Whenever I open a page in internet browser and chat in IM app simultaneously I always either loose IM or the web. Sometimes this doenot happen but most of the time I'm suffering from this problem. I think most of the users of X8 have this problem whole lot of time. Don't we have any solution ?
And I have tried every kind of mods, all custom ROMs, all custom kernels. I have tried all of the available governors, CPU frequency setting, Compcache, JIT, VM heap, most of the availabe Modules and most of the RAM management applications too. Whenever I try these mods for the first time it shows good sign for one or two days then Gradually RAM decreases. And makes my phone laggy. After restart it again shows very good response again soon the problem happens.
As I'm newbie out here please suggest me with the best of the solution for my problem.

1st up do you have a TON of apps running and installed
2nd do you have ALOT of sms\text messages
3rd try these settings on any kernel + CM based Rom cpu @600 and max (whatever your phone can go recommend 748) with smartassv2 governor set compcache to 26% (little OTT but you can try it at 18%) enable JIT disable surface dithering and 16bit transparency make sure Allow purging of assets is disabled and set your VM heap size to 48m if you dont care alot for battery
4th make sure you got NO TASK MANAGER installed
let me know how this works out for you
use superuser, uninstall system apps that.you don't use.....use root explorer to delete apps in system/app
delete the synchronizing apps if you don't em ..

Hello evry one. I have problem in my captivate and other models of android. I installed almost every custom rom but problem of loading apps fast still exist. What i mean is.. that when i on my mobile, so first time apps like calender, messenging etc take a little time to load. than when i close the app and open again, it loads very quickly. When mobile goes to standby for more than 10 mins, and when i on it, it again take little time to load apps, and widget menu etc.
Why it is like that ??? and whats the solution to always load the apps quickly

It's how Android manages memory. It keeps your apps in memory until it needs to free some, at which point it starts to close apps to free some up. If they're already in memory they open fast because they're already open. If they aren't, they open more slowly.
There's not a ton you can do, really. Some 3rd party sms apps let you lock the app in memory, but I honestly never checked to see if it really works or not.
Personally, I restart my phone every morning when I wake up. This frees up the most memory and allows your phone to leave more apps open before closing them.
make sure you arent running any ****ty task killers.
You could flash an I9000 ROM/kernel that let's you tweak the lmk. (low memory killer)
Talon and semaphore both offer that option.
The trick is to make it weak enough to not kill the apps you want, but aggressive enough to not allow to run out of ram completely.
both of those kernels also have a "bigmem" version that gives the user a bit more ram at the cost of being able to record video in 720p.

I like ur answrr. But can u pls guide me abt lmk. I like this idea but never use such tweaks. I m using talon kernel right now and rom is much fast. But have same prb of apps loading
In the app memory freak, that installed with the kernel, there is a slider for you to adjust,
lower number the more aggressive the lmk but the better the overall performance.
Higher number is less aggressive and is better for multitasking, but can be a bit slower.

Where to find app memory freak ? i haven't seen any option in CWM
Should have been installed when you flashed talon. If not, it should be linked in the talon op.
Hi. I tried a few of ICS roms available for i9000 out there, and all of them are pretty fast, much better than I expected. The only issue I have with any ICS rom I've recently tried is that they close apps in background quite often. For example, I might open my Opera Mobile, switch to SMS app, send a message, and then when I return Opera has to start over and load all the pages again. Does it happen to You as well? As a comparison, I tested it with a 2.3.4 MIUI rom I had as a Nandroid backup, and it's much better - most apps stay open in background for a longer time.
Is it possible that ICS has that bigger of a memory footprint over Gingerbread? What are your opinions on that? Experienced similar issues? Any workarounds?

Try using less widgets. Don't use apps like Facebook. Check push notification services of some apps.
Also, i seem to remember that Opera Mobile tends to "forget" loaded pages very quickly, if you don't come back to the app quite fast...
You can also try and check under settings > developer options > see if you have checked "don't keep activities" and under "background process limit" choose "standard limit"
Since I'm only getting advice, I take it I'm the only one having this problem? Strange. The only widget I have on my desktop is the stock ICS analog clock widget, and there is no such thing as "Developer options" in my Opera Mobile.
Right now I'm using AOKP rom b27, there is an option called "Free memory - Amount of RAM the minfree taskkiller will keep". I tried to change it to max possible - 100MB, didn't change anything.
Is you are using ICS roms, you never had such issues? Which roms do you use?
PS Could a different kernel make it better?
Opera uses alot of memory and the phones memory is very limited. Doesn't matter the ROM it will often get closed when you leave it to do other things.
BTW increasing the memory the OS keeps free makes it worse, how do you think it frees memory? By closing things. You actually want to decrease the memory it keeps free to try and help with this. The downside is that the phone will probably lag more and I have found it doesn't help much.
I'll try to use the stock browser. As to that task manager setting:
The description says:"Amount of RAM the taskkiller will keep", so I have no idea if it means keeping some RAM available at all times or is it the amount of RAM that can't be cleared.

It is never the amount of RAM that can not be cleared it is the amount of RAM to keep free. ie if you set 64MB Ram to be kept free Taskkiller will keep that amount of memory free by killing the oldest non active task/process
I noticed that some applications keep running on background despite how many times i kill them. Worst is the Facebook that with Facebook Messenger and Facebook camera take a lot of ram or some games that keep auto-running. Is there any way to stop it?
I freeze this application and unfreeze them when i want to use them but isn't there a way to make this easier since our device gets pretty slow when a lot of ram is reserved. Would a RamHack help? I've read that auto-kill application aren't a very good idea. I am using etana kernel and have as LMK Mode str, should i change it to aggr or extr? What would be the loss and what the gain?
Jus leave it... these apps r persistent.
Killing it will only restart again.
Dun use any killapps, it may lead to bsod
Ramhack 32 or Max 48 to keep all function working.

After flashing a rom onto my LG P990 it works flawlessly-everything is nuttery smooth, fast and reliable but after some uptime and few days of using it suddenly starts to lag. It really pisses me off since P990 is quite powerfull when it comes to specs but my friends Galaxy S somehow maintains it's performance.
So the question is how to make sure that my phone will not reduce it's performance so drastically over time?
I'm runnig latest Temasek's KANG and ETaNa's latest beta kernel with 1,4GHz OC.
Do you have alot of apps installed?
Try to see how much RAM usage you have on boot and after it starts to drop performance.
Yeah I read somewhere that there is a memory leak problem with the o2x...restart your phone once in 3 days..things should be fine
Rebooting doesn't help. If it did I would assume that it's simply because an app/apps is causing the drop and then I would try to find it. I do have a lot of apps on my phone but most of them shouldn't be running by themselves in the backgroud (mostly games and such).
I have same problem (on ICS ROMs). After flash, everything is fast, after few days....I have to wait for call for 30 sec....horrible...
I have noticed that problem witch made me a flashaholic .. you could begin with deleting facebook app, messenger and google plus (drainers) then dl rom manager and set in on hard gaming , worked ok for me
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
Also I have a major USB issue. Almost always after turning off storage mode the phone just hangs and I have to remove the battery to restart it. Sometimes it even reboots by itself while transfering files.
Memory leak... If this problem annoys you flash a stock froyo rom or cm based rom..
Have been using CM7 for probably 12 months, but the performance in the last few weeks seems to have got much worse....
i think it could be a baseband issue...I am ...during the verification of the existing problem ...
Since rebooting and installing the tweakaio.zip with lagfree patch for my kernel everything seems better. Not freshly-flashed good but much better.
I don't have any problems with my O2X. It runs buttery-smooth even after two weeks without rebooting. However, the internal IO does get pretty slow after a while. It's nothing too dramatic though.
Heres my recommendation;
Latest Temasek ROM & Kernel
Use the built-in ramhack (this really helps alot!)
Using TitaniumBackup, freeze un-needed apps or uninstall them (be careful with this, make backups. This is mainly meant for system apps that you don't need, i.e. Car Home so they won't fill up your RAM unnecessarily)
Using Autorun Manager just prevent most apps from auto-starting themselves.
Optional; let a task manager kill apps for you periodically. I always read that it's not good to use task managers but I never seem to have any problems with them. I've got 200MB RAM free all the time, even after several days of usage. To prevent killing specific apps just add them to the ignore list of your task manager.
You could also use the lagfree + dalvik cache fix by tonyp and adjust the LMK values.
This setup is working perfectly fine for me, just try it out yourself.
Edit: I also have to note that I don't have many apps installed. Just the things that I really need such as AlarmDroid, the XDA Premium App (!), PimpMyCpu, etc.

I never listen to music on my phone so I can't help you out with that. Try a different kernel?
Thats it,last time i've been triying multiple roms wich are full perfomance like CM7 Droid Ace,Stock Revoultion Light V3,SGSII v10,and many more, actually im on sperience and i have same issue, wich could be the problem? there are my overclock settings
I use 245-864 smartassv2 noop i/o
ram booster to clean up under 40mb
ram manager
tweaks
also i only have 30 apps installed with int2ext+
nothing else, and my phone lags like a hell,i've read some people that have over than 60 apps and their phones still lag-free
I have tried adrenaline engine, lagfree script,slaidmod,slaidyboost,v6 supercharger ( obviosly not all togheter :dumb but in any case i cant get lagfree phone,i know it isnt the best phone but is there a way to have it without lags? help me plz..
You don't need any RAM managing scripts/apps/whatever.
All they do is actually slow it down, as when you open apps, they're stored in RAM so you can open them again later. If you clear RAM all the time, you'll have to load the app every time you want to open it.
Depending on your launcher, this may be a problem with scrolling lag too.
My advice is just remove any RAM managing...stuff.
I'm using Wp7 extreme rom its modified to the Max with visuals and IV got 15 apps on top of that, I haven't even over clocked it and its still smooth and fast with no lag and IV got 1gb partition, the rom it self sorts the has built in app2sd, not the app, it also comes with ram manager what I haven't used yet so maybe try this rom and also try clearing cache on all the apps this has a massive impact on performance

You don't need a ram manager, huh? So when you have 50+ apps and 25MB ram left with your phone TRYING to crawl through whatever you're doing, what will you do? Close them all up one by one to free up ram?
Amazing how all these devs make ram managers just for show, huh. They must be pretty bored.

The Ace can't run anything COMPLETELY lag-free because of it's lack of hardware. I've tweaked my phone to the max and it's already as "lag-free" as it can get. And it STILL has its slowdown moments. Don't feel bad, it's not just your phone.
