Hi, i was also having the same issue when i purchased my gnote. i format it several time and updated it to final version 4.0.4. but MTP error was still scratching my head. Finally i got the solution. Keep it in mind that there is no problem with your PC neither with gnote. the main culprit is the APPS which you would have downloaded that prevent gnote to get connected to the PC due to some crappy security reasons. Do this to solve the issue:
1. go to settings>security>device administrators.
2. delete what ever is the device administrator since it is creating problem in your note due to some security reasons.
3. BOOM problem solved.
Now connect your gnote to PC. KIES will detect it and you are done.
Regards,
VRS
same problem..used the windows update to install driver from ms, works fine :victory:

Anyone, please help me fix the MTP issue on my note N7000. I bought the phone without the original usb cable and I had to buy a universal one, so I could connect it to my computer. So, I connected my phone to my laptop, then some drivers started to install. 3 of them had been installed, nut the MTP failed..I tried to reinstall all of the drivers, although I had been using another galaxy note before this one, but nothing worked...Now, when I connect the phone to my computer it shows "connected as media device", the computer sees the phone, but when I try to enter the SD or external SD card, it stucks and won't open...I need to fix this problem because I want to flash the phone via ODIN and won't work this way....please help me!!!

i have send it back to samsung earlier last year for reinstallation due to software corrupt.
should i send it back? or just diy reformat?
Have you tried switching the usb to another port? But when you do this do a reboot on your pc before connecting fone usb to pc

n7000 driver installation problem
i found a solution for galaxy n7000 MTP driver installation problem. be sure that you installed right driver for your device and restarted ur pc. you correctly chose these:
enter UART mode with *#9090# and select "Log via UART"
then
enter *#7284# and select "UART MODEM" and select "USB PDA".
then go to settings on ur phone choose more settings, usb utilities(set usb cable connection mode). you should remove your cable and then you should press connect storage to PC and then connect your cable. and choose turn on USB storage. and it should connect to pc now. and you can easily copy your folders etc..
im happy to solve this problem. i am fed up to use other tools to copy my documents

but after that still your pc didnt recognize your driver. plss find your unrecognized driver on driver administrator.make disable it and then make it enable. then click scan your driver changings. (you can also try to update your driver)it should find installed driver and your pc would need restart. after restart try these:

i solved it after 8 months..i tried lots of things. i have changed my usb port before.. but i had same problem..and i put back my old port.. but be sure that origin of the problem is settings

Hey Guys,
Firstly just got my captivate a couple of days ago and i am still struggling to get to install drivers and have my pc detect the phone. I am totally new to android (coming from iphone)... there might be some obvious things that I might be missing here...
Here is what has happened so far
I have pretty much tried all the drivers on the web and I am still unable to see the drives on my PC. Driod explorer is unable to detect the phone. Device manager is showing a USB device by the name "SAMSUNG Android USB Composite Device".
In the phone i have enabled usb debugging. Once the cable gets connected, I also open notification and enable USB storage.
I am still not able to see the drive or have any applications in my pc detect the phone. What am i missing?
A simple usb device installation has never given me so much trouble. Starting to get frustrated.
Appreciate any pointers in resolving this issue.
Thanks
So you chose "Mass Storage" in settings? And once you connected, pull down the drop down men you, press USB, and then press the "Mount" button?
Mine worked just fine on WinXP and Win7 64 bit once I enabled mass storage and then confirm "Mount" each time you connect.
yes I did choose mass storage option & mount it.
I am able to see the usb drives in windows xp. But cant resolve the issues with win 7 64bit. I am using the following drivers

I know a few people who had connections problems too. They were able to fix it using this driver: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/MOBILES/Samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S-USB-Driver-for-Windows-x64.shtml
Some others were also able to do it using the Samsung Kies program.
Just one thing, though. You said in your post you're selecting 'Mass Storage'. Did you try selecting 'Kies' (this is even without installing the Kies program)? Try doing that. Also, try having USB debugging off when you perform the aforementioned test.
All I can get with debugging on or off and mass storage is this

no matter what drivers i use. I cant mount it on Windows 7 but I can on vista
My desktop is running Windows 7 64-bit, and I couldn't get it to recognize my phone for anything, even with the drivers from Samsung. The computer doesn't even pick up the phone as a device, much less one it recognizes. I had to use my netbook (Windows 7 32-bit/Linux) to do all my phone-related hacking stuff.
I'm using Win 7 64-bit and here's what I did after reading some suggested steps in another thread:
Install Samsung Kies first, before ever connecting the phone.
Run the program, then connect the phone to a USB port on the motherboard. Not one on the front of the case.
Windows SHOULD start installing the drivers.
I think I selected the Kies option on the phone the first time. Three or four different drivers were installed I believe. When I connected the phone again and selected Mass Storage, two or three different drivers were installed by Windows.
Does this mean I have proper drivers:?
Hi guys,
I just bought a new hp computer with win 7 64 bit os. I am able to use microsoft synctoy to syn itunes to my cappy. Does this mean that I have the proper usb drivers installed on my computer for my phone. I was thinking about rooting my phone and wanted to have the correct drivers installed.
Thanks, I consider myself a newby to the forum and to rooting, so any help would be appreciated.

Has any headway been made on this as I just got windows 7 64 bit, and am having a similar problem. Tried various drivers and whatnot but still cant seem to get the usb to mount like a flash drive. It is being recognized and can receive commands like reboot into download mode from AOI toolbox, but no mounting.. Kinda driving me up the wall bc Ive been stuck on the same rom for a few weeks now and Im itching to get back to flashing all the fresh new cm7 stuff out and just in general new roms.
The newest Kies will install a driver pack when you download it now.
MAkE SURE YOU REMOVE ANY SAMSUNG DRIVERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY INSTALLED
1.) download the newest Kies http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as?COUNTRY_CODE=CAN&LANGUAGE_CODE=ENG
2.) Install it. While it's installing it will install a driver pack.
3.) Plug your phone in.
This works for X64. I just used it on my own pc last week.

Turn on USB Debugging.
Lol I know how to enable USB debugging man. What I'm saying is windows wont allow it to mount for some strange reason. Going to try the kies driver mentioned earlier. Maybe that will work.
So I tried the kies drivers, and Im getting the same problem. The drivers will install and it will even trick me by showing the removable letters for my storage, but then after a second or so they disappear. When looked at under device manager they are just shown as unknown device. I just wanna backup my data like I used too.

I definitely don't want to insult anyone's intelligence here (which usually means I am going to). i assume we've tried restarting the computer again.....a couple of times.......and if that doesn't work, then manually uninstalling all the drivers which have been installed so far and then starting over using just kies?
Yea, all those mentioned have been tried.

okay...
So i was able to connect to my Win 7 64 bit computer for a little while ... had to in order to update to Mini Keis 2.2 (ran into problems there but fixed it <if you have questions about it PM me>)
But now that i am in 2.2 i am not able to connect. I get an error saying drivers could not be installed. I have uninstalled the original drivers and installed the ones from AT&T and also tried the ones from Samsung... still same problem. Does anyone one have an idea as to what i can do to solve this problem.
Thanks to any one who can help
I've had luck by doing the following:
Had my phone plugged in - it went fubar - computer didn't recognize the phone.
Re-installed USB drivers (ones Design Gears posted and the ones linked in the Q&A sticky btw) over the top of the existing drivers with the phone plugged in - USB De-Bugging on.
Rebooted PC - winblows found the phone and everything was peachy. Windows 7 64 is definitely nice - but still has issues with detecting drivers and USB devices sometimes. Its still Windows after all
If it works on another PC than you know its a software issue with windows.
If your still getting the same error on another PC - then its possible that your internal card might be fubar.
Well I have tried EVERYTHING. Multiple drivers, uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, usb debugging on/off, flashed to stock....Nothing. Windows 7 64bit. I hate hate hate you and hope you die of viral infection.
hi, i installed paranoidandroid ics yesterday and it's working very nicely, but then i find it's only mtp so i installed usb mode switch app choose mass storage, rebooted, mass storage worked but copying is so slow, so i reverted back to mtp and uninstalled the app but then windows started to show "hardware id missing" message
i uninstalled kies and installed naked drivers from here, it worked but then the mtp mode is not functioning properly and the device shows no folders in it, so i removed it and installed kies again but the "hardware id missing" returned.
what should i do ?

There's also a "Samsung USB Driver" installed with KIES..
Un-install this from Add/Remove Programs.
You can also Open Device Manager and un-install the Samsung device from there which will force them to be picked up again..
tried everything, nothing, i installed the drivers alone from dr.ketan's thread and still when connecting in mtp mode this message appears
i changed the mode to mass storage from paranoidandroid settings, but i don't know why the copying speed is this slow (1.4MB/s)
so to sum up:
when mtp was working ... copying speed was fine
mtp stopped
mass storage works fine but it's slow
How about checking your device if it has a hardware id?
Also search on preconditions updatability and kies. You will find my post.
Did you try in kies pc connection troubleshooting?
Also did you make efs backup of mint factory condition phone?

yes i made an efs backup before installing paranoidandroid
i disabled debugging, and nothing changed
EDIT: i tried now while the note is connected, switched the mode to mtp, windows installed the driver again(i don't know why because it was already installed) and the folder appeared ... copying speed is a little slower than before though
i'm afraid to install kies right now it might mess things up
yeah network troubleshooting is a bliss. Sometimes for no apparent reason its needed.
Sometimes jumpstarting from phone settings, storrage setting usb mass mode works. Depends on rom and unknown to me variables.

ok here isyour answer.
im guessing you have a windows pc?
samsung put out a driver update for the computer that caused the error.
only way i found to fix the problem is to do a system restore back a few days before the update.
my update was automatic, im going to see if i can stop that update from happening for now..
ic you can call samsung and make them aware like i did...
I found the solution on a thread for the Samsung Galaxy S II: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837434
Basically the windows update downloads an old/non-working driver, so either uninstall and re-install Kies with the Samsung USB drivers and make sure your internet is off and it should work when you reconnect or just uninstall the drivers and install the Samsung driver seperately from here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=170044&t=4&i=1 with the internet off afterwards, connect phone and it works.
I did complain to Samsung about this and got a really useless reply as if I didn't even know how to install Kies or anything. Searching Google also took quite a long time to find the solution.
At least I am now I can download the new update that came just today with extra features like S3 style ui, 3D gallery and general speed improvements.
Hey there, this is what i did. works for galaxy note, and practically any other samsung device there is.
This happened to me since I updated Kies. What works for me:
Unplug device from usb cable
Go to settings -> more (below data usage) -> USB Utilities -> connect storage to PC -> OK -> Turn on USB Storage
Windows now does recognise the phone and you can browse the phone as a drive. Kies will give you an error.
Turn off USB Storage, disconnect the phone.
Take out the USB cable and put it back in and Windows should detect the phone properly now and Kies will recognise it too.
Good luck!
Hope it helped you! Lol specially created an account to post this hahaha

any updates to this? My i717 note does this on my home PC (Win 7 Ultimate x64), but works properly on my office machine (Win 7 Pro x64).
I solved this problem with my Note just by connecting it once in Recovery mode & letting it install the drivers, & once again connecting my Note in Download Mode & again letting it install the required drivers. When my Note restarted, No Hardware ID missing notification...!!!

For a detailed understanding of the USB connector and pin-out look in Wikipedia USB
Strangely, too many users seem to be getting connection problems lately due to various activities they had, some even by just charging it overnight...and solutions for them are also unique and never the same
Be aware that USB Slots (misaligned/damaged contacts) and USB cables can fail of a sudden, USB cables do get damaged often and can be the root cause of the problem . Using NON Compatible USB cable is another. Here is another XDA members findings about usb cables
First Step :-
1) Check phone USB slot for contacts/connection problems
Some get misaligned others gets damaged internally, and others somehow moved and needed a nudge to connect, so clean them, just to be sure. Follow this guide
How to clean micro USB port
How to fix looseness.
Cleaning the USB slot and contacts will surely help as the Galaxy S model USB slot is prone to moisture as well as dirt retention, where users have complained about failure to charge or overheating when charging in colder regions. So a blow dryer may do wonders at times like this
Even IF your USB cable can charge the phone, data connection contacts could have been lost due to internal pin damage as I have personally experienced it , not to forget misaligned pins on the micro B slot itself experienced by others.
USBDeview (attached below) is a small utility that lists all USB devices that currently connected to your computer, as well as all USB devices that you previously used. For each USB device, extended information is displayed: Device name/description, device type, serial number (for mass storage devices), the date/time that device was added, VendorID, ProductID, and more... USBDeview also allows you to uninstall USB devices that you previously used, and disconnect USB devices that are currently connected to your computer. You can also use USBDeview on a remote computer, as long as you login to that computer with admin user.
Use it to check and remove any USB device not in use or in use that may be causing conflicts
2) If phone is not being detected of a sudden (Quick Guide)
1. Reboot PC after a power cord pull and Reboot Phone after a Battery Pull , try USB connection
2. Try using a different Samsung USB cable (must be sumsung and nothing else)
3. Try a different USB port (use USB slots at the back of PC)
4. Try on a lap top or different PC
5. Try install nexus drivers - needed for ICS firmwares
6. Make sure you don't have fast charge on.
7. Try moving the USB plug slightly, sideway or back and front, whilst connected to PC
8. Toggle WIFI and OFF it , reboot phone, check connection
Trick
1. Turn ON Bluetooth with "make my device discoverable" checked
2. Connect the USB cable from the computer to the phone
3. you will get this message: " if you elect to use USB your Bluetooth connection will be interrupted - OK?"
4. Touch OK and connection problem is solved
3) Re Install the Samsung USB Driver or according to your manufacturer Drivers Android USB Drivers - Universal Installer or other Devices download from here or Android OEM Drivers here
Changes of ROM, also have configuration changes on the phone, (just like changes in combo key functions) ...so driver changes works for some
Trick Putting your Phone into download mode and connecting it with USB cable to PC will do it automatically. Meaning drivers will be installed by windows If there are none.

To enter USB Mass storage mode ...touch menu > settings > wireless and network > USB utility to connect
To enter Debug Mode ....touch menu > settings > Applications >Development > Tick USB debugging
Setting up USB Drivers
Assuming you already had installed samsung USB drivers in your PC or KIES had been installed and still getting "Unknown USB Device"
According to Microsoft, the main reason for Unknown Device to display in your Device Manager is because you have a device that is not working correctly. To fix this issue, obtain an updated driver for the device.

Solutions
The Main solution off-course is to Reinstall the required Drivers
You should uninstall all the samsung USB drivers and reinstall the same and simply reboot your PC and let it re detect the required device driver for your USB device.
If unresolved, you can also try the following steps:
Go to your Device Manager
Right-click the Unknown USB Device
Click Properties
Click Driver tab
Click Uninstall
Click OK
Reboot your PC
Check if it already detects the Device
Others methods to solve this :-
1) UNPLUG your PC , meaning shutdown your PC and pull out its power cord, give it a rest about few minutes, than replug and start your PC... try a different USB slot, don't use any other USB device and make sure KIES is not running or better still uninstall KIES altogether IF you are using Odin
Same is true for your phone too, as KIES itself would request you to reboot your phone, when it troubleshoots connection problems. powering the device down completely, plugging it into USB, then powering it on. Windows should find the correct drivers for it.
Check if this works, If it fails
2) Delete the "Unknown device from the USB list" in your Device Manager (Win XP 32bit) and re-connected your phone again into a different USB port , windown will install the required drivers
Check if it works, If it fails
3) Suggest you enter control panel and uninstall , KIES as well as samsung USB drivers from your PC, reboot your PC after uninstallation , than connect your phone using usb cable, let windows search for the driver by itself and install by itself...If all goes well you should be able to use odin ( once windows confirms installing the required driver)
You must allow a few minutes for windows to install all the required drivers, so be patient here.
In the event windows cannot locate samsung usb drivers , you can help by installing the drivers you downloaded earlier
For Vista x64 users , this is also an option http://cagnazzo.name/drupal/vista_corrupted_driverstore
4) At times just plugging in the USB into one slot than changing to another slot (when it fails) had resolved this issue for some or you can do the same by Entering *#7284# in your phone dialer, For usb. select the PDA. if it already selected to PDA. reselect it by selecting MODEM and then PDA again.. Only change the USB setting.. and then press back.
5) Not to Forget a guide to MTP device Fix download PDF
6) For the RAPI.dll problem
For windows 7 (and probably for vista also):
Go to C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Temp\KiesInstall\CabFile\OsDependen t\[Vista/XP]\Program Files\Common Files\Samsung\DeviceService
Copy the two .cab files and paste them on your desktop.
Click two times on them and take the .dll files inside them. So,
paste only the two .dll files in the Kies installation Path (C:\Program Files \Samsung\Kies\)
Now it should work
better to put in these folders also
program files/samsung/Usb drivers
program files/common files/Samsung/DeviceService
For XP:
Open the following folder: "program files/common files/Samsung/DeviceService"
Search for _rapi.dll and _ceutil.dll and copy to desktop
Rename the dlls removing the "_"
Drop the "rapi.dll" and "ceutil.dll" (renamed) into following folders:
program files/samsung/Kies
program files/samsung/Usb drivers
program files/common files/Samsung/DeviceService
In my own experience, even when it gets resolved today, it can crop up some-other day , so it helps in knowing all the possibilities as to why connections with USB cable can be tricky for some.
Lastly in my personal experience I found that using My phoneexplorer ( in WIFI or Blue Tooth modes) was far much more easier than KIES for File transfers and using Odin3 was far much more easier than Kies for Flashing
4)If nothing worked than its a hardware problem, so look at
USB port voltage and charging solution
USB Pin out link broken internally
Finally when there is no choice but to replace the micro USB slot.
How to replace USB port

I just bought a brand new galaxy 8 small model and I can't get the micro usb in the phone
Hi all,
I really need your help, my computer doesn't recognize the phone in fastboot, I've installed different drivers and none of them work, in device manager it appears as Android with the yellow exclamation mark. I've already enabled USB Debugging mode, not sure what am I missing, please help.
Check in another USB Port, use original xiaomi's wire...and install latest USB drivers
I have the same problem, i'm using the original xiaomi wire and already installed lastest usb drivers.. the fact is that when I plug in the cell phone in fastboot mode the computer keeps sounds as connecting and disconnecting the device (I used two wires and two different computers)
Yup exact same thing, I hope somebody knows how to fix it and help us out.
Try with mi flash tool software for the computar... And let the program install the original firmware again... I think you can get rid of the problem

Hi, where do I get the USB drivers? Even the official website says to make sure that "your PC has necessary drivers", but they don't provide any link where you can get them.
The Unlock Tool only has a "Check" button next to the version number, which says "5.5.224.24(Already latest)" and again, no drivers check. There are tons of fishy websites that claim to have the drivers and I have already tried several of them, but no success. Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi, after almost 2 days of constant researching and trying and failing and testing, I have finally figured it out! You need two things: MediaTek Driver and disabling Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows 10. It's because normally, the (64-bit) Windows 10 system won't allow you to install an unsigned driver and the Mediatek Driver is unsigned.
Here are the steps:
1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, open PC settings
2. Go to Update & Security
3. Go to Recovery tab
4. Press & hold Shift key on your keyboard and click the Restart now button (in the Advanced startup section)
5. Select Troubleshoot ->Advanced setup -> Startup Settings and press Restart
6. Press 7 number key corresponding to "Disable driver signature enforcement" entry.
The system will now boot with the Driver Signature Enforcement disabled (it's going to be automatically enabled with the next restart). Download the Mediatek Driver (official source), unzip the file. Here's how I installed the driver:
1. Press the Windows key, type Device Manager and open the utility program
2. Click the top item in the list (your PC's name) and click Action in the menu and select Add Legacy Hardware.
3. Click Next in the Wizard, select Install hardware manually, and again Next and Next again.
4. Click Have Disk, Browse, navigate to the unzipped folder: SmartPhoneDriver > x64 > Unsigned infs and select the file android_winusb.inf. Click OK and select Media Tek Inc. in the left pane and then Next and Finish.
Your phone will now finally appear in the Unlock Tool.
This should work for all Note 10s users who also happen to have a 64-bit Windows 10 machine. Let me know how it went for you.
hey Guys, i´m new in the forum. But i had the same problem and i´m bringing the solution.
This error happens because Windows doesn´t recognize the bootloader, then you must install manually the bootloader´s driver and connect again your phone, so simple. I´m attaching the driver in this post.
Cheers.
download google usb driver: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
connect phone to pc in fastboot mode. then go to device manager and update related driver named: android.
choose have disk and select Android_USB.inf file. then highlight Android bootloader interface and install driver. in win 10 must disable driver signature verification

After searching for a long time, I found that this is the solution that works 100%. At last I was able to register the unlock of the bootloader today after a week of searching how to do it, since the driver did not work, thank you.
Hello.
I want to transfer files from Windows to Pixel 7 via USB but unfortunately I can't. When I set MTP/PTP on my phone it start disconnecting and connecting endlessly (I hear the sound from Windows).
There are two devices in Devices Manager that seems to be associated with Pixel: Android Composite ADB Interface (listed as Android Device, not LeMobile) and so-called "external Bluetooth device" (deleted it many times, it appears automatically when phone is plugged). However Pixel is listed as Unknown device in "Devices and Printers".
I have USB-C male to male cable only. I don't have USB-A to USB-C cable so I can't test it. And I don't want to buy any new cables just to see the issue is still present.
Tested the USB-C port in my laptop to check if it doesn't support file transfer - it worked on another cable with my old phone.
Tested the USB-C port in Pixel - I managed to transfer files from old phone to Pixel via USB cable so it's working as well.
Same effect with cable added to phone and the bought one.
Tried to manually remove & install Google USB drivers, ADB etc. - only ADB seems working.
Any tips?

Airdroid. No need for a cable.
When you put the USB mode to "No data transfer" does it still disconnect on you?
(You still should have the ADB working. Try adb shell and a bunch of ls -l)
If the MTP makes it stutter it could be a problem with MTP or simply that MTP does more traffic and is uncovering lower level problems.

When you're connected to Windows over the USB cable and the phone is in Fastboot Mode, is the Android Bootloader Interface driver listed in Device Manager? If not, replace what's listed under Android with Google's USB driver while still in Fastboot Mode, then reboot the phone. If Windows USB drivers are complete and the cable is good, you should only need to enable File transfer under Settings/Connected devices/USB to manage files between Windows and Android.

You could also check when your phone is connected to the pc,, under windows update, advanced option, view optional updates updates,, to see if there are any drivers it wants to install

No, phone is charging and debugging is enabled so that I see two notifications.
Tried the first command and phone started disconnecting just like with MTP enabled. ADB had stopped working.

Yeah I noticed LeMobile drivers are available to download. There is Android Composite ADB device listed as "LeMobile" but ADB still not fixed.
And it seems like I'm back to sqaure one because there's the very first issue I had: after choosing MTP on my phone all options become gray and it returns back to "only charging" after few seconds. Sometimes it even starts disconnecting/connecting.
Yeah it seems something is particularly wrong with my home PC because MTP works flawlessly with my work PC. Didn't have to install any drivers etc.

That's a good thought but I'll bet it's a Windows driver. Happened to me some years ago and I had to manually install an .inf in the windows directory. So long ago but maybe something like wmf.inf not sure. I'll try to root around (no pun) see if I can find it again.

I'll just try clean installing Windows when I get a time.

That could be the one. If I recall correctly, I had to uninstall the driver that had the exclamation mark in device manager and then find the .inf file in win directory, right click it and install. But this was literally 5 years ago or close to it so perhaps it's dated. But that could be the one. I searched and there are a bunch of "solutions" out there and I hope you find the correct one before you have to reinstall the whole darn OS. I'll keep looking though. I was so frustrated by it I wanted to throw the laptop out the windows. lol. I still think it's one pesky driver.
I would grab VMWare Player and install Windows there honestly rather than reinstall Windows. Or grab a Linux distro ISO like Mint that comes with MTP drivers and will mount your Windows drive as read only and boot it from a USB stick. Sucks to completely reinstall Windows just to get MTP functionality.

At least I would try a USB A-C first. And the thing is it might not fix the problem with the reinstall. I'd fight this one tooth and nail until I figured it out. Damn drivers.

I mean I probably would do the same but if OP is already at the point of reinstalling Windows, I figured I would provide some less annoying options. Virtual machines have saved me immense amounts of frustration over the years and Player is phenomenal for something free of charge.

Well, there's not any device with an exclamation mark. The thing is after I plug in the phone I can't see Pixel 7 in Device Manager - there is only "Android ADB Composite Interface". "Pixel 7" is visible in the tab on another PC though.

As I said, I have no USB A-C cable that supports data transfer. But I'll borrow one to at least try.
And the thing is it might not fix the problem as well if drivers are screwed up.
If you have another USB-C port, I would try that as well. Sometimes different ports, even on the same controller, can have different results.
Unfortunately I have just one USB-C port.

That's good and bad lol. Good because it won't try to auto reinstall an incorrect driver but bad because you can't really update it from device manager. As for the .inf driver wpdmtp.inf I believe is the older version that was replaced by winusb.inf. Have you tried to install either or both drivers via right click - install on the file name? That was the fix some time ago but as I said many moons.

Yeah, I tried that as well.
And forgot to mention that I borrowed USB A-C cable and MTP actually worked. It's not as stable as it should be (sometimes it disconnects) but still it works.
