Hi, that's my first post and unfortunately i'm not happy at all .
I hadn't read ab restoring GB on ICS, and I was trying to restore my GB backup on CWM ICS Rom.
Firstly, CWM errored when it was restoring "/system". I was trying to restore my ICS backup, but it's freezing on "/system".
Now i was trying to flash Imilka's ROM again, but CWM freezes at "Setting permissions".
Any ideas/hopes?
Sorry for my English.
I'm a noob.
Can you still get into Clockwork recovery? If so, try this: take out your SD card and connect it to your PC. Download the Abyss Kernel (latest is 4.2) and copy that a GB ROM to the SD Card. Put the SD Card back into the phone and reboot into recovery (volume up, power and home button at the same time). Flash the Abyss kernel. Then select to reboot into recovery (not reboot the system). When you reboot into recovery (the recovery will have changed to redpill), flash the GB ROM you copied to your SD card.
Good luck.

Hi, problem starts when ROM is on the phone, everything works good, but when display dims, after few minutes phone goes into boot logo loop (no restarts no nothing, just goes into boot logo loop) and only way is to hold down power button to restart phone.
This happens to me with CM7, MIUI, ICS ports. I will try to describe how I do flashing.
1 -> Samsung Galaxy S with stock rom (xxjvt)
2 -> flashed CF-Root xx_jvt kernel (through odin) to root SGS
3 -> booted into recovery, wipe all four available things (cache, factory reset, dalvik, battery stats)
4 -> flashed CM7 (once)
5 -> flashed ICS (onecosmic's port) (once)
6 -> rebooted phone, everything works perfectly, but I can't let go phone into sleep mode.
I was asking for help before, and I got told to try to flash stock again, and then CM7 (because with CM7 happens the same for me)
So I went back to stock, but didn't flashed any custom rom because I was waiting for RC/Final versions of ICS port.
So does anyone have any clue how to fix this, or tell me the "Right or Best" way to flash custom roms.
Thank you.
The way I flash is:-
Backup all apps using titanium backup, then copy the titanium backup folder from the internal sd card to the external sd card.
Remove BOTH the simcard and the external sdcard, boot to recovery goto mounts/storage and format sdcard. (that wipes the internal card and removes all crap)
remove battery and replace, boot to DOWNLOAD then using ODIN flash the pit file (512), repartion, flash the stock rom (PHONE,MODEM and CSC files)
Phone will then boot to stock
Replace the sim and external sd.
Boot to DOWNLOAD again and flash your kernel, I use semaphore found no issues at all with it. Reboot phone.
Reboot into recovery, do your 4 wipes then
Flash your cm7 or custom rom you are wanting to use through cwm.
Flash any desired theme.
If the phone goes into any boot loop then I just flash VOODOO kernel via ODIN and then disable all the lags in cwm.
This usally lets me flash what ever I want..and I have flashed my phone too many times now
Hope this helps you matey
Thanks, I also got PM from lgsshedden with other possible way to solve this.
fallowed your guide now, everything went OK so far, will post back in few hours if my issue is solved, thanks.
Hi,
This may be a noobish question, but if I want to experiment with the new ICS builds, will I be able to simply restore a nandroid to revert to the way I had it before on GB?

Yes you can. Here are the detailed steps for reverting to GB from ICS.
--Download AbyssNote 4.2 kernel with redpill touch recovery Or Abyss 3.9 Kernel (for some users where the 4.2 kernel haven't worked 3.9 worked perfect)from here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362424 .
--Now first put this zip on your SD Card before you try to flash anything or restore anything.
--Now boot into recovery - Volume up + Home + Power
--Choose - install zip from SD Card
--Navigate to your Abyss kernel 4.2 or 3.9 zip and flash it
--After flashing is complete- go back to the Recovery start menu
--Go to advanced > reboot recovery
--This will reboot the phone directly to new recovery - Hyperdroid Redpill Recovery
--Now go to Wipe Menu and wipe cache, dalvik and do your factory reset
--After this start your restore from nandroid backup , or flash any GB rom !
Cheers!! Enjoy your Note!
Hit thanks if it helped!
Hi abhi...
I heard that if you're coming from ICS Stunner to Nandroid or Flashed GB Rom, you should downgrade to AbyssNote 3.9 Kernel instead.
Have you experienced such a thing?

Stick to Abyss 4.2!! tried and tested numerous times!!
However once kernel is flashed make sure to reboot the recovery from the kernel, it will reboot into the newly flashed kernel and then try to restore your nandroid.
Just follow what Abhi said and it will be a smooth ride for you mate!!
Hi,
I have very limited experience with my brand new SG note.
Just a few quick questions:
1. I currently have midteam 1.1 installed.
2. If I create a cwm/rom manager backup of the current rom, can I reboot to cwm recovery and simply restore (which I did with lots of struggles.
Restoring after removing sim card worked eventually and that may have nothing to do with restore; but it worked!)?
Would Abyss 4.2 in place have made the recovery smoother?
Or
It is required only if I want to go back to GB again?
3. Can I flash Abyss on top of my current ICS, regardless?
I hope I have put my question properly.
cheers
The only ,I repeat the only safe ICS ROM is cm9 official ,if you install that then you can restore your GB nandroid backup normally from CWM
But with any other ICS ROM you'll have a high chance of bricking if you so a restore or flash from CWM .the reason being is the leaked kernel which is being used in said ROMs have a faulty erasing script and may cause a corrupted nand drive ,thus a permanent brick
Read the public service announcement sticky first before flashing anything.
I had ICS Stunner in my Note working properly.
I needed to revert back to stock GB, so I downloaded the stock ROM from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1590284
N7000XXLC1-2.3.6-2012 March-N7000CPWLB2--United Kingdom
(my phone is NOT from UK).
After that I followed these steps:

I've done everything up to "After this start your restore from nandroid backup , or flash any GB rom".
When I try to "choose zip from internal card" and choose the beforementioned ROM, I get the message "E:Can't open /emmc/1/GT-N7000..... Installation aborted".
If i try to choose file from external SD card I get "Can't mount /sdcard/".
I've tried flashing Abyssnote 3.9 as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599229
Still same problem.
Does it have something to do, that the ROM I've downloaded isn't the same as my original ROM? (I mean the letters at the end, like LA4, KL2 and so on. I can't remember my original ones)?
And I don't have any backup.
Can someone help me get back to ANY gingerbread?
Thanks a lot in advance.

I think you should go back to any stock rootable GB ROM using ODIN. Then flash your custom GB ROM over it and then restore your apps using Titanium Backup or any such tool provided you have used the same to back up your apps.
Go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
And download any one of the pre rooted GB ROMs and flash it using Odin
The difference in ROM title does not affect flashing
Had the very same problem. At a welknown site a registred and downloaded a original rom. A rooted rom did not worked with my Note. After that i flashed the Rom with pit file completely. And yes, miricaly it worked! My only problem was that i picked a rom which had no rooting available so i had to downgrade. I downgraded with a rooted rom and finaly i was where i left some 5 hours before, but now with a working device!!
I don't know if I can post after this time, (couldn't get my hands on that phone and check out your advice), but now I've tried it and it works perfectly - thanks!
Hi,
I installed v30b for test but now i want to go back on cm10. I flashed a stock v20 with cwm with smartflash and i was able to boot in recovery. I tested to load my v20 rom but that alway come back to recovery, impossible to load my v20 rom. So, i tried to install cm10 and all was ok. But when i try to go in recovery mode, the phone restart without going into it and do a factory reset.
Now each time im trying to go in recovery mode, cm10 do a factory reset
What i can do for resolve this problem?
Flash cwm with rom manager
Sent from my phone powered by cm10, Big thanks to RC
Rom manager said im on 5.0.2.6. So i can only install the version 6 of cwm but it dont work(cant mount sd card)
So its impossible to install again 5.0.2.6 by rom manager. Because rom manager dont show old cwm version like before
Its very strange because before my v20cwm rom worked. Now i got boot loop in recovery mode. And if i install cm10, its impossible to go in recovery without factory reset
I tried to flash cwm with PC and i alway get "access denied" (debug on, mass storage off)
Oh yes i got it from ZEUS rom. Flashed cwm from UPK kit pack
thx!
While trying to get a new ROM I installed CWM recovery and it can't mount the SD card to install update.zip for CWM and the new ROM. The Jelly Bean OS I have installed won't boot (it says that it has unfortunately stopped working) so I can't put anything on my internal memory.
Any ideas?

You need to flash JB with Odin first, if you was on GB. Then you can install custom JB ROM. And you need to repartition SD card if nothing is visible in CWM from it. For that read this thread. You need to use USB Mass storage to mount SD card, and be able to do that.
And if you got JB before instaling ROM, you need to do Factory reset in recovery. Probably that cause that "unfortunately stopped working".
P.S. What CWM you used, temp one? Use stock recovery, and root phone. Than use Frapeti's universal kernel flasher (it is in develeper section of I9070), and flash CoCore 6.2 (unpack it first and use kernel.bin.md5).
It was on Jelly Bean before doing anything. I tried factory reseting multiple times and it didn't work. I'm using CWM recovery 5.8.1.5.
So if I can't get into the OS and recovery doesn't work, what's my first step? Will Odin recognize my phone?
Thanks
Edit: never mind, it just worked. I don't really understand how and thank you for your help.

Use CWM that is integrated in kernel, like CoCore 6.2 kernel. You used temporary CWM?
