NL G1 - Wierd unable to Root

Hiya guys,
I've got a NL G1 since 2 months but I really want to root my G1.
Here are the specs:
Model number: T-Mobile G1
Firmware Version: 1.5
Baseband Version: 65.505.20.17U_2.22.19.261
kernal version: 2.6.27-00393-g6607056 [email protected]#1
Build number: CRC1
I've gone over every possible way to Root a G1 but all fail.
If I want to downgrade my G1 to any RC 29/30/33/8/7.
None worked.
I've tried via various other ways, via update.zip (fond some way on the internet phandroid.com I believe)
I either get an not allowed message with the image (DREAIMG.nbh), or I get an error that the verfication fail while i try to do an update.zip.
If somebody can help me with this. I've flash countless PDA's, PSP's, MDA's but the G1 is not working for me.

sounds like you have a continental European device correct?
If you do, you have a follow a separate guide that requires the use of a goldcard, its still rootable, you just need to do some searching. I won't baby you on how to find it since I've listed keywords that you could use to find it, but if you have problems within the guide, this is the place to ask and look first.
You might just want to search this forum first because another person had the same problem and it was solved, but if you can't search for those above terms in the developer's forum, i'm sure something'll turn up. ;P

yeah I indeed have a cointinantel G1,
And I don't want to use QMAT cause I need to pay, I've paid enough for the G1
Maybe, If its the only solution. A mate of mine got a rooted G1 I'll see him tonight to see if he can Root it for me.
I'll let you know how if he get;s it rooted

My mate tried yesterday every way execpt QMAT so its clear, so far it's the only way for Continantel G1
The dutch guide is ok. thnQ
But I'm going for QMAT with a WM device that's rooted my collegaue should be in any moment so I'll borrow his phone.

I rooted my G1 with Help from all of XDA THNQ SO F*CKING MUCH
I used my terminal Emulater to get my CID (works perfect) then with the free Goldcard emailer i used HxH Hex Editor to edit my SD card.
Voila I could Image to RC7, got ROOT and Flashed it
i did had an issue when I put an a JFC ROM but then a did's dudes 1.3 r2 and is working like a chram.
The only thing I can't get to work is the auto rotate wich is possible after root.

Need Help On Flashing To Hero ROMS!

I wan to flash my T-mobile G1 Stock Rom to the HERO Rom
But the problem is i cant get access to bootloader even i try pressing the back
The HTC tricolor keep showing the Serial0 to me...
So.. bootloader wont help..
And i decided to use the recovery mode to do..
When i press alt+s
The loading bar(installing bar)moved like 1% something then stopped
I keep spamming alt+s for many time i juz cant install anything
I named my file correctly "update.zip" and also format my sd card to fat32
I try to install radio and spl in recovery mode oso hav the same problem
"juz moved abit|and stop"
I am very mad to my phone i'm gettin crazy
I follow every instuction in this thread

Is it root

... You haven't even rooted your phone... Go google that. Don't expect people to walk you through that process when its been documented at least a million gazillion times... at least

i listen to u guys and i did some rooting research
now i hav the new problem!
my installed the root.apk in my g1
but when i try to update my DREAIMG.nbh
i get fail to update
after tat my g1 wont start up anymore
everytime i startup my phone juz keep giving me a tricolor screen
non stop
i try to check did my camera button stuck, pulling out the sdcard to reboot
what else can i do more?

Well if you're talking about the rc29/rc27 you can go check out cyanogen's wiki at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod . I only hope that's what your meaning to gain root to your G1. If you need help just let me know.

You may have root access already.
To check
1) Grab the telnet application from the
2) Press home to go to the home screen
3) press the enter/return key twice
4) type telnetd
5) Press enter/return key twice again
6) open telnet
7) connect to local host port 21 and see if it will allow you to login.
If so you have root, either wise you'll need to look in to dowgrading or flashrec methods.

I had try to upgrate my ratio and my SPL too, but i don't know why, my phone don't want to install new ratio ...
It will make me crazzzzy

Yes, it does.

you can use the 1 click root. search for "flashrec.apk"

What ?! there is on application who can do evrything ?!
"flashrec.apk" Where can i found it ?
It will work for my and my "orange" Firmware ?
(I had saw the youtube video aboute flashrec.apk, but i've a probleme, i can't explor my Sd carte, or my phone. there is not application for that in my phone )

Is it not taking the .nbh file? Did it error out? If so what was the error?

You you have the right DreaIMG.nbh file? RC7 is Europe RC29 is US.

I tried both, still nothing. I get the same message not alow

Where did your device originally come from? The error is related to the nbh file not being compatible. You can Google for this and find lots of discussion about that error message. If it is not US or UK it may take some special steps. There is a process involving a "gold card" that may be what you need.

I am also having this issue. it is a USA Tmo G1 with the DMD64 1.6 update. mine flashes a screen that says "no img file then gets stuck on a 3 colored screen with the radio info. any ideas?

Make sure the card is formatted fat32 and the DreaIMG.nbh is the only file on the card.

I've searched there website for this information, can you post a link to some good instructions or possibly write your own? I wanna root my new DMD64 G1 I just received.

Oh god if there wasn't a way to re-root I would be so mad... man I'm an idiot for unrooting lol. Effing 2.0 >.<

them put on it by mem card adapter or reader rc29nbh or 7 nomether what g1 wil recive evrything from goldcard
turn of your phone
put goldcard with nbh file in phone
then turn on by holding camera buton and end key until bootloader screen turns on
hit end key to start update. DO NOT INTERUPT PROCES
once it is done hit trackball to rstart phone
now you are on stock version rc29 or7
now you can root by this easy guide

my phone is stuck on the rainbow screen i take out the battery and put it back in and it automaticaly turns on and jusmps to the rainbow screen can anyone help me?

Note - I previously had installed Android 2.2 on this G1 then went back to 1.6 as it was performing ok but slowly....
Was about to try it again but had updated my firmware to DMD64 then I was getting (Not Allowed)
I'll let you know how I get on with GoldCard...

My phone runs fine but can't root it at all with the desktop program and androot 1.6 it says it roots it but then open rom manager and it tells me dont have super user permissions.

i used universal androot and it worked without the hassle of trensfering files to your sd.

Hi .Greetings.. .I had a problems,read the steps of rooting,flashing tried but none of the tries success.All errors.Had been 4 days.But this phone is different.Had been using other phone(o2 atom),no issue at all.Nearly lose my hope with this phone.

Need a little more info here... what errors, at what point do you get said errors.
Here's what I've been able to dig up
You need to create a gold card with these Instructions to get access to bootloader. After that, you just need to flash RC 7 (using DREAM.nbh). You can follow the directions here.

i 've tried rc7 & goes into bootloader.white screen stated 00028o02
not allow for few second then goes to a rainbow screen.
