Hello. My Droid 3 is still under warranty and the keyboard backlight is broken, it will not light up under any circumstances. I am running the newest version of Liberty and my phone is rooted. I want to take my phone back to the Verizon store for a replacement, and I want to revert everything back to original to avoid a verizon wireless technician from telling me my warranty is void. How do I do this? Thanks.

Create a Nandroid backup and place it on your PC for when you get your replacement. Then download and run this...

After you've connected the phone with the stock cable and booted up with M+Power and used volume down to highlight AP Fastboot and up to select it, double click the thing that says "CLICK HERE TO FLASH...etc." Let it run and your phone will be box stock. The only thing it can't fix is the radio hack, but no rep will ever be able to see that since RadioComm is proprietary to Motorola.

So my screen is shot.. the phone hit the ground very hard.. the screen popped out a bit and doesnt work. Can I put the stock ROM back on it and relock it with out the screen working? I have insurance, but I dont want them to diagnose it and figure out its hacked. Please give me any info you can! Thanks guys!
you should be able to, are you able to sync the phone w/your comp via activesync? ifso, just flash back to the shipped ROM (relock if necessary, and swap 'er out!)

how can u flash back to the stock rom? i have the ntelos version and i have flashed it with 2 different roms. how can i get my stock ntelos rom back?
you will have to download the stock/shipped rom, maybe from your carrier's website?
i'm not familiar w/ntelos so i'm not sure where to find the stock rom.
*after a few mins of searching through the ntelos site i found a link to diamond "software download" on the lower left - http://nteloswireless.com/phones/htc/htcdiamond.php
which will take you to the HTC site where ROM updates appear to be available:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownloadList.aspx?p_id=133&act=sd&cat=2
and a link to the most recent ROM DL, you'll have to enter your serial # to access the ROM - http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=133&cat=2&dl_id=483
i entered my serial number and it said the serial # was invalid
It seems to have worked.. I called Asurion, and they sent my phone.. just got it!! Thanks guys.. now time to unlock get it back to where i had it!
How do you lock the phone back though after you've flashed back to stock rom. My screen no longer recognizes the touch. And I will definitely have to take it in for repairs asap. Is there a cab out there?
Try this baby out:
http://www.mymobiler.com/
I broke a screen on mine before and was able to do whatever with it...then again if you are getting it replaced by insurance... you could technically say it was lost / stolen and you wouldn't have to bother with re-locking etc.
Hi,
I have a problem with my galaxy s not booting unless plugged in, after a long research it seems that it's a hardware issue so I wanna send it back for warranty.
Thing is, I have rooted my phone and then I went back to the original firmware (from samsungfirmware ) and then, I upgraded it via Kies to 2.2 and everything is fine apart from my the issue that I just explained.
the question is, would samsung repair it , would they realize that I have rooted my phone before ??
what's the worse scenario in this case ? should I give it a shot or repair it myself?
thanks
I think, the worse scenario is they won't repair your phone and send it back to you (and you have to pay the delivering).
If you unroot your phone, I don't think they are able to find out if your phone was rooted or not (or is there any root-log-file?).
thx for reply
I'm not sure how I can see what's in my internal (sys) memory since it's not rooted. but I formatted everything (boot, sys, sd ext ...) before flashing the stock firmware.
thanks
With HTC we have A RUU that restores the phone to exactly the factory condition all you need is USB connectivity. You need to find this EXE to run and bring it back to stock and in theory they cannot tell if it has been rooted. Out of neccessity I had to send my Evo back fully rooted with custom boot animation and splash screen and i never heard anything about it. You can take the chance or you can google until you find the correct file.
As long as its no longer rooted I'm pretty sure your good
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
thx guys, I'll take it tomorrow and see what's gonna happen.
best regards
Let us know how you get on .

I cant get my phone to boot past the ATT screen. I screwed up somewhere trying to change from the X-note rom and lost my data connection. Tried changing roms and that just went down hill so they i went to the MJ5 restore steps and now its really screwed up. I can get it to go into download mode and it finished a restore process but then it wont boot up do anyone have a file that i can use or something. Im totally lost now and without an actual MJ5 odin file seems like nothing works. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Odin does not work on MJ5... That is why there are so many threads warning you not to mess with Changing from MJ5 to something else... Or anything based on MJ5... MJ5 has a locked bootsector and there is nothing to unlock it right now meaning it cannot be written over. Once you mess it up, it will stay that way till somebody cracks the boot loader and we can then use any rom... I would just try to hard brick it now and make a warranty claim. If it is hard bricked they cannot test it to see if you have tampered with it...

Spoke with Samsung and they told me to take my phone to best buy and have a samsung tech look at it because at the moment its stuck in emergency recovery. Does that make it detectable?
Once they get it to boot which they can, they will see the KNOX has tripped and you will be out of a warranty and charged for their work..

No its a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and im outside my ATT warranty but still under samsung warranty. This is what my screen says when i turn my phone on.
Odin Mode
Product Name: sm-n900a
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Knox Kernal Lock: 0x0
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
Qualcomm secureboot: Enable (CSB)
AP SWREV: S2, T2, R2, A2, P2
Write Protection: Enable
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again.
And it stays that way no matter what i do unless i try to manually put it into download mode. Other then that the phone doesnt do anything at all.
So have you tried getting Kies for your PC and using it instead of Odin?? Then use it as the phone is suggesting?

Yes i have tried both ways and nothing works. Samsung is telling me that i need to mail them my phone and that they will try and fix it. Which basicly means that i will be without a phone until next year. So now im stuck between should i wait and hopefully a fix will be released or found or should i just send it back and feel naked for some weeks.
This is why you should always keep an old flip phone or older smart phone as a back up. I have an old Sony Ericsson flip as well as an HTC Pure in the event I need to send my Note back for service and not be without a phone. By phone I mean the actual phone. Worse case I can go two weeks with out portable internet.
I would just send it in as it looks like that will take less time then waiting for a bootloader crack..
Ok some how i got the phone to boot back up through odin with various files and it but now i have a bunch forced closes on like the direct pen input and process system isnt responded. And i dont have data...anyone know a way for me to fix the data issue?
Flash this in recovery (either side load or put it on your external sd

Hi i have the Galaxy S4 Active from At&t SGH-I537. It is rooted using activeroot by geohot and i have removed some blootware with titanium backup. It has worked fine for months and all of a sudden today the screen went black. The led notification light works and i can hear myself getting text messages but the screen simply will not turn on. Tried booting into recovery with no luck the screen was still off. When i plug my phone into my computer i can browse my files through the computer normally. I requested a new phone under the factory warranty and just realized that i am screwed and will get charged full price for replacement because my phone is rooted. Does anyone have any suggestions??

It sounds like your screen is broken, it could be something on the software side, but my bet is that the screen is broken. One thing you could try before sending it off for warranty replacement is to flash the Odin files for MF1, this will wipe everything but you would be able to see if the screen is truly broken or not.
If you do have to send it off for warranty, I suggest flashing the ML2 Odin package, don't flash the ML2 bootloader as this will provide you a way to get back to MF1. This will revert your phone to stock and they shouldn't be able to tell you rooted it. The flash counter shouldn't be tripped either since it's not possible to flash anything to the i537. Beware that your warranty replacement will probably come with ML2 pre-installed meaning you will no longer have root. Most of the time Samsung will simply replace your phone, but if they just install a new screen and don't update the firmware, make sure you don't flash the ML2 bootloader.
The other thing you could do is search around for a replacement screen and try to install it yourself.
All the Odin packages can be found in the i537 Firmware thread.
Hello,
I was using Cyanogenmod 11 and suddenly (possibly after an update) my phone wouldn't charge anymore. I tried many different scenarios and it turns out that the phone only charged when my phone was either off or just booted and the screen not locked yet. From the second I locked my screen, my phone would stop charging.
Naturally, I assumed that this was a problem with the last CM update, so I flashed a new ROM (SkyDragon GPE). And now, it charges only when turned my phone is turned off. Very weird.
Is anyone familiar with this problem? Do I need to return it to the store? And if so, is it best to return to stock ROM etc before returning it?

Do not return it! I am not entirely sure wheter the Recovery is responsible for charging or not.
If you don't fear losing all your data or if you've already backed them up, do a full RUU. This works that way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632736 and go to this section : "You want to have stock software again? No Problem" it is the last one before the first post ends.
This will get you to stock bootloader, recovery and OS. But pay attention you need a Win7 PC!
This way we can test wheter the issue also exists with stock software. if yes -> returning to the seller is an option. But for now you shouldn't do that.

Thanks for your reply LibertyMarine,
I'm afraid I already returned my phone. I couldn't even do anything with my phone anymore: the battery was dead and there was no way to charge it.

That's ok. If the battery was really dead and you can't turn it on again, then the chances that the repairteam from HTC won't be able to turn it on again either are high. So if you get lucky they make the decision that replacing the device is cheaper than repairing it and in that case they may not find out that it has been rooted.
Otherwise they may charge your for having to replace your motherboard as it's against HTCs policy to send back an altered motherboard. Just hope they don't find it out.
Good luck!
