[Q] Reverting Android 2.3.6 to 2.3.4 SGA Downgrade - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to go back to the original Android v2.3.4 after automatically updating it to 2.3.6?
You see, 3 days ago, I went in Settings>About Phone> Software Update. My Galaxy Ace was earlier running on android 2.3.4 (DDKQ6 if that helps) and it was superb. After I chose the "Software Update" option, it downloaded a 14MB file and then stated my phone would be rebooted and no functionality would be enabled while its rebooting.. So the phone rebooted and it took me into a "recovery mode" like state and the android logo was there with this box showing an arrow pointing out of it. Below was just a yellow status bar showing how much was completed. It took me about half an hour and the phone started. My phone is now running Android 2.3.6 *DDKQ 8*
Initially, everything was fine.., I was enjoying the new UI and all, but then the problems started coming up... My battery started to drain like hell!! Earlier, running 2.3.4, I'd full charge the battery like at 7AM and after a day of full usage, downloading apps, IMs, browsing the web, playing games, listening to music and all, the battery would then come to somewhere around like 10% toward 6-7PM in the evening.. But now, running 2.3.6, my battery gets eaten up like Gabriel Iglesias to tacos! xD
I'd charge it in the morning and by noon 12 o clock its 40% already.. and barely lasts till about 2 o clock.. So that's one thing, my battery runs down really fast.
Second, my tethering gives trouble.. I cant connect to the internet when I turn the phone into a wireless hotspot. Sometimes there's even trouble connecting to the phone.. And when I do manage to however, then I get messages like This website cannot be displayed and all, but on the phone's browser the pages open. I've checked my computer's settings, its all fine and haven't been changed at all. It worked without any issues when I had 2.3.4 ..
And one final thing is that my Bluetooth's giving trouble too now.. I'll try switching it on, and below in grey its written "Turning on..." and then after like 30 seconds it says "Failed" and a few seconds later, it'll reboot automatically. This doesn't happen everytime i switch on the Bluetooth, but then again, it never happened with 2.3.4.
So highlights,
I've told you the steps I used to update it. Settings>About Phone>Software Update. It was a FOTA update and I didn't have to hook it up to the PC or anything.
Error messages like the Bluetooth failing and the phone then rebooting, portable hotspot problems, and the insane battery drainage..
These are the main issues..
I'm mainly wanting my battery life to come back the way it was..!
I never had any problems with my Ace.. It was the BEST phone for me.. I was so enjoying it. Didn't think 2.3.6 would ruin so much.. To be honest, I didn't think that 2.3.6 was coming my way when I did the software update. I was just thinking it would be some other minor changes since it seemed just 14MB but obviously, I was wrong, and now learnt more about it xD
So my question - Is there some way to revert to the earlier version of Android2.3.4? Please say YES xD and then please tell me how do I do it! I've searched the internet so much but to no avail. They all keep saying to use this ODIN thingy and download some other files and flash the ROM and all.. I'd give it a try, but I'm not really keen on doing it just yet. I'm looking for alternatives.
The only other thing I've done to this phone is root it.
So please help me getting back to the earlier original Android 2.3.4 I had since the day I bought the phone! It worked like a charm without any errors, problems what so ever!

U should first download the 2.3.4 ddkq6 firmware from www.samfirmware.com .
Then unpack it and flash it via odin.
There are maby tutirials on how to use odin . Just search on google. When u flash it u hav the previous firmware. Just follow the steps properly
from XDA app
Press THANKS if I helped

wipe cache is recovery n c if tat helps
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk

THANKS!
Thanks a lot for the help! I flashed it with Odin .. I was looking for alternatives but now I guess that was the only way.. Anyway, it wasn't as complicated as I expected it to be.. Happened with ease.. Now its back to 2.3.4 DDKQ6 and hopefully it'll be working just the way it was!! Thanks THANKS THAAANKKKSSS!! xD Finally!

Hey "GuitarGuy96", I think you are the only guy havin' problems with battery backup when upgraded from 2.3.4(DDKQ5) to 2.3.6(DDKQ8) ...All others have stated "improvement in battery backup" as the major highlight of the update (that includes me too..)...I suppose no one will ever think of a downgrade from DDKQ8 to DDKQ5...

Hi GuitarGuy96, may i know how did u get ur galaxy ace 2.3.6 into download mode before u flash it with ODIN. coz i've tried many ways but my galaxy ace 2.3.6 doesn't boot into download mode.
hope u can gv me a hand .. ~ : )

Hey, so yeah you've got to hold down the middle home key button + the key lock/power button + volume down button in this sequence. Don't remove your fingers from any of them as it boots... Be patient.. It'd take a few seconds then you should see the Downloading screen and you're set!
Hope that helped, and it all goes well..!

Ofcourse I did use Titanium Backup maybe. I've heard it does wonders. Though I've never tried it personally myself.

Stocklite is quite a good alternative other than just flashing the stock rom again. The battery life is rather great, as it uses the battery extender kernel.

THE SWEET and BITTER GINGERBREAD

I have UK SGS and upgraded Nordic v. Ginger Bread via Kies.
I9000 xxjvk
Initially it was so sweet. It was faster and smoother........
And none was erased after upgrade.
Then one morning I found all the battery was drained.
Then again and again....
It seems draining battery when the phone showing a massage saying
Sorry, TWlauncher is not responding.
I did factory reset but same massage returns.
I checked battery usage and Android os is by far the biggest user.
Is anyone out there knows what is the problem?
Secondly, not sure this is problem or changed for 233.
When phone is on two soft buttons remain lights on.
Thirdly, Google map cannot find my position.
My sgs never had any problem with gps before.
Finally, 3 button factory reset does not work.
Is this common problem for the xxjvk?
Anyone can give me some help?
Thanks.
JVK is still in beta mode so is not quite finished.
if these issues are from coming to gingerbread. why not just go back to froyo until it is stable enough ?
or there are many custom GB roms out there you could try
dont lose faith
Plus their are multiple posts and some fixes on battery drain problems read them .
Your Kies upgrade as you may be aware was pulled from the servers within a few days problem unknown .
jje
Thanks for comfort.
I should wait for a while more, then.

[Q] LGO2X woman noob in need of... help?!

Hi guys!
I'm sure I can find some answers digging around here but the problem is I don't know where to start
It's my frist android and my first visit to xda developers. I've had Iphone4 till now and I don't have a clue what to do with this one.
I wanted a fast smarthphone but I got a slug I'm kinda dissapointed.
First problem was when I connected it to the charger for the first time. It froze at 63% percent and was left like that probably whole night. When I connected it to PC it charged normally within an hour. When I touch anything it's surprisingly slow and when I play music I can hear myself typing and touching the screen everytime when I lay my finger on it. I usually turn it off and it's ok for a few days but then it starts freezing again. Sometimes it also skipping parts of the ringtone when ringing like a cd with a scratch
here is some data about it so maybe you can help with giving a suggestion what should I do.
Android

1035.21_20110405
Kernel

I've seen the links for all kind of updates but it's all just a bunch of letters and numbers that I don't understand so be gentle with me
Well.. first of all, try search about "rooting" Optimus 2X and installing ROM Manager..

Well, GHadap is trying to tell you to "unlock your phone", give it root access (How to do that?) so you can install another version of the Android OS (a ROM) that is faster and more reliable. Not sure where you are located, but some countries didn't get the last "Over-The-Air" Original LG Update v10D that ULJ is talking about.
Personally, I have had charging problems with the wall charger too. (Black screen of death) With USB charging on a PC, no problems. But I only had these problems using a community ROM called Cyanogenmod (still in developement). All worked fine with the original ROM, well, I actually didn't use it for a long time so I can't really tell...
Before flashing a new ROM, you should consider three things:
The official update to Android Gingerbread has been announced to release on October. (Source Thread)
You need an external SD Card to stock complete phone backups (System + Programs + Settings) and flashing erases the internal "SD-Card" storage (you would have to copy all of this on your computer before flashing)
There is no support available for a custom community ROM except the community. And most of the custom ROMs don't have final versions YET.
If you want to flash a new ROM now to use your phone like it should work, I would consider installing the ModacoROM. It resembles the stock LG ROM the most if you flash the standard version of Modaco ROM.
At last, if you just have bought the phone (two weeks or less than a month), I would go for a refund and buy the Samsung Galaxy S2 or better, wait for the next Google Nexus phone.

WTF i dont understand where you all gets these problems from, i have the phone on stock and its fast as hell with no reboots or freezes.
The S2 isnt very good anyway it sufferes from major overheating problerms the O2X does not.
Im on stock v10d and have no problems and dont want to upgrade to buggy nightly crap.
I use a travel usb plug charger so maybe its the lg charger that comes with it that is the problem, id speculate that the charger has a fault and the phone shuts down to prevent damage.

That's what they get for clocking up an Cortex A9 and making the phone thin lol
The LG charger sometimes hums and shuts off... it's only reliable 90% of the time. Sometimes charging overheats my phone so I've bought some generic microusb charger for the o2x and it's worked well for me. =)

@paranoid.android.jk: have you bought this phone new or already used?
You should look on the lg.com website for the LGMobile Update application. It automatically downloads the latest version and flashes the phone (remember to backup all critical data like Internal SD etc...)

"Dirty" is indeed there, I saw it on my stock as well yesterday, and I updated to the latest one with the lg mobile suite, and it shows 2.6.32.9 for kernel.
I still have tho a pathetic battery life, and I'm trying to solve everything without rooting the phone, as I got really tired doing it with the SGS. I won't flash any custom ROM on it, especially not a nightly build.

Well then you should have gotten an iphone....
The problem is that the LG firmware is a complete load of crap. The phone itself is an amazing piece of technology, but somebody should fire the whole firmware team at LG and replace it with either a stoned monkey (same results, cheaper) or a decent team (better results, same cost).
The best thing you could possibly do to your Optimus 2X is to root it (similar to jailbreaking your iPhone) and installing custom firmware like CyanogenMod. The problem there is that there's no 100% stable release for that at the moment. Having said that though, I've been using it since the first release with almost no worries.
I wouldn't recommend the Optimus 2X to anybody that wasn't the exact same kind of nerd as I am - which is a pretty small market.

I had heard that people with various different ROMs still had the BSOD/rebooting problems. Is it really a magic bullet?
I don't mind giving a community ROM a go so long as I can flash the phone back to stock if i need to send it back under warranty (ie in case I still get BSODs and reboots in whichever ROM I try)
Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial that shows how to dump my current ROM in such a way that it can easily be reflashed in the future?
no need to dump it - apparently you can flash a stock ROM with nvflash even if you've completely bricked your phone (it's a bit like using Odin on a Samsung phone or fastboot on an HTC). Suits me fine!
CyanogenMod 7.1 is currently at RC1 status, with an RC2 not scheduled for until whenever Cyanogen comes back from holidays. It's vastly more stable than the stock ROM though; the phone is actually usable when you're installing apps from the market, for instance, and there's significantly reduced amounts of freezing happening. I can't say it's been completely eliminated, but there's far less of it.
The only annoying issue you may encounter is tethering on Windows XP. That's an immediate Windows BSOD (and convenient way of getting out of work) for me.

You seriously offended me mate lol...
I would never buy from Apple! But lets stop it here before it goes further.
I had better battery life today I guess the system is optimising the usage now. I like this phone very much, the quickest phone I've ever seen with the nicest display and the easiest keyboard to type!
My P990 pre-production unit doesn't have BSOD,freezes or anything since bought and stock. The only problem occured was when I flashed GR1 of modaco too many fc's but it isn't the phone's fault.
ok, tnx guys
the thing is I am from Croatia and I'm on T mobile. When i try to get an update, using Lg suite IV it says no updates available.
Nothing changed in the meantime, the phone is still very slow and the battery life is killing me. I spend more time charging it then using it
I was so desperate that I even uninstalled live wallpapers cause I thought it would help but it seems even worse then before.
so, will this really help?

of course it will help, but you should update your kernel using neoblaze and overclock it, and use auto killer memory optimizer.
and about battery life i think it's the same cause i charge the phone 2times a day depends on your use. you should try juice defender it's nice app
Beware: noob incoming!!
I think this thread is adapted to my question (didn't dare creating a new one) so here it goes:
Since I got my LGP990 (France/Bouygues Telecom), I received only one update via the LG mobile support tools.
My current firmware is V10C, and the phone is really slow (takes few seconds to react when pressing the power button before it goes to the unlock screen...wifi often crashing...).
In the LGMobile support tools, the update historic says that I already updated to V10D, but the main windows says its V10C... This is really confusing (I took a screenshot but it seems I can't post the link...)...
Does anybody knows what I can do? I was planning to wait for the official Gingerbread update, but I am so fed up with LG that I might consider going through the troubles of installing a custom ROM (maybe miui?)
Thanks a lot for any answer!!!
Edit: another weird thing, the LG mobile suite IV detects an update, but when it switch to LGMobile update, it says the phone is up to date... this is starting to annoy me!!!

[Q] Stock Dialer Gone Bad, Used Odin and Kies, Still bad! Help!

Ok, so Friday morning I woke up and my phone was stuck in exhibition (desk) mode. I had to remove the battery twice to get it to boot into android and stay there.
This is a NON ROOTED Captivate. Using stock Froyo from Kies.
After I get it into Froyo, I went to make a phone call, and then the dialer sends the call, and vanishes. The phone freezes. The call goes through, but I now have no access to the rest of the phone. No ability to use the dial pad, or even to shut off the phone. I have to manually remove the battery.
After 48 hours I was pissed off. I'm out of warranty with AT&T by a month because I bought it on launch day last year.
So I used Odin to reset it to stock Eclair, and tested it, worse than in Froyo! The phone actually froze and the call didn't even go through! So I re-updated via Kies.
I'm back to square one. I have no idea where to go from here. HELP! I don't want to suffer this until the Galaxy S 2's come out here in the states, and I don't want to flash it to a custom rom if at all possible. Resetting it to stock should have fixed the issue if it was software, right? So it has to be hardware, right? But how does that make sense that only the phone function would be affected?
HELP!
Thanks in advance,
Tiberius Reign
^ Any recently downloaded app, widget, etc. that could be suspect ?? Anything come to mind that u may have done right before this started ??
I see u went to stock eclair, but i ask the above just in case u might have reinstalled everything after u went stock.
I tested the phone without installing any apps. I had a worse problem. The damn phone rebooted. I upgraded back to Froyo, and it became manageable. I saw someone else who was having similar issues with com.android.phone freezing and locking up all the time. Mine does it some of the time, and it's getting worse. I tried the delvik clear etc that was listed, and it still didn't help.
I'm kind of at my wits end here.
A lot of us i think are starting to have this problem. I had started a thread a while back about it but was never able to solve the problem. here is my original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168128
here are threads of other people having a similar problem that i have also replied in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204823
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226807
i think would should all stick to replying back to one thread maybe this one because its newer, this way it can be easier for us to help each other find a solution to this problem.

how to fix turning off issue for samsung i9000 ?

I just have updated my mobile from 2.2.1 to 2.3.4, i used this forum tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1139050
I have issue - my phone is turning off for no reason, you know i don't have lots of apps only fb,twitter, skype and 'advanced task killer'
actually when I am doing Skype video calls, writing SMS or anything else my phone just changed to 'black screen' every couple hours and afterwards my Samsung turning off with sound. To turn on I need take battery off and then into back then he allow to turn on...
before I updated I had little bit similar situation, my phone had 2.2.1 version and i didn't have black screen, but my phone just had 'freezing' for 10 sec or more...
what's problem for? what's your suggestions ? thank you a lot.
Ed
I have this issue as well, although it doesn't happen as much since I upgraded to gingerbread. I did have it happen once the other day. I was listening to music and I needed to make a call and when exiting the music app, it froze. It then went black and I had to take battery out and put it back in. It's annoying if you got a otterbox case on it with two layers. I had heard updating to gingerbread stops this but so far I don't think it's 100%. I use my phone as my alarm and one time it went dead with a full charge and I was almost late for work.
Let me know if you figure something out.
what can say experts about our issue ?
I will take some day my mobile to repair centre.. it's sad if couple of people have same issue and nobody can tell us the problem reason.
Try to flash a custom kernel and see if it the problem is still there
can you tell me or give information what's is 'flash custom kernel' ?
I have also encountered this problem, very frequently if i may add.
the problem actually first occured a few months ago, after i updated my firmware to gingerbread.
In my case the phone does not freeze, the screen wont turn on or respond to any gestures (hardware/capacitive button won't too), however any running process still runs, in specific i can still recieve phone calls, or at least hear the ringer.
I know of many other people that encountered this problem, all came from different ROMs (MIUI, SH 3.5 and up, Stock, PilotX etc..) and i, for one, can say that in the past two-three weeks it atarted appearing a few times a day.
So - does anyone have any ideas for the nature of this BUG??
BTW I use the i9000t which i own for over 7 months now.
Same problem
Hi, I have the same problem here.
and have seen this myself on stock roms too.
It doesn't happen very often (only once on my phone for now) but it is getting me pissed off as no one knows the nature of this BUG.
could it be a problem with the latest 2.3.4 version ? or an update of one of the applications?
I don't have too many apps on my phone only skype and 2-3 games.
the only thing I can think of right now is that all people who had this bug had skype on the phone but I don't really think it's from that.
Hi, And-roid if u ll update to 2.3.4 your mobile will working deffo better, i suggest you update your mobile to 2.3.4
Hey eddys, i have 2.3.4 for over two months now, and the problem just go worst...
Hi eddys,
I have the 2.3.4 (and my brother and sister in law have it too with a stock rom).
this is happening on all roms and all kernels...maybe a problem with the 2.3.4?
I don't know but it is very weird, no one has an answer for this....
edit:
just checked this with my phone supplier and of course they have no idea what so ever about this bug.
come to think of it they didn't even know how to fix my brother in laws "problem" when the 3G internet didn't work (settings-->wireless and network-->mobile network--> check the V on Use packet data ) so no surprise there.
Anyone???
Maybe theres another forum that this problem should be posted at??
I have this bug too, but only while tethering. I've found a solution to the tethering related crashes - after you start tethering, go to the SuperUser settings, and disable root permissions for android wifi tether. Your phone shouldn't crash anymore.
hey zyczu,
unfortunately, I do not use tethering at all, do you suggest i should disable ALL root permissions?
This bug is really getting on my nerves!!!
Everything else, but this, is working great...
Since upgrading my i9000m to 2.3.3 through Kies, my phone has exhibited similar symptoms 3 times: freezing, not responding to touch etc.
The first time I had pulled the battery when it did this, but the 2nd time I had just put the phone down a minute or 2 earlier so display was off so didn't notice it(about 2 weeks ago). And the 3rd time(today), I was using it at the time, and so started taking off my rubberized case, only to have it restart before I got the chance to pull the phone back off.
Startup took much much longer than normal, which I recall the startup was similar during the 2nd "freeze & reboot". For some reason today, I randomly though maybe its an OTA update so I checked "Settings..About Phone" and found my kernel version listed as:
Code:
2.6.35.7-I9000UGKG3
[email protected]#2
I have no idea what it was before, but September 8th was 2 days ago... It is possible it said that before today's restart but no idea. I have a PIN on my SIM so when starting up have to enter PIN for it to work, but on these auto restarts I never got asked for my PIN so it could have restarted other times too without me noticing(ie. middle of night).
Hmm, mine used to something similar when I would leave Bluetooth on but would move out of range of a paired device. After a few minutes it would just shut down or stop responding. Haven't had that issue since moving to Milkys rom.
hi guys, i just used this tutorial http://androidadvices.com/how-to-up...0-to-stable-gingerbread-xwjvh-2-3-3-firmware/
first I installed 2.3.3 XWJVB then 2.3.3 XWJVH
just doing step by step...
my phone was working fine 2days then i had same issue and then I changed to original SAMSUNG battery and it's working perfect.
try this..
p.s. what kind of batteries you have 'original' or 'non-original' ? thank you
madmigs:
I did not notice the kernel version ive had before, however i took my phone to a service center today, and for what i can see i have the same version as you do, take aside the i9000t instead of i9000m...
eddys:
Ive been using different batteries orig/non-orig on and off, although since ive noticed it hurts performance i stopped doing that, do you suggest that this might be the cause of the problem?
If so, the factory wipe i just did (formatted the internal SD card) should do the trick.
try reading this it helped me since i turn the wi fi off when i go out
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-ace/312084-randomly-turning-off.html
Are you guys experiencing turn-off issue while phone is in the locked state. I mean you locked the screen and then after a while when you picked it up for unlocking it was powered off. If anyone has this issue, then I found a solution. Just let me know
my turning off issue went back and it's getting every time more annoying, I don't know what to do...

I no longer love gingerbread men lol please help!

Hi Guys and Gals
Hoping someone can help meor point me to somewhere/one who can please
Recently picked up an i9000 which is on the orange network and was running:
PDA: i9000bvjm5
PHONE: i9000bvjm1
CSC: i9000orajm3
everything worked just fine, i was getting tons of battery life out of it in idle, until i noticed that when i had 'anti-shake' ticked in the camera mode, it wouldnt allow me to adjust the exposure, so i contacted samsung and they told me that upgrading my firmware to 2.3.3 via Kies would solve the problem, i promptly did so and yes, it fixed the problem (hurrah!)
HOWEVER!
i now have a much larger issue with my phone in that before updating the firmware it would eat about 5% of my battery in 24hrs if not in use
Now i need to charge this thing twice a day minimum even when im not using it!!! aaaaaaaarrrggghhh!
i've shut off all unneccessary services like background data etc etc etc still no help, digging into the battery stats themselves tells me its the android OS thats eating 78% of my battery, while its idling! WTF! previous to this it was the display that ate the battery, but it cant be that when the displays off can it!
How on earth can i get back to my original firmware (eclair) or update to a newer version where this problem is fixed please?
i am a bit of a nob/noob at this so please try to K.I.S.S.
I cant live like this!!!! lol
will a factory data reset do the trick? or doesn't that affect the firmware?
Any help greatly appreciated
Yours in desperation x
Dan
If you google "Android OS bug" you'll see that this is a common problem. You said you upgraded to 2.3.3, but I believe they didn't correct this issue until 2.3.5—although I may be wrong about that.
You can update to whatever firmware you want by flashing your phone. This will void your warranty. Likewise, you can flash back to 2.2 if you so please. You can flash your device using a program called Odin or Heimdall. Search for tutorials, you'll find plenty.
As for the actual bug, in my times of testing a ROM that was susceptable to the Android OS bug, I usually just restarted my phone and saw it go away. Clearing the cache may help as well, but I really couldn't say for sure. Try a simple reboot and see if the problem persists.
big props upichie!
i had exhaustively googled this problem before troubling you guys but it appears i was using the wrong words, doh!
alas im still none the wiser ( all the guides i can find 'assume' i know too much already about their terms for things and im lost
i turn my phone off, within 5 minutes of restarting it the OS is once again draining my battery completely
i clear my cache every 5 minutes and within 2 minutes its flippin eating me again
is odin or heindall another thing i install onto my pc (not my phone?) like kies to revert back to the old firmware? eclair 2.1 i had nailed! if it aint broke dont fix it, why dont i listen to myself!
and why the funk would they release a firmware that does this in the first place?
my head is spinning with the retardedness of all this, i come from a background where testing things exhaustively is part of the job, so i cant for the life of me understand why they would launch with something that sucks sooo bad!
im also at a slight disadvantage because i have the orange firmware and slightly different settings to most who have eclair, i think
jesus wept i just dont know anymore lol i think ill just throw the thing in the bin and go back to my old sony w810i cos that lasted 7 days on battery!
funk this firmware, funk this nonsense and funk this 12 hrs battery drain when not even using it, what a funkin palava!!!!
oh and funk you too samsung for telling me to upgrade my firmware you funkers!!!!!
im going to cry now lol
No worries! We've all been there. The terminology is confusing, but once you get a good grasp of it, you realize how simple it is to know what you need to know. I'm here to help.
Odin and Heimdall are programs for your PC, although I don't believe either need to be installed (they're just standalone executables). They both are programs designed to flash a new firmware onto your phone. You simply download the firmware files (for Odin it comes in 1 to 3 files, but Heimdall if I recall correctly only uses 1 file) and then use the program to flash the new firmware.
Just so you're aware, if your Android OS is showing a high percentage, that percentage will not go away until you fully recharge the phone, as it would keep the record of the Android OS previously draining your battery.
I'm honestly not entirely sure how to help you. You could download the app called BettterBatteryStats and do some digging to find out what is causing your phone to not be able to enter/maintain deep sleep (otherwise known as a "wakelock"), but you sound slightly inexperienced and probably wouldn't be thrilled with that idea.
Alternatively, is there any option in Kies to downgrade to 2.1 again? Maybe contact Samsung and see what they have to say. You upgraded from 2.1 to 2.3 because of their suggestion, and now your phone is getting unusable battery life. It only seems logical they'd have a way to downgrade.
If you have any questions about terminology, how things work, or anything at all related to your i9000, please do not hesitate to ask! We're here to help in any way that we can.
Try to flash xxjvt with semaphore 1.8.2 kernel. If i not use my i9000 just for calls/maild and music my battery lasts 2 days with 3g and wifi on.
Try to wipe your battery stats after a full charge.
