official ice cream sandwich - LG Optimus 2x

anyone start petition to LG for release of ics for optimus 2x?

Hi, why do a petition just for that ? Except Nexus phones there not official ICS on other phone..

They have already said ICS will be released some time in Q2 of this year.
As we are still in Q1, there is no need for a petition yet. The need for petitions will only arise when the promised release date goes by with no word from LG again lol :-D

[Q] p990 more than powerfull enough to run Ice Cream Sandwich?

Icecream Sandwich has been all the news in the android community within the last couple of days.
Since our O2x has some pretty high specs, you would think that it would get the update, official or not.
Question is, would it be worth the wait?
Google said: "Currently in the process for releasing Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S. Theoretically should work for any 2.3 device.", as you say the P990 has a decent spec so I don't see it being an problem.
I will be using CM9 for sure (if / when etc.) IMO LG will never put ICS on the P990... (they haven't even sent 2.3 to us in Norway....)
Google, hurry up and release the source!!

LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the ICS(OS) update

LG Uses Facebook To Confirm Ice Cream Sandwich For Optimus 2X And Other ‘High-End Smartphones’
Well this is a sudden turn of events. After previously stating that the phone would not be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich, LG has confirmed Android 4.0 will be coming to the Optimus 2x as well as other high-end handsets. Hit the break to see the official statement from LG’s Facebook page.
“LG firmly denies the rumors that claim LG will not be providing the Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) OS update for the LG Optimus 2X. These rumors are NOT true. LG is currently in the process of planning the ICS OS update for the LG Optimus 2X as well as other LG high-end smartphones. Detailed information on the ICS OS update schedule for specific models will be announced, once the ICS OS is publicly released by Google. Please stay tuned for more updates from LG.
Thank you very much.”
There you have it kids. Straight from the source itself, Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming to LG after all. Given LG’s notorious history of lagging behind with the updates of its devices, it will be curious to see when Android 4.0 becomes a reality on their handsets. That of course, is if LG follows through with its commitment to the ICS update for the Optimus 2x and other select devices like its other US counterpart, the T-Mobile G2X.

but LG didn't deny they don't provide ICS to optimus black
Yeah, I don't think they consider OB as an high-end handset ...
Horse sh**...they were the ones who posted that they will not bring ics to g2x.
I wil' buy ob if either lg announces that they will provide ics for ob or somebody assures me that there will be some unofficial port to ob definitely.
Please help me guys.Iam in dilemma
any help would be appreciated
I can't provide any assurance (and I don't really understand how can you request that), however, I'm pretty sure that CM7 support will get to be official in a while, and once that happens, I guess that we'll also be receiving ICS as soon as CM7 gets it as long as there are enough developers working on this phone Support our developers to get them motivated and show them that you care and you'll have ICS on your phone long before LG releases the update (just as I have gingerbread on my phone right now via CM7).

Does ice cream sandwich support single core phones? I heard that ice cream sandwich is only available to dual core phones. Since the ob is single core it might no get it. Is it true?

I hope LG wont be lazy
ics is already ported to single core samsung google nexus s and it is running smoothly. So there is no doubt that ob gonna run ics smootly. Its upto the devs
For me, I will NOT recommend any LG phone to anybody.
When I purchase an open source OS phone, thw most important thing for me would be the continuous support.
If I will not have it, I prefer going to Iphone..

Android 4.0 ICS Confirmed coming to Optimus 2x!!!!!!

I have recently received a tweet from LG and they are confirming that Ice Cream Sandwich wil be coming to the Optimus 2x!! When and how is still a mystery but im glad that 4.0 will be coming to our phones ;D

LG Android 4.0 upgrades Optimus 2X in Q2 2012

Anyone wanna guess the delay duration?
LG plans to begin upgrading its portfolio of Android handsets to Ice Cream Sandwich in the second quarter of next year, the company has just announced. Among the first phones to benefit from Android 4.0 will be the Optimus 2X, which launched as the world's first dual-core smartphone earlier this year, the recent Optimus LTE, and the upcoming Prada Phone. They'll be followed by the Optimus 3D, Optimus Black, Optimus Big, and a couple of other handsets in Q3 of 2012. Not exactly the most aggressive rollout roadmap in the world, but we'd rather see the ICS upgrade happen later than never.
Importantly, LG continues to make no mention of the American variants of these phones — such as the T-Mobile G2x or the AT&T Thrill 4G and Nitro HD — what their fate will be remains to be seen.

Nice.. hopefully LG won't just keep pushing the dates further as they did for gingerbread.
Good news, screw the american versions, they need to be updated by their carriers anyway.
Just wish nvidia would released their crap so the dev community can make a decent ICS release NOAW.
Q2...yes...
BUT Q2 for LG's calendar, not the Gregorian calendar.
finally, i hope so, it wouldnt late Q3.
From LG Mobile facebook page:
During the second quarter of 2012 upgrades will begin for the following smartphone models: the LG Optimus LTE, Prada phone by LG 3.0, the LG Optimus 2X, the LG Optimus Sol, the LG my Touch Q and the LG Eclipse. These upgrades will be followed by upgrades for the following smartphone models during the third quarter of 2012: the LG Optimus 3D, the LG Optimus Black, the LG Optimus Big, the LG Optimus Q2 and the LG Optimus EX.

I wonder about delay... Maybe we should bet?
I really hope we will receive it, but till that time I think CM with ICS will be ready.
Q2 ends in late june, maybe that's when we'll get it.
LG won't release ICS on early april. That's a fact.

I seriously doubt cm is going to release ICS for us untill its already out.
Maybe yes, maybe now. It can be the same situation as with Gingerbread. CM was provided before the official release.
The situation might be worse since we need LG for the camera and Nvidia source (or binaries that help... not 100% sure on that). An LG leaked build may help to a very limited extent. Until then it's just a waiting game.

LG announced in march 2011 that the gingerbread update will come "soon".
I guess you're just referring to the post in the nvidia forum? There's no timeframe unfortunateley.

ahahaa! good one, i know what you mean.
but a month back Nvidia officially announced that they would release their codes in the first quarter so they can be more dev friendly, and help get ics to tegra devices...
I guess by the end of nov 2012 we should hav it :0

Wont the next version of android be announced by then?
Hello!
Yes, Jelly Bean will be most probably out by then and the next generation Google phone with it...
I am confident that the Cyanogenmod Team will be faster than LG and ICS/CM9 will be released by Q2/2012
I am also sure that LG will release its ICS build no earlier than late Q3 to Q4/2012 – but I would be very happy if I am wrong and LG can pull its stuff together and get ICS out as announced…
But all of this is of course IMHO.
that's very cute, I'll expect the ics update by December again

One way or another we will get it, super late from LG or half a year earlier through Nvidia source and CM9.

The source for their development platforms (e.g. Tegra 2's Harmony and Ventana along with whatever else they came up with.). O2X has slightly different hardware but this will be a lot better than the nothing Nvidia has provided so far. Though, given the lack of camera, even on OMAP platforms (TI released source), it looks like camera and maybe a few other things could ultimately be up to LG. Let's hope they leak something early. =P

LG Optimus Black not getting Ice Cream Sandwich update either

LG Optimus Black is the latest smartphone on the list of devices that will not get updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, despite previous promises of that happening at some point in the future. Word comes straight from the Twitter page of LG Canada. For some reason, the tweet has been deleted, yet we still have a screenshot of it as proof.
Actually, we aren't all that surprised that the LG Optimus Black will not get an official update to Android 4.0. That's because the LG Optimus 2X, which used to be the company's flagship smartphone last year, won't be updated either, even though its hardware should be capable of handling the platform without much trouble. LG has yet to clarify what made it cancel the software updates for these two smartphones, but our guess is that the company is trying to push its newer ICS devices, instead of updating older ones.
So yeah, LG Optimus Black owners will be stuck with Gingerbread, it seems. Perhaps, the more adventurous ones can try finding a working aftermarket ROM on the internet, as long as voiding the device's warranty is not an issue.

Now its all in the hands of developers - for ICS cUSTOM ROM !
Although I'm ok with 2.3, it is still a big disappointment of LG
