Can someone tell me where the static (not animated) "Motorola Dual Core" image hides? Somehow mine's all hosed and will probably keep me from passing the next sanity check for OTA update.
It was fine until about a week ago, now it has the bottom 1/4 clipped off (black) with a vibrating top 1/4 that looks like an old-style Motorola logo that's not in the right format for the Bionic...

I've had my 7 for just at a month. No screen lift, was happy as a clam. Yesterday, while using it for GPS in the car, I saw a black line down the right hand side (in normal portrait mode, it would be about 3/4" up, from the bottom of the screen). Knowing that it wasn't there before, I rebooted. During the boot process, the line was white, then it turned black when the OS was loaded. If I cranked the brightness up (I usually keep it at 0) the line turned white again, and pulsed with red/blue/green colors). Called Google and they RMA'd it (after having me do a factory reset). I did an ADB backup of the whole thing, so hopefully I can just restore that when I get the new one. Have a TWRP backup too. Bummer, hope it's not a systemic defect with this baby.

Sad At least you're going to get a new one

So my poor i9000m went for a faceplant earlier this year and the glass was badly cracked. I continued using it for a while until the amoled started displaying messed up colors and finally turned a harsh shade of green so you could barely see what was on the screen.
I disassembled the phone, and discovered the amoled itself had started to crack. Okay, so dead screen. I ordered one of the replacement amoled that include the frame and buttons (for a few bucks more then only the amoled it seemed like a worthwhile convenience).
I got the replacement today, and carefully reassembled the phone around it. Power on... Samsung logo, cyanogenmod logo, startup animation! Awesome I think to myself! But then the cyanogen animation goes weird colors (as if the display was set to 16 color). Phone boots and looks okay, colors maybe a bit faded. Then the screen timeout hits, so I hit the power button to start up again. This time no Samsung logo, just a small green line at the top. After a while cid appears on the boot animation. In the OS, colors look poor (like it is in 256 color mode), and gradients look horribly jaggy.
If I boot into recovery or download mode, I get a little green line that slowly fades to random pixels across the whole screen. Only if I boot into the OS can I see anything. And still, colors look horrible.
I took the phone apart again, cleaned the connectors carefully, but same thing.
Any thoughts? Did I get a dud screen or does this sound like something else is wrong in the phone?
I'm randomly getting a split screen, half of the screen turns upside down, half stays right side up. Screenshots do not show it however. I have to turn off the screen for it to go away. Happens periodically after several minutes of use. Any thoughts?
looks a bit like a slot machine yes? I have a vertical split where the the image is not flipped, but it does scroll up/wrap around the screen so that the notification bar is somewhere in the bottom half of the screen and the bottom of the image is wrapped around to the top.
I only really get it on custom kernels, I reported it to the maker of Elite and he said from what he has heard its a hardware issue and the only fix would be to RMA. Haven't done that yet as it fairly occasional, but plan to soonish.
kinda sucky how we are getting screen issues on this phone, i also have a screen issue with vertical gradient line appearing on some material themes.
sadly i cant RMA it. if i could i would have, i have ordered it all the way from the Middle east. :/ i will stick to the phone for a while longer as i love it.. and hoping that the line somehow dissappears by its own.
Well, I woke up this morning to find that my phone had been stuck on the Google boot logo for at least a few hours. I cursed to myself because I already knew it was going to be burned. I booted my phone and as soon as it got to the MultiROM boot screen, man did I feel it. There was a big fat "Google" right in the middle of the screen. I've had an app I found on the Play Store running for ~8 hours, filling the screen with colors flashing back and forth. It's gotten better and I can't notice it anywhere but the MultiROM boot screen anymore (I tested it with multiple burn-in test apps). I guess it's okay but the the concept of a very expensive phone being burned like that kills me inside. One request, can someone get me an exact image of what the screen looks like when it's turning on so I can invert the colors and hopefully get it gone all the way?
I had some burn in that was bad a while back and this app
Display Tester fixed it up well. I used the burn in fix method with the black and white stripes.
Hi all, my daughter has. Motorola Droid Turbo. She was at her Bowling league this morning, her phone was sitting on the table. She picked it up & the screen was black, except for about 1/8" at the bottom of the screen. You can see the top of her wallpaper. Any ideas as to what happened to it would be greatly appreciated.
Has she tried rebooting it? And if so, can you see a full screen with the boot images? If she can, maybe try doing a cache wipe in recovery or factory reset. If she can't see a full screen, then chances are, the LCD is toast.
It is possible the phone got knocked off the table and no one told her. You can try opening it up and checking the contacts for the LCD in case it got knocked loose.
