Hello all,
I have recently copied 8 gigs worth of music onto my SD card. What I am seeing is that the files are magically starting to disappear, and my LOST.DIR is starting to grow.
Why is this happening only to my music files, and how do I get this to stop. I understand LOST.DIR is for files that are considered corrupt if an abrupt change in status of the SD card is detected, but why only the music files? I have photos and other files on the SD card also? Is this a pre-cursor to a bad SD card?

I have had the same issues, I tried everything under the sun but still no luck...

In speaking with some folks over at the Moto forum this might be a result of one of two reasons:
1) Your SD card is going bad??
2) Your SD card might be too fast for the D3.
I personally have a class 6 SD card that was giving me issues. I am testing with a class 2 card to determine if this is the case. I will post results.

Im using a class 10 32gb sd card. Yesterday i noticed my main camera role just dissapeared out of my gallery. I cleared the galleries data/cach, ran media scanners, rebooted like 5 times and still not there. I was able to find my sd card in file explorer so i knew it couldnt be corrupt. Then i put the sd card in my computer, and i go into the DCIM folder and my Camera folder is empty, and everything went into a new folder called "µAMERA" which contains alot of weird corrupt files with foreign lettering, and my old pics i was looking for. Da hell happened? im seriously considering going down to a normal 16gb card this class 10 is causing me problems.
it wont let me open the foreign files but i did look through my old pics and alot of them have these weird lines on them now! Heres an example
This sounds crazy but today after flashing a rom my SanDisk 32gb class 10 stopped working and crashed and erased itself...lost over 300 pictures I'm glad I backed it up on my pc earlier today wheww.
Theres a huge issue with this particular sandisk 32gb class 10 sd card. ...Everybody who had one in the AT&T note 2 section had the same issues with data getting corrupted or remounting every now and then. ..Looks like it's happening now in the note 3...
This sd card doesn't like any galaxy note's....Watch how many others will have problems with this 32gb class 10 card.

Ive got 2 sd cards one is 8gb class 2 and one is 32gb class 10 and have tried using them with my xperia sp putting music and films etc on to them
after Ive put about 4gb on them my music messes up and anything I put onto cards after do not play or songs stick and plays a diff part of another song
Ive had this problem since I had sp back in November its the same when using mounting programmes to copy games to sd cards
This problem is rather starting to P me off now could ireally have have 2 dodgy cards or is it my phone itself ?
Please Please can someone offer any advise and what sd cards you are using that are working flawlessly

Have you tried formatting the SD card (FAT32)? I too have a 32GB class 10 with 27+GB of music, but I have no problem with the files.

Yes I have cheers mate few times now even formatted to ex fat and just the same realy baffling me now lol
could it be the phone or do you think its the cards ?

I got same SD as you, but without the problems. Maybe the mounting doesn't work probably on either PC or phone, or you unmounted the SDcard wrong from the PC.
Ive noticed this, deleting files on random times..
i have a 64GB class 10 in mine ,and everything is good
Put the SDcard in your phone and select in settings > Storage > Wipe External SD.
Connect it to your computer again. Put music on it and try again. If it still deletes you need to run a HD check on your SD. Could be that the I/O is defective.
Also; put questions next time in the correct place
Not had the same issue but something very similar.
I had 2 sdcards both by sandisk one a class 10 32gig the other a 32 gig class 4.
When using folder mount app to mount games obb files after maybe 2-3wks they both started to play up not being recognised by phone but working on computer.
Got a TDK 16g class 4 BUT not using folder mount... the card is running happy with it and used for movies and music.
It seems maybe that folder mount in my case was causing the probs with the script it ran and led it to causing the cards to fail.
If you have used folder mount would suggest to stop and get another card.
I don't have any suggestions in how to solve your problem but only another option based on my findings.

Ok So I picked up a sandisk 64GB pixor external sd card, I was able to transfer files to it fine by connecting to a windows machine, sometimes. Apps like wifi transfer and airdroid failed every time to upload files to external sd card, but transferred fine to internal storage. I managed to get some music on the card, and after playing one song, the rest gave me errors.
Ok, corrupted SD card, no big deal. returned it a got another one. Sandisk "Ultra Plus" 64GB, I have yet to try a hard wire transfer on a windows machine, but so far wifi transferring is still failing. I'm beginning to think it may be a phone issue instead of a card issue.
Has anyone else had problems using wifi transfer to external SD card? Any advice would be appreciated!!
Its a KitKat issue. Some devices have fixes and patches. Might find one if you do enough digging.

I had the same issue. Download NextApp SDFix from the Play store. It makes all your access issues go away.

Hi can someone tell me if my note 4 already comes w SD card? I'm out of storage all of a sudden and not sure what or if or what kind of card to buy. Will this mame the phone faster. So slow lately.
Also, if I do buy one not sure size, brand, etc.

No, the note 4 does not come with an external SD card. It has 32gb of internal storage and if you filled that up then you will have to buy an external SD card. Just buy either a 16 or 32 or hell even a 64gb SD card....brand wise I guess San disk that's what mine is and I've never had issues with any of mine.
The Note 4 supports SD cards. You'd have to buy one that suites your needs.
On another note, have you tried clearing your cache? Checking out what is taking up all your memory? Might want to check these first.
Note for does support SD card. I have a 128gb SD card on my note 4 that works like a charm.

Samsung is known to have problem with sandisk cards. For peace of mind stay with samsung brand of sd cards. Putting card in phone wont solve your problem instantly. You will need to do some work first. Move all your pictures, videos and music to sd card to offload internal storage. Use aplication manager and move some of yours apps to sd card. Setup your canera aplication to use sd card while taking pictures. Use Smart Manager to clean unnecessary files.

I purchased a new SD card from SanDisk with 400GB.(didn't use my old one on this phone because of low storage size)
My problem is that i'm unable to copy/move/delete files to my SD card.
I can't even create a new folder.
I tried several explorers and activated the permissions for writing but no success.
I was also trying another SD card but the same problem.
If I format the card over my phone as internal storage the phone freezes, formatting as external storage is working though.
I also formatted the card on my PC but still the same issue.
Remounting the card in the settings sometimes works for a few seconds.(creating a folder,etc..)
My razer phone 2 has the newest FW with Android 9.

Heya buddy,
Just a quick enquiry, from where did you purchase your MICROSD? it sounds like you may have a fake card, the memory size is worrying indication, normally cards are sold in denominations of 32, 64, 128, 512,GB not 400 GB. Have you run a check to see if it's reporting the correct capacity size on a SD card checker. Sounds like it's a fake and when it tries to format, it goes into a loop state and crashes as the card is formatted over and over and over trying to reach the stated size but never reaches it due to it not being 400gb in size.
Sorry to spread the bad news, have had the same happen to me, I am so dam careful over which company I buy my cards from.

Phone says it has 393GB.
I bought it on amazon. Its a SanDisk Ultra 400GB that also appears on the official homepage. I'm pretty sure its not a fake.

Ok, that clears up the possibility of it being fake good good..
..hmmmmm. Do you have any old phones at your disposal that have a card slot? If so,. Try it in those and see if you can access it and read/write/modify files on it. Maybe format it with another device and then stick it in the razer and see if it works.
I'm sure now that cards a real deal as Amazon don't seem to allow frauds to be sold the only other thing I can think of is that it's a faulty card, it happens, they are just mass produced. Maybe a replacement if it's dudd.
I am having an SD card issue as well. I have had my Razer Phone 2 since last Monday brand new from Ebay. I purchased a Samsung 128GB class 10 (u3) SD card for it from Amazon. If I format the SD card as "internal", it shows that there is 131GB's of system files on my SD card. It shows I'm using 131GB's of storage from a total of 320GB's. The Razer Phone 2 has 64GB;s plus my 128GB SD card which would be 192GB;s total. I have tried many file manager apps, move to SD apps, etc and I cannot transfer any files. When I format the 128GB SD card as "portable", it shows the correct amount of storage space in both the phone and the card but once again I cannot transfer any files to the card. I have tried a 16GB SD card as well. The phone did recognize it and read the available storage on the phone and the card correctly. I did not format that card as I have music, photos and documents on it. I did try to transfer an app from my phone to the 16GB card and once again I could not do that. Any help would be appreciated. I have had similar problems with my Razer2. It ruined a 512g scandisk brand microsd card. Copying, or moving files, is a real problem for this device! It hangs up sometimes and ruins the files. Never had these issues, this bad, with any other phone
I have a bunch of music on my SD card, my music app sees some of them. If I move the whole folder to my phone storage, music app sees all. If I boot to twrp (per arters kernel) and try to backup to external SD card, it fails. If I save it to the phone, works fine. It's like it doesn't constantly see the SD card slot properly.
Exfat is needed with art kernel. Stock formats as vfat a old file system. I have a 400gb exfat formatted and works perfectly
