[Q] Optimus 2x, BB,Ril,Rom ?? - LG Optimus 2x

Hi Guys,
I'm currently running the lastest CM Nightly and have never changed Baseband or Kernel.
The question is should i? and is there a better rom to be using?

Hi!
I believe you've got a good ROM now. The latest CM nightly is pretty good I think so there is no need to change that. (Although, you could try Temaseks CM7 KANG, but that's just my opinion , link in signature btw)
BB is another story though. You should ask yourself: Do I have good signal and call quality? If so, then there's no need to change it. At least I wouldn't change it. What I would try to change is your RIL (if it's necessary though). Download the GetRIL app on the market and let it check if your RIL and BB match. If they match then keep it that way . If not change it using that app.
Kernels on the other hand are optional. If you want to overclock your CPU, or if you want a ramhack then you should flash a kernel. Right now I believe you've got stock CM kernel on your phone, which is pretty good, but not the best. Take a look at the ETaNa Kernel thread, (link in signature) There you'll find more information about what this kernel does with your phone.
Oh and one more thing, you don't HAVE TO change your rom etc. I mean, it's not like we're forcing you to change it right? When you're happy with what you have right now, why don't you keep it like that? But, it's your choice obviously

cheers guys, where can i find the latest basebands as my call & signal quality isn't great

I think the first thing you should try (also because it's the easiest thing to do) is to get "GetRIL" app from gmarket or gplay or whatever it's called now and see if your RIL and BB match. If they don't, get the matching RIL and see if that has improved quality. If it has, great, no further action necessary... if it hasn't then you can proceed to experimenting with different BB

Also, not every BB works perfectly on every phone, country and provider... So yeah, as said before, first try a matching RIL and then look if you connection improves...

i've got the getril app and its showing that i dont have matching ril and bb but when i downloaded it to be matching and it actually caused me to drop more calls and have other problems,
restored so they arent matching but im getting better reception and generally internet works most of the time.
so my question whats the point of them both supposed to be matching?
LG 2x
Carphone warehouse open UK
unlocked
current ril 0218 (V10b, Europe)
current BB 1035.21_20111120
the app says i should get ril 1120 (v20l)
anyone have any better combo suggestions?

I suggest you just put that in. Nothing will gonna happen. If its worse than before you can put old RIL back anytime.

In the post that I have posted for the baseband are also the RIL to flash!

So, did you try to put this new RIL? Any improvements?

Like SP1996AC and I said, you should have started by changing only the RIL. This is the easiest of the operations and could have fixed your problem.
Like they say in America, you start by picking the low hanging fruit first.
You climbed the tree and found out that the fruit on the top wasn't good... now you have to climb down again and try the other fruit.

Thanks for the reply. I did try the suggested rail but it was worse which is why I went back to a mismatch. I will try the other combinations but at the moment its working OK so might stick to this until the weekend.
Thanks

You cannot match 521 on CM, that's correct.
Please read the FAQ here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047
When I flashed Temasek, my network signal was very poor and oscilative. The RIL recommended by GetRIL was horrible too, I had to test manually each RIL until I find a good one.
As it depends on your country and carrier, you'll probably have to do the same.

Check for tonyp's thread related to BB and questions about it in the DEV section.wil answer all your questions mate
I have same problem with latest CM 7.2.0 Rom and find solution with BB 120420 LGSU660AT-00-V20m-450-05-APR-20-2012+0.fls and RIL 405 BB you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047 kernel symbi0sis_kernel-1.1.zip you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835661 how it works so far good.
if everything is working then don't touch it. if you have problems with static noise during call then it's baseband problem - some of us had that, as cm7 overwrite your baseband with 218 one and not every phone is happy with that baseband. it's essential if you have nandroid of your original rom. reflash it and check which was your original baseband. then return back to CM7, find correct baseband (there's excellent thread by our local hero, tonyp. you have link in previous posts) and flash just a baseband. use getril to find correct RIL. or feel free to experiment with different basebands, but once again, if everything is working okay then don't touch it.
CM7 does not change your baseband, only the RIL.
As stated before, use Getril to make sure the baseband and RIL match. Only change your baseband if you're having battery/reception issues.

I noted that into the phone-info screenshots the amount of reported available ram can be different by some megabytes, sometimes it appears to be 420, sometimes 404 (mine has 404 mb of ram).
Is this dependent by the baseband/ril ?

I don't think so....
Yes, I found myself that the baseband is irrelevant to that.
I installed two different baseband and the amount of reported ram remained constant. Apparently the only parameter that can affect that is the ramhack parameter.

Wind O2X is actually a G2X aka a P999.
The CM10 ROM here is for the P990 which uses a different radio (850/1900 compatible)
If you look in the G2X section RC even posted there himself saying that he wasn't able to get CM10 to recognize the radio in the P999, though he had some good theories.
I'm actually impressed that people were able to get CM10 to boot at all on the P999 - everything works except the cell radio, lol.
edit: I just realized, what I said applies only to Ricardo Cerqueira's official CM10 build. If you downloaded one of the CM10 hackfests, make sure you got a P999-compatible one and also check the RIL.
Here is Ricardo's official statement on getting the cell radio to work in CM10 on the P999:
aremcee said:
I've been trying to get this to work for over half a year, so allow me to point you in the right direction:
At this stage, the problem has nothing to do with the RIL. Zero, zip, nada. You're not barking up the wrong tree, you're in the wrong forest entirely.
The kernel source is not compatible with the radio firmware the p999 has, and is therefore unable to enable the radio in the SPI bus. The main ttyspiX nodes don't answer, and the ptsX mux nodes are completely dead (check dmesg)
Until you get ttyspi0, ttyspi1, and the various ttys (starting with /dev/pts1) to answer, anything else is futile.

I dont think that is the problem, because I have tried to instally CM 7 for P999 also and it still give the same problem

Ah, if it happened on CM7, then you likely have a RIL and/or baseband issue. I don't know the exact details, but there are solutions on XDA for that, just gotta find them.
Still though, where did you get the CM10? Is it a hackfest build or the port of RC's official P990 ROM?
Not sure, just got it from the cyanogenmod site. cyanogenmod.org

Are you referring to CM7 or CM10?
If it's CM7 you downloaded, then GetRIL should be able to solve the problem.
If you downloaded CM10, I'm frankly quite surprised it even booted without any modification, but that's not going to get any cell signal whatsoever, nada.
I am referring to both, but i also tired GetRIL, it is also not working for me.

[Q] No GPS in Django Manouche x1.4

I didn't have any GPS problems with DM x1.3, but after flashing DM x1.4 GPS won't turn on (no small targeting circle icon in notification bar).
Normally, if you start any GPS-related app, small icon GPS icon would appear in notification bar. With DM x1.4 it does not happens - the icon never appear.
Any ideas what can be wrong?
I use DM x1.4, KoB 0.5 No OC kernel.

Thanks for helping.
Well, I could't flash another baseband with GetRIL, but I've flashed another RIL (there was two 30a RILs offered, the one that I already had, and some other 30a RIL). As that didn't helped, I've flashed my old RIL back, restarted the phone - and I got the GPS back
I've lost my settings in some of the apps I have. Dunno if that is the consequence of flashing the RIL, but it did happen. It isn't so important, I just wanted to mention it if anyone else get the same problem and want to try the same solution.

I don't want to sound rude but please refrain yourself from answering questions if you don't know what you're talking about. Misinformation can cause more harm than good. GetRIL only changes RILs (as its name implies), not basebands. Please stop by tonyp's sticky thread about Basebands and read it, you'll find it useful.
To the OP, try installing FasterFix from Playstore.

Problem solved, as I described in my previuos post.
My problem was not about getting GPS fix. In my case GPS didn't turn on at all (no small sniper icon in notification bar) no matter what I turned on or off from the related options.

Noisy Calls In Boypes CM7

Im currently using Boype's Modded CM7, and there is Really BAD Noise during calls.
I am Using V20G Indian Baseband,
When i flashed IZS v4, Without changing baseband, this problem was gone.
Please help ASAP as calls are really important!
If calls were important, why you don't just use IZS, since the problem isn't happening with it?
The ROM isnt as smooth as CM7 for me.
Im waiting for a few updates on IZS.
So, any fix?
Btw, what is strange is that only the other person hears the noise. I do not.

Noise in call was a known cm7 bug
So it can't be fixed, or is there any way? Cuz I can't get myself to leave this ROM lol
Did you updated Basebands that Boype put in First post?

Only change your baseband if you know what you are doing. The procedure is really simple and instructions are included in the zip file. Changing baseband will only affect baseband, your ROM / settings / apps will be unaffected.

Okay, ill try and let you know....
Okay, this issue was solved in a strange way.....the earpiece also stopped working...so I went to the lg service center and told him about this. He disassembled the phone, and checked the motherboard and told me that I would have to replace the motherboard to fix this problem...and I would have to come 2 days later as the part was not in stock..so he re assembled the phone and gave it to me, but when i made a call, voila! Earpiece working fine and absolutely no noise in call!
