im starting a new business and im looking for an email service provider that i can get push notifications to my cell (epic touch 4g). i know those aint free like gmail or hotmail but looking for something good but economic
can anyone recommend any thing?
http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/index.html
It costs $5 a month, and you'll get [email protected] and you'll be able to add different business tools/apps to your account. It will work like regular Gmail, and it's easy to set it up on your phone. 30 days free trial.
any other option out there i could possible consider before deciding on this one
i used 1and1 when i started my business. it came with 50 email slots for employess and a stock website that was easy to change around. I was very happy with them and their service.
alaman68 what do you use now?

I think Microsoft has something similar. Haven't used Domain.com but it's $1.99 /month.

nothing, sold that business to a bank for a lot of TARP money
I am planning another company in the few months and i definitely will use them again because it was so easy. One word of advice, when you check different registries for name availability, they will hold that name so you can't take it from godaddy to myfreedomain.
Give 1and1 a look. they also have a sales department you can call with questions to make sure they do meet your individual needs.
thinking of going with Gmail for business i use the trial and see how it goes
hey the business im starting is a trucking business and have been having trouble with coming up with the name thats not already being used by someone else
We will work CA, AZ, NV, NM, TX , mainly with Produce and Dry freight we bring in alot of international product into the states (yes i know this is waaaayyyy off topic but if you can help that be great)
cant find anything so last resort is
740 Transportation ... what do you guys think???
Gmail All the Way and +5 more and you can add 25 gigs to your account. Really Good.
The problem with gmail is the support. It was impossible to receive decent support... I agree with free service = no support. But not when you pay.
Look for a hosted exchange company that is available on phone, by chat or email. It was the major point in my decision.

Well, there's definitely something fishy about that site. I tried to register, but didn't get a mail with the Authorisation Code. So at least it seems they are not trying to steal your money.
It is correct that the MPx has not yet been released (and afaik it'll be another few month before they actually will release it). And the picture they show is outdated - there is confirmed information that Motorola changed the keyboard layout to something more conventional. The photo does not reflect this change.
Also, the price seems way too low.
I wouldn't buy from them, even if their shop system actually worked.
Cheers
Daniel
Id like to think that they actually were selling that product at that price. However Ive been stung before with dodgy internet dealers for a few hundred pounds so Im trying to be wary not to splash my cash.
The XDA 2 is great, but you cant exactly take it with you a nightclub and ask for a girls number with it without looking like a proper geek! Its got a lot of good points, but also a lot of negatives too.
This IS a con scheme. I emailed motorola themeselves and they replied saying that the product has not been released yet anywhere in the world but it should be released this fall (autumn! )
I've taken my sim card from my old Razr and put it in my new tilt. Everything seems to be working fine. I had unlimited MediaNet data on my Razr. Will that carry thru to my new Tilt?
yes, it will carry through until AT & T realize you have a WM phone then they may make changes to your plan.
i had the same thing i went into the store and asked and all the did was register my phone with the SIM/phone # with the IMEI # the guy said this will keep people from stealing it and putting a new SIM in. but in all reality there isn't a reason to go in and do anything the plan is identical UNLESS! you add MS Exchange, then they tack on an extra $10 or maybe $20 i would have to check. I don't recommend it just hook up your gmail account.
I would just keep the sim int he new device and not say anything about it. Let ATT figure it out. I seriously doubt they will though since they have warranty swaped and upgraded my phones in the past and everytime I call they still think I have my original from when I first started...

is that yer best guess?... cuz it is ONLY a guess, just to post something.
att aint gonna do nothing.. not a thing..
you learned something today..
at least when you post guesses, you should preface it as a guess.
hope my reply helped 2 seperate plans unlimited (which you have) and the Exchange server (allows sync with windows exchange, outlook etc.)
It's not a guess but a fact as I had the 20$ unlimited media package from my razr, then to my Hermes, then to my kaiser, and all was well until my Kaiser crapped out and had to upgrade to the ppc plan to get my new kaiser running. 35$!! They say that data plan doesn't work for ppc's, even though It was working just fine for two and a half years; I smell a lawsuit coming...
I'm not sure why nobody has looked into this with their local attorney's or even at a Federal level, these phone company's are getting away with anything they wish! I don't even pay half that amount for my monthly DSL! **** this ****, goin to downtown L.A. today to connect with my Lawyers
@kaalgoosy: Read this.
Point is, you shouldn't have to run circles and basically trick your service provider from charging you more monthly charges when it's not necessary for getting the same service. Multiply the added service charge by how many new customers are being duped=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Yea, there's a way to sneak past these charges by pretending to own an old school miami vice brick phone; but how many other people are getting screwed???
The point is, the plans are pretty unclear now as both are "unlimited". But the cheaper one is to be understood as having lets say a 3GB/month limit before they will come and moan at you because there's no way you'd download that amount of data using a common phone and light browser, while with the expensive one you can do what you want (truly unlimited).
The only thing you would get from suing them is for them to state a clear transfer limit for the cheap plan. The thing is that, but if they have too much trouble they'll just limit the cheap one at lets say 2GB/month.
Or you wouldn't get anywhere as I wouldn't be surprised if there was already a limit mentioned somewhere in the small print that nobody reads.
No, Both plans are labelled and listed as "unlimited" media packages, and I've experienced no extra charges from extra kb or mb downloads for the last two years
there was never a specification on download kb's. It was an all you can eat plan, I must have spent an hour on the phone making sure I wouldn't be charged for exceeding my download limit as I 've seen my friends phone bill exceed 1000$ in one month for sending one too many pics and texts
That's the point. They don't have a fixed transfer amount after which they charge you for extra traffic, rather if they judge you use too much with regard to the device category your plan is meant for they'll "kindly force" you to change for the one that matches the usage you really make of it.
That's exactly what I'm talking about, a contract is a contract, and you can't just change a stipulation or add a ghost policy because it might not suit your company's best interests. Only in my second year of law school, but c'mon, this smells like horse****, gonna read the finer details today

What the heck :O. I seriously don't think they are legit, maybe stolen !? I just wrote an email to them. And they claim a 24 months warranty!. Maybe they are trying to fool someone and get some money. Don't know

A quick check around finds.
Very little onthe web about a company that is supposed to have been in business since 1996.
Not registered at Companies House.
Web Site was created in August this year.
And this is their trading address.
NEW-TOPICS STORE
45 Gardner Rd
Lancaster, Lancashire
Which looks like this.

So. Make up your own mind.
Ciao.com does have some customer reviews but I have not read them yet apart from one who said he could not complete the transaction as their PayPal would not take payment
Just like I suspected. Clearly there's no STORE around that corner .
I found similar fooling techniques being applied on eBay, ebay.fr to be exact.
eBay remove some of them and notified by email too. I guess all those 100% positive feedback are f**kers trying to pull money easy. Btw. can anyone explain me if the Buyer Protection works for these cases on eBay ?
I sent them a email too and i seen where the address took me in the uk, also i looked everywhere for this site cant find anything on it, i couldnt find the address in italy where it is being run from.
The website is part of prostores, where you can set up your own website and sell stuff, and its run by ebay, soo ummm i dont no, i dont really want to pay that money to find out to be honest.
also had a look on ciao, it dont look good the guys payment was cancelled but this was a while ago, they have updated since then.
anyone willing to give it a try???
Scam.there are lots of "web stores" that offer such low prices.most of them in china.

Yes, but the stores in Chine offer their models, China made, for that reason they're cheap.
I'm looking to buy a HTC One Developer Edition in Canada. I recently just contacted HTC, and they can't ship to Canada, what bull****. But anyways, where can I find a Developer Edition that will ship to Canada? Cause I don't wanna pay way over $700, cause that's how much it is on HTC's website.

Some Canadians are buying through friends. Others have reported that VPN/Parcel Forwarding/US dollar Visa will work. I'm working on this issue now to see if I can get it working. I'll report back later if I can.

I have had luck. I went through HTC website and used a parcel forwarder.
Steps:
1) Get a US Dollar Visa - I used RBC which has a $65 annual fee. Some of the other banks have much cheaper cards, which you might want to look into.
2)Use a free VPN to get you to the checkout section of HTC's site. I didn't have to use a VPN to purchase on the HTC site, but I did use a free VPN which didn't support SSL on port 335 that the webstore uses. I just used the VPN to get me to the checkout stage and then I turned it off and completed the order.
3) Step up a parcel forwarding company and get a US address. I added the mailing address of my parcel forwarding company to my VISA. I then used a different address for my parcel forwarding company (by accident) and no one *****ed, which is odd.
4) A few days ago the phone arrived at the parcel forwarding company and we got it reshipped. Currently it's in customs somewhere and I should have it in about a week.
I think that the ordering criteria must have been relaxed a bit because I didn't have any trouble getting one of these shipped out. I didn't really use a VPN, I used the WRONG mailing address which wasn't on my brand new VISA, and I had a fight with the parcel forwarding company. All of this and the phone was shipped and then reshipped. Probably costs my another 100 bucks for the dev edition.
I used http://www.shipito.com/ for the forwarder. If you buy yourself it's postage + 4.3% of the postage + $8.50 USD to have the item reshipped. That worked out to 34 something for me (I pay a 2.50 instead of 8.50 because I bought the annual plan).
In total this cost me :
The VISA annual fee - 65
THe Parcel forwarding Annual fee - 50
The Postage et al - 34
The phone dev edition - 650
The visa and forwarding service I'll get lots of other mileage out of later.
If you happen to live in the Edmonton Area I can help you out, since there are some financial commitments of the VISA and parcel forwarding service you may not like. If you have any questions PM or post below.
Thanks for the info. I called HTC and asked them if id be able to ship to a hotel when I travel to the us, but they mentioned Id need a US credit card ( and also add the hotel to my cc). since I dont have a US visa, I couldn't order. I'm in Ottawa, but thanks for the offer. i'll see what my bank offers for US Visas, and see if I can have it shipped to a hotel i'll be at. If not I'll try as you suggested. I didnt even know parcel forwarding services existed.
Thanks again,
ck

There are charts that compare US Dollar VISAs. Here is one, there are a few others I have come across. I think I cheapest annual fees I have seen arr around 20 bucks...
http://www.milliondollarjourney.com/top-us-dollar-usd-credit-cards-in-canada.htm
This site is about a year old. I've read stuff on just getting a US VISA from a US bank in the states as well. There are some problems with that because the US uses a different credit rating system so you'd have zero history. I think you might need to have a SIN number equivalent down there as well. If you live close to the boarder getting the package is much much easier though. Most people just set up a mail box at a US post office and ship to it, travel across and pick up there goods. There are companies that specialize in this type of service actually. I don't live close to the boarder at all... (about a ten hour drive) so I don't have any recommendations. I just know I've come across them before online.
Im with RBC, but looks like the TD might be the best option. Thanks again for the info. Great community here.

No I wasn't able to order the HTC. When I called HTC they mentioned to just add an address I was visiting in the US as the billing and shipping address (hotel, family, etc). So before I did this I tried calling my credit card company to add one of those addresses as a billing address but they kept saying they were unable to do that. I tried a few times, but I think now there's probably a note on my file (whoops).
Hmmm that's odd. I had no problem adding addresses. I even added the wrong one and it still shipped, to an address that wasn't even on the card. Is it a US dollar visa?
I received my Glass invite last week and I have been searching for a way around the various geoblocking because I'm in Australia. I want to develop for Glass, but actually having the device (especially with the impending release of the official wearable SDK) will be of great help.
At this point, it appears that there are three hurdles to overcome. The first is easy, the store is geoblocked. Nothing a VPN can't fix. The second is harder, a US postal address which is not a post office box or remailing service. I'm told you need to sign for the package and provide matching ID to the name on the order. I'm getting around this with a friend 'ordering' it on my behalf.
The final hurdle, which I'm most unsure about and would like advice on, is the geoblocking of payment methods. It will only accept a US-issued cards. I was wanting to know if anyone has used EntroPay before to get around this and if it can cause issues? They also charge a huge 5% in fees.
Can anyone see any issues or make any other suggestions in regards to my dilemma?

International wire transfers are a pain and he doesn't have paypal.
I also thought of another potential issue:
It is probable that Google will refresh the hardware at least once more, so returning it from Australia within the 2 week timeframe they had last time could also be problematic.
I was under the impression that, because they were using google wallet payment wasn't an issue for overseas cards. This may put a spanner in my plans. I also got an invite code and i'm in the UK. Also I thought re-delivery was fine just P.O. boxes out. I f that's the case then i'm completely screwed .
