7. No happiness here. My drivers downloaded fine, but the PC does not recognize the Bionic.
Nothing shows up in the device manager.
As I said before my old Dell using XP does recognize the phone.
motorola drivers
having same problem with moto drivers in windows 7 computer. downloaded drivers from moto 64bit & the computer said I already had them installed but in devices I have the "!" mark on the mot driver. can't re-root without these.

OK, I'm trying to flash from CM7. I've installed the Android SDK with Nexus S usb drivers. I can get into download mode, that's not the issue. The issue is that the computer will recognize a mass storage device and an Android Composite ADB interface (my phone) however, it will also say UNRECOGNIZED device. I've read thread after thread on here and have followed all the different suggestions and I've tried all different USB ports on my computer. The only thing I haven't tried is a different cable. ODIN will not recognize my phone no matter if it's 1click or not. I even tried installing ubuntu on my computer and when I chose to boot that instead of windows, it gave me all sorts of errors and wouldn't go any farther. suppose I need a dedicated linux machine. anyway. I'm at my wits end trying to get rid of CM7. can it really be this damn difficult to flash over it?? I really don't know what else to do besides a different cable, but I don't really see how that would be the problem, considering when I have no drivers installed, windows recognizes my phone as a captivate and wants to install the captivate drivers......even though I've already installed them?? my phone ends up showing up as the Android Composite ADB Interface, which I mentioned earlier. Can someone please for the love of God freakin' help me get this off my phone? I am still have very horrible battery life and it is too buggy still for me to use it everyday. I would appreciate any response I get. YES, I know I've posted with this problem before, that thread went no where and actually got deleted. but OK.
Try using a different computer, preferably with a different OS(win 7 instead of XP, etc).
What kind of error when installing Ubuntu? Only error I had using wubi installer was windows-no disc (just keep clicking continue until the install wizard pops up)
After installing ubuntu it wanted to reboot. So I did. I chose to boot into ubuntu it flashed some errors real quick with no time to read then rebooted. Did this several times. Don't know what the problem is. I will have to search for access to a win 7 machine. Seriously though I'm ready to smash my phone. This should not be this hard.

I just installed windows 8 Consumer preview. I had my Galaxy note working before with the USB connection on windows 7, but now after windows 8 is installed over 7 I have a problem connecting my Galaxy note with the computer. It seems that it is an MTP problem or something went wrong after windows eight is installed. I have read on a Microsoft MSDN post that the mtp protocol is not yet supported with windows 8. If there is something that I can use to work around that It would be appreciated. Please help.

Try installing Droid Explorer on your PC.
All of us on ICS Roms have the same USB connection problem, and this little program is the solution. It recognizes our Notes automagically without Windoze drivers.
Don't know if it'll work for you, but it's worth a try.
I will do that. But would it make a difference if I still have GB on my note? Thanks
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
I had this problem as well, easiest solution is to put the Note in USB Debugging mode, and it will connect with Windows 8 fine.
You can find USB Debugging mode in Settings -->Applications --> Development.
weird, I have a similar problem : I want to install CWM, but "adb devices" doesn't see any devices....I have "USB debugging" checked, I tried to install samsung drivers, Droid explorer, Kies won't install, and it is not recognizes as a device by Windows. Strange thing is, if I remember correctly, I successfully flashed a stock firmware using PC Odin. Any ideas ?
Windows 8 Desktop, ICS Note. Everything's working fine here. Haven't had to install anything on either end to get it to work.
I do have USB debugging enabled though, as suggested above.
i am having the same problem. at 1st win8 detects it and i always charge on it but lately i noticed it does not detect. i went to my home pc win 7 64bit which is detecting before but now i did not detect also. i did everything kies. driver of droid but still the same problem. Weird yet still it charges.

It worked a few times after that when I installed the google driver but now I have the same problem with both windows 7 ultimate 64bits and windows 8 release preview. It is charging but not detected. I also tried different cables with no progress. I sudpect it could be that one of the pins of the note connector is not OK. Can anyone help please

I am trying to get adb setup so i can attempt to deodex and do some themeing but i cant figure it out.
I am on windows xp 32 bit. (Yes i know but my laptop with windows 7 burnt out).
I have the current moto drivers installed. I have tried the method for setting it up thats out for the razr.
I finally got the device to show as "android composite device" , but everytime i plug up the phone it wants to re-install the android driver...over and over again.
It is probably something simple i am skipping. Any help is appreciated.
Would it be easier if i burn an ubuntu disk and work off of that? Not familiar with linux but i am willing to try anything.

This is the method i have used so far. I have tried everything but the fastboot option.

Once you get deodexed, please post. I'm trying to do a little themeing for my wife's Droid 4. It's a lot different coming from a HTC Thunderbolt.
Deodexing has been frustrating to say it kindly. If or when I get it done I will certainly post it.

Hey Gang!
Ok, Here's the problem, No matter which rom I run, I cannot get the ADB Drivers to load on windows 8 PRO. Used to run just fine on Win7 SP1, matter of fact it would install itself as soon as I plugged in the phone along with all the other Samsung usb drivers, now all i get is something called "Samsung File-CD Gadget USB Device" and it doesn't even install it as a phone. Any Ideas?
There have been issues from mobile driver to odin & now up to your post on win8. Donno what's the problem but it seems that what worked on win7 flawlessly for phones doesn't seem to be working equally well on win8. I haven't been able to find the solution too. Tough luck, use win7 itself. Can't help . Hope some one does...

I don't know how much this comes up but, my one can't use adb. I've gotten the required drivers and usb debugging checked on. Still says device not found. I've tried changing cables, computers and resetting my phone and no dice. I'm kinda at a loss on what to do. I'm running the 4.3 original sprint.

My pc at home works just fine...my work pc on the other hand has this same issue. Home pc is 32 bit, work pc is 64 bit. It's either something driver related or because it's 64 bit, I haven't had a chance to really diagnose yet. I would start by completely removing htc drivers and try again. Or maybe try a different pc if no luck getting it to work. This weekend I will try to get it working on my work pc and report back what I figured out.
That's the weird thing about it. I've reinstalled drivers, put it on different computers, x64 bit included and nothing works it just says device not

From what I can find about the "Offline" status is that you need to update your Android-Sdk there have been quite a few updates recently.
Also try this for configuring your drivers correctly
(If you are using Windows 8.1 this will most likely not work)
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
That's the thing my old sdk was working fine that's the thing I have the drivers updated ok. It recognized my device but it shows my phone to be offline.

When I went to Device Manager, my HTC One showed up as MTP USB Device instead of ADB. Could you shine a little light on it for me? This is my first time trying to unlock and root my device. What software/driver I would need? So far I only have the HTC Driver installed.
Thank you

Uninstall everything HTC
Unplug your phone
Reboot your PC
Install these drivers
Plug in phone and let it install the drivers(it will install drivers in recovery, bootloader, and booted to your OS)
Then do the steps I posted if you still have problems.
I followed what you did, and followed the instruction you posted earlier as well. I went to Driver tab and tried to update the drive and there wasn't an option for ADB USB Devices. I unchecked the recommended box and still came up with nothing :/ Is there anything else I need to install?
Sorry to bother you again

That is the way I always fix driver issues. I'm kinda out of ideas. I'm usually fixing someones phone remotely so without being able to see your PC I can't offer any other advice.
BTW do you happen to be using Windows 8.1?

I had to update the SDK and the computer was able to recognize my HTC One. Not sure if you have encounter this before...
I unlocked my phone, install TWRP 2.500 with Toolkit v3.1. And when I went into the recovery, the touch screen won't work. I did some research and it seems I need to install new version of TWRP. However, I'm not sure how to install it without using the toolkit... and most people talked about GooManager... but my device isn't rooted yet... I was gonna root it using TWRP but the touch screen wouldn't work. So I'm stuck :/

Get v2.6.3.0 from here and put it in the toolkit folder where the other version of twrp is located and remove 2.5.0.0 then try again
