Need help from an ATT rep porting a number - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

These reps are like super not helpful with something as simple as porting a number, if anyone works at ATT and browses this forum please lemme, I could use some help from someone intelligent...

I'm not an ATT rep just trying to give some advice but:
If no one responds try the ATT forums, I often see replies by reps, and if you want to stay on Xda try the ATT gnote forum, I feel like there might be more reps over there since they can get it from ATT now.

TP2 T-Mobile --- Use on ATT?

Damn, wrong forum. This should have gone in the general discussion forum. I'm really not sure why it's here, I must have been looking at two pages. Sorry.
A buddy has offered to sell me his TP2. He's on T-mobile, I'm on ATT. If he gets the unlock code, can I just pop in my ATT sim and start using it or do I need to do something else?
Also, once I get to know the phone I'll probably want to install one of the custom ROMs; are there problems with doing this?
Thanks in advance. Yes, I searched the forums. I have been active on the ATT TP forum, so I'm going to be new here! Hope this forum is as friendly as that one is!

yes put your sim card in and it will work, and no there is not any problems with flashing custom roms you just have to read the guides before you do anything, mostly if its your first time, first you have to HardSPL the fone if not done already, there is a guide for that, and then you should task29 the fone then flash xD also you can flash a radio, look through these forums and you will fine how to complete these, good luck!
Thank You!
Thank you! That's what I wanted to hear! I'm getting the phone tomorrow, so I look forward to checking this forum out more thoroughly!
The only other thing you may want to take note of is that you will not be able to access AT&T's 3G network on the T-Mobile Touch Pro2. The hardware radio does not support their 3G network. EDGE and GPRS will work fine, however.

To keep the forum cleaner, and to point you to the relevant information sources, so you know a good place to start digging (and there is LOTS of info). What will you do from there is up to you.
The Wiki, section "root", will answer most if not all of your questions.

If you are planning on using it on AT&T, you will never get anything better than edge speeds due to carrier specific hardware. If you are going to buy an N1, I would suggest you buy the one that has the AT&T 3G bands.

Finally, release date for Tmobile Note 7/11

Hey guys. New leak just came out. Think this is as close to the official date as it gets. I can't wait. What do you think http://www.tmonews.com/2012/05/upco...galaxy-note-and-huawei-based-mytouch-devices/

This was posted by someone else on this same general forum about 5 days ago. A second post is always good incase people didn't see it the first time. There are some real assholes on our threads that complain about everything so don't let it get to you when you get a flood of people being rude about you making this post. Just ignore it!
are there plans to release it to any other carriers than tmobile? just curious....

I don't think so. I think this is gonna continue being a GSM only device. Other carriers may get it around the world but I doubt Sprint and Verizon will ever get it. There was a rumor in Jan that VZW & Sprint were getting it under the name Journal but that has since been proven to be the codename of a different device.
Thanks
Good info
Omg double posts lol just kidding its a good read no matter how many times we see it thank u

The question is will it be the same hardware as the At&T version or the international version? The pictures indicate that more than likely it will be the same at the AT&T but why would T-Mo phone have a LTE modem? It would be great if it had the same specs as the international. Just my .02 cents.

quick question

The reason the AT&T section is a ghost town is because everything on this forum works with the At&T phone.
The AT&T forum has no reason to exist.

I know I am new here and have been asking a question for a couple of days now and I would think with this many members at least someone would step up to the plate an offer some help or tell me where to go for being a newbie. Come on now I sure could use some help here. Please?
It would be a lot more productive if you actually posted what you needed help with...

Thanks for the reply. I have for the past 2 days in a row. I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 mini SM-G730A with a locked bootloader that I need to figure out how to get unlocked so I can change carrier on. I love the phone and want to keep it but my patience has all but worn thin on. I have tried just about everything I can find out on the internet on and nothing has worked so far.

If you searched through some of the threads regarding the SM--G730A you would've learned that it's bootloader is not unlocked yet, and there exists no way to unlock it as of yet. I don't think any active developers have that phone either, and to my knowledge only a recovery has been built for the phone (but you can't flash it because of the locked bootloader), only root has been achieved for your phone.
The phone you have isn't the S3 Mini here (the S3 mini here is the GT-I8190), Samsung's naming conventions are really stupid at times - your phone and the GT-I8190 have nothing in common outside of it's name. I think the GT-I8190 was marketed heavily overseas in Europe and such, whereas your model's only available in the States and Canada.
Thanks for the reply

Just a tip - search through xda to see if there's any active development on your phone, it'll save you a crapload of trouble, and I'd also avoid verizon and at&t phones in general because of their tendency to lock boot-loaders, I notice the google play edition of phones and the t-mobile versions tend to have unlocked boot-loaders and have better support.
Oh and google's dropped the price on the Nexus 5, about $320 usd for the 16gb, if you're interested and have the money.
Thanks Again

i personally see no point in helping some one who posts a thread like this
such a spoiled selfish approach demanding the community to reply to a thread
same goes for any thread posted about if this phone is worth buying
