2.Is note unbrickable like sgs?I dont need my device getting bricked.thanks guys

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360

No u cant root it directly..u have to downgrade to an older rom which is rootable
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

You need to downgrade your ROM to get it rooted.
download this
start guide n just select 'I have non rootable ROM' n follow instruction to the letter.
It is same as praetorius said you, but simplified guide with steps like 1 2 3

Thanks everyone.....Now my second question still unanswered...Is note practically unbrickable like sgs?

There many chances of bricking your Note. Just read This thread. Many people already bricked their Note.
Pit file is used for Partitions management.

Lol.I know about pits and flashing.I have done it thousand times in my i9000.I have even developed roms for sgs.I'm new to the newer boot loaders, binary counters and triangles and other stuffs..... as sgs dont have these problems.
K things apart. What it the pit file to use while using wipe rom?And when I enter dl mode it asks for confirmation. If I accept, will it ask again when I enter dl mode later though I dint flash any rom?

Thanks for your help.
1.Now the multiupload link is down which is needed to download the rom.
2."Mirror for Above file:
Download this three files
http://hotfile.com/dl/146422380/030d3db/SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip.001.html

http://hotfile.com/dl/146409567/c333e30/SGN_XX_OXA_KJ1_FACTORYFS.zip.003.html "
Is this the mirror for the rom or should I download all of it?
3.You have provided the link to download the tool to join the three files and given the mirrors below it.Thn what is this for?
"Tool to join them, run the following file and locate the .001 file.
http://www.mediafire.com/?btrusgmd1v2d72q"
Thanks for helping.P.S the text within quotes from your link for rooting a nonrootable rom.

mirror three media fire is working, some one reported just y'day.
Multiupload file / hotfile/mediafire all are same
1.multiupload
2nd mirror hotfile
3rd mirror media fire
as multiupload not working, you can use mirror 2 or 3
mirrors are interchangable e,g, if you have downloaded 001 file from hotfile you can download 002, 003 from mediafire too.
total you need to download three main file ending name, 001,002, 003 + 1 tool that will join three files to make single.
hotfie/mediafire not allowing to update > 200MB file size. so in mirror main file is splitted to three part, you have do download three files 001,002 n 003
then you have to join this parts with file joiner tool, then it will become single ROM file.

U need not to use pit, unless it is specially advised. it has no relation with wipe/nonwipe ROM.
DL mode will ask everytime to continu to use as DL mode/Reboot normally.

K now will flashing your rom give triangle and increase binary counter? And when I need to revert back to stock rom is there anything to be disabled like voodoo lag fix as in sgs???and is cwm included in your rom?

No it won't give triangle,Nor it raise counter, if you follow guide to the letter.
You can revert back with just flashing stock ROm with PC odin.
After flashing modified ROM(which U have downloaded in 3part), you will have just Root, you have to get CWM after.
Just download guide from here n follow it, for further assistance.

K thanks now according to my knowledge,Flashing custom kernel should give triangle and flashing custom rom increases binary value right? If so getting cwm will give triangle and when flashing stock rom will remove it ri8?Can a usb jig be used to remove both triangle and binary counter?

when custom rom/kernel flashed with pc odin then only it give triangle.
If u fillow my guide to get cwm it wont.
Use of jig is apart from topic right here, get from sticky over deve sectiin for detail

From what i've read in the first pages of this thread a few days ago, They catch this doomed kernel on a Chinese forum....
+ that's originally for the i9220 ( the chinese version of the Note )
This situation only proves that the I9220 is not SO close to the N7000 for me.
(or if what i 've read today in the last pages of the thead is right, they(the angelom team) messed up the fstab file (i don't even see why they edited this file, it's the best way to kill a Linux based OS, that's where the partition layout is stocked....Even for a new way to root a kernel...).
All that for a sneak peak on an unfinished ICS leak ( with almost as much problems as the first ones for the SGS2 ).
If you're past the FAD phase (Flash Addict Disorder, we all have it for a time , mine was during the last year, for my SGS2 ^^ ) , or if you are able to read a HowTo , I don't see how you can brick the Note

galaxy tab dead

Well as the title says. My GT has died ..... Fuy to put a rom and I fault the burden of odin rom. Odin gave me FAILED. And where is the blue bar downloding stood. Remove the wire and give the keys and power vol-I got a tablet with a PC and a triangle in the middle. I did a total reset to odin and reloaded and I recognized the table with those marks mentioned and I reloaded. with the same result. I say good because if I load this rom will be posting JM6 say that fixes everything. odin Todal tells me the "reset" and "pass " say COOL! SOLVED. Nothing is further from the truth. I have been on the screen that says "GALAXY Tab" and there does not happen. Try the ROM put him "BROKEN V4"with the same fate .... Probe with the kernel of "overcome " not at all a kernel of MoDaCo for the theme of recovery if the recovery was installed and nothing in odin ... FAIL. The fact is that this might not dead yet it let me access the DOWLOADIG. I think there must be something BOOT.ini. but the ideas are beyond me. if they could resurrect a DHD. but as a tab ... if not with your help I can do little more
install the JM6 and I get the picture but then stays Galay SAMSUNG TAB AND DOWN ... not start see image of odin

My Tab was once in a state like this with the exclamation mark and picture of the little pc. I believe it's fixable, and I also think that it's actually harder to permanently brick these things than would first seem. I remember I even had an error during repartitioning, surely that would have been curtains but it wasn't.
This was my experience, and in my post I link to another post that contains some useful information on getting out of that error: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12719559&postcount=13
Try it like this
Uncheck repartition
Remove the pit file
Do not add anything for the 'Phone' and 'CSC' portion.
Just flash the PDA section.
See if that works.

Use this link. Download modem file and full file. Then flash with pit in odin. It will work. Same thing happened to me.
As long as you can access downloading screen it's not dead.

This medthod work for me
1. wait until the TAB discharge (about 1 Day)
2. Connect the tab to the computer
3. wait about 10 minutes
4.After boot please start odin
5.open odin and see status connect with odin and selcet pit file from your download
http://www.4shared.com/file/pThcn9Ml/P1000_new_Odin3_v17.html
After flash pit wait a minute your phone will reboot in to recover mode and restart
to samsung logo page
6.Flash roto firmware with ordin ( if can't flash with odin will change to Heimdall_1.1.1
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/KM2/Roto-KM2-Full-v1.zip
7.After finish reboot your phone and boot into roto rom
8.Go to recovery mode
9.Flash customer firmware ( I used Overcome 1.6.4 )

[Q] Help - How to root Samsung Note KL3 (Singapore Starhub)

Hi there
Yes I know there are articles about this (damn long articles with strange terms). And I have read through a lot posts about how to root Samsung Galaxy Note - there seems to be 1001 ways to do it but none of them worked on my model KL3 (purchased from Starhub in Singapore)
-> Tried one-click root method - doesnt work anymore for KL3
-> Tried odin method, can't find the place to download the revised ROM (just wondering why will the author still post the URL that is invalid?)
So please anyone out there, if you have done any successful root on KL3, please let me know how you did it.
I am willing to pay you some $$ to get the no-nonsense answer - I have wasted 1 day digging around and I don't want to waste more time.

First downgrade your firmware, then Root it. after applying Root, you can back to Singapore KL3 or watever new ROM you desire, by using CWM or Mobile Odin
Hi sorry to hijack yr thread OP,but i am also from Singapore.i bought a set from singtel.
my firmware are as follow:
PDA:N7000DXKL3
PHONE:N7000DXKL2
CSC:N7000OLBKL2
Baseband:N7000DXKL2
Kernel:2.6.35.7-N7000DXKL3-CL825081 [email protected]#2
i am confused on which one to look at as both pda and phone has different KL version..so which one should i be looking at for rooting purposes and can my current fw be rooted directly?
Look at kernel version. You are on KL3.
Follow dr.ketan's post above.
thanks for replies.
what puzzles me is that,i read dr.ketan's pdf guide and found that N7000DXKL3 is direct rootable.have u tried and it failed?

Actually xxkl3 was released early that was direct rootable, but some newer version released under kl3 are not rootable
Actuallt kl* are non rootable, except some early kl3. So you shud try to root it directly, if not success you should consider it as non rootable.

Mmm.
I m from singapore also.
I can tell u, i don't care which version i am.
Normally i will just download the newest version from www.sammobile.com and flash through odin, and on ICS, if i loose my root, i will use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794. To get my root back. Easy and fast.
Ps: i never do full wipe on ics, i tried once and brick my device.

cwm post root

I cannot seem to find the answer that I am looking for for my issue, maybe i missed it.
I tried for ages to get to the root plus cwm to work and i could not make it happen for my phone, is there a way to put on the cwm option POST root?
I was able to get the phone rooted but had to go about it a separate way and i would like to put some custom rom action on this miserably boring phone.
Thanks
I rooted my phone first then used mobile Odin pro to flash the cf kernel which means I now have cwm and recovery.

[Q] P1000 Brick

Sorry for the long thread but please read and help me !
Sorry moderators i tried looking for my post didnt find where you placed it. so making a new and clear where i'll tell what i ve done to my tablet.
firstly my p1000 was froyo 2.2 and i didnt checked that and tried to upgrade it to jelly bean, that was the first stupidity of my.
while doing that i faced many problems and concluded that it was brick.
how ever i had rooted my phone with super one click root..
later when it was bricked i again rooted it with cwm recovery by help of cmd.
then it was more complex, i then tried to roll it back and installed the firmware but the firmware i installed was wrong region again it went more complex.
then from some thread, i again used odin and pit it and installed some other firmware. that didnt work so i did something with heimdall suite as it was instructed and mess something with zImage thing.. all failed.
now i ve finally came up with no solution and thinking what the mess i ve done.
please help me.
now odin dont recognize the phone.
the phone is booting till the samsung welcome screen i can also listen the sound.
it also goes to cwm recovery screen and also goes to downloading screen.
please tell me a way so that it can go to normal i am happy with 2.2 froyo only.
tell me a way, please give me download links so that i dont mess it again.
remember odin not accepting it, i ve charged the phone fully and also installed the samsung usb drivers but its not helping..

i am sorry for not being clear, i was talking about the mobile network.
i searched on forum, and what i understand is i have to copy modem.bin file to data/vendor.
but i dont know which modem file to copy.
You can extract modem.bin from the rom that you have downloaded.

i did that... but still not able to make any calls. my sim card is working on other phone though.
have tried flashing modem.bin and also tried copy and paste in vendor folder.
but its not working searching all over the forum but i dont know what to do
Settings>about tablet>Status> Service state : out of service / Mobile network state : disconnected / MDN : unknown
Where did you get the modem.bin from and which network you belong to.
I recommend starting by looking at gb stock safe, when you unpack there are a few modem.bin
Start with JPZ modem and stick it in /radio/ if latest cm10
Or to /system/vendor for slightly older one.

in gb stock safe, it was jpz modem file.. which i used to flash and it was flashed very well and there was no problem in anything.
later on when i upgraded for 4.1.1 it was also installed normally with no problem the only problem i encountered is i cant make any calls from it.
even the imei number is changed of my phone.
i also sticked the file in system/vendor .. i tried with the both file the jpz which i had from gb stock file and another from the firmware.
well now i trying to go for the latest cyanogen 4.1.1 hope everything get normal in it, and try to stick file in radio.
can you tell me particularly which file to copy and where ?
in gb stock jpz worked fine.. should i go for it ?
yes the same jpz modem.bin file into /radio/modem.bin
the one in the CM10 might be corrupted, who knows.

i think this Newbie Guide is wrong.

hi, i have 2 questions:
1) I think this Newbie Guide have human mistakes.
if i wasn't wrong,
PDA should be "CODE_S5830xxxxxx" ,
Phone should be "MODEM_S5830xxxxxx" and
EFS should be " DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225493
i hope somebody can verify this.
thanx.
OPS - Select the file named Cooper_v1.0.ops (or anything like that)
BOOT - Select the file named "APBOOT_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.ta r.md5"
where "xxxxx" = Your firmware version
Phone - Select the file named "CODE_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03_user_low_true.tar. md5"
where xxxxx = firmware version
PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
CSC - Select the file named "GT-S5830-MULTI-CSC-xxxxxx.tar.md5"
where "xxxxxx" = the CSC region
EFS - Select the file named "MODEM_S5830xxxxx_CL514579_REV03.tar.md5"
xxxxx = firmware version (Be VERY VERY careful with this EFS part)
After you're done , click on "Start" and let the magic reveal itself slowly......

AFAIK , we only need Android USB Drivers of Samsung Kies + ODIN +OPS to flash the Stock ROM.
and the step to root and unroot (androind 2.2 or 2.3.x) , the phone read the update file directly from the SDCARD.
I have no experience with Flash Custom Revory and Custom Rom yet, but from the fisrt post of this thread, seems that they don't need Android SDK too.
I think this Newbie Guide have human mistakes.

First of all, XDA community is wonderful.
I have read maybe thousands of posts here. And I learned many, many interesting things here.
However, I have noticed that not all the explanations, or helps, are very precise, and accurate.
In order not to make a mistake with what you're doing, it is better to search and read many explanations on XDA or on the other sites, about what you want to do, until you are convinced that you did understand.
On the other hand any beginner must divide the actions in 2 parts.
1. Dangerous for the phone
2. Not Dangerous
1.
Dangerous are: root the phone, unlocking the network, install CWM (a wrong one), flash a new Custom ROM (a wrong one), flash a firmware with Odin (with wrong files), and maybe others.
2.
Not Dangerous are: make a backup and restore, flash the same Custom ROM (that you know), modifying an apk and flash it, and so.
The point here is to choose what is good for you.
And, what you do, you do it at your own risk.
Can you please explain more detail , if you do know the answer ?
too sorry about that , I'm not quite understanding what u mean.

If the man says, PDA - DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING
you have to DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING to PDA
I have put a print screen with the steps.
View attachment 3246528
Step 1 - OPS file for SGA S5830 Cooper, it is not for S5830i
Step 2 - check mark on One Step
Step 3 - firmware that you downloaded and want to put on your phone.
Step 4 - Start and wait about 5 minutes, to write PASS.
And, of course, take your risk.
It's OK now?

Is it correct that for Odin you just need SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones
But if you move forward, and you want to work with multiple tools or applications for Android, you will still need the SDK.
What I meant to post 2, is that you have to read between the rows, not word by word.
Because no one can say that: "what works for me, will work for you."
Simply, because here we are not at school.
By the way, I just want to help.
Greetings

hi, so glad to have your replies again.
but , my first question is for FULL Package instructions , not the One Package Instructions 。
i have no any problems or questions with One Package. (actually , i think i was quite familiar to One package).
if we google the full package odin instructions , the most of results we got is sth like this:
Bootloader =APBOOT_I9003DDLF2_CL1153545_REV08_user_low_ship.t ar.md5
PDA=CODE_I9003DDLF2_CL1153545_REV08_user_low_ship. tar.md5
Phone=MODEM_I9003DDLE1_REV_00_CL1149304.tar.md5
CSC=GT-I9003-MULTI-CSC-ODDLF2_RST.tar.md5
You see, the parts that hightlight with red color on the top post ,is totally differrent from the google one .
so i need some advice from the veteran people here . (maybe both are correct? just different situation? just a wild guess)

ok, thanks.
so , let's simply assume that android SDK is just for future use with more advanced purpose.
:good:
I think i had found the answer of second question for myself .
Android SDK is for legacy root method that use adb comand to push and root the handphone device from the PC .
so it can be ommited if using something like SuperOneClick or
root by using update from sdcard method .
I think this is my last post for this thread, if no one else reply .
I hope somebody can verify which of below is the correct one:
OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-CODE, PDA-[EMPTY], CSC-CSC ,EFS-MODEM (leave One Package empty)
(or)
OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-MODEM, PDA-CODE, CSC-CSC (leave EFS and One Package empty)
thankx
