I didn't have any GPS problems with DM x1.3, but after flashing DM x1.4 GPS won't turn on (no small targeting circle icon in notification bar).
Normally, if you start any GPS-related app, small icon GPS icon would appear in notification bar. With DM x1.4 it does not happens - the icon never appear.
Any ideas what can be wrong?
I use DM x1.4, KoB 0.5 No OC kernel.

Thanks for helping.
Well, I could't flash another baseband with GetRIL, but I've flashed another RIL (there was two 30a RILs offered, the one that I already had, and some other 30a RIL). As that didn't helped, I've flashed my old RIL back, restarted the phone - and I got the GPS back
I've lost my settings in some of the apps I have. Dunno if that is the consequence of flashing the RIL, but it did happen. It isn't so important, I just wanted to mention it if anyone else get the same problem and want to try the same solution.

I don't want to sound rude but please refrain yourself from answering questions if you don't know what you're talking about. Misinformation can cause more harm than good. GetRIL only changes RILs (as its name implies), not basebands. Please stop by tonyp's sticky thread about Basebands and read it, you'll find it useful.
To the OP, try installing FasterFix from Playstore.

Problem solved, as I described in my previuos post.
My problem was not about getting GPS fix. In my case GPS didn't turn on at all (no small sniper icon in notification bar) no matter what I turned on or off from the related options.

Hi Guys,
I'm currently running the lastest CM Nightly and have never changed Baseband or Kernel.
The question is should i? and is there a better rom to be using?
Hi!
I believe you've got a good ROM now. The latest CM nightly is pretty good I think so there is no need to change that. (Although, you could try Temaseks CM7 KANG, but that's just my opinion , link in signature btw)
BB is another story though. You should ask yourself: Do I have good signal and call quality? If so, then there's no need to change it. At least I wouldn't change it. What I would try to change is your RIL (if it's necessary though). Download the GetRIL app on the market and let it check if your RIL and BB match. If they match then keep it that way . If not change it using that app.
Kernels on the other hand are optional. If you want to overclock your CPU, or if you want a ramhack then you should flash a kernel. Right now I believe you've got stock CM kernel on your phone, which is pretty good, but not the best. Take a look at the ETaNa Kernel thread, (link in signature) There you'll find more information about what this kernel does with your phone.
Oh and one more thing, you don't HAVE TO change your rom etc. I mean, it's not like we're forcing you to change it right? When you're happy with what you have right now, why don't you keep it like that? But, it's your choice obviously

cheers guys, where can i find the latest basebands as my call & signal quality isn't great
I think the first thing you should try (also because it's the easiest thing to do) is to get "GetRIL" app from gmarket or gplay or whatever it's called now and see if your RIL and BB match. If they don't, get the matching RIL and see if that has improved quality. If it has, great, no further action necessary... if it hasn't then you can proceed to experimenting with different BB

Also, not every BB works perfectly on every phone, country and provider... So yeah, as said before, first try a matching RIL and then look if you connection improves...
i've got the getril app and its showing that i dont have matching ril and bb but when i downloaded it to be matching and it actually caused me to drop more calls and have other problems,
restored so they arent matching but im getting better reception and generally internet works most of the time.
so my question whats the point of them both supposed to be matching?

current ril 0218 (V10b, Europe)
current BB 1035.21_20111120
the app says i should get ril 1120 (v20l)
anyone have any better combo suggestions?

I suggest you just put that in. Nothing will gonna happen. If its worse than before you can put old RIL back anytime.

In the post that I have posted for the baseband are also the RIL to flash!
So, did you try to put this new RIL? Any improvements?
Like SP1996AC and I said, you should have started by changing only the RIL. This is the easiest of the operations and could have fixed your problem.
Like they say in America, you start by picking the low hanging fruit first.
You climbed the tree and found out that the fruit on the top wasn't good... now you have to climb down again and try the other fruit.

Thanks for the reply. I did try the suggested rail but it was worse which is why I went back to a mismatch. I will try the other combinations but at the moment its working OK so might stick to this until the weekend.

I have same problem with latest CM 7.2.0 Rom and find solution with BB 120420 LGSU660AT-00-V20m-450-05-APR-20-2012+0.fls and RIL 405 BB you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658047 kernel symbi0sis_kernel-1.1.zip you will find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835661 how it works so far good.
if everything is working then don't touch it. if you have problems with static noise during call then it's baseband problem - some of us had that, as cm7 overwrite your baseband with 218 one and not every phone is happy with that baseband. it's essential if you have nandroid of your original rom. reflash it and check which was your original baseband. then return back to CM7, find correct baseband (there's excellent thread by our local hero, tonyp. you have link in previous posts) and flash just a baseband. use getril to find correct RIL. or feel free to experiment with different basebands, but once again, if everything is working okay then don't touch it.
CM7 does not change your baseband, only the RIL.
As stated before, use Getril to make sure the baseband and RIL match. Only change your baseband if you're having battery/reception issues.

I noted that into the phone-info screenshots the amount of reported available ram can be different by some megabytes, sometimes it appears to be 420, sometimes 404 (mine has 404 mb of ram).
Is this dependent by the baseband/ril ?

I don't think so....
Yes, I found myself that the baseband is irrelevant to that.
I installed two different baseband and the amount of reported ram remained constant. Apparently the only parameter that can affect that is the ramhack parameter.

Hi,
The automatic time not work properly in the last nightly of cm10. I need to know if its me or if its a bug from cm10
I did get this kind of problem with ZEUS rom when i was with my v20j baseband(1035.23_20110403). Now im on v10e baseband(1035.23_20110707) and auto time work perfectly with ZEUS
And i cant know if my cm10 RIL match with my baseband because that say unknown
thx
same here
I found that it always sets the TZ to GMT, i disabled the option to also fetch the TZ from the network, that worked for me
For me it actually adds 2 hours. It detects the time zone correctly but the clock is 2 hours in the future.
Happy to see im not the only one
I adjusted my time zone too but after reboot, time zone changed again lol I put it back to AUTO and now the time is ok
Hope that will be fixed, i use my cell for my alarm
Cm10 work with v20 ril... maybe need a v20 baseband
But strange, i was with a v20 baseband before and i got this problem with ZEUS based on v20... v10 baseband resolved my problem with zeus
Im testing now with v20n baseband
Got the same.
Anybody got this?
When looking in the facebook app I always see under a status: About 2 hours ago.
Maybe it's posted 5 minutes ago.
Tried to get v20n baseband but failed... Anyway i think its not a baseband issue... 07072011 is the lastest baseband for OB. So i think that will install an older baseband if i put v20n baseband
it's CM10 bug, will be fixed...

Just wanted to let everyone know that I ended up fixing this problem by downloading an app called Timezone Fixer which simply just resets and updates the logs. Just a warning, it says theres a small chance it can soft brick your phone.

You know that this a old thread and it was a baseband problem (or maybe a CM10 and baseband problem). Anyway since I have the v30 baseband there is no problem. OK what you tell will probably fix it too but a newer baseband might fix that and a few more problems, well if there is a newer baseband avivable in your region.

Yes was the same for me on v20o baseband (was on GMT and not on CET) but looks like it disappeared with v30b baseband. OK we know now a app that corrects it or you could do what I did just turn auto of and set it manually.

Im currently using Boype's Modded CM7, and there is Really BAD Noise during calls.
I am Using V20G Indian Baseband,
When i flashed IZS v4, Without changing baseband, this problem was gone.
Please help ASAP as calls are really important!
If calls were important, why you don't just use IZS, since the problem isn't happening with it?
The ROM isnt as smooth as CM7 for me.
Im waiting for a few updates on IZS.
So, any fix?
Btw, what is strange is that only the other person hears the noise. I do not.

Noise in call was a known cm7 bug

Only change your baseband if you know what you are doing. The procedure is really simple and instructions are included in the zip file. Changing baseband will only affect baseband, your ROM / settings / apps will be unaffected.

Okay, this issue was solved in a strange way.....the earpiece also stopped working...so I went to the lg service center and told him about this. He disassembled the phone, and checked the motherboard and told me that I would have to replace the motherboard to fix this problem...and I would have to come 2 days later as the part was not in stock..so he re assembled the phone and gave it to me, but when i made a call, voila! Earpiece working fine and absolutely no noise in call!
Since I got my i9070 I tried some roms: Pure Vanilla, LightJB, CM 10.1, CM 10.2, Omni
I read all these roms threads, and everything I found on the General section, and also other GPS posts I found on xda and google.
The thing is that with stock, Pure Vanilla and LightJB I had no problems with GPS, without caring of which stock I´d flashed first.
But when moving to CM 10.1, 10.2 or Omni, GPS just gets crazy. Very few times it fixes without problems, most of the times it takes 10 to 15 minutes to fix and sometimes it doesn´t even fix.
I tried with different gps.conf configurations and nothing changed, also with fasterfix, gps status, gps fix and so on... but it´s the same.
What I´m asking for is, as I´m not a developer and I don´t know anything about coding, is what else appart from gps.conf makes the gps work? Are there any files I can try from other roms to test if by replacing them I can get gps to work?
I´ll be more than happy to test anything to make GPS work stable.
More than Kit Kat, I´ll be very happy to have a custom rom, such as CM, working fully stable for my device.
Thanks indeed.
If gps is working for most of users, maybe it is not ROMs fault. Maybe you should try with some other firmware (other baseband than yours now). And do you wipe cache and dalvik cache? And do factory reset after ROM change? That is a must for avoiding strange problems.
If its a question, then threads always go in Q&A.
Development is for development, no exception.
EDIT - Ive cleaned the thread or edited posts, they were all off topic. No point stating rules when your breaking them yourselves.
Back on topic please
Thanks :good:
Try with other baseband now. See what will be.
P.S. We all would be very happy with fully stable CM, but if you follow anything about CM's - we do not have needed sources. Developers are patching stuff and make it usable as they can...

That´s the reason I made this thread.

Baseband doesn´t have to do only with mobile signal? What I knew is that baseband was for mobile and data signal but GPS is a separate thing. Because of this, we can have no phone signal at all, no A-GPS, but GPS working. Something useful for hiking far from cities for example.
