If I leave my phone charging over night, I wake up in the morning finding it off. Which is bad because my phone is my alarm, ha. This only started happening after I flashed WEUI and then ASNET MIUI. Any ideas on how I can fix this? I'm running MIUI ASNET 1.4.4 with the latest glitch kernel.

Lots of people have this issue, seems to be a hardware related under certain conditions, like when the battery is fully charged, wifi on.
Google "Captivate random shut downs" and you will find a lot of info.
I have a Captivate running Android 4.0.2 (ICS).
I will continue searching and just asked "Captivate Keep Alive" app developer (see "Play Store") if it is compatible with ICS.
If you're on Glitch, try bumping up the voltage of the lowest frequencies by +25 mV.

Thanks for the support. It's been about a month and I've learned to live with it. I've tried Captivate Keep Alive for a few weeks and it hasn't been much help. My main concern is having my Captivate survive the night. Nowadays, it'd turn off and the battery would discharge despite being plugged in.
As for Glitch kernel, I'm using Semaphore at the moment but I'll try that out. Thanks.
In case you are still looking. I think I'm in the same boat as you. Captivate Keep Alive worked fine for GB, but all ICS roms (and kernels) introduced the shutdown during charging. The fix is this app : Wake Lock. It does the same thing KA but it doesn't turn off when the phone is charging. Problem with Wake Lock is that you gotta control it manually.
So hopefully in the future they'll be a KA version with that option.

I was using "Captivate Keep Alive" some on GB Roms, but was appearing incompatible with ICS, as the app, though still present, would turn off before it was supposed to.

I had raised my min CPU to 200 for shut downs.
Saw this post, I've never changed any of my voltage settings, never OC's, etc. I'm presuming in NS Tools, presuming from the "volt" tab, but am unsure of what to change to bump up min frequency.
Thanks

Hi, I have problem when I'm using AC charger to charge my phone. He sometimes freeze and become realy hot, but it happens only when I'm using adapter. Charging from usb(Notebook) is fine.
I have same problem on CM7[nightlies] and CM9[NovaHD].
Problem started after few months using CM7.
It starting to be realy annoying. Hope you can give me some advice what to do.
it happens to me too sometimes, completely random. And yes, very annoying... especially when you have an alarm set and you're not a morning person
Did anyone find an explanation why this thing happens sometimes while charging? It's awful to know what while you charge the phone it could die eventually and burn out.
I noticed it gets hot where the back camera is.
I just used a HTC charger on cm9 for two nights, no freezes. Screen was turned off.
Will cm9 supports o2x properly

stay awake while charging
ive been using Owain's KANG BUILD CM9 ICS. i didnt have any problems with the charging issues while on cm7, the issue has only happened once so far in a couple of weeks on cm9.
somepeople have been able to get around the issue via the "stay awake" while charging option in the developer options.
see if it helps?
wouldn't that kill the display life?

no, only the kernel that awake.

Since I use a no-name charger instead of the original one, the problem is gone since a year :good:
This is the price you pay, the awake method works, you can try to increase minimum freq up, but the best solution, read in dev section in the tread for your kernel, don't ask before you have read it all. You most likely need a stable version and for sure you have better chance avoiding bsod/sod/freeze by using stock based rom. Even safer, keep stock kernel too.
So I ported THIS ROM Over to the captivate, and since Im no dev I have No idea what might be causing this. I am having user report that when they turn there screen off(Sleep) that it doesn't turn back on unless you do a battery pull. I Had to ask so I can see if someone else more experienced can assist me with this.
He has deep idle enabled. It really has no effect on battery. Just a "Placebo" affect. So disable and see if it works.

Use NStools, or does that ROM have Semaphore packaged in it? If it is using Semaphore then use the Semaphore App. Also his 100 MHz may be too low. Slowly bump up the voltages until he finds a stable UV.
Hope this helps

Main principle is Android RIL communicates with help of hsic driver to communicate to the CP (modem) chip. And vice-versa. Modem chip also has the same hsic at there side also.

Hello
I've been encountering L2_hsic and a few other related wakelocks for months (even years), ever since updating my I9100T to ICS (which I did the minute custom ICS roms hit web).......
I searched around and found out the l2_hsic wakelocks are generated by a kernel file "/drivers/misc/modem_if/modem_link_device_hsic.c" which is also responsible for rpm_hsic and tx_hsic wakelocks.
From there I went to CM git and with help from their IRC channel I found the source code for their version of this file:

A explanation from anirudhgargi what hsic is! (09/06/12) post 264 :
anirudhgargi said:
HISC is the interface that connected the main Soc processor ( Also called Applciation Processor AP) to the modem ( 3G or 4G if there are two modems separately )
HSIC is used the standard USB core library. And it is stanrd given by usb.org. The HSIC by itself consumes very less power and is one of the very power efficient and space efficient ways of interconnecting chips. Currently common to Qualcomm and Sammy Exynos architectures.
The reason you seeing too many HSIC wake lock and other wake us's is due to the fact that the HSIC interface is waken up by modem (Normal scenarios are also so many) .

I have the same kernel wakelock l2_hsic in my phone when it is otherwise idle... no idea what it is though, but in my feeble understanding it means that the phone never gees into deep sleep - and that can't be good can it?
I have the same problem of the l2_hsic wakelock popping up and eating battery. A reset always cures it for some time but it eventually appears again... Very annoying, I hope someone figures out how to get rid of it..
Same here, l2_hsic keeps my phone awake. It's seems to start at some random point and never "switches off" again until I reboot the phone. After a reboot it takes usually takes a couple of hours before this lock reappears.
Never saw this lock on GB, btw.
I'm having the same issue too. Has anyone figured out what it is yet?
I gave up.
Went back to Gingerbread using PC Odin and flashed a pre-rooted LA1.
Installed Mobile Odin Pro and flashed official LPY using Everroot and the 2 injects.
So far it has been running nicely with no wakelocks worth mentioning.
Disclaimer: I am a noob, what i have done might be unsafe and stupid.
same problem here. I also have not found a solution, even though I force-stopped all installed programs it was still there. Bad thing, it reduces my battery life from about 3 days to 14 hrs :/
i have a bunch of random kernel wakelocks that randomly start up and keep going. l2_hsic is one of the worst offenders tho.

Update: Phone is doing great now, with uptime of about 36h.
L2_HSIC does show up in kernel wakelocks but only for about 10 minutes in this 36h period.
Yesterday it seemed like my note cured itself, the l2_hsic wakelock was up for about 10 minutes and after 19 hrs I had 45% left. Without changing anything today it is worse like before. The Samsung-Support did not know what to do except for a factory reset, but I'd really like to find a better solution.
It seems like a restart cures the wakelock for about 24 hrs. I restarted it 1 hour ago and until now the l2_hsic hasn't come up...
you mention "2 injects" -- what are you referring to there? I did the LPY flash via mobile odin pro, but still have the l2_hsic battery drain issue, so perhaps I can try the '2 injects'?
edit: oh, SU and everroot?
SU and Mobile Odin with Everroot selected as well, of course

You're right. I have the same problem. A reboot fixes it but it's always back when you least expect it. You only notice it once the battery is down by an inexplicable 20%
How do we bring this to the notice of someone who knows how to fix it.
On gingerbread I have other wakelocks. "gps" and sometimes "fuel_alerted".
I joined the club and have this strange wakelock too ^^
Only 4,6% though, so it's no battery drain but regardless of that i was curious and wanted it removed :
Hope there is a more permanent solution for this than rebooting
I use the LPY rom together with CF-Kernel LPF. I had the l2_hsic problem too. For me reflashing the kernel with mobile odin resolved the problem.

I stand corrected, it DID come back, L2_hsic startet some 4h ago and never stopped again.
I've had it, I'll switch to CM9.
When on charger, it's always awake at 200Mhz...
I've read somewhere that if you unplug from charger with the Note in "sleep mode", it will not enter Deep Sleep.
I had the fuel alerted wakelock because the bat was down to 5% and charged it and unplug it while screen off.
Also had the "no Deep Sleep" problem, but after I've started to wake up the phone prior to unplug the cord, it sleeps like a baby (2 days with usage) and always deep sleep when screen is off (checked by spy cpu).
Hope it helps...

Unplugging while "Awake" is not the solution.
My phone goes into this permanently awake state randomly after upgrading to ICS. (I am stock, and upgraded via Kies...never messed with this phone before). I too noticed the L2_hsic taking alot of time.
I have made a concious effort to investigate this, and I can confirm that unplugging the phone while "awake" as a solution is false.
Not once since I discovered this problem have I unplugged while sleeping, but alas, I am again in a zero deep sleep situation.
Back to restarting this stupid thing every 2 days after finding my battery draining 15-20% in some short minutes.
I abslutely love this phone!!! Best in the world hands down!!! I love ICS!!! But if this problem doesn't go away, I am giving up! Samsung is both the best...and the worst!
Heys Guys Im having an issue with my Captivate, its was working fine for the past week. It started giving me problems like battery temps too high, cant charge, had to charge it manually, removing battery & charging it all night. All this happened when im with stock rom latest with leaked 2.3.5

From the past 2 days im trying to install CM10,9, 10.1..... after installation it shuts down itself. Not able to use it.

When/how does it happen?
What are the changes/mods you made?
Did you restore anything?
Did you try different kernel settings?
Did you try flashing a different kernel (like Semaphore?) or flashing a different ROM?
I could be asking more questions but really, I dunno what causes it, I can only guess. Also a search in the CM10.1 thread might give you an answer to your SoD <-- Should've been your first step*

Battery temp to high is a big problem. Did you overcloak? Have you running bunch of stuff at the same time?
When it shuts down, does it reboot by itself or you have to do it manually?

Sounds like Battery health status does not equal healthy. That forces an immediate shutdown, whether due to temperature or excessive internal resistance. That's because once a Li ion battery reaches critical temperature, it combusts and destroys your phone, burns you and anything around it, etc.
GET ANOTHER BATTERY ASAP.
Stop trying to circumvent high temperature shut down.

I think it's not CM related but hardware related. Does this happen when not using the wifi hotspot too?
I'm thinking your battery is bad (even if new), charger is bad, connection is bad (maybe from water/humidity) or that your usb port is bad. No easy way of finding it other than testing.

May be yes, the phone some times just goes blank, i have to manually switch ON. The same battery works well in my frnds phone quite well.
Port dont know, i can copy files no errors even now when i plug it in on stock gingerbread the battery doesnt charge but can copy files as before.
Since the batt works well in other phone, a couple of ideas. Perhaps silly to ask, but just checking:
did you wipe battery stats in cwm after flashing?
did you clean the phone's battery terminals with a bit of alcohol?
what's the battery health, temperature and voltage history look like, if you can get it. you can log it with battery monitor widget or similar app. set to short 1 minute interval for testing.
.........
About a week ago, I started noticing that my phone battery gets very hot and the battery drains quickly when the phone is NOT in use (Screen off, sitting on my desk). Full charge to 0% in 4 four hours or so, without being stressed.
When I try to charge it from the supplied wall charger, it doesn't get past 87% charged before the battery temp creeps into the 40s and it starts draining (while still plugged in).
I assume it's a faulty battery, only because I haven't downloaded anything new. The only change I made was updating Viber. I removed that app from my phone but it's still dropping like a fly.
I've done a factory reset twice, no change.
Rebooted the phone many times, no change.
Tried different cables and different chargers (PC, Old X10), no change.
Now, since I can't replace the battery in this phone, I'm hoping there's a software method to see what might be eating the battery.
Note : My LT30a .195 can't be rooted, and the bootloader can't be unlocked. Also, I don't know how to take screenshots.
Anyone have an suggestions ??
In Settings-Battery you should be able to see what processes are using it.
If you want to monitor cpu load in real time, then you'll need some app, like OS Monitor to see load per process, or PowerTutor for logging cumulative consumption.
I bought this phone several days before. Yesterday got root, installed cwm recovery and installed jb 4.1.2 deoxed stock Rom. I noticed that my phone can't sleep. Totally! Take a look on screenshots. I thought that may be bcoz of some apps so I wiped everything (int and ext sdcard too), but it makes no sense

Turning off your auto sync when not needed should do the trick.
Something's wrong there. I've got too much battery consumption by Android System too, but that is ridiculous.
¿Have you tried BetterBatteryStats to see what's keeping it on?.

Dude your phone is just fine...10% down in 9 hrs with wifi on is too good...everything looks normal..gtalk seems to be waking up the phone to update the online offline lists.in general syncing...thats all..if it was 10% down in 1 hr then it wouldve been a problem...the data looks just fine..and trust me your phone is entering sleep mode..or else it wouldve showed different result..to confirm that install cpuspy..it will say what all frequency are being used and how much phone is sleeping and all...
so just chill..
BTW I logged out from gtalk yesterday evening so I can't understand why it's trying to connect

Does anyone have problems with "wifistatemachine"
I never used to but BBS is showing this as a major reason for my phone not sleeping well. (poor baby)...
