I'm running Alpha 2 and can not get my PPTP vpn connection to work. I am also having troubles downloading game data for Deadspace. When you open the app it is supposed to download the game info but the connection to the server fails. Works fine on my cell on the same wireless network.
Any solutions to these network related issues? Others having similar problems?
Thank you
PPTP connections don't work. Neither does L2TP. A known problem. But OpenVPN works fine, since the tun.ko file is included.
Microsoft Lync also fails to connect. works fine on my phone.
Any official place to report issues like this?

Hi,
So far the AT&T Tilt has been kicking some serious ass. However, there has been one glitch that I'm hoping someone might know more about.
Twice now, the internet connection has stopped working through the cellular data connection. Connecting through active sync and wi-fi still works. The last time this happened I called Fido (Calgary, Canada), found out that everything was OK on their end and then tried a bunch of connection settings. Doing what they asked me to do didn't solve the problem. Then, seemingly by magic without doing anything in particular, the connection started working again and I could connect to web pages again through IE.
So it has happened again, and I can't to connect to the internet using IE (or any other application). Here is the status so far:
- tried rebooting the device
- been able to connect via wi-fi and active sync
- Installed Microsoft's Network Analyzer application which reports the following: IP address is assigned (cellular connection) and able to ping microsoft's http server (www.microsoft.com ). Note that when I disconnect my data connection the ping to microsoft fails so I believe it is actually reaching the server. There is no MAC address for the cellular network adaptor, but I don't know if this is normal or not. See the attached document which is the log file it generated.
- Tried to connect via Google Maps, Direct push (Exchange), Octro Talk. All of the applications give the same message that the page or service can't be found. It is odd that the Network Analyzer seems to be the only application that can talk to the outside world.
- Also re-ran the diable proxy cab for the Tilt
I didn't play with any of the connection settings prior to this happening so it's hard to tell what is causing the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Alan
Flash your ROM
If you are having the same trouble, I fixed my problem by flashing to an HTC ROM. Screen layout switching is faster now, my network connection is working and the system seems generaly faster. I'm using Dutty's Hybrid test final rom V4. If there is stuff about your tilt that you don't like, and you aren't actually using AT&T as your carier, then I would just ditch their ROM.

Took the plunge and migrated to rom RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship.exe today, since doing so I find I can no longer connect via a VPN profile to work over wifi, GPRS is fine. If I disable the wi-fi connection I can browse both internet and work web pages and make RDP connections to work machines.
If I try the same with wi-fi on and associated with my home network I can not connect, it does not look like it tries to bring up the VPN connection. I'm using the exceptions screen to detect internet/work url's. Previously I was using the earlier rom as shipped which I think was like "RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.3_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe".
Has anyone else found this issue or have any advice on a solution?
Hi,
I have just upgraded mi N1 to froyo with the official update.
I tried the tethering function and it works just fine except for the fact that i am not able to use the cisco VPN client from my laptop when connecting to the internet via tethering.
The VPN session works up to when it is already connected without any error but then it doesn't transfer any data.
Is the traffic filtered somehow? Did anyone find a workaround for this problem?
Thanks in advance
Gas
I was using CiscoVPN and now Juniper through N1's tethering, never a problem.
Check the connection - check that you have DNS servers and you can access public servers using ping, etc. From the laptop, I mean.
I finally got it to work.
The strange part is that it works when using WIFI tethering but fails when using USB tehtering.

Same here.
I plug in my phone and turn on tethering. I can surf the web. I logon to VPN and then it wont let me connect to anything on the VPN. I decided to try turning the phone in to a hotspot, this works, i get connected. I VPN in and poof! i can hit all the servers. ... anyone else run in to something like this.
USB Tether + VPN and I cant hit anything on VPN
Wifi Hotspot + VPN and everything works as it should
Tmobile G2 - Stock
Cisco VPN software
Thanks
I had the same problem using USB tethering.
I found a solution:
- change at the Cisco client software the transport to "IPSec over TCP"
This worked for me fine.
I had the same problem with Hotspot and Cicso VPN, and the change in transport protocol to "IPSec over TCP" fixed it. Thanks.
Having problems with the latest CM9 nightly build and presumably some element of the networking stack. Everything works fine until I run a program like BubbleUPnP or MediaHouse at which time all network connections fail. I can't even ping a LAN address or do a DNS lookup. The wifi still shows as connected and I can still scan for networks which does give realtime results as certain access points go in and out of range. But I have to either toggle airplane mode (works sometimes) or reboot in order to get any networking functionality back. Just wondering if anyone has had similar issues and if there are any fixes available. Thanks.
Also happens with uPnPlay. AndSMB works fine though so seems to be something specific to uPnP functions.
Same issue on Defy
I have the exact same issue on the defy running Epsylon current nightly. also happens with Quarx nightly. using softmedia player, or bubble upnp. it does seem to be upnp specific as my wifi works and my local ftp works.
Still, I'm very thankful for ICS/CM9 on my defy. Rocks my socks
+1 on Nook Color CM9/latest nightly
Same issue,
with Plex, Printershare...
But think, its wifi driver related not CM9!?
regards bitstra
And the issue still persist!!
I'm not allowed to post in the developer thread, so I hope a developer in reading this. The issue still persists in nightly 9/4/2012.
Regards
rom169
Same with aVia. Seems to be something specific to the NC builds, as both that and MediaHouse find my DLNA server no problem from both a Thunderbolt and a Revue.
Hi,
at first sorry for my english, it's not my main language. At second, I searched but didn't find anything here about my issue.
I set up 2 vpn connections in my P20 Pro (one to work, one to my home). Both vpn connections are working if I am connecting from mobile network connection. But the connection won't establish when trying to connect from a Wi-Fi (doesn't matter which, tried several different Wi-Fi's). The ports are open, the credentials etc. are correct and it's working from Wi-Fi on another Smartphone without problems.
I go to the vpn-menu, hit connect and 1 second later I get the message "not successful" for both connections.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? Is it a known problem?
Thank you in advance

I had the same issue. VPN connection was correctly set up to an AVM Fritzbox 7490.
Always used to work with my previous phone, stopped working when I started using my new P20.
When I read your comment a few minutes ago, the VPN connection (no settings changed) all of a sudden worked when I checked.
You may want to retry and check if it works. I don't know if some firmware update fixed the problem in the meantime, but now it works on my device.
Oliver.
I'm using Tunnelbear VPN on my Pro, and so far no problems with using it on wifi. Maybe just restart your Pro.

I have to correct myself here.
Unfortunately it looks like after a fresh reboot the VPN connection over WIFI works. Then after a couple of hours, it fails. Whereas the VPN connection over mobile data works a few seconds after the failed WIFI attempt.
Rebooted - VPN connection over WIFI successful again.
Pretty annoying.
Oliver.
Hi,
sorry, I forgot to post here. For me it worked after turning off "WiFi-Calling" and restarting the phone. I also would like to have WiFi-Calling because of bad cell reception at work but VPN is more important for me.
To be clear, this issue only persists when using integrated android VPN functionality. I didn't try other VPN-Apps from the play-store or somewhere else because I don't use 3rd party VPN-connections.
I didn't try to enable Wifi-Calling and testing VPN after the last upgrade (last week or so). Maybe they fixed it?

Interesting; I didn't know Android now has built-in VPN; going to check it out. (Awhile ago, I decided to go with either Tunnelbear or OpenVPN because they seemed to be the only VPNs that had independent security audits done.)
