Try holding power and home at the same time, hold it for 15 seconds, or until the touchpad reboots.

Any idea how to fix a frozen screen?? I was moving an app from one screen to the next and it froze on that part. Now the device seems unresponsive. Holding power buttons or volume rockers does nothing.
Anyway to fix this?? Or should I just wait for the battery to die.
Thanks guys/girls

Usually Power + Vol Down or Power + Vol Up or Power + Vol Down + Vol Up
Try each of those and hold them for at least 10 seconds...should reboot.
Just hold power

Usually holding the power button for 10 seconds has the same effect as "pulling the battery" if needed.

Same thing has happened to me, twice-first when I first was going through the set up, no response until multiple reboots, was able to set up device. Again today on fully set up N7, unless i rubbed the screen repeatedly then it would change desktops and "refreeze", until multiple reboots via holding power button down, then the device finally worked ok-hopefully a driver issue.
I'm stuck at the splash screen. I can't get it to reboot, holding down the power button does nothing. I can't get into recovery. It won't show up in adb to push anything, or fastboot. What do I do?
are you holding down the power down for a good amount of time, sometimes it can take up to 30-45 seconds to hard reset.

Hold down power until the phone turns off the bottom capacitive buttons will start blinking keep holding it until you have a black screen. Then press power button and volume down keep holding both until you are in HBOOT from there go to recovery and then wipe the cache or install a new ROM

So you are saying that it's stuck at the white HTC screen and when you hold the power button down (it makes a little click and your are not letting up at all) the capacitive light don't start blinking takes about 5 seconds?
and the phone has been on for over 2 hours in this state? If it's plugged in unplug it before you hold down power.

They start blinking, but nothing happens. I just timed it, held the power button for two and a half minutes. And yeah I haven't had it plugged in except to try to connect to it with adb, which was unsuccessful. I'm waiting for it to die.

Only thing I can think of is if your power button is a bit recessed so when you try to hold it down it is getting released for a hair of a second the capacitive buttons should blink around 15 times and then the phone will restart. The screen is not flashing black or blank for an instant? Try having someone with long nails hold the power button for you if it's recessed or flush with the casing. Also try holding the power button and volume down so if the phone is restarting without your knowledge it would take you to bootloader

It's not the power button, it was working just fine and I was able to restart my phone just fine before this happened. It's something software side. I've tried to get back to bootloader as well. Doesn't work. The capacitive buttons blink an infinite number of times.

OK you are right! Just had to go through everything I could think of. Let it die. Once it does plug it into a wall not computer and let it charge for a hour. Make sure when you go to turn it on to hold volume down and it should take you to the bootloader. Or you could take it back.

Yeah, I'll just warranty it out if that doesn't work. Just frustrating. This is why I hate not having a removable battery. I don't get why the power button won't just hardware cut power from the battery like normally. Could just be my phone is actually frozen frozen.

Hi,
I tried installing carbon rom to my rooted htc one. I am stuck at boot logo and unable to hard reboot also. Using vol+ and power button flashes the home and back button, but does nothing. So, I am unable to go to recovery also. Please help :crying:
try just holding down the power button.. It might take awhile but it sometimes happens to me, and doing that shuts it down.. Around 10 seconds or more

It's not strange, its a feature to prevent you from accidentally rebooting while your phone is in your pocket or a bag, for example if something ends up pressed against the power button.

Try holding the power button for a long time (around 20 seconds) when Stuck on HTC Logo to force restart.
Or you can hold power and volume down to enter bootloader menu and factory reset (not recommended because I don't know if it will make it work again).

Hi,
My note 8's screen got damaged a month ago, but
from past two days the power button seems to be
unresponsive.
I have to press it atleast 10-15 times for my screen
to wake up.
Even if the screen doesnt turn on by a single click,
the usual touchscreen functions still work.
Ex: I can still open the particular app by clicking the screen
on the specific area.
Kindly help.

There's nothing any of us can do to help you when it's a hardware issue like this. You need to open the back of the phone using a heat gun to loosen the glue and then take the power button out and replace it with a new one.. There's nothing else that can be done and I would suggest that you not shut the phone down or let the battery die out because then you may not be able to turn it back on until you get the power button taken care of!

Hi MrMike2182,
Thanks but let me elaborate the issue.
The power button seems to be working fine because it takes approximately 10 to 15 clicks to turn on the screen (sometimes 1 or 2 click)
Let's say that I click the power button and the screen doesn't turn on, the screen functions work fine despite showing black screen.
Ex:
1. If I click on screen location where samsung music is placed and open it, and if I and click on the location of the play button, it plays the music just fine.
2. If I click on the restart button when the screen is black (not turned on), the phone does restart. The Samsung logo lits up just fine. (Mensing to say, the bootup process is not affected)
Also, note that if I successfully manage to turn on the screen after clicking the power button 10-15 times and if I put it to sleep again. I can easily turn on if I click the power button immediately (within the span of 2 seconds).
The problem persists only if the phone is kept I'd for 5 to 10 minutes.

Ok based on what you said now I don't believe there's anything wrong with your power button and when you press it and the screen doesn't turn on, in reality it actually is on and it's possibly damaged which is why you can still use the screen functions with the black screen. Whatever type of damage you say happened to it could be causing the backlight to not work but the screens touch function is fine.. Try rebooting into recovery mode and select to clear the phone's cache only and see if it helped anything.. If it doesn't help anything it's pretty much a screen hardware problem and you'll still have to get into the phone's internals..

Since the factory reset didn't work, then unfortunately it really is a hardware issue.. I think you need a new screen..
I have the official led cover case, just opening the case will turn the screen on... Just a temp fix until you can get it repaired maybe.
